Only first 5 out of 8 podcasts appear in iTunes?

Hi Folks;
I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I suspect I have found a bug in iWeb, but it may be something that I need to do to change a setting that I can't find.
Anyway, I have created a video podcast with 8 individual videos. When you look in iWeb, these are spread over 2 pages. I've published the content to a server and all the content is there. I can view it through the webpages and the RSS feeds are working as well.
The problem comes in when I hit the subscribe button. At first glance, everything seems to work great in iTunes. I'm subscribed to the podcast and the latest one is downloaded.
But when I look more closely, I see that only 5 of the videos are listed in the podcast in iTunes. It appears that these are the 5 most recent entries. The entries on the second page do not appear in iTunes.
It appears that iWeb will only publish the fist page to iTunes. Can anyone confirm/deny this? Or is there some sort of limitation to the number of entries that iWeb will let you publish?
Thanks!

Rick
You can display more podcasts on your page, go to the main podcast page and then launch Inspector, next go to the RSS tab, In the Blog section, increase the Number of Excerpts to Show. This will increase the number of podcasts that you can display.

    Hi AkMat.
Have you actually opened these files to see what they are yet? The few Apps I've downloaded (not from iTunes) typically come with a few files. The actual app, the instructions/help/TOU and sometimes an uninstall.

  • I've imported several CDs that are "collections", with songs by various artists.  Only a PORTION of the song info appears in iTunes, and, when a song is "clicked-on" to play it, a message appears that the "song could not be found".  Any ideas ?

The CDs are imported into the "iTunes Media" folder, under "Compilations".   Each CD has a folder, with the name of the CD.  However, EACH SONG in the folder is assigned a sequential number as a prefix before the song's name.  For example "2-1 Sunshine of Your Love."  This prefix, I believe, prevents the song from being imported into the iTunes library.  The song's name appears in the iTunes library (with the number prefix), BUT no other song info (artist, CD name, time, etc.) shows in the iTunes library.   I am NOT designating these CD's as "complilations", but somehow, iTunes is arbitrarily assigning them to this "Compilations" folder, and then assigning sequential numbers to each song.    I am confused.  (My only remedy is to MANUALLY remove the prefix number from each song in the CD folder, within the COMPILATIONS folder, then "re-import" it into iTunes.  Cumbersome.)    Thanks in advance for any opinion, tips or guidance.

The numeric prefixes in filenames are probably the optional disc number, followed by the track number. iTunes will pick up the Compilation flag from the Gracenote CDDB database if you ripped the tracks with iTunes, or the flag may have been set earlier if these are existing tracks you have imported into a new library.  The iTunes naming convention is <Artist>\<Album>\[<D#>-]<T##> <Name>.<Ext> where Album Artist is used instead of Artist if not blank, and Compliations is used instead of Artist when Part of a compilation is true. Empty Artist or Album values are replaced with Unknown Artist or Unknown Album respectively. With Windows, file and folder names are limited to 40 characters. If more than one file is added with the same details subsequent tracks get suffixes to separate them.
If iTunes can't find a file that usually means that it has been moved after it was added to the library. Select a single broken track and press CTRL+I to Get Info. Look on the summary tab at the location that iTunes expects to find the file. Where is it really? Post back both paths and I might be able to figure out what has happened, and suggest a fix.

  • How my podcast appears in iTunes

I manage a global, corporate web site. I have two questions:
    1) How can I get a display page that would allow me to display multiple channels and multiple feeds -- under one brand.
Examples: USC Marshall Business School, Business Week, Quick & Dirty Tips.
    2) How can I get multiple Links?
    Examples: USC Marshall Business School
I understand some of these functions are a part of iTunesU. I'm looking for them in a corporate setting.
    Thanks.

You can't edit it in iTunes, which only reads the feed. You make any changes in the feed, in the same way that you entered the original data in whatever method you are using to make the podcast, and re-publish the feed. You don't need to re-submit it (indeed you can't). Subscribers will see changes immediately but the Store, which caches feeds and visits them in rotation, usually takes 1-2 days to catch up.
If you are going to change the image it's important to give it a different filename, otherwise the Store, which also caches the image, won't know it's changed and won't show the change. Any image must be 1400 x 1400 px, RGB, JPG or PNG, and less than 500kB.
When you have a query you should post the URLs of your iTunes Store page and your feed.

