Open a PDF directly in iBooks

Hi guys, I need to open a pdf (located on a website) directly into iBooks.
Do you know a way to do that in Adobe AIR?
Thank you so much!
Brandon

No, I don't think so. The pdf isn't capable of knowing which folder you would like it to open in – all it knows is that it is a pdf. It's up to you to put it in the appropariate folder.

  • How can i set Adobe to open pdf from a secure website in the browser, it just pops up and asks to open save or download. we want it to just open the PDF directly in the browser with no popups, using IE 11

    Hi,
We are running Internet explorer 11 with the latest version of Adobe Reader.
have found when users login to a secure website and it has pdf links on there, it doesnt open these pdf directly in the browser, it wants to save them and then open them.
is there anything we can change to allow them to be opened directly in the browser?
    Thanks,

  • It takes three tries to successfully open a PDF file in iBooks.

         This is regarding ipad2.
When I click on "open in iBooks," the bookshelf opens up and right upper circular icon spins as if it's about to open file, but the it stops and reverts back to edit button without anything else happening. So I try a second time on the "open in iBooks" from the PDF page, and this time, the icon of the PDF file appears on the bookshelf but then disappears a few seconds after that. If I happen to click on the icon before the icon disappears, the PDF will open but then will also disappear same few seconds later and then iPad goes back to home page or it opens up the "books" bookshelf. So third times a charm--clicking on "open in iBooks" the third time will finally open up PDF file in iBooks and incorporate it into the library.
Not sure if this is due (1) to size of my library--some 600+ PDFs, (2) recently upgraded to iBooks 2.1--can't remember if this started before or after.  I also just upgraded to iOS 5.1 yesterday hoping and thinking this would resolve the issue but it hasn't. Anyone with any suggestions?

    Hi Alan,
Sorry for the late response. i was busy with other work.
Through InputStream i can get the Remote remote resource by establishing the HttpURLConnection with the cookie information(that's how it can get credentials). But i don't know how to view the file using PDF_Renderer.
when i use the below code, it is working fine(i used PdfReader to read the InputStream ) but Sample.pdf is creating on the desktop of the system beacause of FileOutputStream which used as a parameter of PdfStamper.
// create a stamper that will copy the document to a new file named Sample.pdf
    PdfStamper stamp = new PdfStamper(reader,
         new FileOutputStream("Sample.pdf"));
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler "+"Sample.pdf");
Please provide me some solution through PDF_Renderer. i checked the api, i didn't get any idea.
    Thanks.

  • Open a pdf directly in IE11 (ACrobat Reader VI, Windows 8.1)

    Hello!
We use Acrobat Reader, Windows 8.1 and IE11 in our company.
Unfortunately no user is able to open a pdf directly with IE11.
Instead of opening the pdf there is a popup which asked what to do with the pdf -open, save or saveas
I couldn't find a way to setup a default action (open)
In earlier versions it was possible to set the option "open in Browser".
This option is missing in AR11.
    But why?
How can i set the deafult action?
    thx

    Hello together!
the problem was still there, so i decided to modify my search.
Fortunately i found a technet-post, which described our problem.
The following solution worked in our enviroment. PDF-documents will now be opened directly in IE11.
In Windows 7 (also Win8.1!!!!!), there is not the key AttachmentExecute by default. For this reason, Checkbox for "always ask before opening this type of file" is missing in the Download prompt window.
Actually, you can choose to add this key in your Registry by following txt, Copy them to notepad, then renamed as .reg file. After that, import to Registry.
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000- C000-000000000046}]
    " AcroPDF.PDF.1"=hex(0):
Many Thanks to Roger Lu from the technet community support!

  • Why can't I open new PDF files into iBooks

I cannot open new PDF files in iBooks, they flash really quick in PDF folder then disappear. I'm really frustrated

I am running Safari Version 5.1.5 (6534.55.3) on my iMac 10,1.  After my last Adobe update, my pdf files are nothing but a black window.  Have tried reverting to an earlier version of Adobe, but still getting a black window.  What next steps should I take?  Thanks.

  • Open an PDF from an iBook

    Hi,
Is it possible to open an PDF from an iBook, I know I can use an external link but the PDF will be already installed/loaded in the bookshelf.

