What countries outlawed the shutter noise on a camera?
And wouldn’t BB need to police BB World for programs that would support illegal activity in the countries you mention?
“In case you skipped over reading your link, no where is BlackBerry mentioned. Why would BlackBerry be addressing gaping holes in the Android OS? There is no Android OS on BlackBerry10.”
OF COURSE the article doesn’t mention BB. The point is that while people become more trusting with their devices and are told to “download the app” they tend to not read what they are signing up for. Despite your lack of vision in reference of something that could be phony, malicious programs exist and mobiles are ever increasing as targets.
“Finally, if you want bicker, nitpick and continue off-topic, please create your own thread elsewhere. This is thread is for Feature Requests. I responded to the user with alternatives. You responded with opinion, snarky commentary and inuemndo. Offtopic to this thread.”
I wasn’t off topic. You quashed the users requests with 3rd party apps and gave your opinion on moving apps to an SD card. I was making a point that the need for 3rd party involvement would be unnecessary if the issue was addressed at the OS. As well as a reason to avoid a 3rd party if at all possible, furthermore I was explaining why downloading apps something is to be cautious of.

  • Many Third Party Apps crash when interacting with Finder

    Hi everyone,
I am having a bit of an issue with OS X Mavericks v10.9.4.
Lately, whenever I try to do any 'Finder interactions' (Open, Save, etc) with third-party apps like Google Chrome, Brackets, and Photoshop*, it instantly shuts the program down, showing me a Problem Report, which doesn't really help me out, because I can't really understand it.
*Replicating the error is easy on both Google Chrome and Brackets, but not on Photoshop.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Did latest iPhone update and now non of my third party apps work.  They open then close immediately.   I tried to restore but can't as my iphone wont sync with itunes now and I will loose my apps.  Also my largest app "Sat Nav" has gone.  Help ??

    Hi All
I have run into problems with my iPhone 4.  I hadn't done an update for a while so decided to get my itunes and iphone 4 up to date.  I downloaded all the latest versions.  However now non of my third party apps work and my largest one has vanished.  I try and open them and they flash up and then close again. I thought the easiest thing to do was to restore so I tried to syn my apps onto itunes so I wouldn't loose them.  However it won't let me sync the apps onto iTunes.  It ill allow me to syn the old version when I just started but since then I have bought a dozen other apps.  Can anyone help.  thanks

Well this won't work for me...
I had all of my apps and music stored in iTunes, I updated to the newest 9.2 iTunes and did a 4.0 update to my iPhone 3G all the while not noticing that EVERYTHING IN iTUNES was GONE. When I got done updating my iPhone it was late so i went to bed... Next day came back to sync everything and thats when I saw it was all gone...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
did what the link said and NOW I have all my 6K+ MUSIC back but not ONE APP. The App's are completely gone from when you nav. to the location the link says... There isn't a mobile sync folder there...
NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT... Very Frustrated and MAD. I don't want to redownload all my apps manually. TO many to do it that way.

  • Third Party Apps Not Opening on iPhone 5 using iOS 6.0.2

I have an iPhone 5 and am using iOS 6.0.2 and recently certain third party apps like Facebook, Instagram, Shazzam for instance, no longer open.  When I tap on the app, the app comes up on the screen for about a second, and then closes.  What's strange is that I've been using iOS 6.0.2 and have also been using the most updated versions of the apps without any issues.  The crashing started happening around last Friday.  Here's what I've tried to do to fix the problem so far but none of these options have worked:
    - I restarted my phone by holding down the home button and the lock button.
    - I turned my phone off and turned it on again.
    - I deleted the apps and reinstalled them and then restarted my phone.
    - I downloaded a random free app, opened it, and then tried opening the apps that kept crashing.
    - I restored my phone and synced it using the most recent back up I had, which was from earlier that day.
I did find a temporary solution, that allows the apps to open but I think it's because the apps are not the most recent versions.
    - I restored my phone and set it up as a new phone.  The phone then downloaded all of the apps again and re-synced everything.  The apps did open after that however, when I went to the app store, it said that I had 24 available updates.  I updated all of the apps to their most up to date versions and then noticed that they once again stopped opening and would crash almost immediately after launching them.
    - I then restored my phone again and set it up as a new phone and did not update the 24 apps and all but one of them work.  The only app that I've noticed that still doesn't work is the Blackboard Eats app.  It still crashes almost immediately after launching it.
I took my phone to the Genius Bar this weekend (which is where I was told to restore the phone and set it up as a new phone).  I'm thinking that the issue is purely a software issue, but is there any chance that it could be a hardware issue?
I suppose I could just not update the apps, but I'm hoping there's a better solution than that.  What's weird is that the phone was working with iOS 6.0.2 and all of the most up to date versions of the apps less than a week ago and it seems that somehow, overnight, they stopped working.
Is anyone else running into this problem?  Has anyone found a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

