Onlybalances on local currency - incorrect foreign currency valuation

Dear all,
I have the following problem:
My customer created some manual accounts and did tick the box for only balances in local currency. Now my customer wanted to do foreign currency valuation on these accounts. I told the customer to make balance zero on account, un-tick "local currency" on GL account master record. And then reverse the document wihich makes the balance zero. This worked fine. But now when the customer wants to do foreign currency valuation (on balances) only new postings after the GL account master data change will be taken into account for balance.
It must be possible to change this? So that balance in document currency and local currency is correct when comparing to for example line items in fbl3n.
Very gladful for any help!
BR Åsa

Thank you for the information. Just want to make this clear. I did the following. Acoount number is 166000.
1. Amount in document currency: balance 5000 PLN (debet)
Amount in local currency: 12000 SEK (debet)
2. Post a GL account document:
Credit 12 000 SEK account 166000
Debet 12000 SEK account 168000 (or any other account).
3. Un-tick only balances in local currency on GL account master data
4. Reverse the GL document created in step 2 above.
5. Test run foreign currency valuation on account 166000 does not show any postings (no balance in other currency).
Can you please help me with what to do exactly? (GL postings)
Thank you very much!

  • Posting in local currency on foreign currency account/correctionOfValuation

    Hi everybody!
I have a problem, and I hope someone will help me.
Is there any way to make posting in local currency on account with foreign currency as the account currency?
The reason why I'm asking this, is that I have to make corrections to currency valuation.
This is the situation: they made foreign currency valuation for last period of previous fiscal year. Instead without reversing, they made it with reversing, on the first day of 1. period in the new fiscal year. After this, they made reversing (fb08) of reversing document created by valuation program. Of course, after all, they have wrong valuation for every next period.
I have to make corrections in 3. period (1. and 2. are closed).
This is my idea: I want to make valuation for date 31.12.2006. with postings in 3. period, without reversing, and than, to make posting of valuated amount, but with opposite sign mark (if the valuation was 1000EUR debit, I'll make 1000EUR credit). I want to have effect of reversing, without running fb08.
Balance for the 3. period will be 0, but every next valuation will be ok (it will valuate difference for 31.12.2006., not difference for document posting date).
If anybody have idea how to make posting on foreign currency account, or the other way to make correction of valuation, I'll be grateful.
    Best regards

Create one FI documents with multiple line items as per the following example. In this case you need to enter amount in both local currency and in document currency fields-
If you want to post credit of USD 5.00
Line 1: Local currency  Dr. USD 5; Doc currency =x
Line 2: Local currency  Cr. USD 10; Doc currency =x
Net impact in local currency is Cr USD 5 and doc currency is nil.

  • Incorrect Foreign Currency Calculation

    GoodDay,
Can anyone provide some guidence on the cause of the follwoign problem.
    Local Currency (LC) - TTD
    Foreign Currency (FC) USD
Money will been taken out of our CItibank Acount creating a credit to the account 10600 Citi NY USD REAL.  On the day the acocunt is credited in Foreign Currency the equivalent in Local Currency  is calucated based on the rate entered on that day in the rate table.
When the money is  re-entered into the account, in Foreign Currency on another day, the local currency equivalent is  also calcualated based on the rate entered on that day from the rate table.
The differerence due to the exchange rate is stored in our 50140 Gain on Forex Transaction G/L Account.
The problem is the calcualtion from the foreign to local currency when the money has returned to the account is incorrect even though the rate is correct in the rate table.
The exchange rate the day the money came back into the account is 6.34585. However the system appears to have calculated it 63.5485
Therefore, Foreign Currency Amount  US 85,270,000.00 equates to  Local Currency TT 5,411,106,295.00
I am of the belief it is a data issue as logically the system cannot choose which calculation to do correclty and which one not to.
    Thanks