  • How to open a "PDF Documents" in iBooks?

    Hello!
In order to "study" some documents (underline, write comments, etc as it was presented in the Maverick Video Show), i added some pdf documents to iBooks (on Maverick).
How to open it/them? when i click on a "book" (document), nothing happens. Why?

The annotations tools you describe only work on iBooks, not PDFs.
when you click on a PDF in iBooks Library, the document should open in Preview. Is that not happening?

  • Can no longer open email PDF attachment in iBooks

Just discovered can no longer open on iPad mini any email attachment PDF file in iBooks.  Cannot tap attachment and select open in iBooks. PDF attachment opens itself automatically on the body of the email. Is this a PDF problem or iPad problem or iBooks problem.

It's not a problem with either app. Just hold down on the open PDF to bring up the "open in" window. If hold down on the open PDF and select "Quick Look" , that will give you the full screen file and you will see the share icon in the upper right corner.

  • I want to Open a PDF attachment in iBook, but it doesn't work anymore.

I want to Open an Email attachés PDF in my iBook. Just do ist like always, but it doesn't work anymore.
    Can you help me.
    Thanks

Try quitting the iBooks App completely, restart the iPad and see if that helps.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close iBooks by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down the iBooks icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • When I open a PDF directly in acrobat pro 11 it provides the review pane at the right hand side on clicking on Comment button. But when I open it through browser the review  pane is missing.

The review pane is missing at the right hand side when I open a PDF in browser. I am using acrobat pro 11 and it is not even providing the option to prevent the PDF to open in browser.
Also, the review pane appears when I launch the PDF in acrobat directly.
Please could you help resolving this issue?

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible?  I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit.  It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues.  And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible?  I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues.  And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other.  So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together.  If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in.  So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed.  I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

  • If we have the original ipad, how can you open a pdf in the ibooks? the menu tap bar does not appear at the top of the screen like the new ipad2. Any suggestions?

If we have the original ipad, how can you open a pdf in ibooks? The menu bar does not pop up like it does on the ipad2. Any suggestions?

Are you in Safari and you want to copy them to iBooks, or you in a different app ? Assuming that you are using Safari, then if I open a PDF on my first gen iPad in Safari and tap on it, I then get a pop-up bar at the top of it with the 'Open In' options.

  • Open a PDF directly, without it downloading

I would desperately like my MBP to automatically open a PDF without it needing to be downloaded and then me needing to click on it to open it. I've searched forums (Apple and other) and can't find any coherent instruction and can't believe it's been this difficult.
I can't tell if it's a security setting or an Adobe Reader issue or some other setting.
    Running on OS X 10.9.5
    Thanks.

I prefer to open in Preview. But if I can have it not open in Adobe Reader, I'll at least settle for opening it in Safari (even though it's not my main web browser and therefore opens a new window; at least it opens the document immediately). I've tried making Preview my default reader, and it's been unsuccessful. I even removed Adobe Reader from my computer; and when I clicked a pdf link, I was told I couldn't open it cuz I didn't have Adobe Reader.
When I clicked on your link, the pdf downloaded to my Download folder. Of course, I get the icon to the pdf in my bottom nav bar, but I have to click on it to open it. And it opens in Adobe Reader right now.
If I never wanted to use Adobe Reader again, what is the most foolproof way to remove it and any trace of it from my computer?
    Thanks for your input.
(I hate to say it, but I never had this many problems with pdf viewing and Adobe Reader on a PC. Is it Mac or is it Me?)

  • I AM TRYING TO PUT  A PDF FILE IN IBOOKS, WHEN OPEN IT IN EMAIL NO OPTION TO OPEN IN IBOOKS.  CAN SOMEONE HELP?

I am trying to open a PDF file in Ibooks.  When I send it to myself via email and go to open on the Ipad I don't get the option to open in Ibooks.  How do I fix that?

    Hi johnc,
I'm sorry to hear that your file didn't convert well for you. Can you please tell me more about the PDF that you're trying to convert? Do you know how it was created? The quality of a conversion depends on the quality of the PDF, and it sounds like the file you have may not include the tagging information that is required to convert that properly into an Excel file. Would you be willing to share that file with me? If so, let me know and I'll send you a private message with my contact details.
    Best,
    Sara
