  • Only some photos go to photostream

Only some photos I take on my iphone end up in my photostream album. I have not updated to iOS8 yet. Please note, the problem here is with photos not going into photostream on the device they were taken on (in my case an iphone 4s) NOT with syncing between devices. I have tried all standard troubleshooting -  closed the camera app, settings for photostream and icloud are on, wifi connected, more than 20% battery, signed out and back into icloud account, turned phone off and back on. It seems very random which photos go to photostream and which do not. I took three photos within 30 seconds of each other and the second one went to photostream, the first and third did not. I have looked and looked over the forum discussions here and have yet to find a fix. My husband has the same problem with his phone and a different icloud account. Sometimes photos make it, other times they don't and this includes photos taken within minutes of each other. Now that Google Play exists, photostream is (was) the only thing keeping me from going Android. Anyone have this problem and found a true fix?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
All photos taken on the phone go to the camera roll. If photostream is enabled they should also go to photostream in addition to photos added from other devices. Photos added to photostream from other devices will not be added to the camera roll on your phone (unless you move them manually.
Photos taken on the phone should be added to camera roll immediately, it may take a few moments before they appear in photostream, while they are sent from the camera roll to the cloud and back again to photostream.
If photos aren't being added to photostream there may be a couple of reasons:
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
    If the problem persists:
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.
If this doesn't help you may need to reset photo stream. You can do this at icloud.com by clicking on your name in the top right corner and then the advanced settings in the pop-up dialogue box that appears.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • Only some photos syncing from iPhone '09 to iPhone 3GS now

To troubleshoot, I only checked boxed a single album of about 250 photos to sync to iPhone.  When I do the sync only some photos within the album sync - some but not all.  Same with other photos albums too.  Does not matter if album is regular or "smart".  Never has this issue before now.  Lack of free space on iPhone is not the issue.
Rebuilt the iPhoto library by holding Command + Alt at launch and tried most of the options.  No luck.  Then tried all six check boxes in iPhoto.
    I'm using...
    OS X Lion 10.7.1
    iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.3.5
    iPhoto '09 (8.1.2)
    iTunes 10.4.1
I must be missing something basic (I hope).  Anyone know what's going on here?

  • Why do only some photos appear in iCloud folder on my PC and not all taken on iPhone appear on iPad either? All settings seem correct and new photos now seem to be appearing on all devices, but not all older or recent photos

Why do only some photos appear in iCloud folder on my PC and not all taken on iPhone appear on iPad either? All settings seem correct and new photos now seem to be appearing on all devices, but not all older or recent photos, even if taken at same time. All advice greatly appreciated.

First, to access documents you must use an app designed for that specific Document type. So Pages will not be able to open PDFs. The Documents app by Readdle can handle PDFs though. In the latter case, you'd open the app, click the menu icon at its top left, and click Open to go to your iCloud Drive. With Pages, if you had files outside the main Pages folder, click + then iCloud and navigate to the file's location.

  • Some photo show as thumbnails but won't open

Some of my photos show up in the thumbnail view but when I attempt to open them they don't show up. I get a greyed dotted line with an ! in the center. They photos are still there because I can open them with Photoshop & Preview. I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt the library. All of the photos I was having the problem with didn't rebuild. What do I do now?

To set up PS as an external editor, you go to the iPhoto Preferences and in the General Pane, use the drop down menu at Edit Photo: to select Photoshop.
If you do this then when you double click on a pic in iPhoto it will automatically open up in PS, and then when you save it it will be automatically saved back into iPhoto.
I suspect what has happened is that as you've used PS to edit pics by going through the folders you have inadvertently altered things in the iPhoto Library Folder and that consequently iPhoto has lost track of the pics. It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss.
What to do now? I don't think you'll be able to return the iPhoto Library Folder to it's original condition, so I'm afraid you'll need to create and repopulate a new library. To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find there the Originals folder. From there drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Never changes things via the Finder. Everything you need to do can be done from the iPhoto Window. For instance, if you want to get to the files, you do this via the iPhoto Window, using one of these three methods
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
Everything you need to do can be done from the iPhoto Window. If you need help achieving something, by all means post again.

  • Iphoto.  When I play an album "slideshow" some photos show up as a blank/black screen.  Please help if you know what I am doing wrong.

    Iphoto Question
When I playing a "slideshow" album, a few photos show up as a blank screen.  Also, when I select a photo in an album to make it full screen - some photos won't "hold" - they go full screen for about a second, then the screen goes blank.  Any ideas about what I am doing wrong?  Thank you.

