Only Illustrator CS2 won't install

Hello-
I just got a   new computer and went to install my copy of CS2.  However, everything  installs EXCEPT Illustrator.  All of the other components work, but  Illustrator does not install.  When I go to reinstall, the installer  recognizes that Illustrator is not installed and proposes installation  of specific components (i.e. Ilustrator).  I go through everything and  once again, no Illustrator.
Anybody have any ideas?
It's the mac version and the new comp. is a MacBook Pro (newest version).

No, there are no error messages.. it just doesn't install Illustrator.  If I try to reinstall, Illustrator is there checked as selected component for a partial install.
I uninstalled everything, then reinstalled and got the same problem.  No Illustrator....
I *really* need it in the short term to alter a publications submission that is due.  Any ideas?

  • Illustrator update won't install, even after uninstalling and retrying multiple times.

    Illustrator update won't install, even after uninstalling (using the "Uninstall Adobe Illustrator CS6" app and retrying (using Adobe Application Manager}multiple times. Now I can't open AI CS6 at all.
    The error message I get in Application Manager is:
    "Application could not be found. Restore in case it was trashed/moved to a different volume. Reinstall the application otherwise (U44M1P2B)"
    Help!

    Can you please try installing the Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774.
    If that doesn't work then the safest course would be to remove all Adobe Creative Software using the uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.  This should then remove the Adobe Application Manager folder also inside Utilities.  Once the software is completely uninstalled and the Adobe Application Manager is removed then you should be able to reinstall from https://creative.adobe.com/.

  • Illustrator CS2 won't open - PLEASE help!

    I have been using Adobe Illustrator CS2 for many years now and never had a problem..
    I tried opening Illustrator CS2 today and after waiting an unusually long amount of time for the application to open, an error message appeared that said "A serious issue has ocurred. Please Reinstall application."  I reinstalled the entire CS2 and I am still encountering the same issue.
    I have a new MacBook Pro and have used Illustrator on this computer multiple times.  This is the first time I have had problems on this or any computer.  PLEASE HELP

    Sine the CS2 package is over 5 years old you were probably just lucky it worked for as long as it did. I'm not too sure but I think you might need to run it under Rosetta (if it is installed). Do a Get Info on the application and see if the option to run under Rosetta is there.

  • Illustrator CS2 won't execute scripts under Vista.

    Dear group.
    I would like to hear if anyone has experienced weird behaviors by Illustrator CS2 when running scripts (written in JavaScript) under Windows Vista? By "weird" I mean that at the execution of the code, it may complain that a closing bracket is missing and other errors. It seems to run fine when executing the script in ExtendScript Toolkit, and Illy CS2 didn't exhibit such problems under WinXP SP2.

    I'm no system expert, Mylenium.  Here's what I can tell you: yes, I did try the installation as the administrator.  No luck.  Didn't know to turn off aero or switch to a different theme, so haven't tried that.  Don't know what UAC is, so can't (yet) turn it off.  Here's the thing: all of the other parts of the suite installed.  The setup.ini file for both Illustrator CS2 and InDesign CS2 contains the following:
    [SupportOS]
    Win95=1
    Win98=1
    WinME=1
    WinNT4=1
    Win2K=1
    InDesign installed; Illustrator did not because the OS "was not supported," or words to that effect.  Unless "WinNT4" is code for Windows XP, these programs shouldn't have installed on an XP system, yet they did.
    System CPU is an AMD Phenom 9600 quad-core.   6 GB RAM.  What else would you need to know?

  • Illustrator CS2 won't shut down in Windows XP

    Hi,
    For some reason I'm experiencing trouble getting Adobe Illustrator CS2 to shut down in Windows XP. Everything in the program works smoothly, but when it comes time to close my file and exit the program it just hangs. I can't access the Illustrator drop down menus or taskbar at the bottom of my screen and need to do an 'end task' (force quit) using the task manager.
    Does anyone have any ideas for how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks for your time,
    Bentley

    I've been having the same problem just in the last few days (WIN XP SP2, CS2, plenty of drive space, etc.)
    Thought it was my update to Norton 360. Saw another post that seemed to eliminate Norton as culprit.
    Stumbled across this fix tonight. Seems to be working each time:
    1) Close all AI files
    2) Copy some small text (from any program it seems -- I used email text and then tried the AI HELP>System info>Copy to clipboard)
    3) Exit AI via any option -- AI should close immediately
    The copy to clipboard seems to release something AI can't dump on exit.
    Interesting to see if others get same repeated results.

