Only two of four DIMM slots seem to work, what is going on?

My machine has 2x128Mb RAM factory installed. I just purchased 2x256 modules from Apple. When I installed new modules in open slots, only the new modules were found. In other words, machine showed I had 512Mb RAM. Then I switched the location of the modules, old to outer slots, new to inner, and now machine thinks I have only 256Mb RAM.
I am sure the modules are seating in the connectors.

Need only two decimal places, but BigDecimal isn't working

Hello again. This time I've got a problem with getting only two decimal places. I tried using BigDecimal but when I compile it, I get an error "cannot find symbol class BigDecimal" and a "cannot find symbol variable BigDecimal".
Grrr... I just want my value to have only 2 decimal places before it ends up in my text field.
Any help will be appreciated.

Isn't it better to import whole packages instead so
you can have everything available when you call them?
I mean, it's kinda hard to import individual classes
everytime you need to call them.No. You can get conflicts when importing complete packages. If you importjava.awt.*;
java.util.*;and then declareList list;the compiler does not know which List you meant, java.util.List or java.awt.List.

On some websites, some characters load as only boxes with four numbers/letters in them. What is this, and how do I get it to display the characters properly?

Pages that use Unicode (UTF-8) display a little box with the hex code if the character can't be displayed. That allows you to look up the character in a table.
This can be caused by missing font support for East Asian (CJK: Chinese, Japanese, Korean) or complex script (Indic) languages.

Premiere export option are grayed, only two options aren't gray, and neither are what i need please help!

i am new to premiere pro, i recently edited a whole short film, effects, music, everything, but it will not give me an option to export. the only export options are: AAF and FINAL CUT PRO XML, can anyone please help me figure out how to fix this? i really dont think i can remake this project! and its due by the end of the week! i need to export as a regular avi/movie file, to upload to youtube and send in an email and burn on a disk. ive tried a few things, including searching online for answers but i havent had any luck on my own. please please help!

Noise reduction (audio) doesn't seem to work - what am I missing?

In a clip that I'd really like to use, there is a pervasive buzzing hum throughout, especially noticeable in long shots where there isn't any competing or overriding sound.
I've read the instructions in the manual for taking and saving a noise print of the noise itself (there is a perfect segment in the clip to use for this), and for applying it to the entire clip by Selecting All and going to Process>Noise Reduction>Reduce Noise, then applying the saved Preset. Also watched the video, which gave exactly the same directions. The Noise Reduction line appears in the Actions tab underneath the clip name, and it looks like it's processed, but when I bring the HUD up and hit the Play button, nothing has been removed. The offending sound is still there.
If I click on the Noise Only box in the HUD, there is no sound at all, which seems to indicate that Noise Reduction hasn't actually been applied.
I've deleted the file from Finder and started from scratch twice, but still can't get it to work.
Obviously the Noise Reduction can't just "not work" - so as a new user of Soundtrack (3.0.1), what have I not understood?

When you get to Process > Noise Reduction > Reduce Noise, usually a preset isn't the answer, but some manual fiddling.
Here's the way I approach this:
1. When I set the noise print, I play/loop the clip and note the level of the noise in your meters. When I get to the threshold in the noise reduction window, that level will be the extreme highest threshold I use, only going lower from there.
2. When it comes to the reduction, I check the Noise only box while I'm setting it, and boost the reduction until I'm getting noise, but not too much signal I want to preserve. If I hear voice in there, I'm doing too much. And I rarely end up going beyond 60%.
3. Uncheck the noise only box, and listen to the signal with noise reduced to fine tune further.
Remember this is noise reduction, not noise elimination. And, the STP tool is pretty good for what it is, but it's not anywhere near the best out there.

Hello I have a iPhone 5S all of a sudden my music that I have purchased only plays on 1 speaker. I thought it was a bad audio cable so I brought it back to the store. Only to have the same thing happen again. What is going on?

I have a iPhone 5s all of a sudden my music on my iPhone would only ply oit of one speaker in the car. I thought it was the Audio Cable went and brought another Audio Cable and the same thing again. I than plugged my son phone which is a NOTE 3 into the Audio Cable and it started playing fine. I purchase all of my music from the Apple Store and one of the reasons is because I enjoy listening to my phone with my playlist inside my car. Has anyone else experienced this? Apple needs to fix this ASAP or refund me my money back for all the songs I purchased.

If you connect headphones to your 5s do you also hear music on from one side?
If yes get a light and inspect the headphone jack and clean out any dirt/debris/ etc. you find in there.
If that does not fix it you will need to get your iPhone replaceed under your warranty.

After a call connects, my iphone 4 makes a jackhammer sound in my car only. does not happen in other cars. what is going on with my car to interfere with reception?

My line in sound doesn't seem to work, what's wrong with it?

I've tried plugging in several mircophones with 1/8" jacks ( I think that is the small standard headphone ones.) The thing is none of these work. The problem is they all say they work with mac. I need to get one of these to work. I've gone to the system prefs and go to the sound settings and I don't get any farther in my mission to get this to work. Please and thank you to the help I get.

First up when you go into Speech you are using the built-in microphone which has sufficient 'gain' in the circuit in order to work.
When you plug an external microphone into your PB you are actually plugging a microphone into a 'line input' that is an input designed to accept signals at 'line' level not microphone level. So you either need to get yourself a microphone amp to boost the signal before the input to the PB or a 'line' level microphone. Same thing really except the amp is included in the microphone.

Safari only loads pages if I refresh each time. What is going on? Loading problem

Currently I had to refresh every single page to post this question.
My Safari 5.1.2 is not loading pages correctly. I click on a link or enter in a url to go to any website and Safari goes and tries to obtain waht I asked for, but stops loading after 60-80% is done (based on loading items on bottom info bar). I wait for another 120 seconds, and still nothing.
I hit the stop loading button and press refresh and the page loads automatically perfect. This is frustrating to use right now, and I do not have any other browsers to try anything else on. Why am I having this problem?

Delete the cache lately?
Quit Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari.
Move the Cache.db from the com.apple.Safari folder file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari.
If that didn't help, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari
Select the top 5 boxes, click Reset.
BTW, if Safari isn't working at all, having a backup browser installed can help. If you need to re download Safari or support files you can.

I just downloaded the Chambers Thesaurus app and paid $7.45. Then I saw the OED app and paid $25.99 for that. Now I find, to my surprise and disgust that these two apps are identical in every way. What's going on?!

You can contact billing about a refund there, but I've heard that ALL sales are final through the app store.

Does the iMac with Retina 5K Display have "user accessible" SO-DIMM slots or not?

The Apple Site "http://www.apple.com/imac-with-retina/specs/" for the iMac with Retina 5K Display states for memory that it has "four SO-DIMM slots, user accessible". What does that really mean? Contact with Apple support indicates that the newest iMac is sealed, therefore I MUST order it with all of the memory I need, or I would have to break the seal (tear it apart) to upgrade the memory later to get to the memory slots...there is no access door as there was in earlier iMacs. Is the memory in slots or soldered in? How can that be interpreted as "user accessible"? This seems very misleading, or Apple support has it wrong.
Sorry if this seems like a rant, but it sort of is. Does anyone know the facts on this?

The previous 27 inch iMacs had the same statement. It means that the user can access the memory slots and add or change ram. There is an access panel on the iMac. On 21 inch iMacs there is no door and the ram is not user accessible.
