Open attachments in OWA without saving first?

We're migrating to Exchange 2013 from 2010. In the past we were able to open attachments in OWA with with extension .pff, now we having to save first.
I've added that file extension to set-owamailboxpolicy, but not luck. What am I missing?

In addition to set-owamailboxpolicy I needed to run set-owavirtualdirectory and add the file type there as well.
Set-OwaVirtualDirectory -Identity "ServerName\owa (Default Web Site)" -AllowedFileTypes '.pff'

  • .PDF files will not open without saving first

    Since downloading Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on 5/20/14 .pdf files will not open without saving them first. I want .pdf files to open first BEFORE I save them (using Windows 7 and Firefox 30.0)

    Doesn't make much sense to me. Methinks details are needed.

  • Can't open pdf attachment without saving first

    Whenever someone emails me with a pdf attachment I cannot just open the attachment. It makes me save the document first, locate the file I just saved in my hard drive, and then I can open it. I started having this problem earlier this week. Before, I could just click on the attachment and it would open. I have the latest first of Adobe. What can I do so I can simply click on an attachment and it opens?

    What is your operating system & version?
    What is your email client & version?
    What is your Adobe Reader version?
    What exactly means "cannot"?

  • Need to synch calendar and contacts, but also open attachments with OWA

    I have a client with a Tour 9630.  They are using Exchange 2007 so we cannot use BES or BPS on that server (their only one).
    His biggest gripe using the redirector was that he could not open attachments.  After doing some digging, I found out that you cannot open attachments unless you are using the BIS service and connecting through OWA.
    SO...fought the authentication issues since they have a self-signed certificate on their Exchange box...turned off all the authentication and woila..OWA worked like a charm.
    NOW, though, his contacts and calendar no longer synch since he is just hitting the OWA mail!
    Is there a way to enable opening attachments while still synching calendar and contacts?
    I turned off redirector on the pc since OWA was working.
    If I turn the redirector back on to keep the synch going, will he get duplicates of mail?

    I've gotten this 4403 error before, and somehow resolved it without knowing how.
    THIS TIME, however, I  tried turning off the synch on my Documents-To-Go, and that fixed things.
    Checking on other discussions on the internet regarding this "Protocol Error: Too many files. (4403)", I'm seeing a pattern of Documents-To-Go when resident apps are listed, which seems to tentatively confirm my conclusion. The obvious implication here is that one or more versions of Docs-To-Go have a conflict with something in one or more versions of the Palm OS, and/or other 3rd party apps.
    I've be interested in whether this works in other users' experiences.

  • Unable to open html file in document library without saving first

    I've uploaded a bunch of HTML files from a DVD to a document library on our Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise server. When I try to open one of the html files it wants to save the file instead of opening it. If I choose to open the document library in Explorer
    I'm able to open the html files w/o issue.
    What's causing this? I know there is an option to set the file handing to permissive, but I'd rather not do that.

    Carl,
    See this link - http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/39020/how-do-i-prevent-sharepoint-from-asking-to-download-html-files-to-my-local-machi
    The allowed mime types are defined in theSPWebApplication.AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes
    Property
    Here is small PowerShell utility function I use:
    function Add-SPAllowedInlineDownloadedMimeType{
    [CmdLetBinding()]
    param(
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$true, Position=0, ValueFromPipeLine=$true)]
    [Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell.SPWebApplicationPipeBind]$WebApplication,
    [Parameter(Mandatory=$true, Position=1)]
    [string]$MimeType
    process{
    $actualWebApp = $WebApplication.Read()
    if ($actualWebApp.AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes -notcontains $mimetype)
    Write-Host "Adding MIME Type..."
    $actualWebApp.AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeTypes.Add($mimetype)
    $actualWebApp.Update()
    Write-Host "Done."
    } Else {
    Write-Host -ForegroundColor Green "MIME type is already added."
    And it can be used like this:
    Add-SPAllowedInlineDownloadedMimeType -WebApplication http://mywebapp -MimeType "text/html"

  • Opening a PDF file without downloading first

    I have version 9.5.5 on my Apple desktop & my laptop. When I open a PDF document on my laptop, a window opens and asks if I want to save or open on screen. I like this feature, however on my desktop I do not get the choice, it goes to download only and I have to open from that folder. I compared preferences between the 2 computers and they are the same. Could not find a preference allowing a choice in opening a document. Can anyone help? I'm sure there is a simple solution.

    I normally use Firefox, but sometimes Safari. I have both on both computers

  • I would like to open attachments without saving them. Is there a way to do that in Firefox like in IE ?

    It is nice to open an attachment without saving it to a specific location. I am used to doing this with Internet Explorer. However,
    it does not seem that I can do that with Firefox. Is that true or am I missing something ?

    Goto Options > Applications > Click on 'Action' of the file that you want to change the properties of to: Save File/Always Ask or choose a program to open it with.
    Click OK to save.

  • How do I print Mail attachment without saving it first

    I'm new to Mavericks.  With Mail in Lion, I could scroll to the bottom of an email and double click on the icon for the Word doc or pdf attachment to open it, then hit command P to print it. With Mavericks, it appears that I have to first "save" the document somewhere and then open it and print it. Is this correct?
    In most cases, this is an extra step that is unnecessary.
    Right now, the attachment displays (opened) within the email, but I don't want to print several pages of an email when all I want is to print the attached doc, for instance, an attached invoice. Also, I can't tell what kind of document it is without saving it, which I don't like. I've tried to find a way around this in preferences but no luck.
    I guess what I'd really prefer is to go back to the old Lion version of Mail, or something that approximates it more closely. Do I need to just get over it and realize that I'm going to have to save every attachment if I want to print it or is there a workaround of some sort?

    Hi tbirdvet. Even though the content of the attachment now displays as part of the email message, I tried clicking on that portion of the email and, sure enough, the "attachment" popped up in Preview, just like you said. (I kept looking for a Word doc icon or a pdf icon to double click on, but they're no longer found at the bottom of the email or selectable from a drop down menu.)
    I'm so glad this worked. Thanks.

    When I receive email attachments on my iMac saved as "docx", I can't open them, i.e. the file is empty when I open it.  On my iPad I can open them.  Why?

    I can't open them without buying software when the same emails on my iPhone have the attachment as a PDF and open?  Thanks
    Acrobat PDF files open with Preview which is already installed on the Mac.

  • How can I get Firefox to directly open a file (like a torrent) without saving it at all

    It seems that up until about 3 months ago - I could get firefox to download a file and open it directly without saving it to any particular place. This is particulary useful for downloading say a torrent or, for that matter, any other file I wish to use within another program but do not need to save the file.
    Now I have to download the file, chose where it will be saved, open the folder click on the file, and then delete the now un-needed file. A huge hassle.
    I am sure I could do this until a few months ago. For some reason I cannot now.
    Please help

    Make sure that the file has the .html file extension.
    That should be sufficient.
    Windows hides some file extensions by default.
    Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension.
    You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

  • I do not want to save every file I download. just want to open a file and move on. I do not see an option to just open or run the download without saving.

    Please give an option to just open and run a download without saving.
    I have a bunch of the things saved in the download folder that I have no clue what all of it is. Please I do not want to save everything I download, I would like to just open a file move on.
    Thank you.

    sorry but there is no option like this.
    but if you like you can delete them manually
    for these :
    1.open downloads from menu button on right or by simply pressing (Ctrl +J )
    2.Then select the downloaded file you want to delete by a single click on it.
    3. You will find a folder type icon on right side of that , in which you should click.
    4. Then it will open folder where the selected file saved.
    5. Then you can delete that file .
    OK done
