Ooops - split libraries in finder...now what???
Yeah, I know this is way bigger than "oops." A while back I split my library by year in the finder. iPhoto didn't work so well after that. (No kidding.) I've tried rebuilding but iPhoto doesn't recognize each library as a library without the supporting files which are missing. I tried copying in the files from another library but that gets me a lot of empty spots and makes me a bit nervous as I think about moving from the years with just a few hundred photos to the ones with many thousands. I also tried upgrading from 4 to 6 and did I mention that I'm a hobbyist photographer and I shoot a LOT of pictures? Way more than V4 could handle - it kept forcing me into separate/new libraries. I did purchase IPLM from my searches here the last couple days trying to figure this out, but where do I even start with that? ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

If it were only a few files and you could put them back in their original locations you might be able to recover the library. But with so many involved you're only option is to start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from the old library as follows:
Creating a new library while preserving the rolls from the original.
Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
Drag the Originals folder from the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same rolls as the original library. However dates on the rolls may be different but can be edited as you would the roll title.
Once this is completed you can delete the Originals folder from the desktop and the iPhoto Llibrary folder. If desired, you can keep the older library folder to try other fixes on it.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Deleted time machine backups in Finder, now what?
I know this was foolish, but I didn't do any research before hand. My external drive had 8Gs left and the Time Machine window said it couldn't backup because it was almost full. I thought it also said something about deleting previous Time Machine backups, so I selected the first 10 or so and put them in the trash. Then when I tried to empty the trash, it took forever (still going right now at 317,996 items to delete). Anyway, my question is, now what? I am not concerned about the older backups but do I need to do anything special for a proper backup of the iMac now? Should I start over or will Time Machine fill in the gaps. I have been searching on the forum but I still don't understand how this works. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry, I neglected to answer this before.
Assuming there's no damage, or it's repairable, then no, you don't need to do anything more, although you should do a new backup as soon as you're sure the existing backups are ok.
What you've lost is only the backups of any files and folders that existed only at the time of the backups you deleted.
So if those "first 10 or so" were your oldest backups, all you've done is what TM would have done anyway, although perhaps a bit faster. If they were your more recent ones, then you've lost the copies of items that were added or changed after the time of the oldest one still there.
It is a strange concept, and a very powerful system, but let me put it this way: TM will never delete it's copy of anything that's still on your system, or was there at the time of any remaining backup.
You manually deleting them works exactly the same way.
This is the "magic" of the "multi-links" that TM uses. Think of them as multiple, extra-fancy aliases. Every backup contains "links" to TM's copy of every item that was on your Mac at the time of that backup. So a file that's not been changed in a long time will have a whole passel of them; a new file will only have one, or a few. What you deleted were these links; the actual backup copies are only deleted from the TM disk when the last link to it is deleted.
So . . . you may have dodged a bullet! -
I have followed the directions - and have downloaded Find My Ipad from Apple Store onto my Ipad2 and enabled the Find My Ipad in the Cloud settings. Now what do I do? No where does it tell me! Not in the user guide, nor any of the help pages. I think I need to put the Find My Ipad in the Cloud - but does this mean in the dropbox? and if so, how do I do that? I tried to drop and drag but it would not do that. I would think I would need to have it on my PC Windows 7 but I cannot figure out how to download the software. Please help. Thank you.

I have replied to you three times now without reply. I DID NOT authorise a payment of £9.99 for NowTV. What is the solution to getting my money refunded. I think you assume I will go away after being Ignored. No I will not go away. I find now that you have DISABLED MY APPLE ID. Is this a punishment you use to anyone who takes up a stand against charges being made unauthorised on their account?. Please tell me why you have disabled my account. When will my account be restored? If not when will you refund ALL my purchases made to APPLE/ITUNES? I can then move on to another brand and hopefully better customer service. After reading articles regarding APPLE ID DISABLED it appears common practice from your company to DISABLE anyone's account if they question unknown charges. After burning a successful DVD in iDVD out of FCPX, how can I see the settings it used?
So I finally burned a DVD out of a Apple Pro Res file into iDVD in PAL format. My question now is how can I find out what the exact burn properties were so that I can apply the same burn properties to a project in Compressor 4?
Is it possible to see what iDVD did?I don't know any way you can interrogate iDVD to reveal settings to the extent that you can in a Compressor project. What you could do is open up the show's VOB in MPEG STreamclip, go to File and Reveal Stream Information; that will at least give you some rudimentary info like average bit rate. Perhaps someone, with more iDVD experience, can chime in here.
The broader question is why use Compressor at all if your current workflow is doing the job to your satisfaction?
The value of Compressor is that it gives you control over the many parameters that affect size quality. and playability. The Compressor presets can give you a starting point for DVD delivery, Web, etc. From those presets, people typically experiment by adjusting the parameters until they get the desired results for their specific show. It's a little bit science and a little bit art. After experimenting, you may be able to get slightly better quality for the project you've successfully burned in iDVD by using Compressor and something likeToast…or maybe not.

