Only starts when monitor is unplugged...
G4 Quicksilver -- dual 800 with AGP video card will only start if the Apple Cinema Display is unplugged from the card, or the card is removed from the machine.
Also, the internal firewire ports recently went dead and were replaced by a PCI firewire card.
Am I looking at a dead video card, or something else?
I hooked up a monitor to the VGA port on the card and it works. Is there anything I can do with the Apple Cinema Display to find out what is wrong with it? It's old, but I'm still happy with the 22" widescreen.

I have a issue with my macbook pro.
It only starts if you tilt it at a certain angle.
I have had it work and boot up normally before of I find the right angle and put a book under it.
If its not at an angle it does not boot, I can hear the Fans and th HDD start up and when it's st an angle,
Or I press it st that spot, the sleep light comes on, the DVD drive starts up and everything is fine. When I let go, it shuts off. Only, if I am
Lucky it will stay on.

firefox has started crashing every time i try to upload a new page. This has only started happening since i downloaded firefox 4.

So you are saying it works ok as long as you avoid certain pages such as this Forum. That makes me wonder if it could be malware that is blocking access to assistance.Run malwarescans with multipe and up-to-date tools.

G5 only boots up when monitor is unplugged?
Well hopefully someone can help? My G5 only will boot up and operate if I unplug the monitor. After it boots up I plug in the monitor everything works fine? If I try to re-start it with the monitor plugged in I it just powers up, hard drive spins, no chime, and then the fans will gradually speed up to cool the tower.
Any help would be appreciated
I discovered this by trying to eliminate hardware, to narrow it down. You can turn on the computer with the monitor (the glowing power light on the right of the screen) but that is about it.What monitor?
What video card?
Does it power up in safe boot ok? (Sounds like it wouldn't, since you say no boot tone, but always something to try.)
How about a hot restart? Does it still stall there?
Battery age? More than a couple of years old and some weird stuff can start happening.
Does it boot into open firmware? (holding down cmd-option-O-F keys at power on) If it does that with the monitor on, then try the following two commands:
*reset-nvram <cr>*
*reset-all <r>*
and see if that helps. (You could even do that "blind" if you are a careful typist.) -
Satellite A500 - Game only start when running fraps

i have a Toshiba Satelite A500 with a i5, nvidia GT330M card along with 4GB RAM, I'm using only drivers from toshiba and in dead rising 2 there are some major slowdowns tried
The fixes like renaming the dead rising2.exe etc it didnt work, I play at my resolution 1366 x 768 and with shadows and zombies in high along with 16 AF, leaving vertical sync, multisampling and blur off, the game is full of slowdowns similiar to lag (character starts to runs slowly).
Funny thing is that when I record with fraps (lock framerate on) I can play smoothly with no slowdowns at all, I even tested and set multisampling (AA) with 4 and turned vertical sync on and the game was stil playable with no slowdowns on very large crowds of zombies, when I'm playing normaly without fraps recording, when the game slows down I press f9 for fraps to start recording and the game imediatly starts
Running "smooth", fraps makes files very big and in a little time it would fill my disk, tried frame limit program but the slowdowns were still present :\ any opinion about this or a
possible fix for the game?srry im kinda new in this type of stuff, this looks totaly diferent from what i wrote -.-" i didnt ask the game dont open wihout fraps the question was why is dead rising 2 full of slows downs but when i record it (recording a video) with fraps there are simply no slowdows while im playing by example i play with shadows and zombies quality on high along with 16x AF and with "AA", vertical sync and blurr off and it can be allmost unplayable sometimes due to slowdowns, i play with fraps is recording with "AA" 4X and vertical sync on along with shadows and zombies on high an 16x AF that the game runs smooth with no slowdowns its just weird >.> tried some game tweaks (rename exe to RE5DX9.exe etc) but didnt work, just came to ask for an opinion or if someone knew a possible "fix".

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service. It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%. It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart. Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem. Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant. I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach. -
my macbook wont start the screen turn blue and stay like that for hrs. It only work when i use safe mode, i try to use disk utilities to fix it but the disk utilities keep saying error and a bunch of other stuff. My iphone 4S only start whit cable plug in and then show battery very low (with red line end) then try to turn on but show searching in operator name command and not connecting and no work properly and when I plug out it turn off!!! what should I do?
I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry. -
When listening to songs on my itunes acct (without ipod attached), I can only play one song at a time. It doesn't automatically play next song on list. It happens with all playlists. It only started happening when I downloaded the latest itunes update.
Are all songs checked in your playlist?

Hi, I cant login to the facebook app on my iphone 5 ios 6.0.2. I keep getting an error message saying 'There was an error logging in using single sign on' when im asked to log in again i get a 'session expired' message. This only started happening yesterday. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks.
I am having the same problem and took the following steps to mitigate it to no avail.
1. I deleted the Facebook app on the phone and turned off Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings.
2. I re-enabled Facebook in the iPhone's system-wide settings and reinstalled the Facebook app and logged in again. It worked. For about an hour.
3. I completely restored the phone to a previous backup (before the problems started) and reenabled Facebook .... reinstalled the app.... and now it works intermittenly. But it hasn't worked in about 12 hours now (just tried a few minutes ago).
Please advise. -
when i sync my iphone to my computer to update my music, it syncs as normal to my phone but it re-arranges the most played songs and puts them at the bottom of the app rather in the exact order its appearing as in itunes. this only started happening when i updated to the new iOS platform. can somebody else? i need them to sync so that my most played songs remain at the top and not the opposite!!
PLEASE HELP!You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

Is there anyway to have an 11 inch mac air connected to an external monitor with lid closed and still be able to see content. I have a wireless ketboard and mouse and have tried everything. Only works when plugged in.
You are referring to a feature called Clamshell Mode, please read Clamshell Mode setup for instructions.
