Only hdmi or video component

hi all,
I have a tree year old philips tv, interlaced, no hdmi, no YCbCr component video (model:widescreen pixel plus 32pw9527/12)
is there a way to connect apple tv to my tv?
it seems apple tv can work also with 480i (www.rogueamoeba.com/utm/posts/Article/appleTV-2007-03-22-21-30) , although it is not mentioned in the apple site (http://www.apple.com/it/appletv/connect.html)
but european tvs like my one had (until tree year ago) only s-video, cvbs and and cvbs scart connection ports.
so probably my question is: is there a cheap way to convert hdmi or YCrCb into s-video or cvbs??
thanks everyone,
fabrizio
p.s. I understand the different quality of signals, but... did apple decide to invite people to buy a new tv? of course this is not what I will do if i will not find a solution...

so probably my question is: is there a cheap way to convert hdmi or YCrCb into s-video or cvbs? Not cheap, but here are a couple of boxes that are supposed to work:

  • Apple Video Component Cable only for audio

I want to buy an Apple Video Component Cable to use it with an iPhone 3GS and also with an iPod 5G.
The cable will be connected to the TV and to the audio receiver.
I know that this cable is not compatible with the iPod 5G, but in this case I only want to use it to listen to music. Therefore, only audio with iPod 5G, audio/video with iPhone 3GS.
Does anyone know if using this cable, despite the fact that video won't work on iPod 5G, audio will work fine on iPod 5G?
I'd like to know that before I buy it.
    Thanks!
    Andrés

    I'll answer my self.
Yes, it does play music on the iPod 5th gen.

  • Just bought Apple TV. Our Hi Def TV only has S Video or RCA outlets. Can we use the Apple TV?

Just bought Apple TV. Our high def tv only has S Video or RCA connectors. Can we use the Apple TV? Thanks

Apple TV only supports HDMI. It doesn't sound like it is an HDTV, even if you use an adapter there is no guarantee it would work and even then you would not be able to watch HDCP content (i.e. iTunes, Netflix etc).
If the TV is not widescreen and/or doesn't support at least 720P you will also have issues around that.

  • Video Component in 5.5

    Hi -
I am trying to use the OOTB Video component in 5.5. I have installed ffmpeg. I am overriding the arguments to it by using the custom arguments only in the etc/dam/video/hq.html. This is what I have in custom arguments --b:v 64k -threads 2
When I upload a test video to hq.html and run the transcoding, i get no errors. When I add that video to DAM, it also transcodes properly (atleast it throws no errors) and I see ogg,flv and the thumbnail created. However, when I drag that video into a video component on a page, it drops ok, but does not play at all. Is there a problem with the transcoding (even though I get no errors)? The documentation does not specigy which version of ffmpeg to install, so i have installed the latest. I have also tested with mp4 and a .mov file and get the same result. Is there something wrong with the codecs I am using? What codecs should I be using? Thank you for your time.

I noticed that you did not mention the h.264 (m4v or mp4) rendition (from the High Quality H.264 profile) being generated. Might be an issue with ffmpeg for just this encoding - but you should see that in the error log. You'll need this profile rendition for Safari and Chrome (and for the hq Flash fallback for older browsers).
Otherwise: did you define the profiles to be used for the video component in the design dialog of the video component? The ootb geometrixx design uses "High quality h.264" and "Firefox HQ ogg".

  • Where's the new video component?

I just installed the 9.0.2 update (on my Mac Pro) which is
supposed to have a new video component that allows the use of h.264
video. However, there doesn't seem to be any new components and the
old FLYPlayback component still doesn't recognize anything other
than a .flv file. Is there a problem with the updater or am I
    missing something here?

    > try using NetStream/NetConnect on a video object. I
    haven't
    > tried this yet, but give it a shot.
That's a good thought, and it certainly does work with a
    Video object
and AS3. However, I did try this with the FLVPlayback
    component and, well
... it works -- but it's not especially intuitive. Not an
    ideal situation,
    unfortunately.
For one, it's difficult to browse for the non-FLV file (in
    my case, an
MP4). Why? Because the file filter only looks for FLVs. I'm
    on a Windows
machine, so I just typed *.* into the "File name" field of
    the browse
dialog. That overrides the "Files of type" filter and that's
    when I was
able to see my MP4s. After that, I selected my video file by
double-clicking on it. That updated the FLVPlayback.source
    parameter to the
file path, as expected, but after I clicked OK (after a
    verrrrrry long
pause), Flash gave me an error message, saying "Failed to
    load FLV: [name of
file]." ("Hmm," I thought, "that would be because I didn't
    ask for an FLV
file.") But I tested the SWF anyway, and the thing played
    just fine. Which
means the IDE is now capable of using the latest Flash Player
    to display (to
test, versus debug) SWFs. That part is good. I would have
    expected the IDE
not to have such a hard time with it, though.

