OPC Alarm Event server connectivity?

Hi guys,
Can Lookout connect to OPC Alarm / Event servers? It is very important for me that I can do this.
OPC Data Access servers is no problem, but i don't want to redifine my 1000's of alarms that are already in the controller for the HMI in lookout.
Lookout is my favourite HMI application of all time, but if it can't access AE servers and DA servers at the same time then I'll have to use another software.
Many thanks,
Trev.

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your response. Is there a political or technical reason for this?
I thought that OPC AE connectivity would be the most fundamental thing in a HMI/SCADA system.
I have no possibility to read the internal controller alarms, events and trips on the SCADA system without altering the controller code to write them out to another interface (eg. Modbus).
I see it as a total waste of resources to have one interface for AE and another for DA.
Do you think this will change in the future? Your competitors offer AE.
Thanks,
Trev.

  • Does OPC UA Shared Variable Server support Alarm&Event and historical access?

OPC UA Shared Variable Server is a sample code and resides at https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-25602
It seems to support DSC <-> OPC-UA tag synchronization.
But does it support alarm&event and historical access?
I tried to open it with LabVIEW 2012, but lots of VIs were missing in the code, and I am not familiar with DSC and OPC-UA.

    Hi iCat,
From your post on the example itself, a colleague of mine responded with: "This uses the OPC UA server included in DSC 2011 SP1 which does not include direct support for Alarms and Events. However you could use this idea to synchronize to shared variables on a Windows host which could have those abilities enabled."
So it looks like it doesn't directly do this.

  • Connect alarm event to an analog output

    Hi,
I work on a LabView 5.1 Industrial Supervision System. I would like to
connect an alarm event (limit alert high and/or low) to an analog
output. The problem is that the system is very locked. I can't add
some Vi's. There is in some alarm configuration (for example in "Alarm
Setup.vi") the possiblity to do this connection.
    Thanks
    Nicolas Hrycenko

    Nicolas,
I am not exactly sure what you are asking. It should be fairly easy to check to see if a value is greater that some level, and if so toggle an alarm. Are you asking for ideas on how to do this, or are you trying to modify a VI (Alarm Setup VI) and not able to? I have never heard of that VI, so I assume it is not built into LabVIEW. Give us a little deeper idea of what you are trying to do, and I am sure we can help you out.

Has someone left the company or has an account of some nature been dropped/replaced?
Please click "Mark As Answer" if my post helped. Tony C.
    Hi Tony,
Srry but No.  We just installed the monthly updates.
I went back and found I had missed removing a patch.  I missed the rollup for Windows Server 2003:
    Event Type: Information
    Event Source: NtServicePack
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 4382
    Date:  3/12/2015
    Time:  12:26:04 PM
    User:  NETTEST\admin
    Computer: DATA1
    Description:
Windows Server 2003 KB954920 was removed from your computer, and the previous Windows Server 2003 configuration was restored.
After I removed that is still didn't work but after about five minutes it started working.
I guess I ned to report that to MS after I research what might be changed to make the patch work.
Every time I get stuck and ask for help it seems to be just before I stumble on the solution.
    Thanks for replying.
Well - maybe this will help someone else.
    Thanks again for replying Tony

  • Sql Server Connection Issues

After reinstalling Windows Server 2008 R2 EE my SQL 2008 R2 Sp2 Instances have some connection issues.
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
On the server there one DB Engine MSSQLSERVER, two named Reporting Services for MS crm 4.0 and SCOM and one Analysis Services Instance.
The DB Engine will collect Data from another DB, before writing to Analysis Services.
Here are the problems on the server:
When I connect via SSMS remotly, I sometimes get this error: Failed to connect to server <hostname> ... Named Pipes Provider, error 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server - Error 5
Both RS Instances have many event log errors like "Report Server (Instance) cannot connect to the report server database.". RS Reports are working fine, but sometimes the rendering is taking a long
    time.
The DB Engine Agent Job to collect Data sometimes throw the following error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.  An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0"  Hresult:
0x80004005  Description: "Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection".  End Error  Error: 2013-12-10 06:03:40.41     Code: 0xC00291EC
User use Excel to connect to the Cube on my server. Often they got timeout errors. When they connect again it will work.
Are there any solutons on this?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
The server were installed under the same hostname, but he got a new sid in my active directory.
Did you connect to SQL Server instance with Windows authentication? Since the SID of domain account is changed, the SQL Server instace may cannot verify the login account which stored in the master with old SID. In that case, please try to connect
SQL Server with SQL authentication and then readd the domian as login the instance.