The music player does not remember where the last session ended.  I have about 1000 songs on my iPhone.  I play the songs in the Shuffle mode - and it worked fine on iOS 5.x.  Ever since I updated to iOS 6.0, the shuffle seems to be seriously broken.  It repeats the song sequence of previous session in the exact order instead of starting from where the session ended.  God forbid if your last session was 10-25 songs long - you'll have to hit the Next song so many times to listen to something that you have not heard for a while.

  • Macbook pro crashes when opening third party apps

I have a Mid 2010 15" MBP With mavericks 10.9.3 on . I can't open spotify , chrome and most third party apps, they just sit and bounce on the dock then freeze.
I have completely wiped the hdd ( and replaced with SSD too ) and started from fresh and still having the same issue.
This is really started to bug me no as its pretty much rendering my MBP useless, It's been to the apple store genius bar and had the hardware tests ( pre ssd change ) and it passed them ( apart from the HDD drive test on its own which wouldn't load for them ) he suggested it could be the hdd or ribbon cable.
I have now upgraded the hdd to ssd and still the same issue.
He was able to boot to an operating system on their server and run third party apps that way.
Would the system still boot with a faulty ribbon cable ? This seems like a programing bug to me !
Cheers for any assistance in advanced !

    btodman93,
if you have an external disk enclosure or a SATA-to-USB or SATA-to-FireWire adapter, try booting from one of your disks externally using Startup Manager. If it runs well externally, but crashes internally, then that could point to the internal SATA cable being faulty.

  • Numbers quit unexpectedly while using the SFCompatibility plug-in? Do I need a third party app to open this xls?

Numbers quit unexpectedly while using the SFCompatibility plug-in.
Do I need a third party app? Can't find any info on web without that as only option.

Numbers is able to open xls and xlsx files, but you may find greater compatibility with some on the Excel features in one of the OpenOffice.org based applications, OpenOffice.org, Libre Office or Neo Office. All three are available on the web. One requires a recent donation for the most recent version.

  • Third party apps on my nokia c3-00 wont run

Hi everyone,i have a nokia c3-00 and sice i updated it to the version released on 2011, i have been having trouble with third party apps and games from the likes opera store, the apps will close soon after opening them but when you download from the nokia stire all work perfectly, when i download some themes are copyright protected so i cant apply, communities dont open and the email app too wont load.
Any help more so apps coz there are so many apps thatt are not in the nokia store, and free games and i need the mail app working.

The Mail app got updated on Nokia Series 40 based phones introduced 2012 or later, or to be more precise: The Mail app does not use a proxy based anymore, if there was an update in mid 2013. I am not aware of any such update for the Nokia C3-00. However, I am surprised the Nokia 200 got that update. Could you please double-check with your friend? Anyway, please, post your E-mail service provider(s) and we look into alternatives for you.

    come on nokia
I am an end-user like you. However, the Java engine in Nokia Series 40 phones was buggy to an extend which lead to the extinction of the Nokia Series 40 platform as a whole. Furthermore, because the Nokia C3-00 has a screen-orientation for which Nokia did not offer an emulator, and because that screen-oriantation came rather late, a lot of apps could be compatible but are not in reality. And many of that auto-detection webpages did not test but made a guess.
Anyway, the described symptoms do not sound normal. As I am an end-user, and because I do not have a Nokia C3-00 handy right now, I cannot test that theme. Did you go for the Software Recovery Tool via a Windows computer and a Micro-USB cable already? Any issues with that tool? Although the name suggest different, it has to work with a Nokia C3-00 as well. When you dial *#0010#, please, we need the first two rows.

