• Have tried to use app tabs, but on right click, only "pin tab" shows

Using vista, installed ff4 today.
When trying to use app tab only "pin tab" shows on right click. It works just like it did in 3.6.

That is the app tab feature. You pin the tab, and it will remain open, even after you close your browser and reopen it again.

• Before every time I use to open a new tab it comes as top site. Now not anymore and instead is an automatically website calle Only Search. I went to Safari preference I change everything and when I quit Safari all the changes are gone.

Every time I used to open a new tab it comes as top site. Now not anymore , instead it open in a website called Only Search, I went to safari preferences and made all changes but after I quit Safari and open again all changes are gone. I can not change anything and new tab comes by it self with other website.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Downlite" or "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the support article, you may also need to remove this item in the same way:
~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This malware is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.

• Tabs for new windows no longer accumulate; only current tab shows. How do I get new sites on tabs?

Previously, tabs for new links showed at top of address bar and accumulated as I surfed. Now, only current site/window shows an accompanying tab. What happened to the tabbing process? Can't find an answer in Firefox Help. I have Windows 7. Thanks. Kusgol

I use that add-on. Works great.

• Unable to set cookie preferences in safari 5.1.5 by going to safari/preferences/privacy. It used to be there and now there is nothing showing under that tab.

I had looked at the cookies a couple of weeks ago. I deleted all cookies.
A few days ago my email was hacked into which sent a spam email to all my contacts. I changed my password to that account, warned everyone in my contacts, and haven't had a problem with email since.
However, I tried to do the 'delete all cookies' again and when I go to safari/preferences/privacy...there is nothing on that screen under that tab. Not even a question mark. I changed my history items to be removed every day from every week but don't think that would be the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Uninstall SIMBL as follows.
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar, then enter the following text in the box that opens:
/Library
A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Application Support/SIMBL
InputManagers/SIMBL.bundle
LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

• How can I get the book box in preferences' general tab to show up so I can start adding books to my ipad?

How can I get the book box in preferences' general tab to show up so I can start adding books to my ipad? I am running OSX 10.9 and Itunes version 11.1.3(8) 64 bit. I have tried re-installing Maveriks and reinstalling Itunes but the box for books is never there when I click on Preferences' General Tab.
I am unsure what to do. Please help.

There is no "book box in preferences' general".
There is a new iBooks application that appears on Mavericks' dock. It looks like this:
Go there to add books from your Mac to your iPad.

• Would like to change my home page. I click on options and my general tab is blank with only the ok and cancel buttons showing. How do I fix this?

In options, under the general tab, it is blank all except the ok and cancel buttons. I can't change my home page. Please help.

Hi cor-el,
Thank you for your reply. Before I had seen your reply. I went into options and under general, all of a sudden it showed what should be there. I closed browser and did it again and it didn't show. It has been blank for roughly two months. Just seems funny that I ask a question and after all this time of not showing what it should, it does, to only be blank again.
I have also been trying to update the flash player. That comes up completely blank as well with nothing showing at all. I did this several times the day before I posted my question. That same day I also hit the reset button for firefox when I was having trouble trying to update the flash player.
I did as you said to do. Nothing has changed. Is there something else that I could try?

• My Safari preferences menu does not show "security"

My Safari preferences menu does not show the option Security (only lettering types) wahat do I have to do?

Click the little "pill" icon (upper right of the window) to expand all the tabs.

• Unable to reset home page - no "general" tab in "Preferences"

Im attempting to reset my homepage from apple.com to Google. Help tells me to click "Preferences" from Safari file menu and then select the "General" tab. However, when I do this - there is no "General" tab - only settings for "Bookmarks".
There are no accounts on this macbook - no admin etc.
Im a total newcomer to Macs. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

Hi Encise,
Welcome to the Apple discussions forum for users to users.
Open Safari Preferences again ... now look for a little grey pill shape on the upper right corner, click on it. It's possible that all of the pictograms are hidden.
Good luck ...

• I don't want Safari to re-open all windows from last session; can't make it stop. Set Safari preferences to new window and new tab open with blank page, but it won't.

P.S. Also cleared cache and History. Running OS 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7.

I hate this "feature", and it is another example of Apple taking functionality (and choice) away from the user. In this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4550
there is a description of it.
Resume in OS X Lion
When you open Safari in Lion or restart the Mac, Safari automatically restores the open windows and tabs from your last browsing session, so you can continue right where you left off.
Tip: To open Safari without resume, hold down the shift key (⇧) as you open Safari. Safari will then open with the options you selected in the "General" tab of Safari preferences, options like your homepage.
In Mac OS X v10.6 and Microsoft Windows, you can choose to have Safari automatically restore your windows in the "General" tab of Safari preferences.
99 times out of 100, I DON'T want to restore all the windows from my last browser session. It makes zero sense for them to take the checkbox out of the General tab of the Safari Prefs.

• I can access the "Firefox Prefereences", but when the "about:preferences" starts, it will not let you access anything except the "General" tab.

All of the other "tabs" show up on the tab menu, but when you click on them, only the "General" tab will be there. You can make changes to the items in the "General" tab, but nothing else. I am using a HP Pavillion dv7 laptop, running Ubuntu 13.10, and Firefox 29. This only started with version 29. Before everything worked.

Works for me on Linux.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

• Safari Preference tabs missing

Okay I'm going nuts. When I go into safari preferences to make safari my default browser I have only the security pane. Which has enable java etc. It doesn't give me anything else. I used to have all the other tabs and I'm going crazy. Does anyone know what to do?

Quit safari. Delete the com.apple.Safari plist from Home/Library/Preferences. Also fill out your profile with the version of your OS and Safari.
