Onsctl has started failing

Just when it was all going well.
I am now getting the error
"main: NLS initialization failed!!"
when I enter onsctl start.
I never used to get this and I am not sure what I changed on the box to cause this. Only possible thing is that I enabled cyrillic character input on Virtual PC.
There is an NLS_LANG setting in the onsctl script which I have tried tweaking to no avail.
The query select * from v$nls_parameters gives:
PARAMETER VALUE
NLS_CALENDAR GREGORIAN
NLS_CHARACTERSET AL32UTF8
NLS_COMP BINARY
NLS_CURRENCY $
NLS_DATE_FORMAT DD-MON-RR
NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
NLS_DUAL_CURRENCY $
NLS_ISO_CURRENCY AMERICA
NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS BYTE
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
NLS_NCHAR_CONV_EXCP FALSE
NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS .,
NLS_SORT BINARY
NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM
NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
NLS_TIME_FORMAT HH.MI.SSXFF AM
NLS_TIME_TZ_FORMAT HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
Any help is appreciated.

I have progressed this further. By putting trace statements into the onsctl script I find that the error message comes from the ping of ons and in fact ons does start.
I am not sure what the consequence of this message is, but everything seems to work fine.

  • Saving sent message has started failing frequently, Retry works.

Over the past month or so the box showing message being saved to Sent Mail stays open for a very long time. Frequently it fails and offers for me to retry. The retry usually works promptly.

Opps! Just crashed, same behavior as originally posted. It timed out after 60 seconds. As soon as the crash report popped up I was offered "Retry". It then went immediately and showed up in the Sent Mail folder.
Matt, saving sent mail has not crashed. It takes 15-20 seconds to save to the Sent Mail folder but not long enough to time out as it was doing before.
I deselected the setting in Properties, "Select this folder for offline use". I never have occasion to use Thunderbird offline. If there is an reason why I should NOT deselect this box, please let me know. I'm hoping this will speed up the process.

  • My compressor 3 has started failing??

it compresses for almost an hour but just before its due to finish (finishing audio) it fails.....i havent changed the way ive been compressing or have i changed video file formats?? any clues?

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • "TrackedMessages_Copy_BizTalkMsgBoxDb" started failing (could not produce a query plan)

    I'm running Biztalk 2010 / SQL 2008R2
Suddenly the job "TrackedMessages_Copy_BizTalkMsgBoxDb" that runs every minute has started failing. The message is:
"Query processor could not produce a query plan because of the hints defined in this query. Resubmit the query without specifying any hints and without using SET FORCEPLAN.

    Hi,
No one has changed any Biztalk SP, I'm sure. I Think this is a data problem. We have a copy of our complete environment taken every 14 Days, used as a test and verification environment. It is now a little more than a week old, and there the job works
    just fine.
One data difference between the production and the verification environment is that the table "BizTalkdMsgBoxDb.dbo.TrackingMessageReferences"
is empty in verification, but holds a record in production, could that have to do with it?
I had  50 "Orphaned DTA Instances" which I removed through the Biztalk Terminator. It made no difference to the problem, still the same error.

What user troubleshooting have you done on the phone? The steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Understand that a restore will put the latest iOS on your device. It is also possible there is a hardware fault on the device and the Bluetooth is failing. Anything is possible given the scenario you describe.
And as far as iOS 7.x is concerned, we have 5 different iPhones here at home, all with the latest iOS, a 4, 4s, 5c, and 2-5s and all are working just fine. So, a blanket statement such as the one provided by the other poster is not completely true. Others are not having any issues at all either.

My Macbook Pro will not boot up. I can hear the sound that it has started and then it goes into an infinite loop.

What model MBP and which version of OS X? Sounds as if the hard drive may have failed. If you have an installation disc, try booting with it. If your machine came with Lion or Mountain Lion, try booting to the Recovery partition - Command and R keys held down while booting.