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Shared photostream - only my photos show up on PC

I have a shared photostream set up with some family members. Everything works great on our Apple devices but on my PC, the shared folder only shows photos that have been shared by me. Is it possible to show all of the shared photos on my PC?

  • ICloud photos are available on Apple TV and iPhone but only some are showing up on my PC.

My iCloud photos are available on Apple TV and iPhone but only habout half of them show up on my laptop (windoes 8). On my old laptop I could view all photos and download etc. I tried to trouble shoot using advice here but not I can't see any of them on my laptop.

I have the same problem. One-time events are showing up everywhere, but repeating events (the majority of my schedule!) are not showing up on icloud (they do show up on my computer at home and on my iphone...)

  • Trouble syncing photos~~only few photos show(repeat themselves), rest black

Ok. Well I have about 393 pictures on my ipod and for some reasons, almost all of them are not showing, except for about 10 new ones I added to the folder I have allowed to be synced onto my nano. Not only that, but those photos repeat themselves 3 times!! I have restarted my iPod two times, un-synced my photos and re-synced them again, and still nothing. I'm not sure if I restore the original settings would be the thing to do, but I don't want to wait for the whole iPod to sync every little thing again. Can someone please help me? I would really appreciate it!

How much space do you have in your iPod?

  • How to migrate only some photos from external hard drive/Time Machine to new Mac?

I just bought a new MacBook Air, after my old Macbook died. Luckily I had everything from the old computer backed up on an external hard drive through time machine. However, when I tried to migrate everything to my new computer, I found I do not have enough room for all of the files. I would like to import just some of the photos/albums from my old Iphoto Library but it looks like I can only migrate the entire library, or else nothing at all? Since I don't have enough space on the new computer, it's not allowing me to import any photos. Is there a way around this?

With iPhoto it's all or nothing.  Therefore get a second EHD to restore the library to.  Then you can duplicate the library, open the duplicated and delete all of the photos you don't want in it.  When that library is small enough to fit on your MBA copy it to the Pictures folder.
Then you can use the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager to copy new events from your MBA library to the library on the 2nd EHD to keep it up to date with all of your photo. There are portable EHDs that are not much bigger than a mouse (the computer kind ) that would work fine for this.

  • Only SOME Photos in an Event Folder Sync to iPhone

I keep running into this issue and it's frustrating the heck out of me.
When I sync my photos to my iphone, I select only a few Events to sync.  It will sync SOME of the photos in an Event over to the iPhone but then it stops as if it's finished when there are more pics to be sync'd in that Event folder.  For instance, one has 350 pics and it imported 51 and quit.  There's over 6 gigs of room on my iPhone so that isn't the issue.
I am using iPhone 5 with version 8.1
I am on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.7.5
And using iTunes to sync version 11.3.1 (2)
    Super frustrated.

Close iPhoto and open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder as shown in this screenshot,
Locate and move the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Desktop.  (Do no make any other changes to the contents of the package!)
Launch iPhoto and try syncing again.

  • SOME pictures (only some) not showing up in the edit frame

    Hello
Instead of viewing the picture in the edit screen, it's just grey, with an exclamation mark in the middle, and a white doted frame.
Strangely enough, this occurs only for pictures
    1, imported from a CD,
2, and only for the pictures in landscape!
In addition, this issue is new: it worked perfectelly well two weeks ago. I am not 100% sure, but I think that within the 4 updates I dwonloaded a few days ago, there was an update for iPhoto. Could it be that there is a small problem with the last update?
Other info: around 2,500 pictures in my library, all .JPG
This is my first question on the forum, I hope someone has a solution!
    Thanks in advance,

It has to be some issue with the files coming from a PC to disk and then to the Mac. Give the following a try. It's a process that will create a new library and rebuild it without touching your original library so it's nondestructive.
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.

  • Some photos were not uploaded to Photostream

Photos taken yesterday evening were not uploaded to Photostream. Automatic upload seems to have resumed today, but only the pictures I took today. Is there a way I can get last year's photos uploaded to Photostream without importing them to a computer?

Nope--sorry. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with an AppleCare rep the other day. He forwarded me a bunch of articles from the Apple website explaining what kinds of images were not compatible with the iPhone. None of that criteria, however, matched my photo.
He also had me clear my iPhone photo cache (sorry, I forget the file's actual name). While I no longer get the error message when syncing, the photos still don't sync.
While the error message just listed one picture, based on the number of photos in the album in iPhoto and the number of photos on my iPhone, it was clear that three pictures weren't syncing, but I wasn't sure what the other two photos were. He suggested trying to determine the other two pictures and then seeing what the similarities were among the three photos.
At that point though I just gave up and wrote off the problem as one I'll live with.
