Open an eml file

How can I open an eml file attachment in my email and read it / forward it to other Mac users?

Hi,

I have saved EML files in SharePoint Online App. I want to open the EML file directly in Outlook 2013. However the only option I have is to Save the EML file.
I hope for a simple solution. This will have to be setup for many users.
    Please advise.

  • Mail: opening an eml file by thunderbird takes too much time

We are storing emails as eml files in a network folder. When we then open those eml files it takes a lot of time, sometimes 20 seconds. This happens also if the file does not contain attachments. I have looked at those files with an editor. The files are quite short and simple. Nevertheless it takes a lot of tme.
Thunderbird starts quickly. But showing the mail body (sometimes only 2 lines) takes so much time.
    Any help or explanations?
    Best regards
    Guenter Merbeth

    I understand now.
I would store the EML files locally and compare loading time. Then it becomes a matter of finding where your bottleneck is: network configuration, link speed (Wifi? LAN?), protocols (Samba/CIFS? NFS?..), etc. (compression, encryption,..).
This is outside of the scope of Thunderbird support, but I am definitely interested in knowing how opening an EML file locally compares to opening the same on your network. If anything, it will at least rule out (or implicate) Thunderbird as the cause.

  • I can't open two eml files with Thunderbid

I want to open two .eml files with Thunderbid. When I try to do it, I can open the first, but when I try to open the second Thunderbird doesn't do it.

It sounds like the files that aren't working are likely corrupt or perhaps not properly designated as .eml files. When you say "Thunderbird doesn't do it" do you mean Thunderbird doesn't launch, or do you mean it tries to open the file and returns an error? The error could be helpful in the latter case, as could information about where the file came from. In the former case, FYI, when I drag attached .eml files (from e-mails forwarded as attachments) to my desktop, they are named "Inbox" (as opposed to Inbox.eml). I rename them to add the .eml and then I can open them with Thunderbird, but otherwise I will be prompted by Windows for what to do with them.

  • Apple Script For Opening External EML File With Apple Mail

    Hi folks,

I am working with Apple Script for implementing numerous function related to Mail App.

I am using the following Apple Script lines for opening the mails which are in Mail app for each modes.

View Mode : open theMsg

Reply View Mode : reply theMsg opening window yes

Reply All Mode : reply theMsg opening window yes reply to all yes

Forward Mode : forward theMsg opening window yes

I want to know how we can open external eml file in different view modes (View, Reply, Reply All and Forward) using Apple Script or Apple Event programmatically with a similar mechanism available through script in Mail App.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Nisar

I'm not sure what you're doing here, but this isn't anything I recognize as compilable applescript. what is this 'mode' thing you're talking about.
at any rate, if you have a loose emlx file sitting around somewhere you can simply open it in mail (use the 'open' command and the file specification for the emlx file) and work with it appropriately. if you're talking about an actual eml file (e.g. from Outlook Express) you'd have to GUI script Mail's 'import mailbox' command (the applescript handler for importing mail only works with Mail.app mailboxes)

  • How to open largest .eml files for Entourage through script

    Hi,
I have 150 MB .eml file , this file i want to open as view mode in Microsoft Entourage.please let me know, if any one have idea. I am working in snow leopard.

I want to open Avi files which are compressed via different codecs.
How i able to open those videos through JMF.You'd need a version of the codec that JMF can use...which basiclly means it needs to be written for JMF.
Actually i am trying for indeo video 5.0,4.0,3.0 because it is by default supported in windows xp and mac pc.
Please tell me if there is any codec which can open videos for me.
If any third party is also available then tell me.No telling. Check google.
Can i use directx. So that all those codecs which are supported in windows system can open.
Please tell me if any possibility is there.
Can i use windows\system32\ir50_32.dll i.e dll from intel for supporting indeo video 5.0 in windows.
which is residing at system32.You could write your own custom codec for those using JNI and whatever functions from the DLL you need, but there's no built-in way to do it.

  • Opening a .eml file

I am getting emails with a .eml file and have not been able to open. Any suggestions.
    Thanks

A file with a .eml extension is from a Windows Outlook export. I think you are going to have trouble opening that on a Mac. You can try it with Entourage, but you might want to have the original sender simply forward the message to you. I think they exported it and then sent the export.
Edit: interesting point from Mike. Make sure you know the sender, not that it will hurt your Mac, but still...!

  • Why does Print Preview of a .eml file recursively open the same .eml file? I can't print it.

Hello. I saved an email from my IMAP account locally to file as offlineemail.eml. When I try to open the .eml file later in Thunderbird, it opens up ok, no problem. When I do Print Preview just before sending it to my printer, two windows pop up. In the background is the first window, the Preview itself. However, it only shows "about:blank" in the Preview body. In the foreground, a window with Title: Opening offlineemail.eml. Body: You have chosen to open: offlineemail.eml which is: eml document (27.9 KB) from: /tmp. What should Thunderbird do with this file? [Radio button] Open with [dropdown] Thunderbird (default); [Radio button] Save file; [Checkbox unchecked] Do this automatically for files like this from now on. [Push buttons] Cancel Ok. The Ok button remains greyed out until I click one of the radio buttons. I click Open with Thunderbird, the Ok button is now active, and I click Ok. Here, the same email opens up just fine again in a separate Thunderbird window. I do a Print Preview, and this whole paragraph of steps is repeated. I never see the preview. Any ideas why this would be? My Thunderbird version: 31.3.0. My OS: linux openSUSE 13.1"Bottle". File manager: Thunar 1.6.3 for the XFCE desktop.

