ONS not starting
Hi,
I have Oracle 10.2.0.1 two node RAC running on RHEL 4. Few days back I noticed that the ONS is not showing offline for both the nodes in the target.I tried starting it manuaaly through srvctl,crs_start and onsctl commands but all of them failed to start it.Rest of the services are working fine except the Enterprise Manager which ihangs as soon as I try to login.
the Logs in $ORA_CRS_HOME/opmn/logs/ons.log shows

Hi Guys
In a RAC with 3 nodes version 10.2.0.3 running on Red Hat 4 64 bits, using ASM I got the following problem
This database has been running fine for almost 2 years ,however today I got a phone call in the morning from application support because 1 CPU was taking 100%
my first thought was a crazy query running on that node , but what was my surprise that the process was the ONS,
my first reaction was running srvctl status nodeapps -n node
and it was down therefore I checked its logs which is below

When I tried to bring it down the CRS didnt allow me I got errors , I had to kill the process , if I run onsctl start I dont have problems but if I use srvctl start nodeapps -n (node1) seems the reason Oracle tries to kill the process but it can therefore starting to loop against the CPU making hitting 100%
I confirmed that if I use onsctl start/stop/debug/ping I dont have problems
I havent applied any patch or any modification on this RAC for almost 2 months
Any idea why suddenly stop to work or why I got those errors, I already submit this case to Oracle Support but they havent given me an answer

Ons daemon from onsctl is not starting
I have a problem with ons daemon on oracle RAC 10.2.0.3 on linux Rad Hat 9.2
the describe situation is:
in the crs_stat -t all the statuses are online
but using onsctl utility the ons services are not running on the two nodes
if i tried to start the ons services using onsctl utility , the crs...ons services became offline.
What is it the problem?
I think it is a issue with ons service of oracle version(10.2.0.3).
Have anyone met this issue?
Thanks,
MihaelaHi Murali,
Actually i am trying to setup FastConnectionFailover capability on my Oracle Application Server. And as per the document/guidelines i am following i had to verify that ons is running by using onsctl ping command.
The problem is that if i run the above command on any of my RAC machines i get "ons not running" message in the output as below. Please note that i have 2 db machines setup on the RAC environment which are being correctly displayed in the output
Number of onsconfiguration retrieved, numcfg = 2
onscfg[0]
+{node = db1, port = 6200}+
Adding remote host db1:6200
onscfg[1]
+{node = db2, port = 6200}+
Adding remote host db2:6200
ons is not running ...+
LET ME also add that doing "srvctl status nodeapps -n <node name>" on each of the RAC nodes does display that ONS daemon is running...fyi the info displayed is as below
VIP is running on node: db2
GSD is running on node: db2
Listener is running on node: db2
ONS daemon is running on node: db2
Why is this inconsistency where in one it does display that ons daemon is running whereas onsctl display "ons not running", any idea ? anything i need to look into or verify?
Thanks and REgards,

11.1.2 opmn_EPM_epmsystem1 service will not start after server move
Moved our 11.1.2 Windows 2008 SP2 (not R2) 64 bit machines from one domain to the other (test to prod) and reconfigured the repositories to the prod SQL server (2005). Configuration is all green yet the EPM_epmsystem1 will not go to started. It sticks at Starting and after some type of time out stops.
We run as administrator thinking that would be the problem but to no avail. We tried the delivered script but to no avail either.
In the E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\OPMN\opmn directory the opmn.log shows only this:

JTSHi John,
I still get the same error message when i start the opmn from the command prompt.

Its a VM Image and i havent sent any ipaddress in the host file too.
however i am unable to start the OPMN (epmsystem1) service too from services.msc and it throw below error