  • Notes on third-party apps closing (not really crashing) after a restore

    Hello,
I'm adding the umpteenth message about a problem that, after happening basically with each single iPhone change since my old iPhone 3G onwards, I would say it's pretty common.
I have solved this problem recently with a third sequence of actions, so I'm posting my brief "history of restores" for the benefit of others. I hope I've tagged this post eloquently enough to make it easy to find.
So, in most (if not all) cases of previous restores I've bumped in the classic issue where after the restore process (which, BTW, involves always a few more sudden phone restarts than expected) only the "native" iPhone apps run normally. All the others appear for an instant and then close. They don't really crash because both in iOS 6 and iOS 7 you can see them as "running" by double-tapping the iPhone front button. Moreover, those with active notifications will actually notify the user regularly. Their UI, though, doesn't go past the splash screen.
The underlying cause, also considering it relates only to apps downloaded via App Store, is presumably some DRM-related information that gets messed up during the restore process.
My personal experience included previously two distinct solutions, and each of those only worked in that occasion, i.e. has been useless in the other cases:
The oldest, and still most documented solution, was just to download, via iPhone, a new app from the app store. After a restart, or maybe even without one, the new app and all the others started working.
The second, less mentioned online but still pretty widespread, was to sign out from the Apple Store on the iPhone, and then sign back in.
This time, where I got a replacement for my iPhone 4s because of the common problem of the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip getting "burned" or dislodged, I tried both the solutions above but they didn't work. In the process, I've found other possible solutions that didn't work:
Deauthorizing iTunes on the Mac and then reauthorizing it.
Getting a new app via iTunes and then syncing the iPhone
Sign out/in with iCloud on the iPhone.
I was therefore close to abandoning my 877 apps already configured and organized in folders in the previous backups, and willing to accept the burden of setting up the iPhone as a new phone.
Nevertheless, I still hoped that a "mixed approach" would work and, indeed, it worked.
Here is the sequence that worked in my latest case:
Restore the iPhone as a new phone
Open the App Store on the iPhone and get a new app, not among those already downloaded previously
Open that app and see that it works (actually, after an iPhone replacement steps 1-3 would make sense anyway to check that the phone works properly)
Start a restore from a previous backup
As soon as the apps start syncing again, open the first app already sync'd and check that it works. It should work, that's what happened to me, and so you can wait the whole time required to sync back all the apps.
My experience involves also a falsification of the statement that the problem resides on individual backups. This is false because I've used the same backup, at step 4, that I selected before going through 1-3 and that was not working initially. Moreover, after step 5, I've realized that the old backup I had used was too old because yesterday evening, while I had my iPhone still misbehaving with third-party apps, I took a few pictures that would have gone lost using the old backup. I have then started again from step 4 with a backup from the night after the pics, when I was fiddling to fix my issues. Also the newer backup, clearly done while the apps where "bad", ended with all my apps working again.
Basically, once the "physical" phone runs third-party apps, than any backup would work. The (missing) authorization portion that causes the misbehaviour might be related to the phone IMEI, or some other piece of information that is not included in backups.
Does anyone know a specific thread here or blog post on some website where there is a collection of cases like mine?
I'm not looking forward to seeing what voodoo variation will be required the next time I replace my iPhone...
    Hope this helps.
    All the best,
    Giovanni

