any ideas ?

Hello eliuha, welcome to Lenovo forum!
As a first suggestion restart your system. Sometimes the sound "hangs" especially after sleep or hibernation mode
Please tell us your type, model number, not S/N, and used OS please.

  • My MacBook Air headphone jack only left channel works

Builtin speakers are working fine on my MBA 2012, but when I plug any kind of headphone into the jack, only left channel works. If I tune output balance to right, then sound nothing.
I found there are only four metal contacts in the jack, two on each side, then one for ground, the other one for left channel, none for right channel,  what about yours?

At last, found it isn't a problem, actually any 3.5mm headphone of standard can work, just plug into the jack fully ( only one mm left ) .  enjoy ~~

  • Arcam rDac plays only left channel. OSX is 10.7.4 and iTunes 10.6.1. Have somebody similar problem ?

I have usb audio dac Arcam rDac and Mac mini 2011. Everythings was working without problem, but propably after  upgrade OSX on 10.7.4 and iTunes 10.6.1 Arcam plays only left channel. Have somebody similar problem and sollution ? Thank you very much for your help.

    Did you solve your problem?
I have the same rDAC and Macbook pro. And I have sound in both channels, but I have popping and crackling distorted sounds at low frequencies, in left channel.  Very very annoying. I have looked at every forum, and it seems like Mac has this problem very often, and there is no viable solution so far.
Like many others, I too am very disappointed with this very expensive computer I bought only 4 months ago.

  • Imported DV plays only left channel audio

In working with iMovie HD 6, I've imported video from my DV camera and I'm only getting sound from the left channel (I used a lapel mic plugged into the camera while I was recording). Is there a way to mix the left channel audio into stereo, or at least two channel mono so that my movie and subsequent DVD project will play sound in both channels? I'd prefer to run the fix within iMovie, but will consider exporting if necessary. I can't recreate the original interview without a lot of work.

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
Yep, you can do it in GarageBand, just setting it to move the mono channel into both channels.
Or you could use the free, downloadable "Audacity", and just select the left channel, then copy it, and paste it into the empty right channel, like this.
However, to use the wonderful "Audacity", you've got to find your original audio in iMovie, then remove it from within its hidden storage, whereas GarageBand just "knows" where to find the audio if you send your movie there, so click on Share and then GarageBand, where you can select the Movie Sound track, and just turn the little 'panning' control, in the Mixer column, to the centre.

  • Logic Express Presonus Firebox only left channel output in phones

I upgraded from GarageBand. I have a 17" MacBookPro and a Personus Firebox. I configured the AudioMidi Preferences on the Mac to the Firebox for input and output. When I play back a mono track I only hear the left channel in the phones. I am panned to center. In GarageBand when I configure the Mac as the Audio Driver I hear my mono mix in both L and R phones which is what I want.
Also, in Logic Express, I get no sound when I configure the audio out to the Mac. It needs to be routed to the Firebox.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Jonathan

Thanks for the advice. I tried listening to a song from my itunes library, not using Logic and I still heard just one channel. The culprit must be a faulty connection in the Firebox.

  • Capturing only left channel of audio

Probably not a great combination using Premiere Pro cs3 for about the 3rd or 4th time (after years of 6.5) and using the church's sony camera that I am unfamiliar with - but here goes:
When I play the video back on the camera, the sound is in stereo, however when I capture it, it only plays back and captures the left channel. I didn't have this issue with my own camera, so it may be a camera issue. I can't figure out/find the model of the camera, but it is a Sony HDV running in DV mode. The sound was recorded in 48K stereo. Any thoughts/help is appreciated.
    Bob

    OK.
Start a new Premiere project and use that to test capture again.

  • Keynote Audio only left channel

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?  I am using an M Audio Fastback USB input to record to Keynote and the audio is only recording to the left channel/speaker.  Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    System Properties >  Sound
in the output tab, select Fast Track USBand centre the Balance slider
in the input tab, select Fast Track USB and move the volume slider to the far right
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup > M-Audio > Input;  set the master to the far right
The front panel controls affect analogue phono out connectors and the headphone jacks for monitoring, they do not control recording.

