Only latest Mac version of FireFox doesn't render images from certain websites correctly. How to fix?

Running FireFox 3.6.16 on both Windows 7 sp1 and Mac OS 10.6.7. When viewing the images on some websites, for example the home screen for www.xerox.com, the "slide show" images that come across the browser on the Mac have lines going through the images. These same images look fine on Windows 7 and when using other browsers, such as Safari, Explorer, etc too.

Hello mpunt74, try to [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_turn-off-hardware-acceleration turn off hardware acceleration], and check it again.

  • How can i make firefox not load images from certain websites permanantly

I am unable to block images on certain websites permanently. However, I can block images temporarily for a session through Option > Content > Load images automatically but whenever i clean the browser history or close down firefox the customized list that i entered disappear and i am back to square and again manually enter websites one by one and the same thing happens again.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the <b>about:permissions</b> page.
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the "Site Preferences"
*Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • Firefox doesn't show text on certain websites.

On several websites that I visit regularly (e.g. Autosport.com) Fiefox will not display text whilst other browsers do. This is very frustrating because I much prefer Firefox!
I have screenshots of Firefox v IE but apparently I can't post them until I have a received a reply.

How safe is it to delete Lucida Grande from my Windows Fonts folder?
    </blockquote>
I think it depends on how it got there. If it was dropped by Safari for Windows, which is no longer a product that Apple supports, I think it's safe to remove. If it belongs to some other software, then that software might object to losing the font. I'm not sure of the best way to determine that. I suppose you could hedge your bets by dragging it into a different folder so Windows just doesn't see it.

  • Everytime I click on the icon, I get an error message. Firefox doesn't even load. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Firefox won't open at all.
Error Meassage: Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts. Unfortunately the crash reporter is unable to submit a crash report. Details: The application did not leave a crash dump file.
I've restarted my computer and I've tried a system restore. I've also unintstalled and reinstalled firefox.
Sometimes, I may get the crash report, but if I click Restart Firefox, that error message will just pop up.

  • Where is the latest STABLE version of Firefox?

I want the latest STABLE version of Firefox. I'm not interested in BETA versions. But, Mozilla is doing a good job of hiding the latest stable version and forcing customers into its ever-changing unstable Beta system. Can anyone tell me which version of Firefox is the newest STABLE version; and where can I find it? Thank you for your assistance!

If you are getting updates in Firefox to a Beta build (of 34.0bx) then you installed what was one of the Beta builds of a version in past (to be on Beta channel) and not a Release before. There are on average six to twelve Beta builds for a version with nine being the average in last while.
'''on www.mozilla.org only the current Release is served''' as you would have to go out of way to a page that serves Beta builds to then download them. Mozilla would never force people to use one of the Beta builds for a version instead of Release.
The current Beat build of a version is only on and is clear it is not the Release.

Firefox 34.0 is scheduled for release on November 25.

  • Firefox doesn't represent parts of some pages correctly, or doesn't represent parts of some pages at all.

Firefox doesn't represent parts of some pages correctly, or doesn't represent parts of some pages at all. The page [http://osvajalec.si http://osvajalec.si] is not represented correctly. See screenshots: [http://yfrog.com/eumissingxtjx http://yfrog.com/eumissingxtjx] Deleting cookies, disabling Adblock & Noscript and restarting computer/browser didn't help. When I'm not logged in or if i log out, the missing part is not missing. IE is representing the page without problems. :/

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer).
Check on the Network tab if any content is blocked and has a file size 0 (zero).

  • I updated to the latest version of Safari now I cannot log into certain websites like my online banking.  How do I revert back to an older version?

I updated to the latest version of Safari now I cannot log into certain websites like my online banking.  Another reason I loved using this computer was autofill, now that does not work the same either, I have to respond twice to get my info to fill in.  I fill out many forms in a day and this change has been so bad that I have downloaded Mozilla Firefox to use instead.  I hope apple fixes these issues but until then how do I revert back to an older version of Safari?

