Onscreen keyboard won't appear how to I force it to?

On certain websites -- especially ones heavy on flash - even though it's an area for text input, I can't get the keyboard to appear. Is there any way to force the keyboard to show?
Carol

I Have Xfinity email and when I access it using the Safari browser, it defaults to a mobile version with no traces of Flash anywhere in the email area of the site. I'm not sure what you are seeing or why you are seeing that particular version of the email website.
Another option ..... XFinity has a pretty decent email app that works quite well and has more features that the built in mail app has. You will not be able to download it in France, I'm sure, but when you get back to the U.S., consider using it.

  • Ever since I used an apple wireless keyboard, the onscreen keyboard will not appear

I have been using the iPad for several years. Recently I added the apple wireless keyboard. Ever since, when I do not have the apple wireless keyboard the onscreen keyboard refuses to appear. Makes entering text difficult! Wuld be happy to learn of a solution. Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Did you turn off Bluetooth after turning off the Apple Wireless Keyboard? Open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off.
Another thing you can do is, before turning off the keyboard, select a text box on the iPad (for example, when you type an email or you type on a Safari webpage) and press Eject key on the keyboard, so the virtual keyboard will show

    Try a reset:

  • Yoga 2-11 Onscreen Keyboard won't stay up when in tablet mode

I have seen many topics about the onscreen keyboard not staying on when in tablet mode but most of it from 2013. I am having this problem and I cannot find a solution. I have to go to laptop mode to sign in and then go back to tablet mode. The keyboard pops up but as soon as it does it goes away.  What is the fix? Yoga 2-11 purchased Dec 2014 from Best Buy.

Thank you for your swift suggestion! I think it has worked I will monitor it for a couple of days

  • Have a flashing folder with a question mark on start-up but cannot hold option as wireless keyboard won't connect, how do I get it to connect if I cannot turn on the machine?

Hello all, I've registered here because I can't work out how to get my keyboard and mouse to connect.
The issue is that when I turn my mid-2010 iMac on it doesn't load up, but instead shows a flashing folder with a question mark. I've Googled this and have some idea how to fix it, the first step in all guides to fixing the problem states that you should hold the option key upon start-up. The problem I'm having is that I've just had to change the batteries on my keyboard and mouse and they are now not connecting. I can't see how to get the keyboard and mouse connected with the Mac stuck on the flashing folder screen, and I can't get the Mac past said screen without using the keyboard. Does anyone know how I can connect the two devices?
    Thanks.

The flashing folder with the ? mark indicates that a bootable system can't be found. You'll need to borrow a wired keyboard so you can boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down). From there you can reinstall the system and try a normal reboot.

  • Ipad keyboard won't appear.

Just started being a problem the other day.  Have to reboot to get it to appear.  Happens if I try to post to Facebook, or use Google search, or type an address in SAfari.
Once rebooted, works fine for a long while.

Yes, I borrowed my wife's wireless keyboard for a trip.  It is in the same room but not turned on.  And I can't remember if this started before or after pairing the keyboard.  Even if after, if the wireless keyboard isn't on, the iPad should be able to figure it out and bring up the virtual one.

  • How do I stop the onscreen keyboard from popping up when I click on a text box?

I have a yoga 2 pro and the onscreen keyboard is irritating. How do I stop it from popping up every time I touch the screen? I am only touching the screen to get to the spot where I want to type--- I don't want the onscreen keyboard.
Sometimes it obscures the screen so I can't get to the right spot. Usually it disappears when I start typing, but sometimes I'm not even trying to type-- I'm trying to select something and I can't see it any more because the keyboard has popped up. I close the keyboard to get it out of the way, but it pops up when I try to touch the screen again. So I can never get to the spot I want unless I absolutely hit the exact spot on the first try. It happened even while typing this. I wanted to touch a certain spot in the paragraph, but then the onscreen keyboard popped up and I couldn't see the paragraph any more.
    Thanks,

Did you turn off any of the Lenovo software?
I closed a random McAfee process via the task manager in an attempt to stop the notification from popping up every ten minutes telling me to restart.
I also deleted a lot of the tiles from the colorful windows screen. I think some of them were Lenovo apps. They all seemed to be for some specific purpose though, that I knew I would not use. I have forgotten what they were. I did not delete many-- only a few that I knew right off that I would never use. Could that have affected something?

keyboard won't come up when screen pressed where i want to type?

