Open a pdf in Photoshop CS5 shows jpg - but no grafic

I have a handbook opened in Photoshop CS5 and I can see the jpg images of the handbook.
But not the grafic scematic images.
I am not aware if these are in svg or whatever.
How can I get access to those grafics?
Yes, I may open a page and copy a grafic,
but I would like to get the original content.
Thanks,

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 shows a missing Application manager on Lenovo 64 bit tower

I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled Adobe Photoshop CS5 on a Windows XP 64 bit Lenovo tower. When I attempt to open Adobe Photoshop CS5 in 64 but mode I get an error that says it can't find the Adobe Application Manager. I tried to look this error up and I found a site that referenced the 64 bit Adobe Photoshop CS5 was looking for the 32 bit version of Adobe Application Manager.  When I look in  my application folders, I can see the 64 bit Adobe Application Manager, but not the 32 bit version. The 64 bit Enterprise version of AAM runs, but Photoshop CS5 will still not start.  I tried force starting the AAM and according to task manager it runs for a few seconds then shuts down. In addition, I've checked the Services control panel and the only Adobe product that appears there is called Adobe Switchboard. I am in desperate need to get this working. Any ideas?

Hey photogal! I am experiencing the exact same problem as you on the same device. Hopefully a more seasoned member of the community can help us.

  • You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CS5 because it may be damaged or incomplete

    Hi all,
I have installed Adobe cs5 and all the other programs (indesign etc etc) work but when I try to open photoshop it says:
"You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CS5.app because it may be damaged or incomplete"
I am a noob, I first installed it but it was in polish, couldn't work out how to change the language but entered into the program without problems so I deleted, redownloaded and reinstalled and it said the above. I deleted, redownloaded and reinstalled again but it didn't help.
What else can I do? again, I am a noob to all of this (and Macs) so Idiots Guide to Fixing your Photoshop CS5" Would be fantastic!!
    Many thanks
    Chelsea

    Chelsea,
Your big (as in HUGE) mistake was in deleting the application instead of using the Adobe uninstaller.
Look for the CS5Clean script at the Adobe site, download it and run it according to the instrructions.
    Good luck.

  • Open a PDF in Photoshop without extra Dialogs

I am trying to open a PDF in Photoshop, convert to RGB, resize, and save as a jpeg. My problem starts with trying to open the PDF. I keep getting a dialog that request what color space, what size, how many bits . . .blah blah blah. I have gotton the Photoshop Action to work as a droplet because it lets me supress warnings. I have tried different Automater Actions, I have tried using Automator to use Photoshops Actions but I still get stopped at the Open PDF Dialog out of Photoshop. Any Ideas?
I want this to be fully Automated with no operator intervention.
    Thanks to all that answer.

  • "You cannot open the application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1" Because it isnotsupportedon this architectu

I have a Mac OS 10.5.8, 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, and although I have succesfully installed the photoshop files, they will not open. When I try to open it the comptuer says "You cannot open the application "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1" because it is not supported by this architecture." Does anyone know what the hell this means or what I should do? Thanks

Emmasrisd has it ever worked on this computer previously?  If so what has changed did you install new software or make any upgrades to the computer?  Have you also tried removing the software and reinstalling?  If so did you receive any error messages during the installation process?  Finally if you have tried to uninstall did you remove the program using the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

I get an error message saying 'An error has caused Photoshop to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available'. I have had no notification. My old Photoshop CS5 works fine, but as I'm paying for CC2014 I would like to use it. I have tried renaming the 'sniffer' file to 'snifferold' as bobmiller4002 suggested but the problem is not resolved. Lightroom works fine.

    Hi Nancy,
I'm not sure I have the answers to all your questions. Although I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, I'm not a 'techy'.
    My system;
    Packard bell imedia S2885
    1TB hard drive
    500G RAM
    Windows 8.1   64- bit
    Intel core i5 4440
If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.
             Thanks,