    Quit Safari.
    Open Keychain Access   /Applications/Utilities
Select Passwords on the left. Delete any keychains for sites you have problems logging into.
Relaunch Safari. Go to Safari / Preferences - Autofill. Make sure all three boxes are selected.
Now navigate to a site, login with your user name and password. You should be prompted to save that data to a new keychain. Click Yes.
If you still have problems, go to ~/Library/Cookies. Move the Cookies.plist file to the Trash.
~ (Tilde) represents your Home folder.
Try logging into a site again.

  • Firefox 13 only displays a white box instead of an image on certain websites

Firefox 13 is only displaying a white box where the picture should be. This is happening on different websites, but I will include a link to the latest one for me. Internet Explorer displays the image just fine:
    http://www.bostonproper.com/product/Asymmetrical-hem-maxi-dress/836602/sc/169/c/169/pc/44.uts
You should see a large image of a woman in a red dress on the page, not a white box. I have tried clearing the cookies and cache, I have the settings to allow images from this website and nothing is working. The trouble seems to have started when I updated to Firefox 13.

I completed the steps in the article and disabled the Real Player plug in. That did the trick and Firefox 13 is now displaying the images correctly. I am wondering if these issues will be fixed in the future because I do use Real Player quite a bit. Thank you so much for the help!

  • Firefox doesn't render my web page correctly other browsers do

Hi My website works correctly in IE9, Safari, Opera and Chrome but Firefox doesn't render my Contacts page correctly. The contact form position is wrong and the navigation does not work for the Contacts page. The only issue is with Firefox which fails to render the Contacts page correctly. Both HTML and CSS validate.
    The website is http://www.pcwebsite.org.uk

thanks you for the link. I'll try that option next. But clearly since:
    Internet Explorer 9,8, even 7
    Chrome
    Safari
    and Opera
render the webpage correctly and there is no issue with validation of both HTML and CSS, then surely Firefox is not working to industry standards.
I can use any browser I care to but I can't control what browser my potential clients use.
"I'm not sure if this is caused by the floating sidebar content as a style rule of clear:both or clear:left partially fixes this at least horizontally (it is still off to the left)."
There is nothing wrong with the code is there as it works perfectly with the other browsers listed above? Maybe I should put the whole web page in a table.

I had all photos on a Windows desktop.  Got a mac laptop, installed LR5, and put all images from Windows onto an external hard drive.  When I go to import them into LR on the mac, they are all locked.  Help, please!

"I plugged the external into the Mac and moved a folder of images onto the desktop.  It looks like it went from read only to not locked.  Is this possible?"
Yes, that's exactly what happened. If you buy another drive, you could copy from your existing drive to the new and your files will be read/write. The new drive will have to be formatted as an HFS drive (that's the Mac's format). If you need to format it, you use Disk Utility which is in the Utilities folder on your Mac. Be careful with that -- it wipes out whatever is currently on the drive. Make sure you format the right drive.
I keep all my images on an external drive, too. In fact, I have two matching drives and sync them so I always have a backup.

On my mac, photoshop cc "save as" removes capture date from exif data. How do I prevent this?

You had to reinstall CS6 after cancelling the CC as both were from the same Adobe ID. You can always use & keep both CC & CS6 together.

  • I am new to Mac and am having trouble with uploading images from my pictures folder to Facebook and other share sites- some of my images are accessible while others are seemingly locked....

I am new to Mac and am having trouble up loafing images from my pictures folder to photography sites and Facebook. Some of the saved images are accessible, while others are not, ( they are light colored and cannot be uploaded) I am not saving them any differently.

    Hi Robodisko,
    Thanks for your prompt reply......
I often proof my work in preview then edit images in photoshop and rename from there.  The dsc images are renamed to correlate the name of the class etc.  i.e. dcs_001 is saved as the file name required 7A.jpeg etc.
The file names are required to correlate what is what and so on..........

My iphone 5 can't tethering to my mac by cable, because it's not recognized as connected, someone knows how to fix it?

Is the device reasonably well changed and active on the same Wi-Fi network?
If you need to connect the USB cable wrap the end of the USB connector in some thin tape to stop it getting caught or use a USB extension cable.
