Opacity setting looks much lighter in Illustrator CC than in Acrobat?

I'm having a strange problem with Adobe Illustrator CC 2014. I've created a background using home builder floor plans. I currently have the artwork set to 25% opacity, but it looks more like 5-10% on screen. However, when I save the file as a PDF the 25% opacity looks fine. Why is there such a dramatic difference between the two applications?

Why don't they look the same if the settings are the same? Driving me CRAZY. I have my windows scaling factor at 124% and it needs to stay enlarged, otherwise nothing else on my system will be readable. The inconsistency of the workspaces is so annoying.

Thanks for the question. If your computer is not compatible with HD 1080p content, you should receive a prompt stating so - but should still be able to download the content for use on other devices. For more information, check out this resource:

Images appear much lighter in program

I have Photoshop Elements 11 and my pictures are significantly lighter in the program compared to the original. After I made my edits and saved the jpeg when I look at the image in the folder it is much darker. The monitor is obviously not the problem so I am trying to figure out what is happening from inserting my sim card to importing the photos into Photoshop that is causing them to appear SO much lighter. Please help

I should add that I do see the noise that InD captures - something like it - at about 400% enlargement in PS. That's what makes me wonder about PS's previews. It seems like something like that noise is present, but not discernable at my usual 8x11.5 size. I should add that I come from years of analogue photography and have been using PS since version 2.5. Happily, until I bought InDesign.

Where is the opacity setting in 2014.2?

I've got an audio file I'd love to do a BIT of healing or several other things ... but though the official Audition documentation and most tutorials still say to adjust the opacity setting on the tool bar, there IS NO such setting on my toolbar. Neither brush size nor opacity appear there ... nor can I find them through any menu setting, right-click, or anything.

As you say There's a lack of a full written manual and this is not only the case for Audition but for all software in Adobe or any other producer of programs. It has been always the last thing developers do because it is not something considered as a value adding feature to their capacities. And the guys are wrong! I mentioned that on an earlier forum here and when I was in a company developing financial software, I had to struggle with my developers to have a full clear and precise user's manual for my customers. I've used Audition for years long before Adobe acquired it from Syntrillium a PHX based company who created it under the name COOL EDIT PRO, there was a lighter version COOL EDIT. The ergonomy of the program has been radically changed and really was that necessary? I wonder....Perhaps I'm stupid but I prefer to work with a waveform presentation than the spectral and as said above many tools can't be used if you're not in this situation. Why should I switch to multitrack to be able to use the razor, when I do not intend to do a multitrack job, but just eliminate part of my audio? All this doesn't make sense and the result is a waste of time searching for hours! On the other hand you see Speedgrade with the worst ergonomy and color characters I've ever seen in my 40 years of using computers and programs and no effort up to this day is done to change that. One can write requests on the dedicated forums, it's like p...in a violin! (I don't want to be rude!).

a lot of time for the users who have acquired reflexes with the previous ones. If you sale products which discourage users to use them your sales going up for a few months will plummet and your cash-flows and resulting earnings with them. Bye Bye Dividends !
B/ Have a dedicated team to develop the user's manual and acting as if they were the final users.They'll put themselves in the user's minds. They'll get the reflexes of the way a user works, can check with the way they work and won't be overwhelmed by programming considerations which are totally a different problem. In short you can't be on both sides of the line at the same time. It's just common sense but as we all know it's the least thing used in a brain by people!

He had recently upgraded from wht we now know is 18.0 to 18.1 which is the latest version. He read the above artic
le and supposed that it was a bug fix release for his version - because the v17 ov18 number is not often displayed. It is usually just 2014 CC.
I have asked him to post a bug report about Adobe Illustrator CC 2014.1

In CS6 and later you can change the User Interface in the Preferences.
A brighter interface changes the pasteboard color. Tou can also check the Canvas Color to white.

Photo Booth Help! My photo booth screen is very very dark. I thought it was the screen but its at the brightest it can possibly be! So I grabbed my mothers MacBook Pro and It's much lighter and more clear. I have just the regular macbook. Please Help.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Safari displays picture much lighter

Hey guys!
I've got a big problem with safari. In my website I'm using a 2 pictures with a background image.
These 2 pictures are displayed much lighter than they in fact are. This is really confusing for me, because they don't fit to the background anymore. This problem appears in Safari only. If i choose to see this picture alone it also has the lighter color and if i save this picture it has the original color again.
Have you got any ideas? The website is www.doggychic.at (I'm just getting started with it )

Precomposed layer does not recognise opacity setting (bug)

I have a very simple precomposed layer comprising a single text layer with a drop shadow (layer style). However, it does not recognise the opacity setting in the main layer, even when set to 0% and the playhead is not even on the layer. If I change the opacity in the precomposed layer I can see it coming through to the main layer, but changing the opacity in the main layer does nothing.
I have reported this to Adobe as a bug, anyone have any other ideas?

