Open Camera Raw Images From Sony DSC-RX100II in PE12

No joy.  Please help.

What version of the Camera Raw plug-in do you have in PSE12?  Use Help / About Plug-in / Camera Raw in the PSE Editor to find out.
According to this list of supported cameras, you need at least ACR 8.2 for the RX100 II:
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Using Help / Updates in the PSE Editor is the usual way to update to the latest ACR; however, the most current ACR is only compatible with newer OSes, so another question is what operating system do you have on your computer that is running PSE12?

Cannot open camera RAW images from Sony DSC-RX100M3 camera.  Working on a Mac with Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7?

    Bruce,
When I made the transition to digital some 8 years ago, I had tremendous help from a number of well documented websites, among which:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
I think a lot of stuff there to get you seriously going. Another one is:
    http://www.computer-darkroom.com
I sold all my film based stuff, except a Nikon F3 and a handful of lenses and a Paterson developing tank.
The Nikon suspiciously smells like foam mirror damping strips chemically decaying.
I sold my enlarger over the internet. The word "enlarger" caused me to be on SpamCops blacklist for a while.
I'm in this since the seventies, and I think you'll be as amazed as I was at the possibilities and control you have. And no more bags with $300 worth of film that's consumed in one shoot.
Jump in both feet! you won't be sorry. And these forums are the best help you can get.
    Good luck,
    Rob

    •  If using Mac OS X (10.7.4), do the following:
    (1) Mac OS X (10.7.4):  Restart Mac, download and install OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo).
    (2) install Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 4.06
    (3) If trouble continues, use your Mac's  > Software Update... menu command to see if newer updates are available.
    (4) If trouble continues after all Apple Updates are applied, contact your camera manufacturer for suggestions.
    •  If using Mavericks, restart Mac, download, and install the latest Digital Camera RAW Compatibility update.
Use your Mac's  > Software Update... menu command to ensure your Mac software is up to date.
If the trouble continues, contact your camera manufacturer.  They may have software for translating their RAW files.

  • Will Elements 13 open my raw images on sony rx100mk2?

I currently have elements 11 but need to use the adobe dng converter to open raw images from my sony rx100mk2. If i upgrade to elements 13 will it open these raw files without needing the dog converter ?@

You need PSE12 or preferably  PSE13 for your camera.  But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.7.1
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Cannot Open Camera Raw images in CS2

    Hi
I am running CS2 and PSE 8,but cannot open Raw images in CS2
My camera is an Eos 5 MKII
Camera Raw in PSE is 5.5.
I would like to open the Raw files into CS2.
    Any Help would be appreciated.
I am using the latest firmware from Canon.
    Thankyou
    Keith

Raw files are unique to each camera model and manufacturer. There is a 'model' field and 'manufacturer' field whose values are checked as any RAW format file is opened and if the program opening that file does not have the codes for processing that specific camera's RAW file, most programs will throw a error message and not precess that file.
For Adobe image editing programs you need to have the an ACR plugin version that provides the code for your camera model.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras list the various cameras supported by Adobe photo editing programs and the version of the earlies ACR plug-in that supports that camera.
For the Canon Eos 5D MKII you will need ACR plug-in version 5.2 or better.
Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications list the program versions of Adobe image editing programs, the ACR plug-in version shipped with the program and the latest ACR plug-in version that that program can use.
The last ACR plug-in version for CS2 is 3.7, so you can not directly open the CR2 or RAW image from this camera. You could upgrade to PhotoShop CS5, the most current version of PhotoShop, or download a copy the free Adobe DNG, Digital NeGative, converter and convert your CR2 files to the Adobe DNG format and then open the DNG file with your copy PhotoShop CS2. You could also open the file with Canon image editing software and transfer the image as Tiff to your copy of CS2.

  • Camera RAW images from a D600

I am trying to upload RAW images from a D600.  I have downloaded multiple things it said I need, and done all of the updates in my Bridge help section, but it still won't load the files.  Advice?

Is your Photoshop version at least CS6 (13.x) and your version of ACR at least 7.3 ?
If not, then your camera model is not supported.  Either you upgrade, or you must download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.4 (always use the latest version of the DNG Converter, which is updated 3 or 4 times per year), install it, run it in each folder containing raw files from that camera in order to convert them to raw DNGs that you can open in ACR.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop and of Bridge, machine specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, what error message(s) you receive, etc., someone may be able to help you.

  • Photoshop CS 5.1 and raw files from Sony DSC  RX-100 -

I am trying to open a raw file from my Sony DSC RX-100 in Photoshop and get message that it isn't supported. I downloaded the update DNG Converter_8_5.dmg and it still won't let me. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi, Marek,
Unfortunately this is a forum for the CommunityHelp application and not a Photoshop forum, so there isn't a way to get an answer here.
Might I suggest that you describe your problem in a Photoshop forum such as:

  • How do I import RAW images from Sony NEX 5-R to iPhoto?

I have Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and iPhoto 9.4.2 and have installed Digital Camera RAW compatability update 4.01 but still can't import RAW images from my new Sony NEX 5-R digital camera.. any ideas? I also have Photoshop CS6 - should I import through that if iPhoto isn't a feasible option..?

This is the list of currently supported cameras
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The Nex5-R is not on the List and so that Raw format is not supported at this time.
Note: The Raw from every model of camera is different. Note: that's every model not every brand. So, the NEF produced by a Nikon D40 is not the same as the NEF produced by a D60, the CR2 produced by a Canon 350 is not the same as the CR2 produced by a Canon 400.
Therefore the Raw for every camera model needs to be added individually. If yours is not supported then let them know you want it:
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback

  • Opening  camera RAW images in CS2...  It won't do it!

I'm trying to open RAW images in CS2. When I try to do it, an error box pops up saying that it's an unknown file type(.nef). I've even tried using the software that my camera came with, but that won't let me either.
Also, the image RAW dialog box doesn't even come up when I try to open a raw image... Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Ok, I figured it out. I had to get a dng converter that was up to date.
I'm able to convert them to a negative now so I can upload them to P.S.
    Thanks for your advice!

  • What, where & how to buy correct Photoshop Elements to see RAW images from Sony a5100 camera?

I need the correct version of software to be able to read, view, convert, and format images taken in RAW with a Sony a5100 camera. What do I get & how do I get it pronto?

The ILCE 5100 was added in Camera Raw 8.7. If that is the camera you are referring to then you will have to purchase Photoshop Elements 13 and then run an update after you install it. You can purchase it at a local retailer, or you can purchase it online directly from Adobe. If you want to purchase directly from Adobe, here is the link: Products

  • Camera Raw images from my Canon 6d won't open in PS CS5. Can anyone help?

I just purchased a Canon 6d and the raw files don't show up as thumbnails and they don't open up. I've tried updating my Camera Raw in Bridge. It looks like the 7.1 update for Camera Raw isn't supported by PS CS5. What can I do?
    Carolyn.V

Camera Raw version 7.x only works with CS6.
You need Camera Raw 7.3 (CS6) or DNG Converter 7.3 or Lightroom 4.3 to open your 6D raw files, because it did not exist before these versions. Camera Raw updates are not usually provided for old versions of Adobe software.
Propriety raw format support can only be added after a new camera's release, unless manufacturers broadly adopt the DNG format as an alternative. Fortunately, DNG Converter is free, and you can use this to create DNG files from your Canon's raw files, to be opened in any version of CS/Lr.
