Only Super Administration role can use collaboration rooms,

The problem using portal 7.0 SP14, The users came from a SAP systems. the users with super administration role, Collaboration and CollaborationRoomCreator works perfectly, I mean, can create rooms and enter without problem, then i have an user that have standard user role, and collaboration role, and its include as member in an room, but when I try to enter to the room I get an error. and of course doesn't work... I have try with several role to enter the room, all 6 roles from collaboration, (3 specialist, 3 com.sap.pct) and nothing, Only with super admin role works.... and off course..... that not the idea...
The exception that I get is:

Your exception log message does not give much information, I would think there should be more, but at least from your description, this sounds like this well known issue.

No access to new default desktop without Super Administrator role

I have created new desktops and rule collections. All new rule collections are linked to in the master rule collection under folder 'Super adminstrators'.
Now when I try to log on as a normal user his new desktop is not displayed - instead an error message saying that he doesn't have access appears.
If I assign the user the Super Administrator role, then the correct new desktop is displayed.
What setting am I missing?

Hi,
To fix the problem with the Portal Desktop, make sure that all users that it is assigned to have permissions to it and to every folder in the path to it (including the "End User" checkbox checked).

New Super-Administrator Unable To Use quick link /message

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I am unable to use the quicklink /message because it says I do not have authorization to use the function. It says I need to request
authorization, by contacting one of the administrators at my company.
Well, I am a Super-administrator.
By the way, after clicking on HOME, under "Learn More", I clicked on "Information for New Super-administrators" and was taken to "Detailed Information for Super-Administrators." Item 4.a is titled "How to proceed if you do not have full authorization as a super-administrator?" It says:
"In case you do not have full authorization, create a message (quick link /message) with component XX-SER-SAPSMP-USR and request the assignment of the missing authorizations."
As I mentioned above, I am unable to use /message, because I don't appear to have authorization. So it's going to be hard for me to report, via using /message, that I cannot use /message.
As you can see, I am stuck in a loop. Any suggestions?

In this case, you will need to call your SAP support number and tell them about the situation and ask them to create a message for you manually.
Assuming that you are in the US based on your business card, here is the support number for you to call:
Phone +1 800-677-7271 (toll free within North America) 7x24
They may ask you the installation number for your company as well, so it would speed things up if you already know that number.

Only two Workbook roles can be seen in NW04s Bex 7.0

A user has access to over five workbook roles but when she opens
Bex 7.0 -
> Bex Analyzer--> Open Workbook-- Roles,
user can only see two workbook roles. I delete these two workbook roles, and user reopens Bex 7.0, user will see the next two workbook roles. Does this mean user can only see two roles at at time in NW04s Bex 7.0? Has anyone come accross similar case?

EOS Remote App, why is the 6D the only decent camera that can use it?

My wife and I are a team of in studio photographers. I'm am the lighting guy and she it the talented photographer. We use her 6D to connect to the iPad using the connect to smartphone feature and it is AWESOME! I can see serious details and adjust the lights as she works with the clients. I think every photographer should be using this. However, I noticed when looking to upgrade her camera that the 6D is the highest/best model that offers this. Why? This is a feature that should be on all high end cameras. Not every photographer shoots from a tripod and is teathered to a cable to a computer and then maybe to a tv just to see a large real time photo. That seems so old school and backwards to me. So the question is; will the 1 DX Mark II and the 5D Mark IV have wifi and be able to connect to the ipad? If not, what other wireless options do we have for getting a similar system? Seeing the images at such large sizes in high resolution is a huge advantage while shooting. We have saved hours editing in photoshop just from this feature alone.

In-Camera Wifi is relatively new; the 6D was the first dSLR with it. They then added it to the 70D. So they are rolling it out. The only other high end dSLR released since is the 7d2. I can only speculate why they didn't include it, but I'd guess that it's because it doesn't really fit into the scope of the 7d2, as a camera geared toward outdoor/action. Yes, I'm aware of the speculation that WiFi won't work with an all metal chassis, but I don't fully accept that; there are ways around it. There's also the simple issue of space, though I can't imagine a WiFi unit takes that much space.
If the metal chassis truly does prevent WiFi, then that would explain not putting it in the 5Ds series, and means that it won't be in any 5D/1D iterations. I was really disappointed it wasn't in the 5Ds, as one of the main times I use it is for architectural work, which is prime territory for the 5Ds. Will it be in the next generation 5D4 and 1Dx II? Who knows outside of Canon. I would guess that it'll be in the 5d4, as it's certainly a fine studio camera, and as you've noted, WiFi is spectacular for studio use. But the lack of WiFi in 5Ds makes me question that. It'd be a shame to not include it, IMHO.
WiFi is still in its infancy, but I hope Canon finally decides to push the technology. I'm sure you would agree as a lighting/studio photographer. Imagine being able to control your flash power and zoom from an iPad app while in Live view. Take photos, review them in real time (Edit in the Lightroom app) and adjust as necessary. Very powerful.

