Open attachements in PDF from mobile

Hello,
I created a PDF with some attached files and links (in fact annotations) to these files:
When I open the PDF from my computer with Acrobat Reader I'm able to open all files either by clicking directly on the "Attachments" column or clicking to the links (annotations).
But when I try to do the same on mobile (iOS, Android or WP) via the Acrobat Reader application, it doesn't work:
I can't access to the attachments column
When I click to the links (annotations), nothing happen
Thank you in advance for your help.
PS: This question was posted on stackoverflow too https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27859349/open-attachements-in-pdf-from-mobile
Gerald.

Hi Gerald,
Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) support PDF and non-PDF attachments.
If a PDF document contains attachments, Adobe Reader for iOS shows the attachments icon in the bottom bar.
When you tap the icon, Adobe Reader will display the attachments.
You can tap an individual file to view it in Adobe Reader.
There are three different hyperlink actions that the desktop version of Adobe Reader supports.
Go to a page view (within the same document)
Open a web page
Open a file
Adobe Reader mobile products support the first two but does not support opening a PDF file or any other types.
Please let us know if  you have additional questions.  Thank you.

  • How to attach a PDF from Ibooks to a current email - help  !

    Hello,
I am using an Ipad mini and can't figure something out.
I have a long email and would like to attach a PDF file to my latest response. The PDF is currently in my IBooks.
I know I can send the PDF in a new/clean email, but the point is that I would like to be able to attach it to the current email. I can insert a photo or a video but there doesnt seem to be a way to insert a PDF file.
I tried to open the PDF up in a new mail, cut it, then paste it into the existing email, but even that doesn't seem to work - I checked my sent box and there was no attachment on the mail when I tried it that way. The only way around the problem I can think of is to create the new email with the attachment, save it as a draft, go back into the original mail, copy it, go back into drafts and paste the existing text around my attachment - but this is a ridiculous and time-consuming process and not really practical.
Can anyone kindly advise? I think there will be an easy solution, but I just dont see it yet -
    Thanks, M

There is no way to do what you are trying to do. You have to send the email and the pdf from iBooks.
Open the PDF in iBooks then tap the arrow icon in the upper left corner and select Email. Copy and paste the entire lengthy email into this new email in iBooks and send it that way, its clunky, but it is really the only way to accomplish what you want to accomplish using an iPad and the mail app. You can cancel the email in the iBooks app and it will allow you to save the draft and you can go back to using the mail app to send it, or just send the email from iBooks.
The mail app will only allow you to insert photos and videos as attachments.

  • Opening a blank PDF on mobile devices..

Using an existing and working PDF from a large company and filing in the user fields as needed. Fields are filled in, sent out thru email.. Mobile users open it up and receive a blank PDF, yet desktop users receive a filled in PDF. Any ideas??

Would it be possible to share that PDF form with us? If not, do you know if the form makes use of any javascript code?

  • What is the best process for creating, opening, editing, etc PDFs from within Visual Studio 2008?

I am the project manager on a web-based application that will need to:
Create, open, edit, save, etc PDFs from within a Visual Studio 2008 web application (Visual Basic).
Populate PDFs from SQL server 2010 database.
Allow users to use PDF editing tools from within the website.
BTW, the application is being written in Visual Basic.
Will the SDK allow us to do this? What licenses do we need to purchase?
Are there 3rd party plugins that make doing these things much faster and simpler?
    Any input is GREATLY appreciated!!!
    Sincerely,
    Mike

I don't think Acrobat, or the Acrobat SDK can help you. Acrobat cannot be run on a server.

  • Opening an external PDF from a SWF embedded in a PDF. Is it possible?

I have created a PDF that contains an embedded SWF file that was created in InDesign. Is there a way to open a different pdf when the user clicks on a link? The "Open File" button command works in an interactive PDF, but not in a SWF file embedded in a PDF. Is there a work around, or a better way to do this?

