Open access pdf disabled the hyperlinks :(

I created an interactive pdf that I wanted to create a url for so I uploaded it to acrobat.com to be an open access document with a link. However, in that link when it opens up on the browser, the hyperlinks and interactivity of the document do not work at all
Help please.

Hi bbinfo,
How did you create an interactive PDF first. Also, let me know your complete workflow step by step.
I would to check the document at my end, share that with me using the private messaging option, if that is OK.  How Do I Send  Private Message

  • When I try to open a PDF file the reader flashes on the screen then closes

When I try to open a PDF file the reader flashes on the screen then closes. I have to open the reader, then search for the pdf file through the reader. I'm using Adobe Reader 11.0.5 with windows 7 service pack 1 home premium. Is there any way I can just click on a PDF file and the reader automaticaly opens? I purchased the upgrade so I can convert PDF to Word but it didnt make any difference.

    Some things to try...
    Update Reader to version 11.0.06
Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
It could even be a malware issue; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

How do I open several PDFs in the same Reader window using tabs for each document?  I'm using Reader 11.0.03 and Windows 7.

That would be a nice feature!  Suggest it at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform - hopefully it will make it into Reader XII.

Something is definitely wrong with your install of Reader.
A PDF consists of only the number of pages it was created with.  Reader can and will only open those pages... IF it's installed and working properly.
Opening multiple blank pages from a document which contains none is a clear sign that the software isn't functioning. It's like putting a movie into a DVD player, and your TV starts a picture slide show of your last Summer's vacation. Not possible unless there's something seriously wrong.
    Uninstall Reader 9.
Use either Adobe's clean uninstaller or Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2. exe) to remove all Reader installer files from your system.
Reinstall Reader 9 from a new download (do not use the old one if you still have it on your system)

I have a user on Adobe Reader X.  whenever they open a .pdf file, the form fields do not auto-fill until you click in the box.  Is there a setting that can be changed to make the form open properly?

Sounds like the form fields were filled in on a Mac using Mac Preview. This cannot be fixed in Reader only Acrobat. Ask the person who filled in the form to redo their work in Adobe Reader.

    RR,
One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).
Here is a website where you can see whether it can rescue the file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,
    http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
    and another similar website,
    http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error-occurred-pdf2dtp-fi le-recovery/
As far as I remember, the former is for Win and the latter for Mac.
Here are a few pages about struggling with it yourself:
    http://daxxter.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/how-to-recover-a-corrupted-illustrator-ai-file/
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-illustrator-files.html
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/500/cpsid_50032.html
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/500/cpsid_50031.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/enable-content-recovery-mode-illustrator.html
Failing a full recovery, hopefully you have one or more earlier versions and/or bits of artwork saved before it happened.

  • Acrobat does not opens a PDF in the Browser at all times

    Required:
I need to ensure Acrobat opens a PDF in the Browser at all times, and not have Reader hijack the task.  All fixes for this I have found won’t work as they render Reader inoperable. i.e. uninstalling Reader or denying users to the Reader executable AcroRd32.exe
    Situation:
I have a problem with Adobe Reader and Acrobat Standard 8.2.5.  This is on a Terminal Server 2003 with 10 users.  They require both Acrobat and Reader be accessible due to specific 3rd party applications related to banking software.
    Problem:
They must open PDFs in a browser with Acrobat so they may fill the forms and save them.  Acrobat doesn’t consistently open the file; Reader hijacks the file when clicked to open and their ability to fill the forms is hindered.
    -    Open PDF in browser is checked in Acrobat
    -    Open PDF in browser is NOT checked in Reader
Sometimes when the Acrobat desktop icon is clicked, Reader opens instead.  Having Acrobat open in the background does help but is not consistent.
Also uninstalling Reader from the Server is unacceptable due to a 3rd party banking application for loans.  This application is hard coded to open AcroRd32.exe within the application for opening PDFs.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Ken

Try this, when I right clicked on the document to rotate the image a noticed a tool bar appeared at the bottom of the page with the save icon. It then disappeared, but by hovering at near the bottom of the document the tool bar appears and I can save the PDF.

