ONLY SYNCS ONE DIRECTION

ONLY SYNCS ONE DIRECTION
Syncs from computer to phone only...not from phone to computer
WHAT'S UP WITH THAT??

Syncs what in one direction only?
With the iTunes sync process, some data is transferred in one direction only such as iTunes content - music, movies, tv shows, 3rd party apps, and photos from your computer, and some data is kept synchronized with a supported application on your computer such as with contacts, calendar events, notes, and Safari bookmarks.
With Sync Music, Sync Movies, Sync TV Shows, and Sync Apps selected under these tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading music, a movie, a tv show, or a 3rd party app direct with your iPhone, it will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.

  • Calendar only syncs one direction.

When I try to sync one of our 2 Iphones, I have to plug it into the computer physically.  It will pick up or add or update whatever had been entered on the computer previously, but won't move what was entered on the phone's calendar to the other devices it is supposed to be sync'ed with.
I'm sure it is just a matter of a box unchecked somewhere, but the other phone syncs just fine (no need to tether it and it exchanged information with the computers just fine) and I cannot find any difference in the way they are set up.

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • ICloud calendar only syncs one direction

Not sure if I have things set up right.
If I create a Calendar event on my Mac it syncs & appears on both my wifes & my iPod Touch (same apple id)
But events we create on our iPods just stays on our own iPod & does not sync to all 3 locations.
Is there some settings I should check?

  • Can't synch calendar appts with outlook 2007 but only in one direction?

i have the verizon iphone and aside from this one MAJOR glitch, i'm loving the phone. no dropped calls, and well, i had a palm centro, so this is a major upgrade in every way except for this one MAJOR glitch...
i'm synching my iphone with my work pc and using outlook 2007 on my company's exchange server. i first synched an ipad last month and now this iphone to my laptop and exchange and i'm having the problem with both actually.
i can add an appointment on my laptop and it pushes to my calendar on my iphone and ipad. BUT if i add an appointment on my iphone or ipad, it doesn't update to my calendar on my laptop. this is very strange!! i can see the added appointment from either one of the idevices on the other, BUT it never pushes to my laptop calendar. however, at the time i add the event, i'm looking at my laptop calendar and in the lower right corner where the exchange status bar is, i can see it quickly switch to say "waiting to update folders" and then it goes back to "all folders are up to date." so it appears that the devices and laptop outlook are communicating in some capacity, but the appointment doesn't make it to it's final destination on the calendar.
it gets even more strange. if i even EDIT an existing event from either one of my idevices, it will ERASE the event on my laptop calendar. to be clear, i don't know if this problem began with the initial intro of the ipad last month as i had never used it to edit calendars and only discovered it when i decided to test all scenarios.
so basically my i devices are communicating and pushing updates between each other, but my laptop updates are only pushing in one direction. if i do anything from either idevice it either doesn't push or it ERASES IT??!!
this is a major problem, but what i'm not certain of is where the origin is. is it iphone related, pc related, exchange related, software, firmware, hardware?
oh and otherwise everything else pushes fine in both directions with outlook exchange: contacts, email, even notes (although iphone notes are useless)
sorry for the lengthy explanation, but i am just stumped.
thanks in advance for any help!! if no luck, guess i'll have to try bellying up to the genius bar...

Found the problem. The iMac G5 that I couldn't connect to (but could connect from) was actually connected to another company's wireless network that is on our floor. After switching back to our network all problems were resolved. A relief...

  • Why does file sharing with OS 10.8.3 fail only in one direction?

I'm having trouble getting file sharing to work in both directions.
I have a late 2012 Macmini and an early 2013 MBP, both running OS 10.8.3.
I can get my mini to connect to the MBP, access the public folders, and even share screen.
Going the other way from the MBP, the connection fails.
Taking cues from all the other discussions of the question, I have created an additional
administrator on the MBP and given him sharing only privileges on the mini. Booting in
Safe mode works fine on the MBP. And, I deleted preference lists related to sharing and security
    on both machines.
I have verified both HDs, and repaired all permissions with Disk utility.
Although the name of the mini shows up in the sidebar of the MBP, neither admin user on the MBP
succeeds in connecting to the mini. It's always the same message - check the IP, etc.
I'm wondering if I can use Time Machine to back up the one "real" home folder on the MBP,
then completely rebuild the user list on the MBP, restore the home folder from TM, and clear things up that way.
I've been fooling with this since long before the 10.8.3 update. After that update, it frequently failed in either direction
until I started in on it again this morning and got the mini-to-MBP link to work.
Any help will be very greatly appreciated!!
    Bob