If that doesn't help, relaunch the Finder > Relaunch Finder… from the Mac OS X Finder

Entering your Wifi password will not - unless I'm missing something completely - disable your iPad. The only thing which will disable your iPad that I'm aware of is entering your passcode for iPad incorrectly multiple times.

If you have forgotten your password for your router the WPA or WPA2 key as it's also known as they you will need to log in to your Router and setup a new WPA(2) key.

Used to be able to pick out which songs in iTunes in my computer were not on a 2nd computer on homeshare in iTunes 10. Now with V11, cant find the button that compares two libraries and finds the songs that are different. Anyone know how to do this now?

The reps at that time deflected the easiest course of action, by trying to get you to replace the phone under insurance instead of returning the phone. The Early Edge payment option requires the current phone on the line using the early Edge must be returned to Verizon Wireless. Did you once considered going to a third party site like Swappa to purchase a gently used device for your daughter? -

iPhoto stores your photos in the iPhoto Library, by default it is in your Pictures folder. Double-click the iPhoto Library in "Pictures". Did you restore your documents and data, including the Pictures folder from your backup after the drive has been wiped? -

I am trying to find out what information it actually stored on my iCloud. I shared an account with someone and no longer do however I believe that the other person has accessed all of my contacts. Is there a way I can find out what was on the cloud that was accessed.
You can go to icloud.com from your computer to see what data is in the account (other than photo stream photos and your iCloud backup), but you won't know what data may have been accessed by someone else. If you're concerned, change your password as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5624. After changing your iCloud ID password, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new password.
When you delete the account it only deletes the account and your synced data from your device, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will be synced back when you sign back in. Save you photo stream photos before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll) -
When trying to recover a lost iTunes library file, the programme moved all the normal contents of iTunes folder to the desktop. Now what must I do? There is no iTunes Library.itl file. On the desktop it is labelled iTunes Library.xml. Several others files have appeared there too including iTunes Music Library.xml

The permissions thing may be a red herring, but if there is a problem with file access rights to the designated media folder iTunes has been known to place files on the desktop instead since it can access this location. The most common cause for such problems is working with a folder on an NTFS drive via a differnt account or on a different computer. In the normal course of events folders created inside user profiles have limited rights for other users.
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
Normally the iTunes folder will be created at <User's Music>\iTunes with the media folder inside it. The library files should all appear in the same place so your comment about there not being an iTunes Library.itl file is confusing. Is it just the case that the .itl extension is hidden? The two .xml files makes sense from the above and indicates that the active library is not in <User's Music>\iTunes, but you have a recovered file from when it was.
If, in fact, the situation is that your desktop is acting as the main iTunes folder, and contains the library file, Album Artwork, iTunes Media and (optionally) Previous iTunes Libraries folders, with all other content being inside the iTunes Media folder, then it should be relativly easy to rearrange your into the correct shape and move them to the correct location.
If things are more complex, with something other than a library folder containing a media folder, then reestablishing the normal order is more complicated. The iTunes consolidate function is used to bring copies of files stored outside of the media folder into the media folder. It may sometimes be needed as part of the process of tidying up, however it leaves behind originals. There are circumstances where there isn't room for two complete sets of the media files on the same drive which is why I suggested the script might be useful as it produces the same results for the library without leaving the originals for manual clear up.
I think before you do anything however, we should get a clearer picture of exactly what is where. Could you perhaps take a screenshot of the desktop and post it here? Take a look at this post on making a split library portable. The same techniques I outline there can be used to lick your library into shape, it is just a question of working out which to use in which order for the best effect.