  • Is it possible to update only the Shared Install component?

We are running MDM 7.1 with all components at 7.1.06.211.  We opened an OSS ticket due to an issue with CCMS monitoring and SAP told us to upgrade the MDM Shared Install component to at least 7.1.06.230.  We want to use sapinst --> update to apply the patch but cannot find a way to select only the shared install component.  Is the correct procedure to:
    1. In sapinst on the "Update - MDM Instances" screen, select  "Update all MDM instances of the SAP system" (MDS00, MDIS01, MDSS02)
    ...and then...
    2. In sapinst on the "Update - Content Archives" screen, extract only the shared.sar archive and deselect the others (mds.sar, mdis.sar, mdss.sar).
Will this procedure update the shared installation component only and not the others?  Is this possible?  If not, will all of the other components have to be updated even though SAP said to update only the shared installation component?
We have searched OSS and SDN but cannot find a clear explanation of how this should work.  Note 1481741 states that all components within the same SP level (e.g. 7.1.06.xx) are compatible and recommends upgrading only the component affected by the fix, which is what we want to do.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    WL

Camoracer got it - my work computer has limited hardware/system resources. It can handle iTunes audio, but iTunes video slows it to a crawl and makes it so I can't get any work done. There are video podcasts I'd like to listen to at work, but can't for that reason. So I'd like to just play the audio stream from the podcast while disabling the video stream. The video portion isn't necessary anyway, it's usually just a talking head and not anymore informative than the audio portion alone.

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 12025: Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF .

    Revision: 12025
    Revision: 12025
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-11-19 17:48:04 -0800 (Thu, 19 Nov 2009)
    Log Message:
Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF.  Also fixing RSL issue with OSMF because a change in flex-config.xml accidentally got overwritten.  Also fixing a bug caught during the last code review where you would set the volume on the VideoPlayer, but the volumeBar wouldn't be made aware of that change.
Switching out the video component results in many API changes.  The changes are highlighted below:
    Class name changes:
    - spark.primitives.VideoElement is being renamed to spark.components.VideoDisplay
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamingVideoSource is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoSource
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamItem is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoItem
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer event changes:
The new video component's events are:
    - bytesLoadedChange : org.osmf.events.LoadEvent
    - currentTimeChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - durationChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - mediaPlayerStateChange : org.osmf.events.MediaPlayerStateChangeEvent
The old video component's events were:
    - close : spark.events.VideoEvent (removed)
    - complete : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - metaDataReceived : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - playheadUpdate : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with currentTimeChange)
    - progress : flash.events.ProgressEvent (replaced with bytesLoadedChange)
    - ready : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer property changes:
    Renames:
    - maintainAspectRatio:Boolean has been renamed to scaleMode:String and rather than true/false, it now access 4 values: none, zoom, letterbox, and stretch.  See the enum class org.osmf.display.ScaleMode.
    - playheadTime:Number has been renamed to currentTime:Number
    - playWhenHidden has been renamed to pauseWhenHidden, and it's "tense" has been reversed.  So playWhenHidden = true correlates to pauseWhenHidden = false.  Also, before we would only pause when the video component was explcitly set to visible=false, but now we detect if the video components or any of it's ancestors have been hidden.
    - totalTime:Number has been renamed to duration:Number
    New properties:
    - bytesLoaded:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - bytesTotal:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - loop: Boolean this was a property added a while ago on the old video component but not in the original video player spec
    - mediaPlayerState: this is a new property that details the state of the video component.  See org.osmf.media.MediaPlayerState for all the possible values.
    - seekToFirstFrame:Boolean (pending PARB approval) - This is a new property available on VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer.  When autoPlay = false, if seekToFirstFrame is set to true, then we will connect to the server to start downloading the video, figure out the size of the video and resize appropriately, and show the first frame of the video.  If seekToFirstFrame is false, then no connection to the server is made, there's no implicit size for this video, and the first frame will not be show automatically.  By default the value of this property is true.  In the old video component, when autoPlay = false, we always has the same behavior as seekToFirstFrame = true.  Now it is controllable through this property.  Eventually, (not for Flex 4.0), we will most-likely have support for a thumbnail source or a splash screen so the video's preview will show up without making an unneeded connection to the server.  The property name may change depending on PARB.
    Other changes:
    - autoRewind: The default of autoRewind is now true instead of false
    - enabled: before we paused the video when the video component was explicitly set to enabled = false.  Now we pause the video when the video component or any of it's ancestors have been disabled.
    VideoPlayer-only changes:
    - videoObject:flash.media.Video property is now a new property on VideoPlayer.  It was previously only on VideoDisplay.
    - The skin states for the old VideoPlayer were: connectionError, disabled, disconnected, loading, playing, stopped, connectionErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen, disconnectedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, stoppedAndFullScreen.  The new skin states are: uninitialized, loading, ready, playing, paused, buffering, playbackError, disabled, uninitializedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, readyAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, pausedAndFullScreen, bufferingAndFullScreen, playbackErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen
    DynamicStreamingVideoItem property changes:
    - bitRate:Number renamed to bitrate:Number
    DynamicStreamingVideoSource property changes:
    - initialIndex has been added to DynamicSteramingVideoSource
    - live:Boolean has changed to streamType:String which accepts values: live, recorded, any.  See the enum class org.osmf.net.StreamType for more info.
    - serverURI:String renamed to host:Object
    - streamItems:Array has changed types to streamItems:Vector.
ScrubBar property changes (THESE CHANGES ARE NOT DONE YET, BUT SHOULD BE DONE SOON)
    - bufferedStart will be removed
    - bufferedEnd will be renamed to loadedRangeEnd.  This property name still may change depending on PARB.
    - bufferedArea skin part needs to be renamed.  Probably will be renamed to loadedArea.  PARB still deciding.