  • Only left channel records - help please

Here's my set up. I have DVR with a bunch of movies. I am taking S video out and RCA audio out to a Sony DCR TRV 120 camcorder. This camera can act as a DV bridge. I am going out from the Sony via FW into my PB and trying to capture the movie in iMovie 5.0.2.
Everything is working except that I am only getting audio from the left speaker on the computer. I checked the computer in iTunes and sound comes from both speakers. I checked the camera with headphones and there is sound coming into the camera in stereo.
So, it must either be that I am losing the right channel via FW or the DV bridge in the camera.
I have imported many movies from Hi8 tape without a problem. Is there anything I am missing here? Should try to go from the camera's headphone out to the audio in on the PB? Could it be a faulty FW cable?
Is this a problem with iMoive 5.x? I have read this forum all night long and not found anyone else with the problem.
    I appreciate all replies.

"..I checked the computer in iTunes and sound comes from both speakers.."
So the computer's audio is OK.
"..I checked the camera with headphones and there is sound coming into the camera in stereo.."
No: probably not real stereo; it may be the same mono audio coming out of both channels (left & right), giving you the same mono audio in both sides of the headphones. The camcorder may be trying to 'do you a favour' ..and, because it's receiving only mono, it's helpfully(?) playing the one incoming channel out of both headset channels.
"..So, it must either be that I am losing the right channel via FW or the DV bridge in the camera.."
No: FireWire is just a digital link which carries exactly what it's being fed - you can't lose a right channel via FireWire: it passes on exactly what it receives ..like handing on a cake to someone: the person who receives it from you wouldn't receive it with half the raisins or the self-raising flour or the egg missing ..it's all handed on complete.
"..the DV bridge in the camera.." Well, as I said; I think you'll find that the camera is receiving only through its left channel, but is providing that left-channel audio out of both sides (..left & right..) of your 'phones.
So the problem is probably at the very source: your "..DVR with a bunch of movies". Either the movies are recorded in mono, and that's leaving your DVR through only the left channel, or - even if the movies really are stereo - only the left-channel is active (..is connected properly, or has sound going through it..) from your DVR to the Sony camcorder.
One way to fix this is to take the output from the left-channel of the DVR, and feed that to both the L & R cables which go to your camcorder. Use a 'splitter/joiner' like this..
..so you'd connect the left audio channel out of the DVR (..should be a white RCA/phono plug..) to the single pin of this adaptor, and then connect the pair of RCA/phono sockets on the back of the adaptor to both the left and the right audio inputs of the camcorder ..you may be using a 3.5mm jack plug to connect the phono plugs into the camcorder's input.
This kind of little mono to both channels adaptor is available by mail order from most electronics stores, e.g: here, and the simplest place to find one in the States is probably Radio Shack, or that kind of store.
    It's a common problem..

  • Exports only left channel

When I replay the video within PrE 10, the sound is stereo. However, when I export it (tried several format, ie WMF HD ) it will only play sound in one of the channels.
Doees anybody know, what could be the problem here?
    Best regards,
    Peter

I've just been experimenting with this for a couple of hours. It seems to be something in the settings for the project. I've tried to import exactly the same media (footage) to a new .prel file, I made from scratch and here sound works perfect. I've also tried to delete all the clips in the timeline for the problematic .prel file, imported new media and placed them in the timeline. This again gives only sound through the left channel after exporting.
The thing is that I've made a bunch of .prel files for a project where we need to make a lot of short videos. They are all based on the same template file (I made one .prel file that contained all the footage I needed, so I didn't have to go through the import process for each video, I made). Therefore starting all over again will really be a pain. I guess that it is a setting or something which I've made wrong in the "template" file and which has thus been replicated to all the other files. The strange thing is that the balance is perfect when reviewing the video inside PrE, only after exporting it, no sounds comes in the right channel.
I simply can't understand what I do differently in the new files and what I did in the old template (and thus in all the other files I've made). They have the same project setting, as far as I can see.
Bill, I haven't been able to find out if it has keyframes. It sounds quite possible that this is what I've done without knowing it, but on the other hand, it's strange that it changes this many times during a couple of minutes. And after investigating I found that not all the videos have this behaviour, but all of them gives only the sound through the left channel after exporting. So probably the two problems are not interrelated.
I really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.

