Only Getting 0.25 MB dload and 0.45 uload?

Hi,
For ages I couldn't get broadband because BT said that the exchange was eabled but our line could not support ADSL. In November they rang us and said that now we could get broadband, even though we thought it woudnt have worked because they had told us this before, it did. But since November, we have been having to use a 0.25 download speed and 0.45 upload. this seems crazy to me as, for a start, I am paying for total bb and only getting a fraction of what i should be getting, and secondly, my upload speed is faster than my doenload, surely, if my line can support a 0.45 upload (which is'nt bad at all for upload) then it can support at least that in download?
Nobody in customer support has a clue and all they have told me to do in the last 6 months is restart my router and check cables. They dont seem to understand the problem and I am at my wits end here, what can i do??
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

    Although I live near the cabinet and I am on Infinity 2 I only get a maximum of 30 Mbps download and less than 1Mbps upload. I've just checked and my modem is version 1B. Could this be the problem?

    Yes, this could be the famous known issue of where it gives you sucky speed until you reset the connection.
    BT know about this, have done for ages, seem unable to actually fix it.

    thank you for your response, i appreciate it.  there's definitely nothing wrong with the mouse or trackpad, both work fine in every other application....i can also easily change size dimensions in other programs on my computer so it doesn't seem to be that either.  it seems like there is something weird going on in the way that pse and my mac are interacting with each other, just wish i knew what it was.    thank you again, wish me luck!

  • My search bar (FF 22) has suddenly become inoperable; hitting enter doesn't do anything (am only getting to sites via bookmarks and links now)

    I'm a long-time FF user. Am using version 22 now (which appears to have updated from 18 by itself though I had it set to ask me before updating - but 22 2 worked fine for me once I'd solved the problem of screen being so large it hid my upper menu and tabs). Now suddenly, just in the last week, entering a (valid) url in the search bar and hitting enter doesn't 'do' anything. No search capability at all because hitting enter doesn't cause FF to take any notice of me putting in a URL for a site I want to go to (I use the same sites over and over so not just some new site acting up).
    Not my keyboard or mouse malfunctioning; they function as usual in other programs I use constantly - email, inventory database - and no updates on either program, in Word, Excel, NotePad, my photo program, whatever. Security Essentials updated about a week ago but I can't see inside it to see if it changed anything. Am an XP Pro user and keep it updated (till next year, anyway!). Keyboard is an Elite Real Force, mouse Evoluent (corded). Have used both for a couple of years so not new to me.
    Only way I can use FF 22 in the last few days to get to 'any' site, including my own, is to either go from the sites pinned to my opening screen or from my bookmarks. I tried unpinning some of the sites on my opening screen and then typing in their URL and hitting enter but that didn't change anything - the search bar is still inoperable and hitting 'enter' doesn't do anything at all.
    So why did my search bar quit working? Is there a fix?

    No, do not use the Reset feature. When you click "Show Folder" Windows opens a Windows Explorer window with your personal settings files listed. I want you to delete a file in that folder, but first, I want Firefox to be closed. When I said to switch back to Firefox and exit, I meant to make Firefox the active window, then use File>Exit or Firefox>Exit to close the application.

    Why is the signal at my home so much weaker than it was when I moved here in February 2013?  I get only one or two bars and very poor data service if any at all.  Calling to ask the question results in a vortex of questions that have little to do with the problem and no  resolution or answer.

    I have a Droid Ultra phone.  The signal reduction seems to only be in the general area of my home.  If I go downtown, the signal improves to what it once was at home.  Everything at my home is as it was when the signal was good, including cable TV service.  There has been no new construction in the area that I know of.
    Thanks for trying to resolve the issue.  Just this morning while trying to view web pages, I found that I could not load any.

    HI, I need help to transfer a vidoe from my laptop Windows XP to iPad3.  Installed iTunes.  Opened iTunes, Connected PC and iPad.  iTunes does not show iPad under a "Devices" category ? Why?? How do I transfer the vidoe.  PC does show pictures that are on the iPad when I open the iPad files.

    You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device.  If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match. 
    Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

    You could always sign-in to your account on another computer, but the sync requirement would cause you problems.

    As described in the User Guide, you'll need to restore your phone from the computer to which it was most recently synched.  All data from the time of the last backup to current will be lost.

  • Only getting 2 channel audio on NBC in Virginia

    Watching the NHL Winter Classic on NBC, and I'm only getting audio to my right and left channel, even though the receiver says the signal is a Dolby signal.  Other channels are working properly... not sure what the issue could be.  Tried disconnecting power from the tv box and rebooting it from scratch and it persists.
    Unsure if the issue lies in my receiver or in the signal from the Fios box to the receiver, but my guy feeling is that since other channels are working properly with surround sound, the problem is specific to the channel/signal from the FiOS box.  Anyone else having a similar issue or potential solution?

    In the User prefs, setup a 4 channel audio output from the last tab in the settings' window. Then from the on screen menu of the DSR, set it's audio mode to FS32K from FS48K...
    Be aware however you'll be recording 32 kHz audio not 48, so if you can live with that signal loss... this should work.

    I have an ATV2 hooked up to my Denon 789 AVR via optical cable, and the HDMI hooked directy to my HTDV.  My Denon is receiving the signal apparently as a PCM and thus, only receiving 2 channel.  When I stream an iTunes movie from my ATV2, I only get Dolby Pro Logic II, and not Dolby Digital.  When I go into the ATV2 settings and under Audio and Video set Dolby Digital from "Auto" to "On", I don't get any sound on my Denon 1910.  Any idea what's going on?
