Only few facebook notifications are displayed on mountain lion notification centre

I have integrated my facebook account with the notification centre. I receive some notifications but not all. Can anyone tell a way to receive each and every fb notification and message.
MBP 10.8.3

Hi,
I think some of this  will be about what people expect and want compared to the way other people would want it to work.
I only open Mail when I will be dealing with emails.
I can't see that I would want constant badgering that new emails were arriving.  To me that seems pointless.

  • How to setup Facebook notifications on OS X Mountain Lion notification center?

    Hi!
Well, I'm having a bit of a problem here on my OS.
I had a Facebook account and I used to receive notifications in the OS Notification Center about comments, likes, messages, etc., as if I was at my iPhone or iPad.
In the meanwhile I deleted that account on Facebook and lost all my information (permanently) because I 'arrived' late at the recovery date and the OS was linked with that account.
Then I have created a new account and linked the new on the OS. The post function at the Notification Center is working well. No problem about it.
As for the notifications, they just don't appear. Nothing. I recieve them on my phone, on the page... But not on the OS Notification Center!
I have already been at the System Preferences, Mail/Contacts/Calendar, deleted the Facebook login information, configured once again. It doesn't work.
Do I have to do anything about the privacy or settings on the Facebook website?
I hope you can help me solve this little problem.
    Thanks!

    Hello dįôñtę,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
    iOS: Understanding Notifications
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3576
    Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • When tranferring a file, only Open or Save are displayed, no Decline option

Hi - Using Lync 2013 client connecting to Lync 2013 server.  When transferring a file in a chat window only Open or Save are displayed, not the Accept, Save-As or  Decline options shown in the literature.  I'm thinking this might be due to
the rollup version - any comments?
    Thanks

  • Mountain lion notification centre is useless

Mountain lion notification centre only works if the app is running in the background and also no voice chat support for yahoo, whats that all about?

Yeah I was expecting the "magic" that I have experienced and stated in my previous post:
"I have read that everything that can post in notification center (except Apple Mail) can post without the app being open. I have experienced first hand Calendar, Reminders, and Messages postinga and alerting in notification center without them being open."
I expect this "magic" happen everytime and not malfunction randomly. Read before making ignorant posts and contributing nothing.
FYI just like the "magic" of receiving a Facetime call when the Facetime application is technically closed.

How can I Upload Pictures, from my Mac Book Pro Retina Display with Mountain Lion OS? Tried but it gets as far as i pictures but does not open?

This is not necessarily 100% correct at the current time.
As Dropbox is encouraging people to set it up for automatic uploading of photos they gradually increment your space as you load more pictures for free at the current time.
You do start with a fixed 2 GB but if you upload photos you will be awarded more free space.
You can also open a free account with Flickr - you may have some upload limits per day but you can upload pictures there.

  • Are Time Machine, Mountain Lion and Retina able to work together?

I have been using for a while Time Machines with various Mac's and OS X systems with no problem.
But Time Machine (backing up on a 2TB Time Capsule) + Mountain Lion (10.8.2) + a Retina Mac Book Pro have been not able to appropriately work together for the last 2 months:
    - TM displays 'none' for 'Oldest Backup'
    - the corresponding-sparse bundle reaches 578 GB
    - whereas the present tinner  storage of the Mac is only 200 GB
    - TM seems to restart in a given way the full backup every time (2 millions itesm..)
    - but it does not take too much time
    - and 'entering' in TM displays daily bakcups for the last week, but not beyond (compared to 2 months), and several (hourly-like) backups for the last day
Unfortunately, the recipes given by http://pondini.org/TM/Home.html seem to be inefficient.
Thank you for sharing your experience(s) with this kind of problem and solution(s) is you have !
    Regards,

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — anonymize before posting.

  • Mountain Lion notification center not working.

After getting Mountain Lion installed and notification center setup, I only receive notifications for Twitter and Reminders.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Facebook, Mail, Messages, and all the others are not alerting and are not showing up when I open the right sidebar.

I just did a clean install of Mountain Lion and I thought that my issue with this had something to do with it.  One thing is that my notification center for Facebook doesn't have all of the options that the OP's center has:
I deleted the PreferencePane for Notification and reinstalled 10.8.2 but I still get this result.  No sound in Notifications on the Mac or my iPhone for Facebook.

  • Safari pages load don't display in mountain lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion on my 2011 Mac Mini Safari loads the pages however there is nothing visable on the display except for white screen. I have to browse now using Google Chrome. I disabled all extensions and restarted many times with the same results.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • How do YOU manage multiple displays in Mountain Lion?

I'm finding that Mountain Lion's changed display management awfully hard to rationalize. I recently purchased a Macbook Air. I love it, but as a developer I did need more screen real estate. A few days ago I plugged an external 22" monitor in and was horrified to discover that a) full-screen mode renders one display worthless b) flipping between spaces flips BOTH screens.
This is entirely incomprehensible to me, but I'll leave the question of the wisdom of the decision for others to debate.
What I want to do is simple. Either:
    a) be able to flip between spaces on either display INDEPENDENT of the other
    and/or
    b) Flip between spaces on one display while leaving the other untouched. For example, using one as a reference screen while flipping between the browser and my code editor.
So, fellow developers and power users, how do YOU manage this scenario? Is there some 3rd-party utility that allows me to easily restore the functionality I had in previous versions of OSX?

    Why not start here.

  • Trying to reinstall OS X Lion but the only option is to reinstall OS X mountain lion is there a way around this?

I recently formatted my hard drive so that I could give my computer to my brother but when I was trying to reinstall OS X Lion (10.7) the only option that showed up was to reinstall OS X mountain lion which I do not have, so now I can't get past the menu that comes up when you hold command + C. How do I reinstall to OS X Lion when it isn't even an option that shows up

Ok, well, having had Snow leopard on it originally solves the question: the license for Lion (or Mountain Lion for that matter) is not transferable. You are required to erase the drive and reinstall the original OS (Snow Leopard). Giving or selling it with Lion (or ML) on it will not be helpful for the recipient because the machine ID and their Apple ID will no longer match so they will not be able to get updates.
Have you checked your Purchases section at the app store? Here is what shows on mine:
If you are using the recovery mode and Mountain Lion comes up, then I can only assume that this is what you purchased. I don't know why it would show up otherwise.
As far as selling your Mac, the above is irrelevant since you will need to reinstall Snow Leopard and the recipient will need to purchase Lion (or Mountain Lion) using their own Apple ID.
However, you need to check on this since you may want to download Lion again for another machine of yours. So, if you are sure you purchased Lion and nothing shows under your Purchases at MAS, I would either call Apple or make an appointment with your nearest Genius Bar to get it sorted.

  • Mountain Lion Notification Center

After Apple removed the Java Applet from Safari Browser, I updated my MAC OS X Mountain Lion through the App Store. Now, after updating Mountain Lion, the share buttons in the Notification Center are not working. I am not pretty sure, whether the problem is due to the removal of JAVA plug-in from the Safari browser through the MAC OS X Update.
Is anybody is experiencing the same problem, then please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Pratik Patel