  • Upgraded to iTunes 9.2 and iPhone 4 -- all of my third-party apps missing

I'm not exactly sure where the issue came from, but I somehow lost all of my apps as I upgraded to iTunes 9.2 and the iPhone 4 today. But I figured out what happened and *I have the solution*, which I'd like to share...
This occurred on June 24, 2010 (iPhone 4 launch day). The steps I took to upgrade to iTunes 9.2 and iPhone 4 were as such:
    1) I did a full sync and backup of my iPhone 3GS with iTunes 9.1.
    2) I upgraded iTunes 9.1.x.xx to iTunes 9.2.0.61 (the first version compatible with iPhone 4).
    3) I activated my new iPhone 4 and set it up based on my 3GS's back up data.
    4) When it was done setting up the iPhone 4, I noticed that all of the native apps and their app data were intact, but I was missing all of my third-party app store apps. Note that all the apps on my 3GS were obviously still intact.
    5) I noticed that I had zero apps in the iTunes library (at the top left under "Library"). Thus, with my 3GS plugged in, I right clicked on the iPhone in iTunes under "Devices" and selected "Transfer Purchases". This transferred all of the apps on my 3GS to the iTunes library.
    6) I plugged in my iPhone 4, and noticed that on the "Apps" tab under "Devices / iPhone name", the "Sync Apps" box was unchecked. So I checked it, and it gives you a scary message saying that all of the apps in the iTunes Library (which I had just populated in step 5) will overwrite the app data on your iPhone. I didn't have any app data on my iPhone 4, so I clicked "OK". All of the apps transferred from the iTunes Library to my iPhone 4 with all of the app data (game saves, etc) intact.
So that's my solution. I'm sure this must be happening to other people. My main piece of advice is: after upgrading to iTunes 9.2 and syncing your old phone for the last time, make sure you have apps in your App Library and "Sync Apps" is checked. If not, follow the steps above.
This same issue also happened to my friend, but he doesn't have his old iPhone 3GS to restore the app data from. If anyone has any suggestions as to how he can save his app data, please let me know. Thanks.
    Craig

  • Third party app writing to exercise ring

Can third party apps such as strava send their data on workouts to count towards the exercise ring? When I use strava on the watch for 25-30 mins all I get is 3-4 minutes of exercise registered, but when I use both strava and outdoor cycle i get the full time registered. Seems a little strange that I have to open and start both apps to get it to fill the exercise ring.

My one year old daughter hit a bunch of keys on my mac and it opened a preference window that had almost every preference on the whole computer listed. It was a list not icons. It looked like a lot more preferences than you find in the standard preferences window.  I cannot duplicate that window or find it now. It looked like the third party app "secrets" but I do not have that installed.
    What was that?

  • Can iPhone be infected with a virus while accessing websites through a third party app?

Hi there all, while accessing a newly found video website via a third party app on my iPhone 5, a window suddenly appears saying "your iPhone has been infected by a virus" and then gave a link to click "to prevent further damage from happening."   I chose to ignore the message since it's always been my understanding that iPhones are relatively impervious to viruses, however, since the pop up was now preventing me from doing anything else with the app, I just closed out the application entirely then rebooted the phone (just to be safe) and it's been working fine ever since.   I suspect this pop up was a fear based ploy intended to scare me into clicking the link being provided.  Am I correct, or is it actually possible for a virus to infect an iPhone just by going to an unscrupulous website without even downloading a file?   I haven't opened or done anything with this third party app ever since.   btw, my iPhone 5 is running iOS v8.1.2 and I've never had any issues with it in the past.  If anybody can answer it would surely be appreciated, many thanks!

Several years ago, my oldest brother was stupid enough to let himself be duped into being a major participant in a personal situation having a direct impact upon me.  Prior to the rift that developed which ultimately tore our relationship apart, I suggested we meet for lunch one day as all I was wanting was for him to be honest with me.   Feeling guilty and hating all confrontation, he just had to get out of there, and so instead of answering my question he jumped up and shouted "YOU'RE ALWAYS DOING THAT TO ME!!" right in front of everyone at the restaurant.  As a tension breaker I shouted right back, "didn't YOU ever learn the word ALWAYS should NEVER be said during an argument?"   And so yes, you're right, I should have qualified my question more by saying "relatively impervious" instead.   MY BAD!!    I still want to say "THANKS" anyway for providing such a quick and accurate answer!

  • Screen Resolution issue with most third party Apps

I have noticed that the screen resolution on my new iPhone 6 is not the same across the apps. For example when I open Facebook, the fonts seems to be like a little blurred and the background appears blurred. I am sure the third party apps need to work with the new iPhone to get it fixed. But just wanted to make sure that there is no need to do anything at this point. These apps are making the new iPhone screen resolution look sub-standard which is in no way Apple's fault. These Apps need to grow up faster and release updated versions before the users start cursing them for lagging behind lol..
On the other hand the Apps designed by Apple work perfectly fine!
The new iPhone 6 is beautiful! Thank you Apple! I love you.

I can't help with the problem, since I don't have a laptop or second monitor, but if you want to report this to Apple, send a bug report (or enhancement request) via its Bug Reporter system. Join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. You'll get a get a Bug ID number; thus, starting a dialog directly with engineering.