    Hi,
currency conversion always happens based on a exchange rate given for a conversion factor (eg 1 unit 'from' currency is converted to 1 unit 'to' currency).
Check this conversion factors in t-code OBBS for the exchange rate type + rate you have entered.
Maybe conversion factor is maintained like TTD to USD is 1:1 whereas USD to TTD is 1:10.
    Best regards, Christian

  • Hard currency and foreign exchange valuation

    Dear experts,
I have defined INR as my company code currency (10) and USD as hard currency (40)
when i post any transaction it is reflected in both currencies
I post an invoice of Rs 400 when the rate is Rs 40: USD1
Thus in hard currency the USD amount is reflected as 10 USD
Now i pay the amount when rate is Rs 50:1 USD
eg rate has changed in the mean time
then when i pass the payment entry thru f-53 and process open item, exchange rate difference is generated to the extent of USD 2
The system is giving error that this account is not  configured in  exchange rate table eg (key KDB)
Does this mean that when i have a second currency, i necessarly have to define all accounts where such rate differences occur in the KDB or is there a way out
hope you can give detailed answer.
    Regards,
    Rishikesh

    Hi,
This is standard SAP, that system valuates only the docuemnts in foreign currency using the document currency.
When the document is posted in local currency, that is not needed to be revaluated.

  • Incorrect foreign currency balance

    Hi,
I have created an invoice in THB but paid in USD.  When I view the account balances of MC BP, the LC and SC balances is zero but not FC which has the paid amount in USD.  How can I set FC zero balance?  I try to post a JE having FC only, but an ajdustment will propose in the FX difference calculations.
    Regards,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
since the BP is a multicurrency BP the FC is irrelevant, the account balance is held in LC. If you post another transaction in another FC, the sum will show '***' since currencies cannot be combined & summarised in a column.
If you absolutely must adjust the FC, you may do so by following the procedure in SAP Note [909074 |https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/909074]- How to create a manual journal entry with just SC or FC to create an FC only journal entry.
You might find SAP Note Note [1163017 |https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1163017]- How to reconcile a FC only JE for MC BP? helpful as well.

  • Foreign Currency exchange gain & loss

    Dear expert,
I have a problem here, need help.
I have made the setting for foreign exchange gain/loss in OB09 and start to use f-28 for incoming payment.
When run the simulation, it gives me 2 lines of exchange gain/loss calculation. 1st line with amount zero (local currency) and 2nd line with the gain/loss amount.
I wonder why I have 2 lines of exchange gain/loss calculation?
Did I did something wrong or miss some specific setting?
Thanks in advance. will assign points

    Hi Louis,
Please note the example below and you will understand why two line items are created:
Local currency - USD; foreign currency - GBP
Vendor invoice in foreign currency - 100GBP - Jan (Exchange rate: I GBP=2 USD)
Feb - You valuated the open item (Exchange rate: 1 GBP = 3 USD) with update principle
Entry: Unrealised exchange rate Debit 100 USD
To Special balance sheet account Credit 100 USD
Payment made in march where the exchange rate is 1 GBP = 3.5 USD
    Entry will be:
    Vendor debit                               200 USD
Balance sheet account debit        100 USD
Realised exchange rate loss debit  50 USD
    To bank                                       350 USD
Are you getting the above entry? If so, then the above scenario will explain your predicament.
    Cheers!

  • Foreign currency report

    hi friends
our client is indian . have more than 20 compnay codes under one client each company code maintain the inr .he want foreign currency reports . how to conver form inr to foreign currency reports(usd, euro)
pls explain with settings very urgent
    regards
    shiva