  • Strange lines appearing behind itunes

I went away for the holidays, and when I got back I booted up my 2006 iMac. Today for the first time, there are strange lines appearing behind iTunes whenever it is open but not the active window. I tried quitting and restarting iTunes, but the lines come back. I wish I could upload a screen shot of what this looks like on my desktop, it's very weird. It does not happen behind any other program window. Only iTunes. The lines appear as if they are extensions of the iTunes window formatting, in line with the side bars, etc. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips for getting it to quit?

I just wanted to add that I am also seeing the same problem: strange lines around the borders of the iTunes window. The most obvious ones are a set of four vertical lines running parallel to both sides of the iTunes window, although there are other strange bits as well, mostly around the top corners of the window, as well as a single thin horizontal line above the top of the iTunes window. These unusual lines started appearing "out of the blue" sometime in the past few weeks -- as in, not right after an update or any other configuration change to my mac... The only change I can say I did recently was to update to OS 10.6.6, although I know others who are running 10.6.6 and aren't having this issue with iTunes. I also wanted to add that in my case, I only see these strange lines when iTunes is the active window. Further to that, updating to iTunes 10.1.2 does not fix the problem, unfortunately.

  • Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes. Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod. Only podcasts are affected.

I have not seen this precise issue addressed anywhere. I don’t know if it’s an iTunes or an iPod problem:
    - Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes;
this, after normal behavior for more than a year since purchase of the iPod.
    - Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod.
    - Only podcasts are affected.
    - This concerns an iPod nano 6th gen. and iTunes 11.0.2 (26) on System 10.6.8
    - The only change to iTunes, the Mac, or the iPod is that just before this condition began
I’d begun syncing an iPhone via iTunes.
I sync manually (“manually manage music and videos”). The first time this happened, I wanted to delete seventeen podcast episodes (all belonging to one podcast) existing on the iPod — but they didn’t show up in iTunes. I tried re-downloading them and re-syncing, to see if the new versions would somehow “re-link” to iTunes. They didn’t. Only one — new — episode appeared in iTunes.
I ultimately reset the iPod and manually resynced all the podcasts I currently had on iTunes. That worked, though I had to painstakingly add in all the other content deleted by the reset.
So: after that reset and manual sync, all podcasts and episodes on the iPod were visible to iTunes and I was able to delete the podcast and its — now 18 — episodes I’d wanted to get rid of to begin with. But the next time I connected the iPod, only 8 podcast episodes out of 21 episodes total existing on the iPod were visible to iTunes. These are different podcasts; I’d deleted the original “invisible” ones.
By “visible,” I mean in the “Podcasts” list view under “[name]’s iPod” in the iTunes sidebar. If I select “[name]’s” iPod in the iTunes sidebar and the “Podcasts” tab, all podcasts and episodes are visible, though greyed out because I’m set to sync manually. It’s unclear to me if these are the podcasts on the iPod or those currently in iTunes, as they are currently the same. If I switch to syncing automatically, all content on the iPod will be lost again, so I’m not up to trying it at the moment.
As I said,  this involves only podcasts. All other content on the iPod does appear in iTunes.

I have the same problem- i see my movies in the ipod section in itunes and they even show as mpeg4 in the 'kind' section but they dont have that small TV icon next to them. if i play these in itunes, they play fine- but try playing them on the ipod and all you hear is the sound and no picture. All videos that i manually transfer work fine in the beginning- its when i hook up the ipod to the comp again and start itunes- they start showing up without the 'tv' icon!! i have to again transfer them from the itunes library to activate them as videos.

    Greetings Heather,
After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with the Podcasts app. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    How to restart
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on the top of your device until the red slider appears. Then drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
    How to reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

  • My iPod only downloads the first minute or so of podcasts

When I try to download podcasts directly to my iPod, it stops downloading early so I only get the first minute or so of each podcast. I don't leave my wifi network or turn off my iPod while they're downloading, and an error message never pops up, it just acts as if the download was complete. Is there anything I can do?

