'Only' NAT'd Traffic Allowed Between ASA Interfaces
I've just setup (2) ASAs. In doing so, I've run into the same problem on each one (i.e., I must configure NAT on each interface for the traffic to flow between them)
Accordingly to my literature and videos I've been through, I should not have to perform NAT for the traffic to move between the different interfaces.
Questions:
What have I done wrong?
What do I need to do to have this run as I expected it would (*without NAT)? While it appears harmless to have it setup this way, it just doesn't look 'clean' to me.
Notes about my configurations:
Same security level traffic is permitted
All interfaces have their security levels set to 100
I've reset the ACLs to allow all traffic as well (*this is a lab)
All tcp-udp traffic is inspected by default on ASAs

NAT-Control: NA, deprecated.
Without Nat-Control: As I mentioned previously, I must use NAT, or the traffic will not flow between interfaces. This is my problem. It doesn't make sense that I should need to use NAT for traffic to flow between the different interfaces.

ASA5510 - Verifying NAT is fully disabled between two interfaces
Hello,
I am trying to configure two inside interfaces without NAT. I am not using nat-control and I have added exemptions for the two networks. I can communicate between the two networks and to the Internet just fine.
I would like to verify that NAT is disabled between the two interfaces. I also need to make sure that the Interface IP (specifically for the traffic from inside-test to the inside network) is not added to packets between the two networks. I would like to be able to verify this as well. In other words I need to have the Source IP address from the originating connection on the inside-test network passed along through to the Inside network device without being replaced by the Interface's IP address. This is a test config for a production environment that will be using a load balancer. The config I have may be working in this regard and the load balancer may be replacing this IP address (that is what I am trying to test), but I am not certain.

Do I need to include access-list commands for both directions for each interface as listed in my full config above, or do I just need one for one direction on one and one direction on the other interface (plus the exempt for the 69.x.x.x network)?

Will I need to clear xlate to see the results of this or will this take affect immediately? I can't really do that during business hours, but should be able to after hours if I need to.
Can you clarify what the global commands do? I keep thinking that it adds the IP of the Interface to packets as they go through the interface and that I should use a different config for the Inside-test network.
I will try the xlate detail to verify and let you know what I find.

I cannot pass any traffic through the vpn when it's UP, or ping the other side.
ASA VERSION 9.2I do not think that'll be any problem. Here at work we also use Cisco ADSL 800 Series with vpn between customers' sites without any issues. The ASA should vpn for sure.

I would ask if it is possible to do NAT between two Interfaces on the same device?
The problem is that I need access from my inside lan to the management interface on the ASA. We will not manage the ASA over the inside interface.

So NAT seems to be working correct. I can reach other devices behind the mgmt network this is no problem. But I cant access the ASA on the mgmt interface 192.168.3.2.
Clould it be a problem with the traffic flow? Because in the PacketTracer output I see on Phase1 a Route-Lookup and later on Phase4 the NAT statement.
Is there a way to get this working?

To my understanding its not possible to connect to an ASA interface through interface other than the interface where the IP address is located.
In other words you are not able to connect from behind "inside" to the IP address of "mgmt" interface

Possible to segment traffic between 2 interfaces? And other questions...
I would like to set my G5 up as a server utilizing a second connection and to keep traffic seperated between this server connection and my regular internet connection (would be wireless). I'm pretty sure this alone is fairly straightforward and can be accomplished by setting up the new interface and moving it down to the bottom of the connection list with wireless at the top. That should keep all non-specific traffic from flowing out the ethernet/server connection - I think.
If the above works the way I stated then I would also want to firewall ONLY the ethernet/server connection (the wireless has it's own hardware firewall). AND - this is the tricky part - I also want to add a fake interface that has a fake IP and bind that to the "real" ethernet/server connection. The reason for that is because I need a static IP to bind the service to. I know if the connection list thing works to flow the traffic that if I had an external router on the server connection, this wouldn't be needed. I'd already have a fake IP to bind to and I wouldn't have to run the firewall on the Mac. But I don't and I'd rather not have to buy one.
So can this be done through the network/sharing preferance panes? If so, are there any "gotchas" I should be aware of? If not, is there any software tool out there that would make setting this up easier/faster? I'm not opposed to doing it all via command line, but I'm a bit rusty with my linux/unix admin knowledge. Plus I'm not 100% certain how to set all that up command line wise without screwing up OS X!
Thanks.I'm not sure I fully understand what you are attempting to accomplish. Lets see if I have the general idea.
You have a single G5, that you want to use as both your desktop machine and also to provided specific services, such as web, email, etc.
You have some type of hardware firewall/security appliance.
You have some type of wireless access point.
You don't seem to have any type of router or switch in your configuration.
You want all of your server based traffic to be sent and received on it's own Ethernet port. You want your personal Internet traffic to be sent and received on your wireless connection.
So my questions are:
Where is the server traffic going to, coming from? Who is accessing the server, is it users on the Internet, or just computers on your own LAN (which you didn't mention).
If your server is to allow data from or send to the Internet, then you need to have a way to route the traffic there. Do you have more then one method to access the Internet, or will all traffic, both personal and server being going though the same Internet access pipe?
If it is all going through the same pipe, and you only have the single computer, I don't understand why you wish to segment the traffic.
If on the other hand you have multiple computers on your LAN. then segmenting traffic may make sense. This would allow access to your server and keep your LAN well secure.
Anyway, to get to specifics, you'll need to use the terminal app to bind specific services to specific IP's and ports on your Mac. You will also need to manually configure the firewall to be able to select specific connection ports and bindings. However, while I think it can be done, I'm not sure it makes a great deal of sense.
I would be more inclined to suggest a router or switch that can provide VLAN support, or a router that provides true DMZ support, would be a good way to go.
Anyway, a little more info would be helpful.
Oh and if I have this totally worng in what I think your doing.. My mistake.