    Hello
When you post a document in foreign currency, the system stores the amount in both local currency and foreign currency in each line item. The system checks whether the currency key has been defined and is therefore permitted.
Foreign currencies are needed, for example,
To post and save receivables and payables in foreign currency
For handling payment transactions in foreign currency
Managing accounts in foreign currency (foreign currency balance sheet accounts)
Carrying out the consolidation and reporting for groups.
In the line items, all amounts are saved in both currencies. These include the posting amount, tax amount, and cash discount amount.
    Prerequisites
You have made the following specifications in the Implementation Guide under Global Settings:
    Currency key for each currency
Number of decimal places (if you do not require the usual two decimal places)
    Local currency per company code
Exchange rate between local and foreign currency
In the master records for the G/L accounts, you have to define the currencies you can use to post to that account.
If exchange rate differences arise during clearing or valuating of items or accounts in foreign currency, the system generates postings. To enable the system to do this, you must have defined G/L accounts and posting keys.
    Activities
To specify the foreign currency for your document, enter the appropriate currency key in the Currency field in the document header. There are several ways to enter an exchange rate:
    · Enter a posting date and the currency key in the document header. The system automatically transfers the exchange rate valid on the posting date. Exchange rates are defined in the system.
    · You can also enter the exchange rate directly in the document header via the currency key and exchange rate fields.
    · Enter a translation date in the document header. The system then automatically takes the exchange rate valid on this translation date.
The valid exchange rate is the one entered on the posting date or on the translation date, or the rate entered at an earlier time. For example, if you post a document on August 25, but the last exchange rate in the system setting is from August 22, the system uses the exchange rate from the entry on August 22.
You can enter the amount in each line item in both local and foreign currency.
You can enter documents in any foreign currency for which a currency key is defined in the system. If you manage a G/L account, for example a bank account, in a foreign currency, you can only post documents to this G/L account in the account currency, that is, the foreign currency.

  • Posting foreign currency document in fb01

HI i want to post foreign currency document in Fb01. i am facing following error as shown in screen shot
I have maintained exchange rate type M in OBA1 and even then its prompting for EURX .
    Regards
    kaushal ghedia

    Hi Kaushal,
Are you posting in Local i.e Co Cd currency or foreign currency.
When ever we make posting in foreign currency, system automatically convert it into local currency because of this system is asking for exchange rate for this.
So please check below settings .
Go to transaction OBBS and check the ratio between the USD and EUR, than
Go to Transaction code OB08 and maintain the exchange rate for Type M, between USD and EUR.
Check the Controlling area currency too in OKEQ.
    Check client currency in SCC4.
If above setting is fine then you need to take help of ABAPr to debug.

  • CONVERT TO FOREIGN CURRENCY

    Hi all,
I am using CONVERT_TO_FOREIGN_CURRENCY function module for converting
    local currency to foreign currency.
I am converting from HUF to USD ,in this case it is giving the error like USD/HUF exchange rates are not maintaining.
But in my system exchange rates are maintaining in TCURR table.
Here i have one query,in  the table TCURR fcurr and tcurr fields are there
in this fcurr(from currency) means HUF and tcurr(to currency) means USD (in my case right) in that case they are maintaining,
but fcurr is USD and tcurr is HUF  in that case they are not maintaing,

  • FB60 entry in foreign currency

    Hi All,
I want to post FB60 (vendor invoice) in foreign currency. The foreign exchange rate needs to be given manually. It is because transaction is carried out at the rate which is different from the rate mentioned in OB08 table.
I have filled the amount in local currency manually in local currency tab.
But i gave me following error:
"Balance in local currency INR is too large for automatic adjustment"
In OB08, foreign exchange rate mentioned is Rs.50 & Manually i want to put rate as Rs.50.5. So its 1% difference. Let me know how to resovle this error.

Please check the value that you have maintained in the following path in SPRO:
Fin Acct (NEW) - Fin Acct Glb Stgs - Glb parameters for CC - Currencies - Max Exch Rate Diff - Define Maximum Exchange Rate Difference per Company Code
In this activity, you define, per company code, a maximum difference between exchange rates for postings in foreign currency. To do this, you specify how much the exchange rate entered manually in the document header may differ in terms of percent from the one stored in the system.
If an exchange rate or the local and the foreign currency amount were entered manually during document entry, then a comparison is made with the exchange rates stored in the system. If a deviation does occur and it exceeds the percentage rate specified here, then a warning appears.
    Hope this helps you.

