Only name at incoming call

Why does not apple give us the possibility of configuring our phone to show name and company name on incoming calls? Most of us know many people just by name and company name, and when the incoming call happens, you don't know who is the caller. Just his name.
I prefer to know the company name than if the caller is calling from the mobile device, iphone or work (as the second line of the incoming id says)
Is it so difficult to develope this characteristic?

It is a tough work to do in my 1500 contact list.
I expected the ios6 to be more "profesional"
I hope they take in account this details for the next update.

My phone displays numbers instead of contact names for incoming calls and text - how do I fix? It used to display the names if there was a contact listed, now it just shows numbers regardless of whether or not the number corresponds to a contact name in the contact list. Can anyone help? I googled this problem and lots of folks have experienced it, however there is not a consensus for a resolution.

Alexandribill, I have been having the exact same issue. I got a new phone and restored my contacts. If the # doesn't have the area code first then the name isn't shown. I just added my husbands area code to my phone and called my phone from his and now his name shows up...Ugh, I have to go through and manually add the area code to all my contacts....
I'd say Verizon needs to rewrite their program to include the area code in the restoring from backup process!

It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. You may want to consider importing the contacts from the email account you removed. You can do it easily by following the steps in this article:
iCloud: Import a vCard
You can import an electronic business card, also called a vCard, into iCloud Contacts. If the vCard contains contact information for more than one person, each contact becomes a separate entry.
In iCloud Contacts, choose Import vCard from the Action pop-up menu , which appears at the bottom of the All Contacts list or a list of group contacts
Select a vCard to import.
The contacts from the vCard are added to the All Contacts group in Contacts. You can add the contacts to any other group by dragging them to the desired group.

Yes, the Z10 is a business phone, and a personal phone!
And the company field is not visible on incoming calls. Sorry. Perhaps this will be updated soon.
For nor, for your "Mr. Tan" contacts, why not add their company to the last name field?

Can iPhone 6 announce the name of incoming caller? Help!

I have an iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB. Running iOS 8.0.2 (latest version at time of post).
Is there any way for me to change my incoming ringtone from "default" to "announce the incoming callers name". Instead of an actual ring EX: "Incoming call from "dad" (contact name)"
I have looked through 3rd party apps and other forums. This technology is archaic, so I am sure there must be some way that it can be done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As Allan mentioned, custom ringtones allow for this.
"9,999 Ringtones Uncensored" allows you to create any message which you then assign to a specific contact. Examples: "Hank is calling," "Hank Smith is calling," "It's your spouse," or whatever you like. The customization is nice, but creating one for each contact is tedious. I use this app, and created about a half dozen or so just for family and close friends. Others get generic tones assigned to them. This app also has a variety of voices to choose from such as funny, robotic, etc.
Bear in mind, in public anyone around you may hear who's calling also. "Mom's calling." Hope this helps.

Hi guys.
I have a Skype number and when I receive a phone call on my Skype for Iphone from one of my Iphone contacts, Skype doesn't display the name of the caller. It displays the phone number but not the name of the caller. Of course, the same happens on the Recent tab. The Recent tab doesn't show the contact's name.
Any thoughts?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
Have you tried ALL the troubleshooting steps? If you have and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible exchange.

Blackberry Z10 Contact names not showing on incoming calls

My blackberry Z10 is not showing the contact names when I receive an incoming call. My country code also correctly selected. Contacts are not duplicated also. But contacts without the leading 0 is showing

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
When using the country code included in the phone number field of contacts, you may not be able to see contact names on incoming calls even though the country code is correct.

IPhone 4 clicks off during incoming call, drops call within 10 seconds

so i've had zero issues with my iPhone 4 until now; no antenna nonsense, no proximity sensor problems. last nite a friend called me, and i barely got to say "how are you" when the phone made the clicking sound, clicked like when you're putting the screen to sleep from being awake, and the call was dropped. same thing happened today. as far as i can tell, it only happens on incoming calls, i can't get the issue to replicate on an outgoing call.
anyone else with this problem or know of a fix? AT&T reception isn't fantastic where i live, but i typically get 2-3 bars in my room. thanks in advance.

