Only two computers authorized but ACC songs won't copy to iPod.

Today I purchased some new music from iTunes. Once I was finished downloading iTunes informed me that I might want to upgrade the software on my iPod. I did. Then when it went to sync everything it came up with the following message.
"Some of the items in the iTunes library including "Say It Ain't So", were not copied to the iPod "Ben's iPod" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
I checked online and iTunes say that only 2 computers are authorized, which means I've got 3 to go. The other weird thing is that these new songs and some other protected ACC songs purchased form iTunes were copied and work fine on my iPod. Does anyone know what's going on here. I'm stumped.

your initial reply, which at first seemed promising, has now taken me to a whole other level of difficulty. allow me to elaborate.
1) i have attempted to play one of the aforementioned purchased songs in my itunes library, per your advice (not on my ipod, but on my imac). upon doing so, i get the error message:
"This computer is not authorized to play "______." Would you like to authorize it? The message box displays the Apple ID and asks me for the password.
2) all well and fine, except that the email address which displays in the message box as my Apple ID is old and obsolete--way obsolete. So of course, if I enter my present password, it will not match this old ID.
3) i attempted to change this old ID to my present ID. when I did so, my present ID, which DOES match my present password (and, thus, which i DON'T want to change), showed up as the ID to change.
4) what do i do? at this point i'm stuck.

  • My computer is authorized, but the song won't play

My 17" MacBook Pro has long been authorized to play music I purchased on iTunes. I have never had a single problem playing any music I purchased either on the MacBook or my Windows PC (before I had the MacBook).
Yesterday, I upgraded my OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I had some strange problems with iTunes involving podcasts, but I got those straightened out. And again, no problems AT ALL playing music I purchased before the upgrade.
I just purchased a song from the iTunes Store using the MacBook. It downloaded and I attempted to play it. It pops up a window saying my computer is not authorized to play the song. I typed in my Apple ID and my password, and it said, "This computer is already authorized" and told me it was one of two computers of a possible five.
I again tried to play my song. Got the same pop-up.
In short: I just purchased the song on this computer and it WILL NOT ALLOW me to play it.
    Help?
(iTunes is also updated to the latest version.)

Thank you, Niel. That worked, although it was touch and go there for a while as to whether it would let me download the song again. But when I tried to repurchase it, it let me.

  • HT1420 I have only three computers authorized, but it's saying I have five? What should i do?

Okay so i recently got a new laptop and i went to authorize it to sync my music, which is quite large (over 6,000 songs), and it told me i already have five computers authorized. There are only two other computers in the house that have authorization so im not sure what to do. Any advice?

Return it for a Refund... If you can...

  • Only 1 computer authorized, but some songs tell me I have 5 authorized.

I recently purchased a Macbook, and transferred all of my iTunes to the new computer. However, now a handful of songs are telling me that I need to authorize the computer. So, I follow the prompts to authorize, and it tells me that I cannot authorize this computer because 5 computers are already authorized.
I then go into my account information and it only shows that I have 1 computer authorized. It only seems to be on certain songs.
I have had the same account for the life of my iTunes.
So, I am now unable to play certain songs in my iTunes, and it's screwed up my iMovie as some of the "unauthorized" songs are in the movies.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I found the same help page last night, and did just that. It deauthorized my computer only once. I also deleted the SC Info folders, but nothing changed. The one thing I did not do after deleting the SC Info folders was restart the computer...can't remember if I did that after deauthorizing/authorizing. Any thoughts on if that can possibly make a difference?
    Thanks for the help.

  • SONGS WON'T COPY TO IPOD

For the first time (I've had iTunes and an iPod for a long time), I'm getting an error message when I sync my iPod that says that "[s]ome of the items in the iTunes library...were not copied to [my iPod] because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
Umm, what the f---? Why is this happening?
There are 103 songs that won't copy, and at first glance it appears that the first 103 songs I ever purchased are the very 103 that won't copy onto my iPod.
Anyone have any ideas about what is going on here? I am reasonably sure that I haven't copied all 103 of these songs to disc 5 times, or whatever the limit is.
Thanks in advance to all who answer.

