OoTunes or WunderRadio?

I was hoping to get some opinions on these two radio programs. I know that both have reviews in the App Store, but often those reviews are skewed because people complain about Sirius (which I won't use) or else they talk about the ooTunes Media Server (again, not what I'm interested in).
I just want a comprehensive, glitch-free (or as close as possible) radio player. I've heard some complaints that WunderRadio makes it so your phone doesn't receive calls while it is in use. Any comments there?
Also, WunderRadio talks about being tied to RadioTime.com, but I notice that RadioTime lists some stations that aren't listed on WunderRadio's website. Specifically, I was looking for KLAC 570 AM in Los Angeles and KIOZ The Rock 105.3 FM in San Diego. Any help here?
Also, what about glitching/freezing/buffering problems? How about the extra features such as:
WUNDER - Play back popular shows at your own leisure if you missed the live broadcast
OOTUNES - Built in web browser. Does it work?
or just any other features you found useful?
Thanks for any help!

Hello, I have tried out 11 of the various radio streaming apps and have to say that ooTunes is your best radio streaming app. There are a multitude of reasons but the two most important are the Customer Service and the multitude of ways that you can utilize this app.
Wunderadio is limited to playing radiotime.com streams and even then do not play all of them. You have not freedom to do anything else with your iPhone when using this app.
With ooTunes, if your stations are not listed then usually within 24 hours they will be available if/when you contact the developer Steve. He is one of the best developers I have ever dealt with and responds to each and every email and post that he can. With ooTunes you have so much versatility. You can listen to the streaming app, you can go to the server mode which you noted is extra and use your whole iTunes library or you can utilize other apps on the iPhone while you listen to your radio station on the background server. It all works and works flawlessly. I use this app on the edge network with 3 bars and can still stream @ 67 kbps of my favorite radio station. I have purchased the server and can listen to my music that will not fit on my iPhone. I also can view videos, watch my tv episodes or even a movie if I have a wifi access anywhere. I do not have 3G so have been unable to test at that speed. You have other options as well with ooTunes...tweet, check email, play radio roolette and so much more. This is true Radio+ on your iPhone and so much more.
I did a search for you in my ooTunes and AM570 KLAC, Fox Radio K-Los Angelas is available and works on edge w/3 bars and Rock 105.3 FM San Diego CA is also available at 64 kbps and streams just fine.
Hope that helps and that you are able to enjoy everyday radio again!

  • IPhone 3Gs Battery Issues or Not? WunderRadio or IheartRadio

Does anyone use their Iphone to listen to IHeartRadio or WunderRadio? I like to use it at work to listen to different stations but it makes me wonder if my battery is ok. I have wifi turned off and 3g off so I am using EDGE and I am getting about 4.5 hours usage with 22% battery remaining. Does this seem right or should I hook up my iphone via USB while at work to save battery?
This is my second 3gs as my first definetly had battery issues.

well, as for battery consumption, EDGE is much better (12hrs advertised) compared to 3G (5hrs).
4.5hrs seems not so much, but it could be normal, internet drains the battery pretty heavily. if your phone behaves normal otherwise I wouldn't worry about it

  • Listening to BBC radio stream

    Hi
I live in Bangkok and like to listen to the BBC radio 5 web stream while driving around town.
Currently I'm using WunderRadio but I was wondering if anyone would recommend different radio streaming software?
    Thanks
    Mick

    Hi BkkMick,
My app (yes, I'm the developer, and I will get paid if you buy my app) ooTunes Radio has many of the BBC streams. However, only those that are available in windows media audio (WMA format) will work in the apps that support wma format. ooTunes Radio (my app), Wunder, pocket tunes and FStream (a free app) all support wma audio streams. I have the BBC 5 live and BBC 5 sports xtra streams already in the built in database and they work great. The full list of stations compatible with my app is here: http://ootunes.com/s/ though there are a few BBC streams there that only work in the UK (they are labeled that way). Good Luck!