You can try performing a 'restore as new iPhone' if you used 'restore as backup' from a 3GS to i4. Some have reported the backup had more problems than using a 'new iPhone' restore.
Afterwards, try calling your iPhone and pickup. See if it lasts higher than 10 seconds. If your iPhone hangs up, it could be a bad iPhone or it could be a bad AT&T connection.
I would report your problem area to AT&T that you can't make calls and have your iPhone checked. They can have their towers checked for faulty connectivity.

on the Z10 Whenever I receive an incoming call, the caller ID only shows the phone #, even when I have that number matched to a contact in the phone, even the call log it show the number and not the name. Thank you Arsen but, as with everyone else : (1) When you get an in-coming call, it has no call log on the phone app call log that allows you do a thing under the sun except to touch the number of the last call, and when you do, it CALLS THEM BACK. (2) On every other BlackBerry I have owned, about 10 to-date, I simply selected the last in-coming call and had a button at the bottom of the screen to allow me to ADD TO CONTACTS. (3) This does NOT exist on the Z10, and there certainly is no "Click on number, little slider pops on the right, select add to contact." Instead it dials them. Frustrating other uses have described Arsen. Further, while on the topic : (4) None of this has anything to do with 10-digit national dialing plan or anything else on swipe finger down from top in Phone App, Arsen. (5) When you swipe Phone App down, you see SETTINGS. Then, there are 13 items. I have looked at all 13 items and see nothing as you describe to select, nor any instructions on what to set the SMART DIALING to when there are 3 area codes local for my city and country code shows +1. Further, while on topic here : (6) Visual Voice Mail has been turned-on and whatever visual voice mail is, never supported on any previous BlackBerry including my 9780 before this, I have it with T-Mobile and have it turned on on the BlackBerry Z10 and it too does not work. On the positive side, I do have a work-around for BlackBerry Z10 to 2013 Toyota entune. (7) I first took a vm msg .wav file of just hello (blank will not send) and saved it on BlackBerry Z10. The Toyota entune is LOOKING for a music and will LOCK-UP if none are found. By giving it this, it worked on my 2013 Toyota entune for the 1st time ever. Yeah ! It is a little frustrating every few minutes listening to myself say HELLO. But, hey no one really notices it with all the other stuff going on NAVIGATION, radio, cell phone calls, and all the computerized alerts on 2013 Toyota even without entune. (8) What I did now was to go into Navigation and remove SYNC with MUSIC. I accomplished that after pairing to Z10 to 2013 Toyota, by CANCELLING ALL CONNECTIONS leaving only the pairing itself. Then, you must choose some connections in the pairing section of SET-UP within Navigation itself. If you cannot even get to that point, try depressing on the Navigation Screen, INTERNET at which point it will allow you access to SET-UP when you see the message NO ENTUNE APP FOUND ON YOUR BlackBerry Z10. Red-headed step-child is what we all are. Have to help each other. Arsen I appeciate you helping all of us. Seems the list is about 20 who have voiced it here in this one thread. We voice it for the 200 million BlackBerry users worldwide, all left out in the cold despite a pretty cool Z10 product. Far better than iPhone 5. I chose phone and internet. Internet comes back no BLACKBERRY Z10 TOYOTA ENTUNE APP. But, at least now I don't have to hear the music HELLO and do not also have the BlackBerry Z10 LOCKED-UP with pop up message you have to say OK to 10 million times to clear and never can actually do a thing on the BlackBerry Z10 as a result. Cannot add an in-coming call to Contacts Z10. Cannot see name and number calling me, just the bloody number, no clue who is calling ridiculous. Cannot do diddle-e-squat on BlackBerry Z10 on Toyota entune. No App. Horrendous. TAGS : Z10 no caller-id name, Z10 no app Toyota 2013 entune, Z10 add call to Contacts

Since I don't have many phone #'s memorized, I have no clue that it is someone I know. However, the contact name is displayed in my call log, just not on the initial incoming call display. Thanks so much! The problem was the security settings. I switched the content protection for "contacts included" to "no" and now my contact info shows up on the incoming call display! Thanks again for your help!