    Thanks, Linc!
I can connect the mini to my wife's AirBook and share her screen.
I can connect via wired connection to a USB printer, as well as to a wireless printer
    on our network.
The firewalls on both machines are OFF.
That gave me an idea to connect the two laptops.
I can connect the AirBook to the MBP, but to share screen I must use the
    "ask permission" radio button.
I can connect the MBP to the AirBook and access wife's public folder.
Screen sharing option does not come up.
    Her firewall is also off.

  • Razr- only syncs one way

Hi there. My boyfriend got a Razr and he was able to iSync his Address Book perfectly fine. The iCal part did not show up in his Calendar on his V3 Razr though... I did a test, added an entry on the Razr, then synched up. Oddly enough, what I added on the phone ended up as a new event in iCal, but the events I've added in his iCal will not show up on the Razr.
Anyone know what the heck is going on here??? Please help. Thanks.

It's difficult to say what precisely is happening, as a number of factors may be affecting transfer of data from the truth database to your mobile handset and to iCal.
Which specific RAZR V3 is this - a GSM V3, a V3c, a V3i or V3x? And who is the wireless carrier providing the handset?
What happens generally with the synchronization of calendaring data is this: information flows not directly between your device and iCal, but rather though an intermediate file known as the truth database, or simply the truth.
Motorola RAZR V3 <==> the truth <==> iCal
If you are interested in a more comprehensive explanation, you can find one in this Apple Developer note concerning the Sync Services framework:
    http://developer.apple.com/macosx/syncservices.html
To reset the truth, launch iCal and select Reset Sync History… from the Preferences… dialog. Follow the instructions there and you will be afforded what appears to be an initial synchronization event, in which you will be asked if you want to Replace the data on your mobile handset or Merge data with it. Select Replace to overwrite the data. Subsequent synchronization should work as expected—with data transfered in both directions—without additional problems.

  • Two computers, but icloud is only syncing one way

I have a desktop and a laptop.  Both with MacOX 10.7.2    Both have cloud turned on with the same Apple ID.  Both have calendar and address book syncing selected.   On both machines Calendar and Address Book have icloud accounts set up in the preferences.
The laptop's one address book entry made it to the cloud, and then made it back down to the desktop.
The desktop's 200 address book entries have gone nowhere.   Not in the cloud, and not to the laptop.
If I add a new address to the laptop,it instantly goes to the cloud and down to the desktop (it is impressive     If I add a new address to the desktop, it goes nowhere.
    Same behavior in the calendar
Not sure what else to check.  I can't see any way to 'push' data up.   Software update shows everythign is up to date.   checking icloud.com I can only see the one laptop address.
    Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Always, the second after I post a question....
On the desktop I signed out of icloud and signed back in.  That was enough to kick the cloud to re-sync everything and both computers seem to be talking now.   (yah yah, should have tried that too before posting).   have to admit - signing out of the cloud was scary - lots of warnings that "I'll delete cloud-only things from this computer".   ouch.

  • ML 10.8.1 Calender only syncing one-way

Okay, so the problem is that my Mac Calendar is not syncing its events to iCloud. However, it does work the other way around.
My e-mail and contacts synchronization is working just fine.
    So:
Event made on Mac Calendar -> iCloud / iPhone / iPad does NOT work
Event made on iCloud.com / iPhone / iPad -> Mac Calendar DOES work
Troubleshooting I’ve done (and please read carefully):
*Verified that I’m not accidently writing in a local calendar on the Mac
*Verified that I’m not out of space; I have 21,81 GB available
*Verified I’m really looking to the correct date & time
*Created a new, empty, calendar to test with; no solution
*Hit the Sync button manually a thousand times
*Passwords are correct and even changed them, just to be sure
*A fresh install without restoring any back-ups. After letting iCloud sync, the problem still persists!
So once again: Even on a clean install of Mountain Lion with only iCloud logged in, the problem is still not solved.
Events created on the Mac calendar are not syncing to iCloud.
When I look into the Console, I see several error messages, which are not recognized by Google nor do I know what it exactly means.
    An example:
    31-08-12 19:02:04,251 CalendarAgent[3467]: [com.apple.calendar.store.log.caldav.queue] [This change request has been materialized into a queueable operation before.  Change request: [<CalManagedMessageChangeRequest: 0x7f91634e5d50> (entity: MessageChangeRequest; id: 0x7f9164271af0 <x-coredata://A50C70DE-D8F0-4D80-997C-603F5B8FDEEF/MessageChangeRequest/p2> ; data: {

