ONLY ONE CHANNEL OF AUDIO WITH SONY PMW-200

Hi,
When I automate to sequence using video shot on my Sony PMW-200 I only get one channel of audio, when the preset in Premiere clearly states 8 channels of 24 bit audio. If I drag a clip to the timeline all 8 channels are there, but then I have to trim the beginning and end of each clip in order to do transitions, which would take forever on a wedding video. There must be other PMW-200 users who have this same problem. I am shooting in UDF mode 422 at 50 mb/sec on the Sony and just updated my Premiere CS 6.
Thanks,
Ed

similar question, I found a thread that may solve your problem: Sony PMW-200 file import into Premiere Pro CS6 only get 1 Ch. audio, you can go for a look. Or you can try some converters to help you.      Handbrake, any video converter, ffmpeg, imixmxf, transcode them first, then reload into premiere.

  • Why does my nested sequence have only one channel of audio?

    Hi,
Working in Prem Pro CC on my Mac Pro.
I have  a number of interviews, each shot with 3 cameras and with audio from a separate audio recorder. The audio has two channels, Ch1 has the boom mic and Ch2 a radio mic.
I created a sequence, placed the audio into channels 1 & 2 (they are linked) before placing the video tracks onto timeline tracks 1-3. Everything's synced nicely and so I nested the shots and then I enabled multicam on the nested sequence.
However, now when I edit the nested sequence into my edit sequence, it has only one channel of audio. I tried Modify>Audio Channels but within that page, in the option to select 'Source Channels' the options are "None" and "Channel 1".
How do I get my nested sequence to place both audio channels into my edit sequence?
    Any help much appreciated.

Nevermind folks, I figured it out. I had my render control settings set to Apple Pro Res on some timelines.

  • Only getting one channel of audio with mic HELP

I had been using Garageband with the built in mic to do my podcasts. I just got some real gear.
Here is what I got... M Audio USB fast track, MXL V63MBP running on 10.3.9
I am only getting one channel of audio through the mic. I have the settings on the mixer right and I have gone in the sound preferences and made sure it was right.
On the track in garageband, I made sure that the real instrument settings were set to Stereo. I have been messing around with this thing for an HOUR and I am still only getting one channel of audio. I've done everything I've been able to come up with in google and still nothing works. If anyone has any ideas ,that would be swell because I'm beginning to think that the crappy built in mic on my mac is looking really good about now.

    You're welcome.
The common confusion is that 'Stereo" means two speakers and "mono" means one. Stereo actually means two different signals going to the two speakers. Since a Mic is a mono input device, you set the track to mono so that the same sound comes out of both speakers. Enjoy --Hang

  • Only one channel of audio recorded with external USB audio interface on DV6604nr

I only get on channel of audio when i hookup my Behringer UCA202 to my dv6604nr
vista 32 sp2 . The Behringer takes analog 2 channel audio and converts it to a digital signal.
This is using the Audacity software. The hardware and software check fine, though i tested them with an xp system.
Are there trouble shooting tips for these issues. I've updated the Audacity software and the usb drivers say their up to date. (?)

  • Importing only one channel of audio from two-channel video

I'm diving back into iMovie 6 after a long hiatus, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but my search hasn't turned up an answer. I have two channels of audio on the video I'm importing. Is it possible to split the two channels in iMovie once the video is imported, or do I have to figure out how to have the video camera feed only the audio channel I want to import? Thanks!

  • Please Help - Audio Exporting-Only one channel

When I export the audio from Final Cut, I get only one channel of audio ( right side). This happens with all the AC3 and PCM audio settings.
All of the settings are correct in Final Cut. I have dual output audio on the meters and playback. I've also done a complete troubleshooting check on my playback system to make sure that everything is working properly. It is. I tunes plays everything back in stereo as does final Cut.
Any suggestions? I'm really behing the 8ball at this point.

