Open application without mouse/trackpad

Hi guys,
I always wondered how can you open a file (document, movie, application) without using the mouse to double click it ...
pressing enter renames the file, and I tried Cmd Enter, Alt Enter, and nothing, is there a special trick for this? Just to avoid going move my hand to the mouse/trackpad.
I know the preview (Space bar) but I want to really open the document/file in it's default application.
Thanks

so easy
I knew it had to be easy... didn't know witch one

how can i control the mac without a mouse or trackpad? is ther a wired method to make the ipad control the mac?

You can do it manually, but it is much simpler if you use a tool such as Back To My Mac, LogMeIn, or something like that. Those programs enable you to connect to your computer through your router without you having to adjust the router settings manually.

  • IPhone opens applications without me touching anything...help

My iphone is less than 2 months old and has some serious issues
Mainly, when I switch it on it takes on a life of it's own
It is as though an invisible set of fingers is punching my screen as various applications open/close randomly...it even rings people on it's own, sends blank sms messages, opens the calendar and flicks through it
    Any clues?

    Sounds like it needs service.

  • Why does the mouse cursor move to away from the currrent application without the mouse being moved

the mouse cursor moves away from the current application without the mouse having been moved - this started with the new version - re-installing Firefox makes the problem go away for a short period - re-installing is not a solution
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == a few days after installing 3.6.3

    Hello Jim.
It's probably one of three things:
    #your mouse is getting old (this behavior is common in old optical mouses);
    #you have software that is making your mouse cursor behave unexpectedly (I know of an option in Windows that will automatically move your mouse to windows buttons...);
#or you may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

  • Vim - copy to clipboard without mouse and paste to other application

I can copy & paste in editor vim.. andI know copying with mouse.. how to set vim to select all lines and copy them without mouse and paste it to other application like leafpad with Ctrl+V or with "paste" in options? it is possible in vim?

Parecelite etc. isn't needed for that...
You have the choise of using either primary selection or clipboard...
For primary selection, you use vim's visual mode to mark text(not yank it, just mark), and then in whatever other app paste primary selection with 'shift+ins'.
For clipboard, you need e.g. the gvim package from the arch repo's, which includes a vim with clipboard support enabled, and then you mark the text and then copy it to clipboard with '"+y', that is 'double-quote+plus+y' and then paste in whatever clipboard capable app with ussually ctrl+v.
Finally, you can configure vim to always yank to clipboard(in addition to primary-selection), so you can mark text, press y, and then ctrl+v in whatever clipboard capable app afterwards; to do that add 'set clipboard=unnamedplus' to your .vimrc. (note, vim clears whatever it self has placed in the clipboard whenever quiting vim, so keep vim open after you have copied from it and untill after you've pasted from it...)
Edit: Beaten by kniren for some of the info
Edit2: Using Primary selection with x11 apps also needs either vim from the gvim package, or a custom built one...

Open Universal Access preferences. Under either the Keyboard or Mouse tab should be a checkbox option to prevent accidental input when typing. If you don't find it there then check in the Trackpad preferences.
or find the apple instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3608

    A few hours later…
    I just found Mouse Wizard:
    http://www.samuco.net/web/node/23
I will say that when I downloaded the demo the center button didn't work, but a very quick & courteous reply from their tech support suggested:
In terminal, can you try entering this command: "rm ~/Library/Preferences/.MagicalWizard.plist". Then, relaunch MouseWizard.
I did this & now I have center button nirvana! (Mouse Wizard also supports a version of the squeeze button (they call it fourth button) and squeeze/bloat gestures.)
So far so good--it's made me much happier with my magic mouse.

  • Could any one help how to open the application without port number in servl

Could any one help how to open the application without port number in servlets or jsp?

Well, configure the application server/web container to listen to the default http port of 80, rather than 8080.
I couldnt get where to specify 80 instead of 8080 so that it opens without numbers

You have Acrobat Pro on your system. It will try to open PDFs, and of course it will fail. You must uninstall it. Then, you will need a PDF reader. So install Adobe Reader. That seems quite simple, but perhaps something is wrong. If anything goes wrong with these two steps (1) uninstall Acrobat Pro (2) install Adobe Reader, then please let us know the details.

Sorry you've decided this is a rant but the objective observer would know that  all I want is a solution to at least the 3 issues mentioned. I spent the better part of 2 nights with techs that had me doing all the standard refresh items, i.e. setting the PRAM... and as time goes on my frustration grows. Last week spent days trying to find the driver software Maverick now needs and Apple is supposed to have it and doesn't. So at what point does this become a rant? I've done things the right way had mucho patience thus far and as a kicker, Apple won't let me download Mountain Lion to reinstall and rid my self of Maverick. Tell me, would you complain?

  • My mouse/trackpad are completely out of control. The cursor/arrow is flying all over the screen and closing/opening windows. What is the solution to this? Downloading windows for Mac?

So far I'm dissapointed with Mac O/S .....so many areas lack common sense, require unnessary extra clicks and is not as customizable as Windows. It's like Apple thinks you are a child and not entitled to choose for yourself so that they can control your info for you.
The mouse/trackpad problem is a major issue that Apple should be proactive in offering a solution for. If anyone has a solution to this I'd be greateful to hear it.
    Thanks,

Is this the first time you're using a Mac?
If so the learning curve is somewhat steep - but, if you put in the time and use this knowledge base whenever you run into issues you'll be up to speed soon enough.
With regards to the trackpad/mouse, you can adjust the sensitivity by:
    1. Click the Apple Logo on the top left hard corner of your screen
    2. Click System Preferences
    3. Click Trackpad
Adjust the tracking speed to your specifications.
Also familiarise yourself with the gestures (activate the ones you can remember)
To go back to the menue by clicking Show All
    4. Click Mouse
Adjust your mouse settings to your specification.
    And why use mac?
    It just works...
    (most of the time ;p)

  • I seemed to have locked my keyboard; now there is a ghost writer on my keyboard; it goes to applications on its' own; opens itunes without me touchin the keyboard.  There is a lock symbol in the upper right hand corner with a arrow circling it.

So, it appears that I no longer have control over my keyboard.  With this symbol in the upper right hand corner, I don't have control over my keyboard.
Does anyone know how to undo this lock?
    Thanks,
    Elayne

    Hello,
    Great!
The problem has been solved. Did not have the install disk, but figured the problem out through single user mode. The options listed in the article were not working, so tried this...
sh /et/rc (to boot the system)
    open /applications/utilities
Was trying to open Terminal, but this opened root user mode (accidental victory). From there I was able to simply use Disk Utility to repair my permissions.
    Thanks!

  • IWork Apps Closing When Switching Between Open Applications

I am having an issue with iWork applications shutting down when I am switching between open applications. For example, if I have Pages running, but no document open, and I use the command/tab command to switch to another program, then try to go back to Pages, I find that it has closed and must be reopened. The same thing happens with Keynote. If however, the program is open and a document or presentation is open, I can switch without the program closing. Is anyone else experiencing this? I can't find any other references to it. I am running a Macbook Pro with the latest version of Yosemite and the newest versions of Pages and Keynote.
    Thanks.

Yokay, so no one else is experiencing this issue. Pretend you were, do any possible solutions come to mind?
