Only one sound at a time work

Hi
Installed arch linux a couple of days ago and got most stuff up and running. Altho one problem I just noticed it that I can only play one sound at a time. For example, if I have music playing from mpd I don't get any sound from youtube or from urban terror only the sound from mpd will be played. I've googled some, but don't really know what to search for
If you do have a explanation please keep the reply simple as I am still learning

In Linux, only one program can play a sound at a time unless you have a soundcard that supports hardware mixing (all/most onboard soundchips don't.)
I decided to use my pci card (a creative audigy 2 ZS). I have been having trouble before getting it to work so I thought I would use my onboard card instead. But it was fairly easy this time
(had to disable the onboard card in the bios and change the module to snd-emu10k1) and woops it worked

Only one phone at a time works with two socket ext...

I have BT infinity 2 and a BT smartphone. I wanted to have a second phone. So I bought a BT Telephone Socket Doubler/Splitter.
I plugged it in to the master socket, then the BT Smartphone which worked. Then I added the BT Freestyle 750 extension phone.
I assumed it was working until I got an email saying my phone was constantly engaged. I took out the BT Freestyle 750 and the BT Smartphone worked again.
The extension phone is apparently not designed to be the main phone, so could that be something to do with it?
The BT Smartphone is the most confusing I have ever used. When I make a call a message pops up giving the choice between internet and mobile. It didn't do that at first.
Please can somebody help? I really would appreciate it. Thank you in advance xxx

There isn't really any such thing as a master phone or an extension phone.
I wonder if the problem is that you have two cordless phones, and their base-stations are plugged in right next to each other. It may just be that the DECT signals from both are interfering with each other.

Creating iphoto book and can't seem to view/ work on only one page at a time.

I am creating an iPhoto book and can't seem to view/work on only one page at a time. The Navigator, that allows you to focus on a part of the page is actually 1 1/2 pages in size so 1 1/2 pages are in view when trying to work on one page. What am I doing wrong or how can I fix this. It is very distracting viewing half of a previous page when trying to create a new page and write a story to go with the related pictures.

My Navigator seems to be to large. It covers 1 1/2 pages while in the training information it shows as the size of one page. Is there a way to adjust the size of the Navigator?
You can hover the mouse over the left border of the Navigator - then the cursor will turn into a resize cursor and you can drag the border and make the Navigator panel smaller by enlarging the source list.
Or drag the lower right corner of the iPhoto window and shrink the appliaction window. This will only make the navigator smaller - the source list and information panel will stay the same size.

XFi Can't Handle more than one sound at a time?!?

I bought an XFi Elite Pro and it was working great. Now, however, it will only handle one sound at a time. For example, if I'm playing a song in iTunes and windows makes a sound, the itunes song cuts out, the windows sound plays, then itunes abruptly cuts back in. Same thing in games. If I'm playing Warcraft the sound will cut out if Windows makes some kind of a sound.
How do I get my card back to being able to play multiple sounds/music simultaneously? I'm running Vista Ultimate on a Quad Core system with 4 gigs of RAM.

Sound like something messed up somehow. Maybe you can consider reinstalling the drivers again? @28.86.2.0

When I plug the IPOD it should start iTunes automatically (I have the box checked) but it does not. Never has done that. I have the latest 7.1 version.
Another pain in the rear is that only one user at a time can run iTunes. That stinks. If another user has it open you MUST log off, stop them, log on. They ought to make this work for all users as other windows pro rams do. If it is doing NOTHING with the library then I ought to be able to use it.

That may be true but it is a real pain since when it happens the only way to recover is to terminate all of the iTunes modules with task manager and start it manually. It also leaves the IPOD in a state that says do not disconnect. You can disconnect since nothing is really happening but there is no excuse for this not to start much faster. When you have multiple users it is a real pain. It ought to be able to either end when finished or better yet allow multiple users simultaneously updating from different libraries.
I guess i will just have to get in the habit of treating it as a single user and start and stop it every time I need it and be suer not to let it run. Not nice because that means waiting for larger Podcast downloads instead of having there ready for me when I sign on my computer.

Try the following:
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

On the bottom bar of the window (on the left iPhoto 11, on the right in other versions) note the slider. Drag it left.

Selecting only one row at a time

Hi experts,
i have following doubt regarding selecting rows from a db:
Is there any way of selecting only one row AT A TIME from a dabase just to collect the data in rows instead of in a unique document containing all the rows?
I would like you to ellaborate on this as i need to send only one row to the IE, and then other row, and so on... without throwing any error!
I have seen that there are SELECT SINGLE and SELECT UP TO 1 ROW, but these two methods are only useful when retrieving only one row, and that does not match my requirements. I need to process all the rows but one by one..
I know that we can use the receiver jdbc adapter as if it was a sender by means of its specific datatype, but how to do it row by row??

