Only left side audio

Am only receiving left channel on sound playback, both headphones and internal speaker on G71-340US

Have you check for sound level on left channel....
To do that click start, in the search box type Sound. Once is show up in the search result, click on it.
Click on the default Audio Device and click properties
Now with the Speakers Properties window open, click on  Levels tab and  click Balance. Now check for the volume level on the Left Channel...

  • Late2012, RMBP. Only left side of earphone works.

When I plug in my earphone (iphone 5 earphone), only left side works, and Im sure this is a good earphone.
I used to adjust the banlance, and sometimes this works that both sides will work after my manual adjustment. However, now, this way wont fix the problem.
    What's the problem here?

    1. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    2. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    3. Close all windows and quit all applications.
Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences
        Open "Audio" folder.
Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".

  • Imported DV plays only left channel audio

In working with iMovie HD 6, I've imported video from my DV camera and I'm only getting sound from the left channel (I used a lapel mic plugged into the camera while I was recording). Is there a way to mix the left channel audio into stereo, or at least two channel mono so that my movie and subsequent DVD project will play sound in both channels? I'd prefer to run the fix within iMovie, but will consider exporting if necessary. I can't recreate the original interview without a lot of work.

    Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
Yep, you can do it in GarageBand, just setting it to move the mono channel into both channels.
Or you could use the free, downloadable "Audacity", and just select the left channel, then copy it, and paste it into the empty right channel, like this.
However, to use the wonderful "Audacity", you've got to find your original audio in iMovie, then remove it from within its hidden storage, whereas GarageBand just "knows" where to find the audio if you send your movie there, so click on Share and then GarageBand, where you can select the Movie Sound track, and just turn the little 'panning' control, in the Mixer column, to the centre.

  • Sound out only left side.

I only get sound out of the left side of my headphones. I have all ready made sure the headphones are not broken (tested in another iPod Classic). I am fairly certain my iPod requires service, but figured I would check first. Also if someone could point me where I can go about setting up sending my iPod in it would be appreciated.

    Hey there,
The problem could just be a bad contact, but sadly there really isn't anything you can do to resolve the problem.
If your iPod is still covered by its warranty consider setting up a mail-in repair for your iPod at http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
Or visit your local Apple Retail Store http://www.apple.com/retail/
Otherwise, if no warranty, there are numerous 3rd party businesses that will dianose the exact problem with the iPod and repair it. Just do a simple google search for "ipod repair parts" and you should recieve a plethora of sites that can help you. I would recommend doing a bit of looking around before choosing one.
Here are a few good ones.

If i try and put my finger on the right side ,, nothing happens . If i cover he left side , i block all the sound output. Can someone tell me what should /could i do , on my own ? Thanks

    Good day, arsaboss.
We understand where you're coming from. How's the phone doing? Did something happen to your phone that possibly cause such behavior? Any fixes you've tried like press and holding both the volume down & the power keys for 10 seconds or a reset under Settings> about> reset your phone?
When was the last time you updated your phone's software? Can you confirm that you have the latest one by checking if 'Lumia Cyan' is shown under Settings> extras+info? How about your system apps? See: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Nokia-Windows-Phone-8-App-Updates/td-p/1640082. By the way, where are you located?
    Keep us posted.

  • Convert stereo to mono, but with only left side

I have some mp3 files that are stereo, but I only want to hear the left. I know I can change the balance through System Preferences, but I want the left side to be coming through both speakers. Also I assume I could do this with Garageband, but there are a lot of files, and I'd rather not do that for all of them.
    Thanks!

You don't want to hear the right channel at all or you want to combine both channels and listen to it with your left ear only?
You can convert the files to mono using iTunes.
iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Importing.
Click the drop down next to Setting and set it to Mono.
Now select the files you want to convert, then menu Advanced -> *Convert selection to...*
This will make a new copy of the selected files in Mono.
The original files will remain unchanged in iTunes.

  • Right side of track pad not working, only left side is working

the right side of the track pad on my MacBook Pro is not working, only the left side.

If this computer has a removable battery, take it out and see if the battery is swelling. If that is the case, try running the computer without the battery on just the charger, to check if the swelling is the cause.
If the computer does not have a removable battey, the best you can do is examine the underside for signs of a swelling battery.

  • Earphone input issue, left side dead

My left side audio just died on me.
Inserting the earphone only delivers right-side audio, the left side is dead! Tried various ear and head phones..same. Right side good..left side no sound. I can however ease it in about half way to get both sides to work, (the plug being a bit loose with this config).
Is the input broken? Anything I can do on my end? Thanks.
    HP PC   Windows XP

Nothing you can really do. You've tried different headsets just to see if the original ones were broken.
Sounds as though you'll need to send it in for repair.

  • Click wheel ipod only plays Audio out of the left side

When i plug my ipod in through the dock conection there is only audio from the left side.ie... when in the car, when pluged in a made for ipod docking boom box..... and it does not look like there is any damage to the guts of the dock conection
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

That indicates a problem with the headphone jack. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If the iPod is defective, within warranty and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost.

  • Audio only on left side

I've seen lots of threads on this and the usual answer is to make sure you click the input as a mono track in order to hear/monitor in both left and right sides in the headphones.  It doesn't seem to work.
Have Mavericks w/all updates and gargeband 10.0.1
I have a Tascam US-144 MKII audio interface.
Guitar plugged into channel 2 input (instrument input).
Mono on switch is set to on (turning it off makes no difference.)
In garageband, I have a guitar track set up.
In info window... Input is set to Mono channel 2.  I hear the guitar only through the left side.
Changing this to a stereo input or back to mono does nothing.  I assumed that it being mono I'd at least be able to hear it in stereo through my headphones.
    No?
If I record like this, will it only record w/a hard pan to the left even though pan level knob is set dead center?

    Problem solved...
Even though I had everything set up correctly, I was using an incompatible jack adaptor on my phones.  I substitued it for the correct 1/8 to 1/4 adaptor and it sounds great now.

  • Audio only coming out of left side of headphones

Hey all, I got my Ipod Video 8 months ago. Everything was perfect until recently. One day, I turned on my Ipod and sound was only coming out of the left side of the headphones. I thought it was the headphones, so I tried the headphones on a computer. And it was fine on the computer. I tried 3 different sets of headphones on my Ipod and still the same problem, the sound only comes out of the left side. If I move the jack around, sometimes sound will come out of the right side, but only briefly. Any suggestions on what I can do?

  • Left-side only on Macbook Air headphones

I am having problem with any headphones I plug into new Macbook Air in that sound will only come out of left side despite the headphone settings being set for balance.
I tried the resets I have seen on other threads and experienced no change in the problem.
    Please help!

Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Plug in the headphone.
        Click the Built-in Output.
Make sure that balance is set properly.

  • I made a project with multiple tracks and had it all panned and mixed.  Now it's only playing in the right speaker.  Not even regestering a left side in the master volume?  What happened, how can I get both sides back?

    Thank you for that info.
For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.