that your UMEAdmin is not working properly...
in visual admin i tried to stop and start this service....
this service gets stopped but not getting start....
I tried it by rebooting the server also
In log its giving webdynpro container is not started,
And server0 color in SAP MMC is yellow and status is Starting apps..
The I tried redeployment of  these packages from sdm.
    aii_proxy_rt.sda
    aii_util_xml.sda
    grmg.sda
it gets successfully undeployed and then redeployed.
But still umeadmin service in visual administrator is down.
Then I tried undeployment of followingUME related components:
    core.ume.services..

but sdm gets hanged and evrything gets in processing mode on servre...
then in end i have to reboot the system...
then i chekced and these sda are missing from deployed components list.

Deployment of com.sap.security.core.ume.service finished with Error (Duration 5405522 ms)
Coz its giving me the error that sdm is not able to connect to j2ee engine in log file so deployment aborted.
And deployment is going on in sdm gui with 0% status
    And in between http://<host>:<port>/irj
    its showing:
    503 service unavailable
Dispatcher running but no server connected!
    No details available
    And in sapmmc..
    Server is in yellow colour..
    Regarding Server color...
I faced this problem earlier also when i deployed components related to usage type DI...and its not deployed properly and some error message comes in sdm...that deployment failed..even after that server color got changed fro Green to Yellow...
in that case i started the sdm in standalone mode and undeployed that componets and it worked fine....
and server status gets changed to green again...
but now when m trying this its giving me the error that its not getting connected to j2ee engine.....looks like server's services are not started properly....
below is the std_server0.out file of work director this the the log of when server gets started...and looks like service is not getting started and its giving thread dump.. kindly check this too...

  • Can I log the Alarms & Events in Citadel?

    Platform - LabVIEW DSC 6.1
    OS - WinNT 4.0 SP 6.0
    Hardware - NONE
By using "HIST Alarm & Event Query.vi" I can view the Alarms and events occured over a span of time. The data can be retrived even when the DSC Engine is shutdown but if I re-start my PC the Alarm & Event data is lost though the file "Ale00000.ale" which logs the Alarms & Events is there. Can you tell me what the problem is ? Is there a method of logging the Alarm & Event data automatically in the Citadel like the logging of the tag values ?

Somehow nobody replied to you. Maybe this is because we do not exactly understand what you describe.
Just in general : LabVIEW DSC 6.1/7 logs all the values/data and all the alarms and events through the Tag Engine (DSCEngine). Therefore, you need to do everything through tags. I can imagine that you configure a discrete tag with a certain alarm configuration. Once you set this tag to high it will generate an alarm. The unfortunate thing is that you can not specify a unique customized HIHI/HI/LO/LOLO message.
The behavior you descirbe with the "life-time" of alarms is wired. Either you ran an older version of Logos which might had - a long time ago - an issue with some 'zero-files' or you mix up the historical alarms with the current, live alarms. The LabVIEW
DSC Engine could keep some alarms and shows them up in the alarm summery as long a the engine is running (live-alarms) once you shut down the engine the alarm summery will not show those alarms anymore. However, when you query the historical alarms you should get those alarms back from the database (regardless if the engine is running or not)
In LabVIEW DSC 7.0 National Instruments distinguishs between historical alarms and life alarms much better by having a "DSC Engine-internal" alarm server implemented. The Citadel Service is monitoring this alarm server and once it gets a new alarm it will put it to a relational database (MS SQL Server/MSDE).
This new change sounds quite promising for the new feature set of LabVIEW DSC 7.
    Hope this helps