  • Only sound in left channel

    MSI KT333 ULTRA2 BA   (onboard AC97)
I have a problem. Yesterday i noticed that i had only sound in the left channel.??  I checked my cables and speakers , used a discman and they where ok.
Installed new, old, different drivers but no changes, still only left channel. Ok format C and TOTAL reinstall....
but still only left channel works.
Im using my sblive now but i would rather be using the onboard  since its better for me.
    Any idea ??

i guess that youve tried other speakers and headphones and stuff.. it might be as simple as your onboard sound output might be damaged... if theres a glitch it usually results in only one speaker sound.. try gently to "swirl" the plug in the hole and see if you get 2 channel sound...
    well its worth a try

I am using duel thunderbolt displays with a MacBook Pro. I only have the option to have sound come from one or the other. Has anyone thought of making the left channel come from both speakers on the left Monitor and the same of the right? If yes, how is that done? The MacBook Pro could even be a center channel if configured in that order.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0 only records in left channel

Greetings!  I've got a Blue Yeti Pro mic hooked into an ART Tube MP Project Series USB pre-amp/interface (using XLR connection from mic - USB to computer).  When I record voice in Audition 3.0 it only records on the left channel for some reason.  I thought it might be the mic or preamp, so I downloaded Audacity to double-check with another program.  With Audacity I got a perfect 2-channel mono recording.  Any help on why Audition 3.0 is only recording on left channel would be appreciated.  I'm stumped.  Thanks!  Cheers!  mrc

As you are only using one mic then, as you say, you should be able to record it in mono. Audition defaults to stereo so if you want to record a mono source you have to make sure that you have the mono input for your USB interface selected as source, not the default stereo one. Usually Audition list the stereo sources first in the hardware set up panel, so you need to scroll down the list of inputs to find the mono ones. Stereo ones are called something like Art 1 &2 S etc. and the mono ones Art 1 M and Art 2 M.
Normally when recording a mono source it needs to be saved as a mono file using only one track, not as Audacity does which records a mono source onto two tracks and saving a stereo file which takes twice as much storage space.

  • CC 2014: all mono clips on left channel only

After updating Premiere Pro today (CC 2014) every mono audio clip is interpreted as stereo, with the right channel switched off – so every mono signal plays only on the left channel (panning o,o). When I select the mono clips and go to "Audio Channels", there is a second "Source Channel", switched to "None". If I switch this second channel to "Channel 1" (right), the problem is solved, but I'd had to do this for every mono clip in my project!
I checked the mono clips, and they show up with "Mono" in the meta data, and the source monitor shows a mono waveform, so that's not the problem.
Stereo files are playing stereo, no issues so far.
    What's going on here?

Another good method that does the same trick without a filter is... After importing your file and before dropping it down on your timeline, right click on the clip go to Modify>Audio Channels.  Select mono 2 channels and it does the same thing as the filter would.  I use both methods a lot because of the way I shoot with a PWM Ex3.  Have a good day man!

  • Premiere Elements 13 (not Pro), recorded a video with mono mic input (left channel only), need to create 2-channel (left and right) audio track for finished product. Help?

The question says it all. I have been all over the tutorials as well as the menus inside Premiere 13 and cannot find how to edit the audio track beyond basic balance, volume, etc.
I can see the Audio 1 track, shows audio in left channel only, but it will not respond to attempts to select, cut/copy, paste, etc.
Basically I just want to turn one-channel audio into two-channel audio.

    25424...
Sure you do not want to give the Fill Left and Fill Right another try?
According to the Adobe document Adobe Premiere Elements Help | Effects reference
    Fill Left, Fill Right
The Fill Left effect duplicates the left channel information of the audio clip and places it in the right channel, discarding the original clip’s right channel information. The Fill Right effect duplicates the right channel information and places it in the left channel, discarding the existing left channel information. For example, you might use this effect on footage shot with a monaural microphone plugged into only one channel of a camcorder, extending the voice of a speaker from one channel to both.
From what you wrote, your Premiere Pro video seems to be saying the same.
If that Premiere Elements Fill Left or Fill Right is no go, you might want to explore what you can do in this regard using the free audio editor Audacity.
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
And, then import the Audacity edited audio back into Premiere Elements project as source media.
    Is the speaker system OK?
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks for the follow up.

  • If I change audio levels in AE CS6 from 0db, it decides to output left channel only.

This is a bug that's been prevalent in every iteration of AE CS6. I'm updated to the most recent version. This is also something I've seen around a lot of forums, but nobody has an answer.
If I change the audio levels on any audio track from the default 0db, the RAM preview only plays back the left channel which completely breaks the way I can properly work.
If I render it out, the audio is fine... it's clearly only on RAM previews. But rendering out things to check audio levels is not a solution.
    Any idea why this happens?