  • 13.0.1 Illustrator update won't install

    Adobe Updater continually opens and attempts to update my copy of Illustrator with the 13.0.1 updater, but fails each time with a notification that the update cannot be applied to program installed. I have Illustrator 13.0.0 installed on a Mac G5 Dual Processor PPC running OS 10.5.8.
    I have also downloaded the updater DMG and have received the same error message --- that it cannot update the installed program (Illustrator 13.0.0).
    Is this update limited to Intel based machines? Does anyone else have a problem installing this update?
    Thanks.
    Daniel

    The Auto Updater has kicked in twice and failed to install the update 13.0.1, and I have downloaded the DMG directly from Adobe, which has also failed to update my copy of Illustrator. I'm  not sure where else to get the update. I do know that the update was posted on the Adobe site in July 2007 and my OS version updated in August 2009.
    It seems strange as well that the Adobe Updater took nearly 2 years to advise me that an update is available.
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on MacBook Pro (Core2Duo)

    I made the mistake of letting my new MacBook Pro copy the files and applications from my PowerBook G4 last night, and Photoshop failed to copy. I figured that was no big deal as I was purchasing another license for the new system anyway. Now that I've tried to install the new software, the install repeatedly fails.
    I've followed the tech information from Adobe and removed the old photoshop files/directories from the new system, and then attempted the install again. It fails each time before installing bridge.
    Has anyone else figured out how to get CS2 to install on the latest MacBook Pro systems? Any suggestions are appreciated.

    Samuel, this won't help you, but it may help some others.
    I had CS2 installed on my good old TiBook 400MHz, and it worked fine there. When I got my new MBP C2D 2.33 yesterday, I followed the instructions for connecting via FireWire, and after 2 hours, everything copied over just fine. So far, everything works fine too, which is really amazing to me, including the Adobe CS2 applications.
    I did make sure that my old TiBook was up-to-date, and ran Mac Janitor on it, and fixed permissions. That may have made the difference.
    The only things which don't run now are the old OS9 applications, and Final Cut Express 3.0 (but there is a work-around using the esc key).
    Hope this is encouraging to someone who is thinking about gettig a MBP C2D.

  • My Photoshop cs2 won't install

    I used photoshop cs2 on my last computer, and now i've got a mac. But photoshop won't get installed. When I press finish it just fail every time. What should I do?

    If you mean you have a new Mac then CS2 is far too old to be useable. CS2 is only compatible with old PowerPC Macs and won't work at all on Intel Processor Macs.

  • Illustrator CS2 won't UNinstall

    I am having some screwy problems with my Illustrator so I want to get rid of it and then try re-installing it. BUT I am trying to uninstall AI cs2 on my PC and it won't let me.  It says "setup will allow you to uninstall AI if you click next to continue"  When I click next it then says "the wizard was interrupted when trying to completely install CS2.  Your system has not been modified.  To complete installation at another time run setup again"  Why can't I get my computer to unistall AICS2 completely.  What does this mean.

    I hate to bring up information from outside of the adobe forums but have you tried the steps in this potential solution?:

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on MacBook Pro, 10.4.6

    I have a 15 inch, 2.0 ghz MacBook Pro running 10.4.6. At this point I have installed all of the current Apple software updates.
    I'm trying to install Photoshop CS2 and the installer hangs up and freezes the entire screen (although I can move the mouse) at the very beginning of the installation. The installer reads "Running Installation Script". The only way out is to do a hard reboot.
    I've searched this forum and the Adobe forum and can't find any work arounds. On the Adobe forum it was suggested to do a clean install of OS X and it should work. I'd like to avoid that because of the time and possible loss of data.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Yup ... same for me. Both PS and Common Files are greyed out and I can't uncheck anything.
    Also, I did verify the disk permissions; created a different account; and even booted in Safe Mode.
    It looks like Adobe is using the "we don't support Intel Macs yet" line so any fix for this may need to come from Apple.
    I do have PS 7 running (I didn't install it on the MacBook, it ported over from my old machine when I set the new machine up) so I'm not completely dead. Sure wish I could use Adobe Bridge though.
    EDIT: I just found this on the Adobe forum:
    "Apprently there are some problems with the QT7.1 update.
    Unfortunately, the only solution is to reinstall your OS and then install every update other than QT7.1. "

    It will. You can't install CS2 after installing CS3 or 4. Doesn't work. Uninstall the CS4 and dump all files, esp shared libs. You may have to use the CS4 Clean Script to remove all the associated parts.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on a Powerbook

    I've been trying to install PS CS2 all day today and it keeps failing. It'll get through the welcoming and licensing process, but once I authenticate, the installer prepares my volume and then stop immediately after the installer script begins to run. The following message is shown in the installer window:
    There were errors installing this software
    Please try installing again.
    I checked the installer log and it shows that my volume is not supported:

    I tried all the suggestions by Adobe, (removing fonts, reboot with extensions off, disconnected all external devices) and I tried to install this on a iBook and an external volume, but still no luck.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    After talking to Adobe's help desk and trying several things that didn't work, I went back to the install log. Specifically the part that said the target disk wasn't supported. I replaced by internal drive about a year ago, because it was failing, and I formatted the new drive as Case Sensitive Journaled". The Adobe tech said that that wouldn't be the problem, but after a Google search on Case Sensitive Journaled (CSJ), I found several cases of install errors of Adobe Creative Suite when attempting to install on a drive formated as CSJ.
    I made a disk copy of my drive using Carbon Copy Cloner then, using Disk Utility from the install disk, reformatted my drive and restored it from the disk image. Rebooted and all worked well, even the install of PSCS2. As a bonus, my copy of Macromedia Contribute now works again. Go figure....