  • DVD Player has started playing PAL DVD's on external PAL display very badly

I have my Early 2006 iMac connected to an external HDTV (Mini-DVI->HDMI)
Using display options I can switch the external display easily between NTSC and PAL refresh rates.
It used to be that apple's DVD player could play a PAL dvd just fine on the display but now the frame rate drifts in and out of sync as though it no longer understands that the TV is set to 50hz.
Although I used to use DVD player all the time I haven't done so for quite some months so I don't know when this started happening although I have a feeling that it was with a recent OS X update.
I say this because a few months ago all of a sudden the same thing happened with Elgato's EyeTV, but they issued a patch sometime later and it fixed the v-sync issue for their app.
I'm also wondering if it may be a de-interlacing issue rather than a v-sync issue but I'm not sure, I've tried various DVD's.
I have tried deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer but this hasn't helped.
If it's relevant, my iMac has an ATI Radeon X1600
Any ideas why DVD player has started having trouble with 50hz displays and how I might fix it?
Failing that, is there a good (hopefully free) dvd player alternative which is better at handing external displays of varying display modes?
p.s this was the most appropriate forum I could find.

I suggest that you create 15-second silent audio slug that you can use to move the audio the same amount you have moved the video.

  • UDI OSD Task Sequences started failing with 0x80070002 error in SCCM 2012

This is kind of long, but here goes...
We built a UDI task sequence in SCCM 2012 (with MDT integration) that we were testing for deployment of a couple of different Win7 images.  We customized the UDI experience thru the UDI wizard and XML file and OS deployment worked as expected
thru the task sequence (testing on Hyper-V VMs). Recently, this UDI TS started failing with error 0x80070002  during what appears to be the "Use Toolkit Package" step.  This is after the OS image has already been laid down and after the ConfigMgr
client has been installed/configured.  The SMSTS.log reports "Failed to open the task sequence key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Task Sequence.  Error code 0x8007002"  Among other errors...I will post the entire log below...
After the error during deployment, Win7 will boot normally, however, you have no network connectivity and it appears the proper network driver didn't get loaded in the OS. Combine this with the fact that the TS should have joined the machine to our domain,
but you can't login because no network.. Im not sure if the network issue is a product of the TS failing early or the actual cause of the TS failure.
Anyway, I attempted to build another UDI task sequence using the same boot image and toolkit/settings packages, but am experiencing the same error during deployment.  We have a few OSD task sequences built without UDI and those all still work just fine.
So, I am at a loss for where the root problem lies.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the entire SMSTS.log and BDD.log...

    Hi,
Can you please try increase the below MaxXACallMillis setting in Weblogic set 'Maximum Duration of XA Calls' to a bigger value
MaxXACallMillis: Sets the maximum allowed duration (in milliseconds) of XA calls to XA resources. This setting applies to the entire domain.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/jta/trxcon.html
The parameter is exposed through administration console: services --> jta --> advanced --> "Maximum Duration of XA Calls:"
Check the below docs for more information
WLS 10.3: Intermittent XA error: XAResource.XAER_RMERR (Doc ID 1118264.1)
    Hope it Helps

It sounds like either your hard drive or the SATA cable that connects it to the motherboard are failing. This could be heat related in your case, which is why you see it after it runs awhile. You can take it to the Genius Bar for a free evaluation. If you decide to test it yourself, I usually suggest moving the hard drive to an external enclosure. If it works there for awhile, the cable is probably the issue.

We have tried following but no resolution could be found with these changes.
increase MaxXACallMillis value to 600000 on JTA Advanced settings.
Increase max pool size from 100 to 150.
Please enable set XA transaction timeout configuration for MyPool data source and let timeout value remain 0.
Most of the stack traces logged when this exception is raised, point to JMS queue listener making DB calls using XA pool connection. However, JMS transaction factory is non-XA.

    Hi mates,
Did you finally manage to solve this issue? We are facing a very similar one, but with a transaction related to SqlJmsProvider. The transactions related to the message polling are very light and shouldn't be expiring.
Do you have any suggestion about this?
We have our app (ATG10.0.1deployed in WebLogic10.3.
