Only synching checked songs in ITunes

I only want to load checked songs in my ITunes library to my IPod. Is this possible with 7.0.
  Windows XP

Yes. Put a check mark in the box labeled sync only checked files. This is found on the summary tab while iPod is plugged in

i have itunes 7.0.2 which i assume is the same thing as 7.0 and whenever i plug in my ipod, click on the ipod icon, and go to summary tab, the only options i get are "sync music: All songs or playlists" or "sync music: selected playlists." there's no option for "only sync checked items." it's very frusterating. could you please give me very direct instructions on how to get only checked music onto my ipod? thanksss.

  • Checking songs in iTunes

I have just got a new iphone and have too much music to fit all of it on. So I have unchecked a lot of my music leaving only the songs I want to be synced on my iphone checked. This works fine and itunes only syncs the checked songs, however itunes will now not play the unchecked songs if I have it on shuffle or normal play.
How do I get itunes to play all my music on my computer while only syncing the checked ones?
    Cheers in advance.

Leave everything checked then create playlists or smart playlists and set up the iPhone to only sync specific playlists instead of your whole library. You can change playlists as needed without screwing up how iTunes plays everything.
Smart Playlists are fun because you can set them up to create and ever changing rotation of music on your iPhone which will update after each sync.

  • Only Update Checked Songs ??? What does this mean?

Hi, I was looking at my iPod preferences, and see the option "Only Update Checked Songs" What does this mean exactly? Has anyone figured it out yet?
I searched the iTunes help file and it just listed stuff about Podcasts.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

OK, my daughter and me both have iPods and only 1 computer to update them, I don't like alot of her music, I was hoping for a way to keep the automatically update setting on my iPod - so when new music was added to my library it would automatically copy those songs to my iPod, but if I didn't like them I could uncheck the songs and after the next update those songs wouldn't be on my iPod anymore.
When we became a two iPod family, I did use the manual update on my iPod for awhile but it became a pain to remember which songs I just added to the library and copy those songs to my iPod.

  • New iPad wont upload some checked songs from itunes

New iPad will not upload all checked songs in iTunes from my PC and there is plenty of space.

Solved- Some music doesnt show up under Artist view but music is there under song view.

  • Playing only checked songs on iTunes

when i play music on my iTunes, it will automatically skip to the next checked song. it won't play unchecked songs on random or straight thru. is there some setting to correct this problem?

You could also consider syncing your iPod from a selected playlist then you won't have to manage it manually. Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option (and works fine when you are working with a small number of specialised tracks such as Christmas songs) but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
Genius will not use the songs that are unchecked.
To sync the iPod from a selected playlist open iTunes and create a playlist to sync your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). Drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod.
If you want to find out what songs you currently have checked so that you can create a new playlist from them then in iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to", 25 GB (choose a value to suit the size of your library), Selected by Artist
    Check Match only checked items
    Check Live updating

  • How do I only put some songs from itunes onto my iphone?

I put all my music into my itunes (1700 songs) but only want to put 900 songs on my iphone. I have selected 'manually manage music' and 'sync only checked songs'. 'sync entire music library' is not selected, but itunes still put my whole library on my phone..?

I've had the exact same problem with my iPhone 4 ever since updating to iOS 7.1! Went through all the steps you did plus I also erased all the music off my phone and started over (per another suggestion in another forum.) Same result - all music loads. Grrrr. I really don't want to listen to Christmas music in April!

  • Recently started using "Remote" works great, but shows the entire library instead of only the checked songs

    Hello,
In my itunes libraryI've got about 3000 songs, I only play 500 at a time. For my iphone I just Check the songs I want to sync, as well with Logitech SqueezBox.
Recently I've started using the iTunes Remote, that works great, but it shows all the songs. is there any way to fix that?
Any way to change the setting in which it will only show the Checked songs?
    Thank you very much

Make sure you don't have the Manually manage music and videos box check on the Summary tab

  • Syncing Checked Songs in Itunes?

Hey there i was just wondering if somebody knows how to sync only the checked music in my itunes to my ipod?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey there,
    Try this:
When your iPod is plugged in and appears in iTunes, under the Summary tab, look for the Options section. Make sure there is a check mark next to "sync only checked songs and videos." Then hit Apply to update the changes and that should do the trick for you.
    Hope this helped.

  • Only play local songs with iTunes Match?

    Hey,
I have iTunes Match set up. It all working well. Except on my MacBook Pro, when I play my library in shuffle I expect it to only play the songs that are locally stored, but instead it keeps downloading new tracks from iCloud. Which interrupts my listening while it buffers and gets the song. Not only that it uses up my storage on my MBP. I only want select songs on here with my whole library being on my desktop.
Is there a way to only play local songs? Short of tunring iTunes Match off and on everytime I want to get more songs.
    Thanks,
    J.

Yeah, try a Smart Playlist with this criteria:

  • ITunes Genius Only Doing Checked Songs

Is there a way to use the Genius feature on my entire library without checking all the songs? I have way too many songs and I only have 4 gigs of them checked for my iPhone so that I can update it easily, but I like listening to all the others when I'm at home and not using my iPhone. I want to have Genius results of all the songs, is there a way to do that?

Some formatting has been lost from my older post. Perhaps this simplified version will help::
    Make the following playlists:-
Unchecked - Smart Playlist with the rules Playlist is Music and Checked is false.
Exclude - Normal playlist - once created drag the contents of Unchecked into it - this records all your currently unchecked items.
Sync - Smart Playlist with the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Exclude. You could also add a Limit to X Gb selected by most recently added to make sure it can't grow too large for the space on your device that you want to allow for music.
You can now throw away the first playlist and check your entire library (control click an unchecked box). Change your iDevice sync rules to sync with the Sync playlist. New music will always be included. Older stuff will come off if your sync list grows too large. Drag stuff you know you don't need onto the Exclude list and other stuff can pop back into Sync to fill the available space.
You can then shuffle everything, except anything you later decide to uncheck or set as Exclude from Shuffle. What gets synced is everything except the music you deliberately choose to exclude by thowing it into the Exclude playlist. It will take a few minutes to set up the playlists and change your sync options, after which it is almost as easy to maintain as the checkbox method, and a lot harder to accidentally lose all your selections, plus you get to shuffle what you want.

  • I cant delete music from my iphone since downloading iOS 7 i have tried synching it and making sure that i only download checked songs bt still wont get rid of them..can anyone help?

After downloading ios7 i cant delete msuic from my iphone can anyone help?

    Hello Amanda,
I wonder if you are seeing your iTunes in the Cloud purchases.  The items you see with the iCloud icon next to them are purchased songs that you can stream from iTunes in the Cloud.  You can hide these songs in Settings on the iPhone:
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud: Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
These steps are from the iPhone User Guide:
    iPhone User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph6e2dfb83
If there are just specific songs you would like to hide, you can hide them using the iTunes Store on your computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
Once you hide the songs on your computer, I recommend quitting and relaunching the Music app on your iPhone.  You can find more information about hiding purchases here:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4919
If the songs do not display a cloud icon next to them, try deleting them directly from the iPhone using these steps:
    Tap the Music app.
    Tap the Songs category.
Swipe left to right over the song you want to delete.
    Tap Delete.
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, or Mac App Store