    Hello Kathie,
Sorry for the inconvenience that has caused to you.
Please let me know if you have tried converting any other PDF to word with Reader.
Alos, please sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/" using your Adobe ID credentials. Click on 'ExportPDF' tab and upload the PDF that you want to convert to Word.
Let me know if this converts fine.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Using OpenDoc to open a pdf in the exisiting window

I figured out the syntax for opening a document in the same folder with no path.  But it opens it in a new window.  I would really like it to open in the same window as my original document, just like it would if I were to use the "open a file" command and select "existing window".  The reason I'm not just doing that is because I have to create ALOT of PDFs with links to each other and when I copy a control between PDFs it doesn't bring over the actions for the control except for javascript.  If I use javascript, its easy for me to just change one or two names of the file references rather than having to renavigate to all the files I'm linking when I start a new document.
This is my basic code to open a file:
    app.openDoc("TemplateTest1.pdf", this);
Its placed on the mouse up event of a control. I thought the "this" part meant this window but I guess it doesn't since it opens the file in a new window.
The final version of this document will be accessed via internet explorer on a corporate intranet.  when I open the document in internet explorer and execute the openDoc script, it opens the acrobat application as a new window while the original document remains in internet explorer.  I want the new document, which is saved in the same location as the original, to replace the original document in internet explorer.  I have done this before via bookmarks by assigning an open file action and specifying it to open in the existing window.  I just dont know how to specify that instruction in javascipt.
Or if for some reason this isn't possible.  Can I use the javascript to redirect internet explorer's address to the new document?  If I do it this way I will need to get the address and then replace the exisiting file name with the new file name I want to link to.  Is this possible.  I'm interested in learning about both methods.
Sorry If Its rediculously basic.  I am just learning javascript specifically for this PDF project.

Everything I've read about hostContainer both in the JS documentation and through examples other users have provided indicate that it is mainly used when a PDF is embedded in some other document such as an html web page and you need to communicate between the pdf and the hostContainer the examples i've seen seem to indicate that the hostContainer is the web page itself and not the browser.  My document isn't embedded in a web page, it is simply open using the browser's pdf plug-in.  I've seen another example where someone tried to user app.LaunchURL("www.mywebpage.com/mydocument.pdf").  I tried this aslo but I get the error "Security settings prevent access to this property or method."  All I want is for a new pdf document to be loaded in the same window when the user clicks a button.  I've done this with no problem before when I used the "open a file" action on bookmarks created for each of the PDFs.  And when I set the action I specified "open in existing window".  The actions worked correctly whether the pdf was open in Acrobat Professional, Acrobat Reader, or a Web Browser.   Isn't there an acrobat javascript that does the same thing?  When I did this before I used bookmarks and then used batch processing to add the bookmarks to all of the PDFs so I wouldnt have to recreate them in each one.  This time I want to use buttons to have more screen real-estate and to better control the visual appearance.  I know I could still use the "open a file" action wth a button, I was just hoping there was a javascript alternative so I could have more control over it.

Raghu: I would request to refer to our  Support portal and user forums for more information on this.
Raghu: However, you can try reinstalling the product and check if it works.
Raghu: I can understand your concern, however, the product is out of our support.
stephanie: According to adobe forums that doesn't work.
    This is completely ludicrous.

    Your posting somewhat confused me.
It sounds like you have two versions of Acrobat installed. You say you own Acrobat 9. You also say you installed a version of Acrobat  CS 5.5. Does that mean you installed the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 on your computer as well? There is no such product as  Acrobat CS5.5. CS5.5 would install Acrobat X.
However, if you had installed CS55 you may have to open at least one of the other CS5.5 applications before you can open Acrobat X. That's because Acrobat X is not well integrated into the Creative Suite.
    Am I understanding your situation?

  • Opening a PDF from the Web

hi i am trying to open acrobat reader with a document by specifiying it in the command line, such as
acrord32 http://www.domain.com/file.pdf.... however this does not seem to work??
Acrobat says "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume syntax is incorrect."
    however if i try

Does anyone know how to open a web pdf through the command line?

See if you can delete any Adobe PDF plugins from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/. Then quit and re-open your web browser and try again.