There is a fix. Apply a layer style to your pre-comp, then turn off the any styles. CR will now evaluate layer styles in your source comp and render them in the proper order.
Why does that work? You have to understand how CR works. When you turn on Continuous Rasterization the layer type is identified before any effects or transformations take place. This is why you can scale a vector layer without problems if CR is turned on. This explains why a 3D pre-comp that contains a 2D layer will be rendered as a 2D layer.
When you apply a Layer Style you are changing the layer type in the same way you change a layer type from 2D to 3D. If you want to have transformations applied to the layer style in the source file you need to change the layer type of the pre-comp layer to Layer Styles.

I have two PDF documents that show a sample business card in PDF.
One was apparently created through illustrator and is the focument for the printers ... it is this document that shows a completely different colour to the one that is in the other PDF that was apparently created in Acrobat. Though designers assure me that they are exactly the same patenone and that it's the software interpretting it.
What i dont understand is why the colours would look different using the software from the same company....and why designers would put up with this as a basic layman it just looks plain wrong to me.

Exported PDF looks beautiful in Pages and Preview not in Acrobat Reader

Hi, I need a little help. I created an eBrochure in Pages which looks beautiful. When I export it to PDF, it looks amazing in Preview but not in Adobe Acrobat Reader; pictures doesn't look so bright and shiny, they loom more opaque. Also fonts look kind of weird. I went to Photoshop and tried to do it there, it looks better in Acrobat Reader but texts don't print as nice as the Pages one (photos do). So my problem I guess is with the photos on Pages... What can I do to ensure that my document created in Pages and exported to PDF can have the same quality in the Reader as it has in Preview?
Photos are in JPEG format and have a decent resolution I guess:
File Size 1.4 MB
With: 1200 pixels
Height: 1800 pixels
Resolution: 300 pixels/ inch
Pixel Dimensions: 6.18M
Pages computer is a MBA, 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, OS X 10.5.7, Pages '09 4.0.2

As far as I know, there is no provision for such settings in these programs.
Developer documentation for ICC colour management in Firefox 2, Firefox 3 and Firefox 3.5, see below. Firefox 3 has ICC colour management disabled by default. Firefox 3.5 has ICC colour management for images within which there is embedded an ICC source colour space profile. It is possible to set Firefox to colour manage the application windows as well as images with embedded ICC profiles. The developer documentation discusses how to do this in what sounds suspiciously like a command line / terminal tool, and also how to point Firefox 3.5 to the display profile. This in turn sounds suspiciously like Firefox 3.5 is unable to talk to the system level service and ask for the display profile automatically.
Camino and Opera ... I'll pass. I suspect it's more of the same mess.

Why do my pictures look different on my Nikon camera than they do in Lightroom 4

I am having trouble! I don't know if it's lightroom 4 or what's going on but the pictures that I take with my Nikon D300s look so much better in my camera than they do on my computer. When I import them into lightroom 4, it almost looks like the white balance and exposure changes. I always import them with 'none' selected for develop settings and metadata but i don't know if there's another option I can change to fix this. I've tried everything. Please help!

How to set permissions to allow reading on more than one device

Our base permissions restrict reading to one device for 365 days with print 1 page and copy 1 page limits. For a new book we're adding to our online library, we want to allow people to read on more than one device, with a defined expiration date (January 15, 2012) and no printing and no copying. (The "more than one device" restriction is intended to allow users to transfer the book to iTunes and read it in Bluefire Reader.)
How do we set permissions for this new book? In particular, what Read settings for devices do we use? No selection? The options in the ACS Console are not clear to us (i.e., the choice between A Single Device and Specific Device Type) and the manual doesn't offer an example. ... I'm guessing the selections should be none -- i.e., do not specify any device setting. Yes?
Any help would be appreciated.

Which I would describe as allow viewing on the device which fulfilled the content for one year, and in addition allow viewing on any mobile or tethered device (Bluefire Reader iPad app, android app, Nook Color, etc...) until Jan 15, 2010 at midnight PST. If you wish to use home sharing then you need to setup the Apple TV under your ID.