Thanks for the response, this has been one of my fears in using flash. The reason we are doing it is that firstly, it allows for using multistate objects, and secondly, it causes the entire file to be preloaded at the opening of the file, making it run much more smoothly. In a file with lots of objects being turned on and off with buttons, an interactive Pdf tends to be very slow and buggy. I'm hoping I haven't hit a dead end in this and am open to any suggestions on how to work around the issues.

  • Opening LiveCycle generated pdf on mobile devices

We have created numerous documents in LiveCycle ES3 so that the forms can be filled in and saved as a PDF, and so that some sections of the form can expand to accept large text blocks when needed.  The forms work perfectly when opened on a desktop version of Adobe Reader.  They don't open at all when users are attempting to view on a mobile device (Android, I Phone, I pad, etc).  The devices have the most current version of Adobe Reader installed, but still get an error message.
Is there any way to save the forms so that they can be read from a mobile device with Adobe Reader?  If not, are there any third party apps that will open the forms?  They don't need to be able to fill in.  The mobile users will only be opening the form and reading it.

Forms designed in LiveCycle Designer ES3 are XFA based forms. They cannot be opened on mobile devices.
LiveCycle ES4 introduced Mobile Forms module which can render the existing XFA form as HTML5. More info here : http://helpx.adobe.com/livecycle/topics/mobile-forms-dev.html

  • How do I open single-page PDFs from Mail?

If I receive an email containing a one-page PDF, Mail shows it as an image. I want to see it as a PDF so I can open it in another app.
    Multiple-page PDFs are fine.
This problem also exists when sending one-page PDF files from the iPad - they arrive as images.

Single page pdf files always appear as already open in the mail app.
I just created a single page PDF and emailed it to myself and this is what I get when I do what I suggebd that you do. This is how you do it. Why it is working for you I cannot explain.
If you haven't done so already, the next thing that I would try is to close the mail app completely and reboot your iPad.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Mail app and then swipe "up" on the app thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • How to open an online pdf from command-line

    Hi,
I'm trying to get my application to open a pdf file from an url like http://xxxx.dk/xxx.aspx?CID=xxx
it work from inside adobe reader so the pdf file is a functionel file, but when i try to open it from command line like: AcroRd32.exe /n /A "pagemode=none" "http://xxxx.dk/xxx.aspx?CID=xxx" i keep getting an error telling me "There was an error opening this document. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"
does anyone have an idea of what i need to do? i could also make a public test if someone needs to see the issue "live"

it works with the browser, so no problems there.. i just wanted the pdf file to open in adobe reader instead of browser window, as it opens from a windows application.. but perhaps i need to look more into merging a embedded pdf viewer in the application instead..

  • Huge memory leak when closing PDF from Hyperlink

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with Adobe Reader 11.0.10 on Windows 7 64bit:
    1. I have a list of hyperlinks in an Access Table to certain PDF files on a local network folder.
    2. Clicking the hyperlink opens the corresponding PDF.
The PDF file opens just fine, and renders normally. The issue is when I attempt to close the PDF. This results in an instant Memory leak that will grow to 4GB in under 10 seconds. System crashes completely. I can reproduce the crash in Safe Mode as well. I am able to open/close the PDF from its source location normally without incident. Clean Uninstall/Reinstall produces the same results.
Downgrade to Adobe 10 fixes the problem completely. I can reproduce the problem on all computers on my network (all running windows 7 32bit or 64bit) by upgrading to Reader 11.0.10.
I prefer to keep my software updated to prevent vulnerabilities, so any help would be appreciated.

That is very strange because it is a 32-bit program and cannot (according to popular wisdom) grow over 2 GB. Also, if it were to reach 2 GB it would simply crash, not break the system.
Do you have a screen shot showing the 4 GB? There might be clues there what is happening.