  • Audio Channels. Only one channel is playing

For some reason only one channel is playing a signal on a couple of clips. The other clips are fine.
All I did to the clips in question was increase the DB levels.
How can I adjust it so that I get signals on both audio channels?
    Thanks

  • Exported Audio Voiceover Only One Channel

    I created a quicktime screen recording for a screencast/tutorial using QuickTime X.
Brought that clip into FCPX, added some music, a few transitions and some motion graphics/titling.
Exported to h.264 and I'm getting stereo from the music track, but the voiceover is only on one channel.
So I go to audio settings and batch change everything to Mono. I noticed that there are surround sound settings, that is, multiple audio 'tracks'.
    Export and only one channel.
When I monitor in FCP X I heare the audio out of both channels.
When I export it using FCP X H.264 to quicktime: Audio Only On One Channel
    Killing me.
So I I loaded the H.264 exported clip into QuickTime Pro 7
Anyway, In QT 7 I changed all the settings for audio (properties) and turned every channel that showed up to mono, saved as and the QuickTime file now plays voiceover audio on both channels. Yeah!! So it seems.
So I save as in QuickTime 7 and when I play in QuickTime 7 I get the Soundtrack/Voice over audio on two channels.
But when I open it in QuickTime X (or upload the file to YouTube/Vimeo) the voiceover only comes through on one channel. Keep in mind that the stock Music does play through both channels!

  • Why only one channel of sound in sequences?  Please someone try this quest

When I add a sequence to a sequence, I have only one channel of sound but, when I open that sequence I have 2 channels of sound.
Is it a sequence setting and if it is I see:
    outputs 2
    downmix 0
    grouping: Stereo selected
    Dual mono not selected.
I swith these around a bit but get no change.
My raw footage say "2 Mono" from my Sony DSR PD-150 at 16 bit, 48 khz.
I usuall use one channel for camera sound and 2nd channel for mic.

the number of audio channels that your nested sequence will contain is the same as the number of audio outputs you have selected for that sequence ...
for example, if you create a sequence with 10 tracks of audio, but have only set the sequence to have 2 audio outputs, then when you nest that sequence the nest will have only 2 tracks of audio ... change the audio outputs to 4, or 6, or 8, or 10 etc regardless of how many tracks you actually use, and the sequence, when nested, will have the same number of audio tracks as the sequence has audio outputs
... ok, so that explains the relationship between audio outputs and the number of tracks of audio that a nested sequence contains
so why are you getting only one channel of sound when you edit it in to another sequence? my guess is that you are only patching 1 channel ... load the source sequence into the viewer (drag and drop), now check in the patch bay area at the left of the timeline window to make sure that your a1 to A1 and a2 to A2 connections are not broken ... and edit it in.
    cheers

I'm not sure which version iPod you have, but I just checked my iPod nano (current generation) and it also has a Mono Audio setting in Settings>General>Accessibility.

  • Only one channel working - fixable?

Recently my ipod starting playing only one channel through headphones or a speaker jack - eg I can hear only whatever is coming through the left side speaker. I've verified that the problem is with the ipod, not the headphones. However, if I put pressure from a specific angle on the headphone cord right above where it connects to the ipod, both L and R channels work. This goes away again when the pressure is released.
Has this happened to anybody else? Is it a fixable problem?
    Thanks!

You need to replace the headphone jack on the iPod.

  • All my saved layers disappeared. Shows only one locked black layer.with red sripes

All my saved layers disappeared. Shows only one locked black layer.with red sripes

Apple changed the save behaviour several times in the past few versions of MacOsX - there is a good article about this:
    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/os-x-mountain-lion-how-apple-rescued-save-as
The trouble is, you should (I know, not much of a help to you at this point) always create backups AND work with versions. So save many versions (x1, x1a, x2, x2a, etc), because when you work within one master file you run the risk of these type of accidents and there is always a tiny change your file becomes corrupt for some external reason. You never know. Disk space is cheap, losing your work is often a real hassle, and can become very problematic when dealing with clients.
So, save many versions, and make backups of your work. And never NEVER open your original files in any other software - always use a duplicate. You never know what that software might do to your files.
Anyway, have you tried searching for the file name on your mac? Maybe, just maybe there is a duplicate lying around somewhere with the layers intact.