  • Frame7.1 wont import Photoshop CS5.1 .jpg file

I am (reluctantly) in the process of migrating from Windows XP +
    Photoshop CS V8.0 to Windows 7/64bit + Photoshop CS5.1.
Framemaker 7.1 works well in both XP and W7/64, including generating
PDFs. I can import .jpg files written by Photoshop CS. Etc.
    ... except...
If I open a known-good (already imported) .jpg file using Photoshop
CS5.1 and, without making any changes, save it, Framemaker can no
longer import it, neither directly or by reference:
"The filter encountered an error and could not complete the
        translation".
It appears the Photoshop CS5.1 writes a different .jpg file format
than Photoshop CS (rhetorical: how can it be acceptable for CS5.1 to
change the format of a basic .jpg file? but I digress...).
Examining the original .jpg file vs. the CS5 .jpg file I find:
    - The new file is smaller (79KB vs. 82KB) - note both are small!
    - The contents (examined using a binary editor) are quite different.
    - Both versions display identically, in both CS and CS5.1 and in
       various viewers.
I have tried various experiments trying to understand this and have
had no luck. I can open the CS5 .jpg file in Photoshop CS and save it
again but Framemaker will not open this version either, same error.
This is not a RAM size issue (8GB), swap space issue, or anything else
related to the computer hardware. All SW updates are current, etc.
I have tried importing into a new, default template file, etc.
So, I tried saving as .bmp and the first time I tried to import it
Framemaker died immediately: no stack trace, no error messages, the
Frame process was just gone. After restarting, the 2nd attempt I got a
black rectangle of the correct size, but all black = not usable.
Photoshop CS + Framemaker has worked well for many years, so I know
    this is a CS5 issue.
Anyone have any ideas on how to make CS5.1 generate a "standard" .jpg
    file?
Anyone have any ideas on how to import CS5.1 images using
    Framemaker 7.1?
Please don't advocate upgrading Framemaker to V10... Adobe provides zero
information on migration (from any version) and the last time we did
this cost us many man-months of work to "fix" 14K+ pages in 50+
manuals. We will stay with XP/CS and "eat" the new W7/CS5 system
    before we move to FM10.
    Thanks
    Previously (everything works)
      Windows XP/SP3
      Photoshop CS V8.0
      Framemaker 7.1P116, non-structured
    Today:
      Windows 7/64bit SP1
      Photoshop CS5.1
      Framemaker 7.1P116, non-structured

AG: IIRC, the FM7.1 JPG filter only reads the older JFIF header format JPG files, while the CS5 Photoshop and many other applications write EXIF headers in the JPG (yes , the standard evolved).
We also had a problem with JPEG 5 (legacy) vs. JPEG 2000 (newer) encoding, not in FM, but in the rendered PDFs at our print shop. The Xerox engine needed an update to fix that.
Using JPEGs in FM has various considerations, some already mentioned in this thread. But the biggest concern, in my view, is cascading compression damage. JPEG compression is always "lossy", and the artifacts at higher compression, or after successive compressions, are often visually distracting (and may be aggravated if sharpening is also applied). Even at NO compression, there are losses due to the transforms
Unless you are shooting .RAW, your camera is compressing from frame buffer to JPEG. When you re-save from your photo editor, regardless of edits, it gets re-compressed if saved to JPEG. When you render to PDF, it may get both down-samped and re-compressed again depending on PDF settings. If you post-process (optimize or reduce file size) in Acrobat, it can get down-sampled and re-compressed again.
So I shoot JPEG with as little compression as possible (RAW has other considerations). I edit in PhotoShop and save as EPS, which is a very inefficient format space-wise, but is UNcompressed*, and is a very efficient format both performance- and stability-wise in FM. I save the EPS at the resolution desired in the PDF (usually 200 dpi). Yes, it does get (and needs to be) re-compressed during Distill, but we've skipped one needless re-comp, and avoided another down-sample. We don't further optimize in Acrobat post because the images are already optimal.
EPS also supports both RGB and CMYK models, whereas JPEG is strictly RGB (or, beware: indexed color). And EPS is generally unmolested by Mr.Bill's GDI, which is crucial for color-managed CMYK.
    * TIFF can also be uncompressed, and CMYK, but can be a performance issue in FM.
The Wiki page for JPEG, btw, is presently vandalized:
"The name "JPEG" stands for Joint Photosaic Experts Group, the name of the committee that created the JPEG standard and also other standards. It was discovered by <likely name of vandal redacted> of the Philippines."