        type = 21;
})].  First materialized date: [2012-08-31 07:27:19 +0000]. Existing error: [(null)]]
I'm using a MacBook pro 7,1 with a legit version of Mountain Lion.
    What sorcery is this?

I can confirm it probably has to do with my account.
I've just removed all shared calendars, and on the new account with my gf's iCloud everything works smoothly.
I've also removed all shares of my own calendar, leaving only my personal calendar. However, it still does not work.
So your suggestion is to now export all calendars, then remove all calendars, and then test with new calendars?
But what do I do if it's still not working then? Because then I have no calendar data on my devices, and then I'll probably die because I'd even forget to breathe without my agenda.

  • Windows File Sharing - Slow only in one direction?

    Hi everybody,
I'm having a really strange problem with my network. I'm copying files between my G4 Mac mini and Windows XP Home machine, both with all of the latest OS updates. The computers are connected via a 10/100 switch and both are connecting at 100baseTX, full duplex. I have Windows File Sharing running on the Mac mini and I am sharing my entire user directory on the Windows machine as well. So I'm doing all of the file sharing over SMB.
Almost everything works fine--there's just one issue: file copies from the Windows XP machine to the Mac are incredibly slow. Transfers in every other direction work fine. If I connect from the Mac to the Windows machine and copy a file to the Windows machine, or if I'm on the Mac and I download a file from the Windows machine, it's fast. It's also fast if I connect from the Windows machine to the Mac and copy a file from the Mac--a 16 MB file copies in 5 seconds or less. But if I'm on the Windows machine and I try to copy a file to the Mac, it goes VERY slowly--a 16 MB file copy is now measured in minutes instead of seconds.
I googled around and found some people adding a line to their smb.conf file to fix it, but I tried adding the line to no avail (and of course, restarted windows file sharing and killed smbd to make sure it re-read the config file). I also saw some people who fixed it by making sure the network cards on both machines were manually set to 100baseTX, full-duplex--tried that too, didn't make a difference (it's autodetecting properly in my case anyway).
Anyone seen this before? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! By the way, I just completely reformatted the Windows machine and did a complete reinstall of Windows XP(why do you think I prefer Macs? ) and it had this problem before as well, so as far as I know, the Windows machine doesn't have some crazy virus or something causing it.

    Mac mini G4 1.42 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Thanks for the reply! I had been on that site but I had been getting there through Google, so I went ahead and did a search on the site and found an article about speeding up Samba:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051107090652912
There was a discussion below the article with people who had problems similar to mine, so I tried a suggestion near the bottom, adding the line:
    large readwrite = no
To the Mac's smb.conf file, and now everything is fast like it should be. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! This problem has been plaguing me for months.

  • Calendar app only syncing one of my Google Calendars

I got my iPad, and at first, the Calendar app syncing my one google calendar no problem.  All the events were the same color and it was difficult to read, so my solution was to take the events and move them into different google calendars based off their category (school, work, tv, etc...).  I now have 6 Google Caledars and all are under the same google account.
The problem is, when I tried to sync these new calendars to my ipad, none of them showed up, just the one calendar that synced the first time.  Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
I synced my calendars by first syncing my Gmail with my iPad, and then choosing calendars with the slider under the settings.
Thanks for any help, and it may just be an issue of time, but it looks like the calendar app looks for updates each time you open it.

I figured it out...I had to visit this page click here, and check the additional calendars I wanted synced....so easy!

  • Calendar only Syncs one way

I recently made large changes to my iCal involving my whole schedule, and when I connected my iPhone I expected that it would sync so that my phone would now match my computer, but my computer keeps insisting that my computer's iCal be changed to match my phone. Where are the controls to the change this?
It might be a stupid question, but an annoying situation nonetheless.

    One thing that might help.
When you connect the iphone, click on the info tab.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page on the info tab and there are check boxes to replace the data on the iphone.
    Hope this helps.