  • Some songs won't copy to Ipod from Itunes

    Hello all,
A bunch of songs won't transfer to my ipod and I can't figure out why...
Exact message: "Some of the items in the Itunes Library, including "..." were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod" Then it says there are "101 problems - see below"
I counted the tracks, there are actually 63. (My library has about 6000 tunes.)
I've recently upgraded to buy the new DRM free songs, but I don't see the connection.
I checked the Kind, Sample Rate, and Bit rate and there doesn't seem to be any differences between these and others.
I converted the songs to mp3-192s, trashed the originals, still won't transfer.
I still have 10GB of space left on my iPod, so it's not a space issue.
Most are songs I purchased in the I-tunes store.
The only thing these songs have in common is that they all were loaded in the same session.
They were on my iPod before I upgraded to 7.2
    I'm on a G4 laptop, OS 10.4.9 1.67 PowerPC.
    Running I-Tunes 7.2
    Video iPod version 1.2.1

I was shocked to see your post. I was just about to paste this new thread:
After updating iPod software to 1.1.3 for my nano 8GB, there are 101 songs that iTunes refuses to sync to the nano, saying:
Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "Great Escape", were not copied to the iPod "My iPod" because they cannot be played on this iPod.
When I use the disclosure triangle to see details, all songs give the same info, for example:
"Multiply" was not copied because the file type is not supported by the iPod "My iPod".
But these are all just MP3 files. Some, if not all, of them were purchased in the iTunes store, then burned to a standard CD (aiff?), then later reloaded. They've all been played before on this iPod. I still have the original protected song files filed away, and I could pull them out, but I shouldn't have to do that. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks.

Sully, I think it is an odd coincidence that we both have "101 problems". I thought this was an iPod problem at first, but I have reset the iPod and started all over. The problem persists. I think the problem is in iTunes. In my case at least, there seems to be a list of m4p files within iTunes that were on this iPod before, files that i have replaced with regular mp3 files now, and iTunes doesn't want to copy over them. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

  • Up-to-date software but iTunes songs won't copy to nano

    Hi,
My Itunes and Ipod nano software are both the latest version, but I bought 2 songs from iTunes yesterday and I can't move them to my nano. I get the following message: "Some songs in the iTumes music library were not copied to the iPod because your iPod sofware is too old." However, as I mentioned, my iPod software is up-to-date. I downloaded the software updater, and when I ran it, the "update" option was not available because I already have the latest version.
Thanks for any advice! Happy Holidays

Connect in what way? Outside of iTunes you will not be able to use airplay (ie for mirroring) unless you use a 3rd party program like Airparrot.

  • My Itunes keeps telling me I can't play certain songs because I already have five computers authorized, but I don't???

My Itunes keeps telling me I can't play certain songs because I already have five computers authorized, but I don't???  How do I fix this.  I know over the years, I have had a lot of different computers at my work and that is the only place I use my Itunes at.  So how do you unauthorize a computer that isn't even around anymore??

Make sure that yo have the boxed chanced to only sync the checked music. It appears that it is trying to sync ore than those.
You can try unsycing all music and resyncing.

I currently have 5 computers authorized but 2 of them I no longer own.  How can I deauthorize only those 2 computers?

You cannot deauthorie a computer without access to that computer.
You can deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

  • ITunes says I have 2 computers authorized but I really have 3

iTunes says I have 2 computers authorized  (iPod Touch and MacBook Pro). However, until recently, I had 3 computers authorized but my iMac mysteriously disappeared from the list a few days ago. When I try to authorize my iMac, iTune says it's already authorized. Why did my iMac computer disappear from the list and how do I get it back on the list so I can continue to update Apps, etc, on my iMac?

Even though my iMac wasn't appearing in the authorized computer list, I tried to de-authorize it and this evening it worked. It actually de-authorized the computer. Yesterday I tried this same step and iTunes didn't allow me to de-authorize. After I de-authorized, I authorized the iMac. However, the iMac still wasn't appearing in the authorized computer list. I logged out of iTunes.
As a last resort, I decided to play a t.v. movie I had purchased on this computer using my one an only iTunes account. After I played a couple of minutes of the movie, I stopped it and logged into my iTunes account.
Hurray, finally my iMac is appearing in the authorized computer list and I'm able to update my purchased apps on my iMac.

  • HT1420 It keeps telling me that I have more than 5 computers authorized, but I do not?

It keeps telling me that I have 5 computers authorized, but I do not have 5 computers.

Once you've authorized a computer it is authorized forever untill you "unauthorize" it.  So if you have had a computer and gotten rid of it, or authorized a friends computer to use for awhile, or anything else then you've authorized computers up to your limit.

My Itunes opens on my PC but the songs won't play.  I have no idea about what to do to resolve the issue.  I appreciate any help.  It is an HP computer about a year old running Windows 7.

Try forgetting the network, reboot your iPad and then try joining the network again.
Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Forget this network. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap Join.
If that doesn't work, reset network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Reboot the iPad again. Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap join.