Here's the Audit Space Usage for the original 5 MB file. It shows the images taking up the majority of the space, as expected:

  • Firefox wont open EML files for me any more.

I have saved some files on a flash-drive that I have opened in the past that will no longer open. They have the Firefox logo next to them but they wont open. They say they are EML files but now I can't open them.

Opening a .eml file depends on the email software that you use. For instance, Internet Explorer can now open .eml files since they are basically formatted in the same manner as .mht files are. Simply change the filename extension from .eml to .mht, and the file can now be opened on Internet Explorer. If you have Outlook, simply click the file and it should open easily in the program. If Outlook is not your default application that opens .eml files, simply right-click on the file, choose Open With and then select Outlook Express. Using Windows Mail, simply drag and drop the .eml file into one of your folders and click on it to open it.or u can use a FIREFOX EML file viewer software .

  • Attached .EML files

Would like to see a way that we can open .eml files so that I can retrieve my Voicemails sent to my exchange account. When I receive voicemails from my office they come to my email account as a attachment. The problem is the email comes to me with a email attached and my WAV file resides inside the attached email. I noticed that there has been some mention of this in other posts but I do not think it has been addressed as a real issue. I know that I also have emails attached and fowarded to me now and then.
This is something that I hope is on the "fix" list soon since I cannot be the only one with this issue.
Otherwise I really like this phone.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Palm keeps complaining about their phone sales being down.  Here is a idea for you to boost sales.  Fix your phones so they have the basic functionality so people want to use them.  Not being able to open a .eml file within the email application is a rediculously embarasing problem that has been around for almost a year now.  I challange the directors of Palm to start using a Palm Pre themselves for business email use.  With an EAS account forward an email from Pre 1 to Pre 2 and try to open.  You will not be able to because the forwarded email is attached as a .eml file.  I have personally had to migrate users off of the Palm Pre to a differenet phone because of lack of this basic email functionallity with Microsoft Exchange.
Palm, your best advertising is word of mouth.  I dont know anyone who would recommend this phone to users that will use the phone for business.  You just cannot trust this phone with your important emails or appointments with the current .eml bug, and  with the other bugs (some .wav files dont open, calender bug).
And yes, I am aware you know about these issues because I wasted an hour of my time to call in to Palm support and had the tier 2 representative replicate these problems while I was on the phone.  Your reps are either clueless or lie about not knowing about these problems.  After I proved out the bugs I was assured the techs would be looking at a fix and I would recieve a call when a fix was out.  That was October of last year.
With that said it is probably a decent phone if you are just using it for recreation (games, free email yahoo gmail etc, and facebook).

  • How do i display remote images in an email saved as a .eml file?

I archive my messages in a CMS in the .eml format. Most of these messages have links to remote images. When I open the .eml file, the images do not display, and I cannot find an option to display them.

  • Windows 7 Pro/Outlook 2007/SharePoint Foundation 2007? .eml files open as attachment in outlook

    Here is the issue.
I am running Windows 7 Pro with Office 2007.
I attempt to open an email from sharepoint.  The email becomes an attachment to a new mail message from outlook 2007.
When I attempt to open the same email from command line, it opens correctly.
I have checked registry entries, and they all seem to point to the right places.
I have set Outlook as the default E-mail program, as well as assigned the .eml files as defaulting to outlook.
I have ran the microsoft fix, and manually implemented the fix after it didn't work, both to no avail.
I need a solution for this, I can't believe Microsoft would have such an issue with compatibility with their own programs.
If anyone has some insight, it is welcomed with open arms.
I am unsure which forum to place this topic, since it covers so many microsoft issues/programs, so if this is located in the wrong place, please move it for me.
I thank you all in advance for your assistance in this matter.

  • Mail 6.2 won't open .eml files

    Hi
I'm running Mail.app ver 6.2 in OSX 10.8.2 with all the latest upgrades (23 Nov 2012). I'm having an issue opening .eml files/attachments in my mail.app (in OSX, not iOS).
It's my understanding that mail.app has full support for .eml files and I used to open them with no problems before the upgrade to Mountain Lion. When I click to open the files, it displays the envelope animation like if it's going to open it but the window never appears. The only option is to use preview, and that works perfectly, buf if the .eml file has attachments "inside" of it, I can't open them using preview.
    There is no error log.
    What might be the problem?
I've done permitions repair a couple of times.
The only addons I have installed on mail.app 6.2 are attachment tammer and mailhub.

    This discussion suggests a solution.

  • When using the "Open With" functionality to download an eml file, firefox is appending a *.txt extension to the filename. How can I prevent this from happening?

If I save the file instead of open it, the file saves correctly (ie: without the added txt extension). If I attempt to open instead of save, the txt is added, resulting in the file opening as a text file instead of an eml file.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