  • Alarm & Event Query To Spreadsheet.vi

    dear all,
i m using  "Alarm & Event Query To Spreadsheet.vi" for alarm transfer using following inputs
    1. Filter
    2.Display Format
    3. Output file path(C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\*.ALR)
and Database URL it will take by default i.e current tagfile.scf
on running this i get following error
"HIST_AlarmsToSpreadsheet.vi, Citadel:  (Hex 0x8ABC1008) Read alarm failed because of connection or query failure."
if i give the database URL manually in the following way
    \\computer name\Labview
then i get the following error out
    "HIST_AlarmsToSpreadsheet.vi, IAK_SHARED:  (Hex 0x8ABC700A) Not found."
so pls solve my problem as early as possible for u
     thanks and regards,
    dhanwanti

    Hi dhanwanti,
There could be a couple possibilities here -- one is that the database you are trying to reference has become disconnected -- Make sure you can see historical data in MAX.  If needed, reconnect your database or create a new one and change this in the .scf file in the Tag Configuration Editor.
Another possibility is that some of the parameters you have set in the filtering could be incorrect such as start and stop time.  I would suggest creating a simple test VI to make sure you can get the Alarm & Event Query To Spreadsheet.vi working, and then double check how it integrates into your project.   You may also want to take a look at the example that ships with the DSC Module for this VI, found in the Example Finder under Toolkits and Modules » Datalogging and Supervisory Control » Alarms and Events » Export Alarms to File.VI.

Not sure if this is a cause for your error, but JDev11.1.2.1.0 doesn't work with SOA right now. For SOA you need to use jdev11.1.1.5.0 or lower.

  • NetConnection.connected is false upon receiving NetStatus event "NetConnection.Connect.Success"

I can only reproduce this on Chrome with a non-debug version of Flash.
I can see that "NetConnection.connected" is still false after receiving NetStatus event "NetConnection.Connect.Success".
    1. I wonder whether this issue only applies to certain versions.
    2. Using a netConnection which is not connected to create a NetStream populates an "arugment error". I wonder what would be the safe thing to do here? Perhaps after receiving the NetConnection.Connect.Success, check "NetConnection.connected" before using it to create the NetStream?

Are you sure your FMS is up - NetConnection.Connect.Failed comes when  client was not able to reach server kind - which would happen when FMS  is down or your FMS is running on some other machine and your client is  on some other machine as i see you are using localhost. If your FMS is  one "A" machine and your client in on "B" machine please put "ip  address" or "domain name" of "A" machine where FMS is in Netconnection  URI i.e. "rtmp://ipaddressofA/live"
my fms is on and it is on the same computer as my flash document

  • CITADEL and RELATIONAL DATABASE Alarms & Events Logging Time Resolution

    Hello,
I would like to know how I can setup Logging Time Resolution when Logging Alarms & Events to CITADEL or RELATIONAL DATABASE.
I tried use Logging:Time Resolution Property of Class: Variable Properties without success.
In my application I need that timestamp of SetTime, AckTime and ClearTime will be logged using Second Time Resolution, in other words, with fractional seconds part zero.
I am using a Event Structure to get SetTime, AckTime and ClearTime events and I want to UPDATE Area and Ack Comment Fields thru Database Connectivity but when I use SetTime timestamp supplied by Event Structure in WHERE clause Its not possible get the right alarm record because there are a different time resolution between LV SetTime timestamp and timestamp value logged in database.

I'm configuring the variables to be logged in the same way that appears on the file you send, but it doesn't work... I don't know what else to do.
I'm sending you the configuration image file, the error message image and a simple vi that creates the database; after, values are logged; I generate several values for the variable, values that are above the HI limit of the acceptance value (previously configured) so alarms are generated. When I push the button STOP, the system stops logging values to the database and performs a query to the alarms database, and the corresponding error is generated... (file attached)
The result: With the aid of MAXThe data is logged correctly on the DATA database (I can view the trace), but the alarm generated is not logged on the alarms database created programatically...
The same vi is used but creating another database manually with the aid of MAX and configuring the library to log the alarms to that database.... same result
I try this sabe conditions on three different PCs with the same result, and I try to reinstall LabVIEW (development and DSC) completelly (uff!) and still doesn't work... ¿what else can I do?
I'd appreciate very much your help.