  • How to open "Bridge" in Adobe Photoshop cs5 Extension

    Hi Everyone,
I am creating a photoshop cs5 extension application using as3.
I would like to know about the way to open the adobe bridge inside the photoshop using as3/extend script.
    The reason i need is,
    1) The extension need to open the bridge to select list of images
    2) Selected images needs to available in the photoshop.
Please, help me to open the adobe bridge inside the photoshop and tell me the way to get selected images inside the bridge.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Karthick

The API reference for the Communication Toolkit is shipped with Extension Builder - you can view the docs by selecting "Help > Help Contents" from the menu bar, then selecting "Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder > References > CS Communication Toolkit API Reference".
There are also some sample extensions that show you how to use the CS Communication Toolkit (codenamed Vulcan). You can import these by selecting "File > Import ... > Adobe Creative Suite Extension Builder > Remote Creative Suite SDK Examples". The most relevant sample is probably "Vulcan - ApplicationControl" which shows how to see the installed/running applications, and how to launch an application.
I personally would recommend using the CS Communication Toolkit from AS3 rather than trying to use BridgeTalk. I've had issues using BridgeTalk from an extension in the past.
    Hope that helps,

  • How do i open CR2 files with photoshop cs5?

Adobe camera raw will not open CR2 files in photoshop. How do i open these files? i have tried updating camera raw witht he last 8 updates but it still will not open. Camera raw shows a pop up box saying the file is not supported.

    mushybutt wrote:
I believe the proglem is with in Adobe CS5 and something just isnt working correctly and that maybe why it cant read or do anything with RAW files. I also noticed that Adobe's site says that it supports canon 70D CS2 files. my camera files are CR2, im not sure if maybe that might have something to do with my issue.
Nothing to do with anything being faulty in CS5.
The reason has already been given by tpolakov above: The 70D was first supported in Camera Raw 8.2 which is only compatible with CS6 and later. CS5 is not compatible with Camera Raw 8.2 so CS5 cannot read Raw files from the 70D. That's all there is to it.
    mushybutt wrote:
Thanks Tomsm13, I actually tried to convert the files to DNG but that doesnt work either. I used the latest compatable Adobe DNG converter and i get a message that it can not find any camera RAW files to convert.
You select a folder containing CR2 files, not a CR2 file.
See Camera Raw: How to use Adobe DNG Converter - YouTube

  • How to save pdf in photoshop cs5 with cropmarks / bleed?

I have created crop makrs and a 10mm bleed using FILE > PRINT > OUTPUT > PRINTING MARKS / FUNCTIONS
What is the correct way of saving my file as pdf with the crop marks and bleed?
    Thanks for your help...

You don't open image files in InDesign, you PLACE them in an existing InDesign document..
Create a new InDesign doc, FILE- NEW-Document
Set your Page Size to the same size as your image.
Make sure you have the size of your bleed entered in the Bleed file. If you don't see Bleeds & Slugs, click More Options.
You can use inches, Picas & Point, mm etc. this example of p9 equals .125 inch  (1/8 inch)
In the InDesign doc you should see 3 colored lines:
Black line = final size of document after trimming.
Red line = show bleed area outside the document edge
Magenta line =  margin inside page
Go to the FILE menu, PLACE and browse to your image and place into the ID doc.
Use the black arrow to move the edge of the image to the red bleed line.
Go to FILE menu, EXPORT and choose PDF - Print
Make sure you have CROP MARKS and USE DOCUMENT BLEED SETTINGS selected.
Open your PDF in Acrobat to view the image with your crop marks and bleed.
I'm assuming you are using a high resolution images for printing? 300 PPI (pixel per inch) is a general standard for items that will be viewed close up (no more than arm's length away
What exactly are you designing? If you are designing items with a lot of text you should be using InDesign.
Photoshop is mainly for image manipulation, while you can add text in Photoshop it is limited, and unless you know what you are doing may results in substandard products for printing purposes.

  • Edit multiple password-protected PDFs using Photoshop CS5 Javascript scripting.

    Good Evening,
Situation: I have a huge stack of PDF files and I'm using Photoshop CS5 to slice out previews and other things automatically, using a self-built javascript. Some (100+) of these PDFs are password-protected. I have the password to these files.
Problem: Every time the script tries to open one of the protected PDFs it will open a popup, stop the whole process and wait for the user to input the password.
Question: Is there a way to add the password to the open command of the app.open(...) function? Or more simply put, can this be fully automated?
What I looked at so far: "PDFOpenOptions", "app.open(...)", the javascript reference("photoshop_cs5_javascript_ref.pdf") in general.
    Basic Example code:
    var f = new File("path to some password protected PDF");
var d = app.open(f); //this will trigger the password popup
    doSomethingWithMyDocument(d);
    d.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have access to Photoshop CS6 as well, if that somehow solves the problem.
If I'm looking at a dead-end, feel free to tell me too.

It is possible to do that via Scripting.
If you are unable to create such a Script maybe you should look up the chapter »Creating data-driven graphics« in the documentation.