ASA 5505 9.1(2) NAT/return traffic problems
As part of an office move we upgraded our ASA to 9.1(2) and have been having what seem to be NAT problems with some services ever since. These problems manifest themselves with return traffic. For example, network time sync (NTP, port 123) works fine from the ASA, but hosts on the inside network cannot access external NTP servers (ntpq -pe shows all servers stuck in .INIT. status), creating problems with drifting clocks. Services like XBox Live also do not work; the XBox device can contact the internet, but return traffic from the service never gets back to the device.
For NTP specifically, I've tried allowing NTP 123 through the firewall, but it doesn't help. Conceptually, this should not be required since an inside host is initiating the connection and the NAT rules "should" allow the return packets. To further muddy the waters around NTP, a Linux VM CAN get NTP if it's network adapter is in NAT mode (so it's NAT'ing through the host workstation, then through the Cisco) but CAN NOT get NTP if the adapter is running in bridged mode (so the VM is talking directly to the ASA as if it were just another machine on the inside network).
I've stripped down the ASA config to the basics level, but still can't get this resolved. The main symptom of the problem is that if I disable the access-list rules around ICMP, I'll see lots of ICMP warnings in the ASA logs, which seems to indicate that there are traffic problems communiating with the inside hosts. I've narrowed the problem down to the ASA since replacing the device with a simple Netgear consumer-grade "firewall" lets all this traffic flow just fine.

I would probably start by trying out some other software level on the ASA
Maybe some 8.4(x) software or 9.0(x) software. See if it some bug perhaps.
One option is ofcourse to capture traffic directly on the ASA or on the hosts behind the ASA. And go through the information with Wireshark.

Is NAT allowed between the Access Point and WLAN Controller?
Suppose that the AP and Controller communicate over a L3 network.
Can NAT be performed in between?
For example, suppose that the AP is connected to an ADSL router that performs NAT.Just to expand on what George had said, when the controller sends the discovery response to an AP the controller's ap-manager interface IP address is embedded in the response. So if this packet gets NATed the embedded address won't. So just make sure they AP can route packets to whatever address is configured on the controller. The controller doesn't need to see the AP's configured address, this one could be NATed.

Communication problem between ASA 5510 and Cisco 3750, L2 Decode drops
Having problem with communication between ASA 5510 an Cisco Catalyst 3750.

When I try to ping from ASA X.X.X.1 i get:

I have also changed the ports on the Switch and ASA but the same error stays.
Any thoughts?I don't see anything wrong with your trunk configuration; I have a similar one working between an ASA 5520 and a Catalyst 3750G.
Maybe you should adjust the "speed 100"? In my experience, partial autoconfiguration results in duplex mis-matches, which results in dropped packets.
I'd try removing the "speed 100" and letting the ASA port autonegotiate with the switch. Alternatively, have both sides set
speed 100
duplex full
and see if things improve.

Site to Site VPN between ASA 5505 and Cisco 800 router
Evening all,
Hoping that someboy can see the error of my ways. It seems very like the problem that i read here: https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2016300
We have a cisco 800 in a remote site which we wanted to use for a site to site vpn. Went through the steps on the ASA 5505 and the 800 and have got to the stage were the tunnel is up and connected. Getting traffic through it is another matter. Remote network is 172.20.224.0/20 and the server network behind the ASA is 192.168.168.0/24. The tunnel does intiate when you send traffic from 172 ......to 192....... Both the ASA and 800 report the tunnel is up. If i look at the stats using ccp on the 800 i can see the encapsulation packets graph shooting up but nothing cominbg back. I did packet captures on the 5505 and could not see anything coming from the tunnel so i dont belive its making it to the ASA. Here is the config from the 800:

Diff between ABSTRACT & INTERFACE.
can I know the exact difference between abstract and interface
and also can I know where exactly what can be used. if possible briefly with programs.An abstract class is meant to be used only when you have a class of a type that will never have an instance, but from which classes are actual types of. For example, class Fruit would demonstrait the qualities required for an abstract class. You should never, in the real world, have an instance of Fruit that isn't actually some kind of Fruit; there's no such thing as the instance of an abstract Fruit. However, there are common traits between apples, oranges, bannanas, etc. Therefor it would make sense to have an abstract class, Fruit, from which the classes Apple, Bannana, Orange, Pear, Peach, etc.. extend. This way you could treat all of these objects as Fruits by upcasting, but you wouldn't have to worry about a generic fruit being created.
An interface is different, it's not a "is a" relationship, but rather an interface between one object and another (Apropriately named isn't it?). It's meant to be used only as a communication channel between objects. For instance, an eyeball would be a good example of an object that has a communication interface. An eyeball watches for information being presented to it and turns it into Images for the Brain, for this purpose there could exist a EyeListener interface:

Now, the eyeball will just hang out and produce images for the Brain, or whatever other information processing units that will exist in the future that implement the EyeListener interface (Neural CPUs running Java Bytecode). I think it's fairly obvious how a Brain lacks any kind of relationship to the Type Eye, but has a strong relationship with the two instances of Eye it works with.
Another way to solve the problem of providing a communication interface between these two things would be to call the Brain a type of "Eye", and simply extend Eye and override the informationReceived method to get the Image information it produces. And in C++, strangely enough, this kind of use of Object Orientation is fairly common.
And I think everybody can see that there is something really extremely wrong with this.
And you should see by now that relationships that require interfaces are MUCH more common that relationships that would involve an abstract class. Thinking about the relationships this way makes the Class Eye more flexable, and allows it to hide a great deal of it's implementation behind the interface.

Unable to print from HQ to Branch through the VPN tunnel between ASAs
We have site to site VPN configured between ASAs. The VPN tunnel is up and running as desired except for one printer in the subnet. the users in the Hq cannot print in the branch office printer. I have allowed the ip protocols for the printer subnet but still it is not working. When I do a packet trac the traffic for the printer is allwed through the tunnel.
Can anyone suggest what can be preventing from printing?When other printers in the same subnet can be reached, I would first control the IP-settings of the printer. In my experience it's most likely a wrong subnet-mask or gateway.

L2L VPN Decrypted Traffic Not Exiting ASA

I have a pair of ASAs runing version 9.1 at the remote site and 8.4 (4) at the local site. When sending traffic over the tunnel from the local to remote, I can see in the IPSec SA the encap packet count increasing locally and the decap count increasing on the remote ASAs but no traffic is egressing the remote ASA's interfaces.

As Fahad has already noted, if you're going to use both an in and out ACL, you'll need to account for the traffic allowed in both direction. Normally, the in and out ACE are just mirror entries, so for your example of:

Fahad also mentioned using a Reflexive ACL. These will generate a stateful mirror ACE for the reverse traffic. The reverse ACE will stay active for a short duration after seeing traffic that creates it and the it will time out and remove itself. Normally you would only use one on a trusted side of the device for generated flows. When used with a trusted side, the ACE often are made more generic, for example, any inside to outside HTTP flow will allow and ACE for the return traffic. -

I'm looking for some way to make a transparent bridge between two interfaces of a Cisco router ASR901 , is there any possibility? I ask this because I have a scenario where I would use the ASR901 to the following question :
POP01 ( ) ASR901 g0 / 6 -------- > ISG_7206
POP02 ( MPLS CLOUD ) g0 / 7 -------- > ISG_7206
POP03 ( )
The ASR901 will focus EoMPLS with other points in the network and pass on to ISG routers , ie , VLANs would have to be two ports with XConnect to a remote router , the configuration would be something like this :

But without an interface that was redundant of other , what I need is the 2 interfaces in " bridge " making a XConnect to a remote router , and these 2 interfaces connected ISGs in 2 to make a balance .Hello,
I do not believe that the ASR901 will do this without help from an upstream device. If I understand correctly, you want to build a bridge-domain with 3 EFPs: 2 physical ports, and one pseudowire. As of the last IOS revision that I have configured on this platform, the 901 doesn't support the pseudowire on a bridge-domain, only a service instance.
It seems to me that you would need an upstream box involved to support this.
Either:
Build 2 pseudowires to an upstream box that supports this configuration (like an ME 3600x, ME3800x, or 9k).
or
Associate both service instances to a common bridge domain that is extended to an upstream box that is initiating the pseudowire. More platforms would support this, since it does not require supporting the pseudowire on a bridge domain.
...Unless you are looking to build an LACP channel-group on the interfaces connected to the ISGs to load-balance. The 901 supports LACP, and it also supports building an EFP (service instance) on the channel-group interface. This technically makes the 2 physical interfaces one EFP. The part of this that I have not tried is building a pseudowire on an EFP on a channel-group.

1 BP : n CA.
If the above relation is true, I would like to know the importance of the configuration "Only One Business Partner Allowed" in the below path:
Financial Accounting(New) >>Contract Acounts and Recievables>>Basic Functions >>Contract Accounts >>Field Modifications>>Configure Field Attributes for Contract Account Category.
If we don't check the field for "Only One Business Partner Allowed" , Does it contradict to the 1BP : n CA relation ?

One BP must be account holder from all BPs of CA. Rest of BPs can be Alternate Account, Spouse etc.
Please check table FKKVKP from technical perspective, as both BP and CA are primary key. If it was 1 BP : n CA then there would have only VKONT been as primary key.