Same thing happens when i click restart.
No difference when i run it in Safe mode. And it won't let me create a new profile either. Is there anyway else i can extract my bookmarks? This is driving me crazy!Did the crash reporter send any crash reports?<br />
You can see the crash reports in this folder:
"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports"
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad
See also [[Firefox crashes when you open it]]
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br /><br />
See [[Basic Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]<br /><br />
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"<br /><br />
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br /><br />
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox<br /><br />
If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Firefox will not start, after reboot.
For a few months now Firefox will not start after I reboot my computer. In order to get it to start I click the exe then must go into task manager kill it, click the exe again, kill it again then, from there it will typically start, but sometimes it may take one or two more trys. When clicking the exe firefox will appear in the task manager under processes but will will start with ~7% CPU usage, then quickly drop to zero every time until it does actually open and start. I have ran a full system recovery and started anew after reinstalling mozilla several times failed to fix the problem. I run virus and spyware checks often and come up clean, and also run Chrome as a default browser.
== This happened ==
A few times a week
== Around the time 3.5 was releasedHello Tom.
You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.
If you want support for one of your add-ons, you'll need to contact its author. -
Firefox 3.6.8 will not start. I have to go to safe start, click reset to default, ok, then the shutdown box appears, I click cancel and it will open. I have rest profile, uninstalled and reinstalled, clicked alll he boxes on safe start, tried an older version need help. in English
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== either after I last updated to 3.6.6 or .7 or reset my inernet exploerer values to defaultI had same problem where Firefox 3.6.8 would not start or open. Spent many hours trying different things to fix it. Uninstall of previous version and reinstall did not make any difference. Finally, after uninstalling Firefox, I searched for Firefox folders and files on my computer, deleted and removed all Firefox folders and files - deleted anything and everything related to Firefox so that it will be as if I was going to download Firefox for the first time ever. Then, using another browser, I downloaded Firefox 3.6.8 and installed it. It could be that some Add-Ons or something else from the older version of Firefox or profile was interfering with the new one. It was easier to delete remove everything and install all over again clean than to figure out which part was causing the problem.
Keep in mind, when you delete all Firefox folders and files from your computer, you are deleting all your bookmarks and all your Add-ons. If you want to keep those bookmarks, you might want to save the URLs someplace safe to bookmark them again before deleting them. You need to re-install the Add-ons also. Upon installation, it asks if you want to import bookmarks and settings from another browser or settings you might have. I imported them from my other browser. Now, Firefox works. I also installed up-to-date Add-ons.
I hope this helps. Always keep more than one browser functioning on your computer, just in case one fails. -
after restoring backup on new macbook with time machine Firefox will n to start. It says it is missing profile although profile exists and profile manager will not start. Also reinstalling does not help. Direct after starting Firefox it says profile is missing and then quits Firefox. Please help edit
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox -
I tried to revert to 3.6.16 after uninstalling 4.0 (because it deactivated too many of my add-ons). Now Firefox will not start at all. I followed the instructions that applied to me in "Firefox will not start" but it had no effect. I tried system restore but that also did not fix it. I'm having to use IE8. I do not have any Norton products. Please help.
I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item. -
Firefox version 3.5.16 will not start under Windows Vista and Windows 7 32bit
I have a Windows Vista computer that will not start any newer version of Firefox than 3.5.16. The process will run (as seen in the Task Manager) but do nothing.
I have since updated Windows to version 7 and the problem persists.
I have tried uninstalling Firefox and all Addons (flash-player, pdf-reader) and deleting all files (even user-specific ones).
Firefox can't be started in Profilemanger or safe-mode either.
Is there anything short of reinstalling windows I can try?Solved it!
It was a dodgy version of Firebug (1.6.2) running, which would kill the disable/update process. It was killing something on the first run that would corrupt my Firefox.
How I fixed it:
* Download the latest Firefox
* Install Firefox 4 (as Standard) in-place upgrade
* Before finishing, un-tick the "Run Firefox Now" button
* Hit Finish
* Find Firefox in the Start Menu and hold Shift and click the executable (safe mode)
* Leave everything disabled
* You should now have a working Firefox!
Remove/update your add-ons as needed. I only had to upgrade Firebug in safe mode to get it working.
Odd how the check for updates completely broke this Firefox, wonder what was so bad about Firebug.
Hope this helps at least one other person! The "Run in Safe Mode" option is so hard to discover now when your browser is broken! -
Firefox will not start in WinXP. (I am sending this from an alternate browser.)
I believe that this is due to some incompatibility with the latest update of Java. I believe that one of the tabs from my previous session included a Java application, and this is causing the difficulty. In recent days, since the last update of Java, I have had difficulty in loading linked pages with Java applications into Firefox, and have needed to switch to a different browser to do this.
Now I cannot even start the browser, presumably due to the presence of a Java application on one of the restored tabs.
When I now try to start Firefox, my ZoneAlarm security s/w presents the message "Java(TM) Quick Starter binary is trying to access the Internet." I click "Allow", but Firefox will not start. If I click "Deny", the same result. The same thing happens when I try to start Firefox in Safe Mode, I cannot even start Firefox in Safe mode.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== after recent update of JavaYou can try to disable the Java Quick starter and the Java Console extension in the Control Panel > Java.
Control Panel > Java > Advanced tab > Miscellaneous >Java Quick Starter (disable)
You can also disable the Java plugin in Firefox: Tools > Add-ons > Plugins

Vip not started in newly added node in 10gR2
Hi
I'm facing a issue while adding third node in 10gR2 env.
after pre-requisite check has been success, I run $CRS_HOME/oui/bin/addNode.sh script.
after GUI based installation , I run all the three script , which has been completed successfully,
Then I run vipca as root user to configure vip , but it thrown error ,CRS-1006, CRS 1028, crs-0215, crs-0223
I check status of OCR voting and their permission and status on node 3 , all looks good.
CRS-1006: No more member to consider CRS-0215: could not start resource 'ora.rac3.vip'
CRS-1028: dependency analysis failed because of CRS-0223 resource 'ora.rac1.gsd' has placement error.
CRS-1028: dependency analysis failed because of CRS-0223 resource 'ora.rac2.gsd' has placement error.
CRS-1028: dependency analysis failed because of CRS-0223 resource 'ora.rac1.ons' has placement error.
CRS-1028: dependency analysis failed because of CRS-0223 resource 'ora.rac2.ons' has placement error.
Can u please suggest.....

I see that issue is with OPMN ( Oracle Process manager service )
Kindly help me.
Regards to all.Dear friends,
Thanks for trying to solve my issue.
Sorry dcm.conf file is not deleted. Instead of looking into E:\oracle\FRHome_1\dcm\config path, i was looking dcm.conf file in E:\oracle\FRHome_1\dcm folder.
However, to remind you my problem was restarting the service Click > Services.msc > OracleFRHome1ProcessManager and i am glad to tell problem is solved by copy and paste/overwrite E:\oracle\FRHome_1\opmn\bin files from hostname1 to hostname6 E:\oracle\FRHome_1\opmn\bin( on which process manager was not starting )
Issue is finally resolved.
Thanks for your help . -
