ONS 15454 software release 3.3

Does anyone know if there is any significant reason to upgrade to the newest release 3.3? I have a 3.1 system about to be installed, so I have the oportunity to perform the upgrade on a new system without service interuption. I can't seem to find the new features or bug fix list on the new software updates on CCO.

I've been using 3.3 in the lab. The only issue I've had so far was with provisioning a 4-Fiber BLSR. Other than that, it's been working fine. You need to upgrade from 3.1 if you want to support some of the new cards (Ethernet G-Series, OC-48 Any Slot, XC10G, etc.)

We recently upgraded our Sonet nodes from 6.0 to 9.213 and I'm wondering what new features and funtions this upgrade will provide to us?

Upgrade ONS 15454 M12 TCC2P from 9.4.03 to 10.0.11

Hello,
quick question.
I have in my lab one M12 subrack with only-one TCC2P card and I try to prepare software upgrade in customer network.

My troubles started at point where I can select node where the software must be downloaded. The window is empty.
Target version is "ons15454.DWDM.Lite.K9.R10011.pkg".

It seems like you should be able to directly upgrade from 9.1.x to 9.2.2.

ONS 15454 error message

Hi Expert,
I have a problem with ONS 15454 error message. My CTM server detected MINOR error message "Peer to Peer Slot Communication Failure". Affected object is SLOT-1 which is OPT_BST. The alarm ID is 200551. What caused this error appear and any workaround to solve this problem?. Your kind attention is much appreciated.

Although the following alarm is not identical to the one you identified, this seems to indicate the a peer "communication failure" is hardware related.
2.5.237 PEER-NORESPONSE
Default Severity: Major (MJ), Non-Service-Affecting (NSA)
Logical Object: EQPT
The switch agent raises a Peer Card Not Responding alarm if either traffic card in a protection group does not receive a response to the peer status request message. PEER-NORESPONSE is a software failure and occurs at the task level, as opposed to a communication failure, which is a hardware failure between peer cards.

Might it happen. Sure. Probability <25% in my opinion.
Would it mean the end of the ONS line? I doubt it. Probability <25% - given the above hypothetical comes to pass - IMO.
Has Cisco ever spun off a major product line/business? Not in my memory.

ONS 15454 STS Limits

I know the ons 15454 has a limit of 24 STS connections, but is there any easy way to determine if you have reached that limit. We are trying to use another ds3 port on an existing card and are getting errors that we are unable to provision any more circuits. I just want to determine if we are at our threshold for STS connections and how to determine which cards are using how many STS connections.

At the node view, Click Maintenance > Cross-Connect (or similar) then the Resource Usage tab. This will show the XC resource usage.
As for the 15454 cross connect limits. That is driven by the cross connect card as follows:
XC-VT - 144 STS bidirectional cross-connects
XC-10G - 576 STS bidirectional cross-connects
XC-VXC - 576 STS bidirectional cross-connects
What software version?
What DS3 card(s)?
What OCn card(s)?
What does your circuit mapping look like?

ONS 15454 login help.

I have a ONS 15454-SA-HD that I am trying to get into. I have no documentation other than what I have found online, and no software with it. From what I am finding online is that if you do not have the software that came with the system the only other way to get into this unit is through a web browser. I tried hooking up to the serial interface of the unit but all that I get is the > prompt and nothing I type in seems to show up and I get no output.
From what I have found I would need to be using at the most Java version jdk 1.2.2.017
I have downloaded and installed this version of Java and it is the only version that I have installed on the system that I have running Windows XP.
When I try to connect to the ONS I get a message telling me to check the security settings. From what I can tell everything looks fine.
I have the latest version of IE for windows XP installed. Is this version of XP to new to be able to connect to the ONS?
I have also tried downloading and installing the one of the recommended browsers and version (Mozilla version 1.7.13) and then reinstalled the 1.2.2.017 version of Java, but it would seem that Mozilla does not see that I have Java installed when I try to connect up to the ONS through Mozilla.
Any help on getting into this unit would be very helpful.

It should accept the input -- relative to single-mode fibers, multimode fibers have bigger cores, and transfer light somewhat differently, so the result is that the single mode receiver will only detect a percentage of the light that a multimode cable sends it. This percentage is likely to be pretty low, especially as distance increases. I'd say odds are it will work at a distance as short as 30 meters, but you can't know for sure without trying and you'll want to keep an eye on bit error rates to make sure the receiver is getting a strong enough signal.

ONS system software upgrade

I m looking for ONS software download from the software center. I m looking for 4.0 and 3.3 images. and I also see two images each 25 megs in size, one with a SDH in the image name, and one without an SDH. I want to know which one to download, and also what is the difference between the two.

I assume you're talking about the ONS 15454, based on the information included in your post.
The software image with SDH in the image name is intended for use on networks adhering to the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy standard. The other software image is for use on SONET, or Synchronous Optical Network, standard networks.
While the two standards are closely related, the biggest difference between them is that SONET is used in North America, and SDH is used in Europe and Asia. (Frame size is different, too: you can fit 3 SONET frames in the same space as one SDH frame.) So if you're doing DS-1 and DS-3 hand-offs from the 15454, go with SONET; if you're doing E1s and E4s, go with SDH.
If you're connected to a carrier's network here in the US, you're probably using SONET.

10 OS Software release 10.2.1.537

I have been downloading and installing the 10 OS Software release 10.2.1.537 for wo hours now, does this seem normal? I don't have a 'great' internet connection, but its good enough. I need to know how long this should take? I should be notified ahead of time how long it might take? I have a message that says not to disconnect from a power supply during the process? Does that mean battery power or must it be plugged in? Thanks Help?

The file I downloaded was just under 500mg.
In my experience this was the fastest part of the process, the update takes up to an hour and then a further hour to reboot and for the hub and other services to get up to speed.

Can someone please clarify to me what the latest BB software release is for my Curve ?
I had RL 5 beginning os the year, which was in French (Do not remember if it was the default, or If I installed it myself and from where).
few days ago, I broke the screen and got a replacement BB, also RL5, but in English.
I wanted French, so I have installed "Blackberry 6 OS = multilanguage" ... but the only available languages I have are English US, English UK, portugal, ...), but not french (?!?!?)
So is the "Blackberry 6 OS" successor of "Blackberry Device software 5.0" ?

In Link, the Software Release and OS Version for my PlayBook are 2.1.0.1917. For the Z10, however, the Software Release is 10.2.1.2977, and the OS Version is 10.2.1.3247. So, what's the difference between Software Release and OS Version?

The software release is everything including the OS, apps radio file etc. It's a package of programs basically and includes the OS; so the versions don't match as they are slightly different things.
When we say what version are you running - we usually want to know the OS version as that's what you get when you type in "myver" on the BlackBerry keyboard.