  • 3.1 problems? - All of the above

3.1 problems, yeah, I got em.
I updated my phone to 3.1 and left my wife's at the previous version. Both phones are identical with basically the same apps on both. My phone was a brand new one from a service call 2 weeks ago that I got at the not so genius bar fresh out of the box, hers is the original phone we got at the same time 8 months ago.
My battery life (3.1) is horrible. My phone heats up drastically when I stream music through WunderRadio (which 9 out of 10 times does not work anymore on my phone, but works on hers) and others. Her phone is still having good battery life. No heating issues with her phone when using streaming. We actually use the phones all day to stream and other things, except she places 10x more calls than I do.
Half my apps do not work. I go into them and they either hang, or close and I am back to the home screen. On her phone, the same exact apps work fine. I use WunderRadio every day for about 4 - 6 hours a day before the update. Now I am lucky that it works 5 minutes of the day.
Calls. I can barely place one. We have places several calls as a test, she completed 9 of 10 calls on different locations, the same 10 locations gave me 3 out of 10 completed. 7 dropped calls to her 1.
Disappearing apps. I have had all my apps disapear twice. If I turn the phone off completely, they come back. But most don't work.
WiFi - I have to wireless at home, a home the size of shoe box. My phone does not stay connected to either, my wife's phone stays connected 100% of the time.
total shutdowns. Oh yeah, probably 2 dozen times. 3 times during calls.
So basically, the thing is a worthless POS until Apple fixes this update with another update or I go back to the previous version. I have had this thing for 8 months and every update has been an adventure (error 1604 and 1611 ring a bell?), and I am really getting tired of issue after issue with this thing. My Blackberry has never had an issue and I can pretty much stream and listen to music on that thing as well, but it is a work phone and I don't want to abuse privileges.
Do Apple support people read these forums? I will be given a new phone today when I call them and have to go to the not so genius bar to get yet another phone that will do the same thing. Hey Apple support, maybe read these forums and see the thing no worky.
How come they never say all these issues with their hardware on their cute Mac vs PC advertisements? where is your reliability now?

Funny thing is, this IS a new phone. I got it 2 weeks ago when I took my old one in because it wouldn't do anything with the update and I kept getting a 1604 and 1611 error. When I called support, they said it was a hardware issue so I need to bring it in. I got a new phone with 3.0.1 on it. I gave it a day and got it back up and running with all apps and the likes and it worked fine, I then tried the update to 3.1 to see if indeed it was a hardware issue, and it updated with no problems. But ever since then, all from my original post started happening.
I can't figure out why using one app while on a charge will actually drain the battery.

  • How do I add my radio staion to itunes radio?

We stream a 24/7 internet radio station, currently available on our website and also available on TuneIn Radio and ooTunes.  How do we get our stream added to iTunes Radio?
    Thanks,
    sdensler

if you put a CD in the computer, you should get a pop up window that asks if you want to import it.
Or you can go to the 'add to library' or 'import' options in the file menu and use that. a window pops up for you to browse and select a source to bring in your music files. that works for cd's as well as music files on your hard drive.

  • Copy applications from Apple IPOD Touch to Apple IPHONE

I purchased me an IPHONE and I have application that I installed from Apple Applications from using the ICON on the IPOD TOUCH. I am interested in know instead of paying again for the same applications can I transfer/copy these applications to the IPHONE. I already Synced the IPOD after installing these applications.

Thank you for the help. When I receive my phone I will then do this. I only want to use the phone for internet and listening to radio stations though my Wunderradio application. There should be a way to SYNC the phone and just ask for data service only correct? This phonw was purchased from Flea Bay therefor no contract.

  • Streaming audio apps drop unexpectedly

I use several streaming audio apps (Pandora, iHeartRadio, WunderRadio) on my iPhone, but they seem to drop/crash unexpectedly, often in the middle of a song or program. Usually the crash happens after several minutes, but I seem to have to relaunch an app at least once every 30 minutes. Is there a time limit on the amount of time the iPhone can stream audio, or is this just an app crashing. I have looked, but have been unable to find any settings for streaming time limits.

There are no streaming time limits imposed by the iPhone.
Pandora drops out on me occasionally but never crashes. I assume the drops are due to an imperfect cellular connection and/or Pandora servers.
Regarding crashes, this shouldn't happen. Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Windows Media Player/streaming app

Does anyone know if there is an app for streaming audio that needs either Windows Media Player or Winamp to be able to listen to it? I can listen to my on-air and streaming radio station (www.1077wacc.org -- in case you want to test it out) using my AT&T Tilt, however, I have yet to find an app to receive the audio using the iPhone. Many thanks!

    Hi Veshman,
I'm the developer of an iPhone app that now has close to 10,000 streams in it's built in DB. My app can play WMA radio streams, as well as mp3, and aac+ (typically used for winamp streams). You can see the list of current stations here: http://ootunes.com/stations/ and your stream may already be added. If it isn't just send a message from the site and I can add it for you. Hope that helps,
    Steve

  • Bizarre problem - I am hearing streamed music

OK, this is really weird and I hope someone can explain what's going on.
As I type this I am listening to an internet radio station that I usually listen to on my iPhone through WunderRadio. The problem is, I haven't accessed this station on my Macbook, ever!
So, as I type, this music is playing through my Macbook, iTunes is not on, I have even exited Safari completely and turned off my access to the internet and still it plays... It is like a ghost in the machine. Oh and yes my iPhone is turned off too.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here?????

If your internet access is off, i.e. your computer has no access to the internet, then you are getting the audio from ghosts or some other super natural medium. Or, there is a lot of data still in a buffer that has not yet played out. I would go with the later.