    Hi, Couselor.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Start with closing any open applications in multitasking and restarting the device.  If unfamiliar with multitasking, I have included a screenshot on how to process an application close.  Test the results after processing these steps.

  • Onscreen keyboard - word completion

maybe i am missing something, but I can't figure out how to use word completion using the onscreen keyboard. the word appears but I don't know how to select it...... maybe I am dumb? i have tried everything. searched the manual and the discussion threads with no luck.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Can't expplain the difference because I have always only used it with both on and it works well for me. I start typing a word and as soon as I see the correct completed word appearing, I tap on it to complete. You should also consider using Swype on the N9. It is very good.

  • IPad + Wireless Keyboard + Onscreen Keyboard?

Is there a way to tell the iPad to bring up the onscreen keyboard? The wireless keyboard connects and the onscreen keyboard disappears. I found that I can press the CD Eject button on the wireless keyboard to bring up the onscreen keyboard. What if the wireless keyboard isn't handy? Isn't there some way to bring up the onscreen keyboard from the iPad itself?

In case it helps anyone else, I found this in the manual:
    Onscreen Keyboard Doesn’t Appear
If iPad is paired with a Bluetooth keyboard, or if it’s connected to the iPad Keyboard Dock, the onscreen keyboard does not appear. To cause the keyboard to appear, press the Keyboard key on the Keyboard Dock, or press the Eject key on a Bluetooth keyboard. Disconnecting the iPad Keyboard Dock, or moving the Bluetooth keyboard out of range or turning it off, will also allow the onscreen keyboard to appear.
My guess is that the bluetooth signal is reaching much further than you would expect, which explains why the onscreen keyboard won't display when the wireless keyboard and iPad are in different rooms or even separated by as much as 30 feet.
Update: This was confirmed... I ran a small test with one person at the iPad and another person walking around typing numbers on the wireless keyboard. Starting with 1,Return,2,Return,3,Return, etc. The keyboard and the iPad were literally 4 rooms (50+ feet) apart and still working together. It was pretty amazing.

  • My screen keyboard won't come up to allow me to add new contacts to my phone book. What am I doing wrong?

I have had my iPhone 5C for a month now and when I first had it I was able to add phone contacts.  Now when I try, the cursor flashes ready for the information but the onscreen keyboard won't come up to enable me to type any information. I have checked all the settings I can think of in case I have switched something off by mistake but have been unable to get any further.  I only have 109 numbers in my phone so it should be able to take more, or is there a restriction?

Found the answer to this by reading other peoples comments about their phones.  Reset as per the instructions found and keyboard appeared.  Not sure why Apple can't give out this information themselves as I asked them and they didn't have an explanation.

Are you tapping on the field you want to enter data into? That opens the soft keyboard. If you touch the field and hold it, the paste option will appear.

  • How do I eject a DVD that won't appear on my desktop?

I tried to read a DVD furnished to me but when I loaded it into the computer it won't appear on the desktop. How do I get it to eject?

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • Onscreen Keyboard appears when shadowing session on 2012R2 Remote Desktop Session Host

As the title suggests, whenever I shadow a session on our 2012R2 RDSH server, the onscreen keyboard appears.  The taskbar also unlocks.
Both of these behaviours mean that the user can tell when their session is being shadowed, which I don't always want to be the case - sometimes I want to be able to monitor the session without their knowledge.
Anyone know how I can stop this from happening?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Yeah, we can use the following command where we can take user shadow session without giving him any notification, and no need to approve by the user.
    mstsc.exe /shadow:ID /v:ServerName /control /noConsentPrompt
But for this, we need to set the following group policy:
    [Computer Configuration | User Configuration]
    \Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Connections
Set rules for remote control of Remote Desktop Services user sessions:  Enable
Select the option: Full Control without User’s permission
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.