I've been having this same problem since I installed version 8.1 of iTunes. I have tried EVERYTHING to no avail, oh wait, things got worse. At first it was only songs I had downloaded since installing version 8 but now songs I rip from my CDs are skipping as well.
The only songs I have on my iPod are from iTunes or my own CDs.
I've tried the 5Rs more times than I can count now, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime multiple times, I've recreated my iTunes library multiple times, I've tried setting Gapless to yes for all songs, I've tried setting Gapless to no for all songs, nothing worked.
I was beginning to think it was my iPod's hard drive but it's not. I have an older version of iTunes on my laptop (8.0.2.20) so I loaded the same songs that were skipping when sync'd from ver 8.1. They don't skip when sync'd from the older version of iTunes.
Either something is wrong w/ 8.1.1.10 and my 5g iPod and 2g Nano or something happened during the install and I haven't been able to completely wipe iTunes and Quicktime before reinstalling them.
ps: I forgot to add that the songs play fine in iTunes and when I play them from the iPod through iTunes.

  • How Long does it take for a NEW PODCAST to appear in iTunes?

I was curious if maybe you know the answer to this question- How long does it take for a brand new podcast, once submitted to iTunes, to appear in the podcast section of iTunes? Does it really take 5 days? And, will I receive an email once it's on there? Thanks!
    -hdtvguru

    Hi,
I found the answer to this question after doing two podcasts.
It takes about week and half to be fully listed. When you first submit you receive an automated email. Emailed to the email address of your podcast feed. Then your podcast page is created for itune store and you receive another email that it's approved. You should receive this email sometimes two days after you received the first but it still won't be browse able until another few weeks(ie. listed in category). In the mean time don't remove your podcast feed file from your hosting account and don't make changes which will change the link to the feed you submitted.
The only other part I couldn't figure out was why podcasts episodes don't come up when keywords from episode sections of podcast feed are typed in itune search box.

  • Individual podcast episodes not appearing in iTunes but they're available to subscribers

Is there a way to resolve this problem? Just uploaded the second episode of my podcast. The podcast has an iTunes page and subscribers can download, but the individual episodes don't appear on the podcast's main page.
This is the rss link: http://spoilerpiece.libsyn.com/rss
And this is the link to the podcast in iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/spoilerpiece-theatre/id900473184?mt=2
I'm new to podcasting, so I've been reluctant to alter the feed on my own.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Dave

Your feed has two episodes. The latest was released only today, so it's too soon to expect to see it in the Store. The Store should be showing the first episode but though it says '1 item' it's not showing it.
You've fallen over a long-standing and intermittent bug in the Store where it claims to be showing the correct number of items but in fact either isn't showing any or isn't showing all of them, although all the episodes appear when subscribing. There isn't really anything you can do about this yourself as the problem lies with the Store, not your feed. It usually sorts itself out in a few days, but it's worth emaling Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and asking them to re-index your podcast as this may speed things up

  • Playlist only syncs 3 out of 10 songs

    Hi,
I have created a new playlist and while I see 10 songs in the playlist on my laptop when I get it to syn with my ipod I can only get 3 out of the 10 songs to appear on my ipod. Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help!