  • No E-Mail Updates or High Bit-Rate Audio Using WiFi

When I use WiFi and click on the mail icon, my 3GS will not update my e-mail messages. The network activity icon just keeps going and going. Additionally, I cannot get audio streams over 128k on apps such as Wunderradio. Everything works fine on 3G networks and I have enabled the high bit rate option for the apps that have such an option.
The two problems happen on all Wifi networks, so the problem isn't my home network
Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Yes. I am able to surf the internet and do everything else except for the two problems I outlined in my original post. The icon switches from 3G to the WiFi "fan". Using the Speedtest.net application I have checked my WiFi connection and it is usually at 4,400 kbps download and 1,000 kbps upload.
In case someone asks: I am using an att.net e-mail account, but have also tried my comcast.net account with the same results.

  • Some Of My Apps Do Not Work After Upgrading To iOS 4 And Fluctuating Wi-Fi

After upgrading to iOS 4 on my 8GB iPod Touch, some of my audio apps do not work. CBS Radio just crashes, ESPN Radio stays on the "Station ESPN Radio data loaded" screen, and the iRadioSuite stays on "Connecting". Sirius/XM Online, iheart radio, Radio, and WunderRadio appear to work correctly. Also, I always had three bars for wi-fi signal strength on my home network before the upgrade. Now I get fluctuating levels that at times go down to two bars and even one bar. Needless to say, this is very frustrating!

I also updated the iPhone 3G yesterday to iOS 4. I just turned on wi-fi on the iPhone. CBS Radio crashed on the iPhone but I got a steady three bar wi-fi signal strength level as I moved around the condo so this must be an 8GB iPod Touch and iOS 4 interface issue.

  • Listening to radio on new 3G iPhone

    Hi
I purchased the original iPhone in April and was disappointed that it was not possible to listen to FM radio. I found that I could stream some stations such as Capital FM on musicradio.com over the Edge network, however, it would cut out immediately when on the move.
I intend to upgrade to the new 3G phone this month but wanted to know if the 3G network would be able to support radio streaming without interuptions when travelling? I live and commute in London.
If it is not possible to do this over the Safari browser, are then any software options available to me?
    Many thanks,
    Carl

BBC Radio 1 works with ooTunes. It supports windows media, real audio and mp3/aac streams.
    See:
    http://ootunes.com
    or
    http://demo.ootunes.com/radiostreams_that_work_oniphone
    for a list of stations.
NOTE: Since I am the developer of ooTunes..
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • Phone calls keep triggering Internet radio apps on hangup.

When I get off of a call, the last streaming Internet radio station in any app I've used (WunderRadio, Sirius, others...), starts on its own.
    Anyone else? Any clues?

What that means is that you didn't quit the streaming app, you only suspended it. A feature of the iPhone is that it will pause streaming apps for a call, then resume them after the call. This is actually a NEW feature; until iOS 4 you would have to restart the app yourself. But the fix is to terminate the streaming app when you are finished listening. If it doesn't have an "off" switch in the app then go to the home screen, double-press HOME to bring up the recent apps tape at the bottom, tap and hold the streaming app until a '-" appears on it, then tap the "-".

  • Ridiculous battery life over 3G

Since I upgraded to 2.2.1 I experienced a significant loss of battery life, but with 3.0 software things got unacceptable.
Say I undock my iPhone fully charged at 9am, just with a few calls and some email/apps, I find my battery completely out of juice by 6pm.
I tried different things, such as disabling wi-fi, push notifications, email fetch, etc. nothing works but to disable 3G. If I disable 3G connectivity and switch to the GSM network the phone manage to reach the end of the day with 20% of battery charge left.
Am I the only one experiencing this problem? It's unbelievable that I have to keep an iPhone 3G in 2G for it to stay turned on till the end of work day. Are there any solutions or patches to address this problem?

To those people who claim their battery life remains the same or better after 3.0, you must only use your phone to make and receive calls only. Cause I find that quiet impossible, when the 3gs forum is full of complaints about terrible baterry life as well.
    Apple please get it together!
I took my phone off the charger at 09;00 yesterday. Now (17:15 today, i.e. 32 hours later), it shows a 25% charge. In that time I have made and received several calls, sent and received a dozen texts, had my MobileMe email on Push and my two Imap accounts on 15-minutes fetch, read and replied to several email messages, read and posted to Twitter frequently and accessed a very large number of web pages via Safari. Oh, and played about an hour's worth of WunderRadio and Last.FM.
And I forgot to mention the wi-fi (always on), Bluetooth (in the car) and the few photos and 1 video segment (only a few seconds, but it all ads up. And the weather/flight status apps.
I don't say my battery life is great - I'd like the battery to last at least twice as long - but I do say that you're incorrect. There are more than a million 3GS iPhones in use now (it was up to a million before the end of June, so I don't know how high it is now) - this forum only hears about the complaints.
You have a problem with your phone - that's clear. Do 2 things:
    1. Take it back and get it replaced, because it obviously has a fault
    2. Stop assuming that anyone who doesn't have the fault is somehow cheating