Yes, my table has 5 not null fields but i am selecting and updating fixes values so i think that I will definetely go for the next solution:
SELECT * FROM t1 WHERE status='0' and ROWNUM<2;
UPDATE t1 SET status='1' WHERE status='0' and ROWNUM<2;
My only concern is if the update will take the same row that the select.... BTW, I think it will
..What do you guys think?
I ve been trying to operate with your proposed queries but i received some errors. Your queries are very interesting but i think that with the above ones i meet my requirements as the status field will be 0 for not processed rows and 1 for precessed ones (and the update will look for the row that meets the same 'where' clause than the select, and then, and only then, it will set status='1').
The only thing i have to care about is what i questioned before.

SCAN LISTENER runs from only one node at a time from /etc/hosts !

Recently I have to configure RAC in oracle 11g(r2) in AIX 6.1 . Since in this moment it is not possible to configure DNS, so I dont use SCAN ip into the DNS/GNS, I just add the SCAN ip into the host file like :
cat /etc/hosts
SCAN 172.17.0.22

After configuring all the steps of RAC , Every services are ok except SCAN_LISTENER . This listener is up only one node at a time . First time when I chek it from node1 , it shows :
srvctl status scan_listener
SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is enabled
SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is running on node dcdbsvr1
now when I relocate it from node 2 using
"srvctl relocate scan -i 1-n DCDBSVR2" , then the output shows :
srvctl status scan_listener
SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is enabled
SCAN listener LISTENER_SCAN1 is running on node dcdbsvr2
Baring these , we have to try to relocate it from the node2 by the following way, then it shows the error :

Multiple Qaawses but use only one Qaaws at a time

Hi,
In Dashboard , I have two Qaawses (Qaaws1 and Qaaws2). When I am trying to generate SWF file both the qaawses are running. My requirement is, in Excel file I will set a flag value in one cell (0/1).
If the cell value is '0' then the Dashboard should use only Qaaws1.
If the cell value is '1' then the Dashboard should use only Qaaws2.
In essence my requirement is, even though multiple Qaawses are present in Dashboard, the Dashboard should be able to use only one Qaaws at a time based on my requirement (i.e., based on flag bit value 0/1).
Can any one suggest, solution for this?

Thank you very much for the response and sorry for the delay.
Our actual scenario is a s follows:
We pass customer id and shipper Group Id as an input parameters to the flash variables from front end (through Java program). And these two values will written in Excel cells (let say Customer id in A1, and Shipper Group Id in B1)
Now there are two Qaawses, Qaaws1 and Qaaws2 in the xlf in addition to flash variables.
Qaaws 1 query is as follows :
select * from shp_details where customer id = A1
Qaaws 2 query is as follows :
select * from shp_details where customer id = A1 and ShipperGroup_id = B1
On front end we have two drop downs, Dropdown1 is for customer id and Dropdown2 is for Shipper Group Id.
When we select an item in Dropdown1, from front end we pass only Customer Id and when we select an item in Dropdown2, we pass both Customer Id and Shipper Group Id.
Our requirement is,
When we select Dropdown1 (we are passing only customer id), we expect only Qaaws1 to be executed.
When we select Dropdown2 (we are passing both customer id and shipper Group Id), we expect only Qaaws2 to be executed.
Please let me know, if I need to provide any further clarification.

Concurrent program to be submitted y only one user at a time

I have an issue with one of my reports. The report is using temporary tables, those will under go insertion and deletion while the report is running. So, to make sure that two or more concurrent requests submitted for same report, will not conflict, I want to make my concurrent request to be submitted by only one user at a time.
How can I do that?
Any help is appreciated.

The "run alone" box should not be checked. This indicates that this program can only run when no others are running. Pl see MOS Doc 1078462.6 (Custom SQL Concurrent Program Returns NO MANAGER Error). This option should typically not be used.
To be able to achieve what you need, set the incompatibility (as you have done) and then bounce the concurrent managers for the setting to take effect. Pl see these MOS Docs

Return only one record at a time

I am new to crystal reports so any help would be appreciated. I have a .net app that is a order processing system. When the user is in a record, they want to be able to click on a button an open a crystal report showing only that orders details. I created a crystal report that has the following fields:
Order ID, Product ID, Unit Price, Sell Price, Hours.
The Order ID is the primary key in the database. The report runs fine when clicking the report button in the app, but returns the details for every order in the database. We just need the details of the order that the user is processing. How do I setup the report to only show that order's details? I am using VB 2005 and Crystal v9.

Thank you for all your help. I have been able to setup the report to return only one record at a time. In my app, when I click the report button the PDF opens perfectly with only one record. However, when I go to another record and open the PDF it returns the information from the record id that was set as the default parameter value (crReportDocument.SetParameterValue("Orders", 67). How do I get it to return the report for a different record? Here is the code I'm using. I think I'm really close with your suggestions but I'm just missing one step.