ok guys i have the same problem here! The subject line say 3 out 10 but in my case its hundreds of songs from multiple playlist that total up 22K songs on IPOD. I will write a few notes i have on this and see if anyone can help.
NOTE-My Itunes and IPOD playlist have previously always been sync'd exactly the same. I do not know exactly when the UN-SYNC began but i believe it was after ITUNES 10 upgrade.
NOTE-I have tried so many troubleshooting techniques but i can not find the culprit. At first i thought it was corrupt mp3 files but that was not it.
NOTE-There does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason for the issue regardless of bit rates, file size, encodings, etc..! I usually find work arounds with ITUNES/IPOD quirks, but this one has me stumped and Im so **** frustrated!!
Things tried - Restored an old library (Itunes 9) prior to ITUNES 10 upgrade. Result= NO change.
Things tried - Exported library, then wiped off old library, created NEW library and imported library. Result= NO change
Things tried - I was getting desperate so i decided to start a new library and recreate my library from scratch, in hopes of individually importing playlist. Anyone that has ever done this knows how much of a pain this can be especially with 56K songs not too mention all the wma to mp3 conversion times. Result= Well regardless of all the hope i had this would resolve the issue once and for all this was useless! It turns out for some reason Itunes 10 decided to rename the mp3 files it had converted from wma files differently than it had back in ITUNE 8 when i created the library years ago. Those of you that know how important file naming/paths is, understand this would have made my years of playlist worthless unless I went to each song and redirected the path.. NOT happening. Therefore I was so ****** I decide to scrap this test.(Guess this another separate issue i will look into)
Things tried - i have the same problem on two separate IPOD's, my 160Gig and my older 80Gig.
NOTE-After finding some of the songs that were not being sync'd i started to troubleshoot those, but the weird part is for some reason either by coincidence or something the particular song im investigating all the sudden sync's on IPOD and i did nothing to it. FYI - I had hit IPOD sync several times through the investigation so who knows if that had some sort of effect!!
Summary: I’ve given this due diligence and confident it is related to itunes10 upgrade. Help would be greatly appreciated.
I replied to an existing subject but might open a new one with better issue description
: Itunes won’t sync ALL playlist songs to IPOD

  • Hello i just came back from the apple store and they had to restore my phone and i just downloaded all my apps and music back but my photos that are on icloud i only got 80 out of 768 back. what do i do to get all of them back?

hello i just came back from the apple store and they had to restore my phone and i just downloaded all my apps and music back but my photos that are on icloud i only got 80 out of 768 back. what do i do to get all of them back?

If you tried to restore to your iCloud backup and your photos didn't fully restore, first go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and make sure it isn't still in the process of restoring.
If the restore is complete and all your photos weren't restored, all you can do is try restoring the backup again.  You might try the solution posted by ezjules in this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/19518589#19518589.  This involves opening the photos app after the phone restarts and you provide the passwords for your Apple IDs, then leaving it open for the remainder of the restore process.

  • Is iCloud really a backup service? Because I can only retrieve 60 out of my 600 photos.

Hi, my girlfriend was robbed of her iPhone and now we want to retrieve the pictures from iCloud to her new iPhone but it only retrieves 60 out of 600 from the Photo Stream. According to iCloud the latest backup was made 22nd of January.
Does it only retrieve from the last 30 days? (I read that somewhere)
If so: how can you call it a backup service?
And why is her 5 GB storage filled up if I only had 60 photos on there?
And why can't you just let the users browse among the backed up data. It is more likely that you look for single documents rather than your whole backup. Especially as you usually make backups on computers sometimes and fill your phone with new pictures and then there is no space to restore anymore.
It says - backup your photos - in your slogans and promotional texts. Perfect! - I thought.

If the songs play ok in iTunes make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Imported CD Songs Only Appear In iTunes, Not On iPod Nano

    Hi,
I bought my first iPod Nano, downloaded the iTunes software, and tried to import 2 songs from a cd. I have 2 issues which I need help with:
    1. These 2 songs imported perfectly into iTunes, just as the manual described. But these 2 songs don't appear in my iPod. Please offer help with how to import these 2 songs into my iPod instead of just having them appear on iTunes.
    2. Many additional songs (about 30?) somehow appeared on iTunes and were supposedly imported into my iPod. I unchecked each song and now these songs are off of iTunes. Why did these songs appear on iTunes in the first place? None of these 30+ songs are on the cd from which I unsuccessfully tried to import the 2 songs mentioned in question 1.
Thanks for any help which anyone can provide!
    ~ Mic.

Was your iPod connected to the computer already before you tried to import the two songs? If so thats why the songs didn't show up because the songs will only appear onto the iPod if you connect it to the computer after adding the songs. Plus the 30 songs that you said that showed up that weren't on the cd are most likely songs that you have saved on your computer with windows media player.