  • Reader 9 and 9.1 unable to open a specific .pdf - either in reader or browser

    My "crime" was :
I had Reader 9 installed, then opened a particular .pdf from a site in my I.E.8 browser - it opened fine (and I saved the document to my harddrive) - then to get to the root of the site while keeping the .pdf open I used "New Window" from I.E. menu which should just open the document one more time in a new Window (and allow me to the modify address in browser address field to get to the site root) - document opened but I.E.8 with Reader 9 froze, then I took the address and opened the document in FireFox , that made Firefox freeze also .
I then updated Reader 9 to 9.1 and searched for updates - to no avail - still same problem.   Tried to open the document , after re-boots , both in browser and by double-clicking the already saved .pdf  of that particular document - nothing worked , browser and reader still froze .....
Then uninstalled , rebooted , and re-installed Reader 9.1 , still couldn't open that particular document without Reader freezeing , neither in browser address nor by opening document from harddrive.
I should be underlined that other documents opened fine in Reader - atleast when opening from harddrive.....
Then I uninstalled Reader 9.1 once more , rebooted , and installed Reader 8.12 (which I had saved to my harddrive for a "rainy day"), now everything works fine - no freezeing - no problem .
Problem seems centered around Reader 9 and 9.1. and problems initiated through a browser problem........
    My setup :
Win XP (non-english/US) SP3 , AVG antivirus , ZoneAlarm Firewall , Windows Defender active , other protection programs also but no active components from those.
I think that Adobe needs to investigate this a lot.............

    Hi Mike ! ,
    Thanks for your answer.
I'm a *very experienced* "computer-user" that has "shot a lot problems" in my time , so from the start my assessment were that your advice would not fix the problem.  However out of respect for you and you kindly trying to help + knowing the "havoc" it can cause when one try to restrict some programs ability to act freely then I decided to take my time trying your advice.......
    so :
I turned off Windows defender + made a re-boot (no other anti-spyware/anti malware has been allowed active components for the time being) , un-installed Reader 8.12 + made re-boot , installed Reader 9.1 + made a re-boot , closed down ZoneAlarm Firewall protection and tried to open the problem document and got a freeze once again - so that was a no go....
Un-installed Reader 9.1 again , turned on Windows Defender, re-boot , installed Reader 8.12 , and "Voila" : no problem opening the document.....
I did however (once-again) notice one thing while having Reader 9.1 installed : When I opened the problem document and got a Reader 9.1 freeze then I noticed in the Windows taskmanager that 2 occurences of Reader 9.1 apparently were running after I had opened the document once from my harddrive !
I earlier had it "written down" to things happening in Windows when trying to shutdown the Reader 9.1 program , but now I think otherwise.....
I this this is a problem caused by moronic poor foresight from the programmers side.
I spend a whole lot of time last night trying to "shoot the problem" and did among other things make a search for the name of the problem document both inside Windows registry , and inside all files on my C: Harddrive .   However programmers (and companies) now adays tend to try to maximize code-protection and anti-user-tamper-ability of the program rather than making programs user friendly + easy to troubleshoot....
I gather from all of it that the Adobe Reader 9.1 got two major problems :
1: The program has some sort of malfunction due to poor programming that makes it think that because I , once , opened the document in two  seperate INTERNET EXPLORERs then now every time I try to open that particular document then Reader 9.1 has to try to open two instances of the Reader 9.1 and document at once - even if I just try to open the document , one instance , through WINDOWS EXPLORER !
2: The un-installer cannot make a proper clean-up when un-installing Reader 9.1 so somewhere on the harddrive , or in Windows , is left some settings , of which one is the problem causing this particular document to be tried to be opened as two Reader 9.1 instances when opening .
Ofcourse this is not easy to trouble shoot because of the modern way of thinking of programmers and companies.......
I spend a lot of time last night trying to squash out any leftover Reader 9.1 settings in registry and Windows by using techniques suggested in various forum threads but to no avail.  So I'm back to using the Reader 8.12 .
Personally I am *really tired* of being the un-paid trouble-shooter/trouble-locater - I'm probably not getting many "popularity votes" for uttering that - but hey ! : It's my life !