Can we block all the detials only the authorisation person can use

Two options are there
1) Dont give the authorization for change mode, ie.XD02, MM02 etc, for the said users, which your Basis team can do. Here you dont have the facility to make any particular field grey / hide etc.,
2) Create a Transaction / Field Variants via SHD0 make the required controls and hand over to end users.

Extra protection for EP super administrator

Hi,
We are currently involved in an EP6 SP3 implementation involving web-dynpro development.
We have a requirement from the client, where-in he wants extra protection for the super administrator role in EP, meaning, even though the entire portal is internet facing, the super administrator should not be able to log-onto the portal through internet, it should only be through intranet.
Is it even possible to have this functionality in EP?
This is similar to the scenario in SAP ITS, where you have all services running on a port (say port 80) and only the admin service on another port (say 81). So when you access the ITS server from internet, you can access all other services because you open port 80 on the internet, but you cannot access admin service because you do not open port 81 on internet.

Otherwise, you might ask your network guys, if they have a revserse proxy for internet access to the protal running that supports access roles based on URL or request pattern.
Then they could just add a rule that blocks logins if the super_admins's user ID ("sap*") is sent over the wire.
Additionally, Dagfinn's idea of a custom JAAS module is really good. It's definitely the more sophisticated approach but requires some custom Java coding. You could include this JAAS module in the authscheme ("the login module chain") and perform a check like:
IF client's IP is from external (e.g. the reverse proxy's IP) AND user ID = sap*
THEN let authentication fail.

Collaboration Room - Relationns between rooms

Dear all,
can you please help me? I would like to create a new room within already existing room and give acces just to few project memebers. Is it possible???
Or how I can solwe problem when is necessary to organize a big project with a lot of memebers where I have to have a lot of different contents (rooms) with different authorisation?
Is it better to create a lot of roles or create new rooms with some protected information and to give acces just some members?

I have to organize project using collaboration room. I have created private room with some memebers. But the thing is that all room memebers shouldn't have access to all documents, folders. So I am exploring what is the best solution to solve this. However it is case about big project, lot documents, folders...
Few different rooms is option but if it is not possible to make relation between them it doesn't make sence. It will look like more different projects.
Other option what you have suggested I have been trying. I have tried to restrict premission on folder level. And I remowed all permission settings what was default. And now on my Permissions list i just have one room memeber, and also on Permission Owners list i have the same member. But at the end all room members are able to see full content of this private collaboration room.

Collaboration Rooms and Document Uploads from Network

We are starting to use Collaboration Rooms and would like the Documents iview to point to our network file system, so when a user uploads a file he can do it via the portal or our network drive. We are using FSR's elsewhere and are wondering how to incorporate it into a collab room document iview. Our portal environment is NW04 Stack 12.

Hi Kris,
what you need to do is to create a collaboration room template that would integrate a KM Navigation iView that points to the file share. Of course, first you need to integrate the share via repository manager in KM.

Transactional Iviews are not showing ( with out super admin role assigned )

Please any solutions for the fallowing.
First Problem
I am not able to create the user from portal directly. Its showing the fallowing error.
An error occurred in the persistence; contact your system administrator.
so i had created the users in WAS by SU01.
Second
We have some users at production server ( Assume 5 users ). and those users need to be mapped at portal. So that those users can directly enter into portal and operate on SAP system .
If u dont mine Please provide with me the steps to fallow

i had created some transactional Iviews that are working fine when i am log in with Administrator( super administrator role). The problem is that the reports are not showing when i am log in with general user ( with out super administrator role ) .

If the Portal user name and R/3 user are the same then no problem other wise you have to do user mapping
Third Problem
Check the permissions. Right click the system object and give permissions for all
Create an alias for the system object for doing user mapping

Try creating user from http://<portalserver>:50000/useradmin

A user can only see the public area in a collaboration room

Hi all,
We have experienced that a certain user can only see the public area of
a collaboration room although the user has member rights to see more
content.
We have tried to remove the user from the room and add him again. It
did not help.
Other users have been added before and after this user without problems.
What could be wrong with this user?