  • Powerpoint web sharing fails with "some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues"

    Hi,
I am having problems getting PowerPoint sharing working with Lync 2013. My setup is as follows
Lync 2013 Enterprise pool (november 2013 updates) on Windows 2012 and
    Windows 2012 webapp farm
    Kemp HLB
Everything is working ok, including whiteboards and application sharing, but i cannot get the powerpoint sharing to work. I always get the "some presenting features are unavailable due to server connectivity issues" for internal or external
    users.
The webapp looks healthy and there are no errors in the Lync server or the webapp event log. Discovery urls can be accessed and i have put the .net 3.5 as suggested in a few forums.
When a user starts the PowerPoint it successfully loads the file to the Lync file share and request goto the webapp server. I am using a HLB which shows me that requests are forwarded to the webapp farm. I have removed the HLB for testing and get the same
    results.
I did log this with the forum a month or so ago, but I had a file upload issue then which is now solved, but the powerpoint sharing is not.
    any ideas?

First off, let me say that in the past (pre v9) when I've tried to use Windows logins with datasources, it never worked.  But that doesn't mean that they finally got it working, just that I stopped trying.
What I was referring to in my post is that once you have CF installed, you need to go to the Windows Services screen, open each of the CF processes, click on the LOGIN tab, and change it from the default services login to be whatever WIndows login you have setup in Active Directory.  Then restart CF so that it's process is now running under that login with its credentials.  Then go to SQL Admin and setup that same login and give it access to the database you want to access.  Then go to CF Datasource menu and setup the datasource as you did previously.  If CF's support of Windows authentication for datasources does in fact now work, you should be in business.
If it doesn't work, then you'll need to do as I said earlier, and setup SQL logins for the CF servers to use, and then in the CF Datasource setup screens you would specify that login info in the same way that you would have given it the "sa" login info.

  • DSC-Merging the Alarm Events Generated

I am afraid whether I will be able to merge the alarm events generated in two different database configured in two PC’s (Servers).
Both the data base monitors same traces and processes, one pc will be an active server and another will be an backup server. We have situation that one server may fail and come back alive.  In this situation how can I combine the alarm events generated in two different PC's?
Merging the database doesn’t helps instead generates the error when queried for logged Alarms and Events. However merging the data base combines the traces data.
We are using Labview 8.2.1 and DSC 8.2.
Any help will be much appriciated.
    Thanks,
    Vijay Jayabalan.

    Thanks for your reply
We are monitoring about 25000+ I/O points (cFP-180X), we are using Shared Variable in order to read data from cFP and update the data for Shared Variable deployed on Two Central Server Computer (One Duty and other standby named A and B servers respectively) each hosting a separate set of shared variable for the I/O points (only difference being the computer names)
The Set of shared variable deployed on both servers, have the same configuration information such as alarms, logging etc as well as the same names.
Given a situation that Server A fails (PC Crash/shutdown/restart), then the other server B will still provide the Alarms and Event information.
However, when Server A return to normal operation then the Alarm and Event Set Time, Acknowledgement Time and Clear Time will be different than that in Server B.
With an example let us say that,
At 4.00 am in the morning Server A works fine and Server B is down, now the Shared Variable Deployed in the Server A will read data from the Field and Update any alarm information, if an alarm occurs (Shared Variable) at 4 am then this information of Set Time of Alarm (Read Alarm VI) is present in Server A and not in Shared Variable deployed Server B.
Now, on the same day let us say Server B start working normally at 11.00 am, so the (Read Alarm VI) from the Shared Variable deployed in Server B will return the Set Time of the alarm as 11 am and not as 4 am (which is when the alarm actually occurred)
What we would like to know is there any way we could merge the alarm information between both the computers for two sets of Shared Variables (similar to Redundancy in Lookout)?
Kindly reply in case you need more details.