    Prasad

  • Foreign Currency valuation on Foreign currency items posted in Local currency accounts

    Hi Gurus,
I have accounts maintained in local currency and only balances in local currency is not checked. Some items are posted in foreign currency.
Now system is doing foreign currency valuation on foreign currency balance of this account. I dont want system to do that.
Now how to correct it. I can make balance zero of account and then mark that tick of only balances in local currency but still system will do foreign currency valuation on items posted.
Appreciate you help in solving this issue. How to handle it?
    Thanks

    Hi ,
While executing Foreign currency valuation, you can select the GL accounts for valuation. Try to not input these local currency GL's.

  • Incorrect Account Determination on Foreign Currency Valuation

    Dear SAP Expert,
Kindly your help about my issue:
My company code using parrarel curreny,
    1. Company Code Currency (10) -- USD
    2. Hard Currency (40) -- IDR
I already complete all customizing for Revaluation such as; OBA1 for gain loss realized and Valuation Gain loss and B/S adjustment.
My Question is, why system keeping give me an error incorrect account determination even i already maintained it.
and i check it closely to the error, and system say i must maintain translation gain and loss (LSTRA and LSTRV field in OBA1), i juts dont get the point why i need maintain that... because I only revaluation on Company code currency not in Hard Currency (2nd Local Currency)
the thing getting more tricky when i try it in quality system with the same setting and transaction the quality system not show the error message like in the production.
the exist  transaction have USD, IDR, EUR, GBP currency.
    Please your advise
    Thanks and regards
    Rian

Dear All, thanks for all your replies...
First of all, yes this is open item account. and i already maintain in OBA1 for open item account
    I already maintained:
    Realized Gain and Loss:
    - Gain and Loss (already defined)
    Evaluation
    - Evaluation Gain and loss and Balance Sheet (already defined)
    Translation
-N/A (not defined because we just only revaluation on company code currency not hard currency/group currency)
but i don't maintain translation gain and loss in OBA1 because we just only revaluation on company code currency...
the system show me error to maintain translation account gain and loss and balance sheet in PRD
but in the QA not show me anything and the system worked well, (with the same scenario and transaction in Production, of course i already checked the OBA1 between QA and Production)
    The Question are:
    1. Why I need maintain Translation Gain and loss even i just revaluation on company code currency?
    2. I still wonder why i should maintain translation gain and loss in PRD but not need in QA even in the same transaction and setting
Acctually, if the error message tell to maintain Translation Gain and loss field... yes i will do it in PRD but i need the reason...
    Thank and regards

  • Foreign currency valuation for GR/IR clearing account is repeatedly posting

While executing foreign currency valuation (program SAPF100) through T code F.05 the following fields are selected for the spotted rate valuation for currency type 10.
    A)     Valuate G/L account open items
    B)     Evaluate  GR/IR account (GR/IR clearing account is selected)
    C)     Valuate customer open items
After execution the valuation postings are repeated  in GR/IR FC valuation Balance sheet adj account while the postings in other accounts occur only once.
GR/IR FC valuation Balance sheet adjustment account is configured in OB09 for GR/IR account for respective currency type and local currency.
What could be the reason for repeated postings in FC valuation account?

I think there is some issue with the process, normally vendor/customer reconciliation account or some liability assets related account which has impact due to foreign currency rate changes needs to be revaluated. I don't understand why you have set up foreign currency valuation for GR/IR account, these are intermediatory account which reflects in system between for example GR and IR.
I also think that you need more information on foreign currency valuation, basically it happens on a particular key date and gets reversed on key date + 1, because revaluation is only required on a key date for reporting purposes. on the next day it get reversed and actual loss or profit on foreign currency only gets booked on realization.
    Hope this helps!!!