  • Wrong layering/depth of video component after re-activate on Nexus 7

    Hi,
With Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and AIR 3.4 or AIR 3.5 (air 3.5.0.520 - beta version 24 oct 2012),
the video component appears on top of the display when you  re-activate the application.

In our player when a user, via a click through video advert launches a browser instance/window and then closes the browser or presses back button to return to the application. The video layer (display object) that wraps OSMF is now rendered at the top of the Flash display stack preventing all other views from being seen. It only happens when a click through opens a browser. Closing or backgrounding the application in any other way behaves as expected.

I've had several questions on this forum for over 3 weeks -

more money to someone to do it for me -
I did - and am still screwed.
I have serious content - and (after my phone call to Adobe

  • USB 3.0 to HDMI External Video Card USB32HDE Mountain lion?

    Hey!
I bought one of those USB 3.0 to HDMI External Video Card Multi Monitor Adapter (USB32HDE) and read it should work on MACBOOK Air before purchase. However at the same time i installed mountain lion and it seems nothing is happening?
Do anyone have an idea if its due the Mountain lion or it just dont work on macbooks at all?
    thanks guys!

TL;DR, J5Create has a similar device to the StarTech USB32HDE called the JUA 350. So similar in fact, they use the same drivers, and J5Create distributes the OS X drivers.
Hi, I found this post through Google and thought I'd provide my solution for anyone else who runs into this. I also bought a StarTech USB32HDE for my Air, which was not my smartest purchase ever since I can now clearly see that StarTech only officially supports Windows, supplying a zip file containing drivers from a company called Trigger. Thankfully, while I was looking at alternatives in preparation to return the USB32HDE, I found the J5Create JUA 350, which looks almost identical. On a whim I decided to grab the JUA 350 drivers and give them a shot. When I opened the dmg, lo and behold, the drivers provided were also by Trigger, specifically 1.0b11 for Lion/Mountain Lion, and after a restart they're working perfectly with the USB32HDE so far. So while I wouldn't recommend it, my bet is these devices are actually the same, and hopefully this helps anyone else who makes the same inadvisable purchase.

  • SiteCatalyst video component

I read through the analytics on OTB video component http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/administering/integrating_with_omniture/sitecatalyst .html and trying to emulate the same in our custom video component. I copied the analystics node from /libs/foundation/components/video/analytics to /apps/lexmark/homesite/components/video/analytics. When I include my video component to my SiteCatalyst framework, my video component only shows eventdata.videoName, eventdata.videoFileName and eventdata.videoFilePath as cq;variable. But when I include OTB video component on my SiteCatalyst framework, I see an additional dialog selection for 'Tracking method:' and 'Tracking offset' and tons of additional variables.
I compared my analytics node with OTB video component, they are identical as that node is a copy. They both have in analytics node - cq:trackOffsetMilestones, cq:trackvars, cq:whatToTrack with same values.
Why do I not see that additional selection dialog to select 'Tracking method:' and 'Tracking offset' and tons of additional variables?

I noticed that you did not mention the h.264 (m4v or mp4) rendition (from the High Quality H.264 profile) being generated. • Windows 8.1 update only hdmi monitor detected 2 dvi monitors undetected

Updated Windows 8 to 8.1 and have 3 monitors on Geforce 660ti video card. Since update only hdmi monitor detects. Have updated all video card drivers and clean installed multiple times but still same problem. Can unplug hdmi monitor and get nothing. Plug
it in and that monitor works but nothing on dvi monitors.

    Hi,
Check whether the monitor is detected by the computer according to this method:
Go to control panel, then go to hardware and sound, click the display.
Then click Change display settings at the left panel, just like the picture shown as below, then click Detect.
There should be all the monitors listed, meanwhile I suggest to go to the official website of your computer motherboard producer and download and install the BIOS version accordingly.
