Open connexions not shut down when schedule expires

Hello,
I configured outbout access rules to allow outbound traffic only during certain hours (say 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM for instance). When 6 PM is reached, new outbound connexion fail as expected, but sessions initiated before 6 PM remains open I would expect from such a rule that all existing sessions would be shut down at 6 PM. Is this a normal behavior ? How can I force all existing trafic to stop when the allowed traffic window ends ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Any torrent program will and can destroy your computer.
You are not the first and will not be the last to learn this.
UnInstall and if your machine is capable Repair Permissions and shut your computer clear off, this allows it to reset and then restart your computer.  Be wary of anything you get from a torrent. Movie, Music, game, EVERYTHING.

  • Why does my iMac not shut down when I try to shut it down?

Wh does my iMac not shut down, or restart when I try to do either.  It just sits there with the little loading circle continuously moving.  The only way I can shut it down is if I hold down the power button to shut it down.  Can anyone tell me why this is?
    Thanks!

Open your Activity Monitor and check to see what is running?
If there is some important Process running, then it is better to wait until it has finished instead of cutting the power and corrupting who knows what?
If there is nothing important running, then follow the instructions in the link below for resetting the SMC.

  • Firefox.exe*32 process does not shut down when program is closed in version 17.0.1, on windows 7 64 bit OS.

When trying to open Firefox browser, I get a message Firefox is already running... You can stop the process or restart the computer. This is a recent problem and I can't think of any changes that may have occurred to change the functioning of the two programs.

The support article on Firefox "hanging" has a few pointer on Firefox failing to fully shut down and clean up after itself. Does anything here help:

  • AcroRd32.exe will not shut down when shutting down computer.

Windows 7.   Adobe Reader XI Ver. 11.0.06
Get message that AcroRd32.exe is preventing computer from shutting down.
I think this started when the .06 upgrade was installed, but not sure.

    Thanks for the reply Pat,
Looking at the processes, when I open Acrobat reader it opens 2 ArcoRd32.exe *32.   I use Opera Browser and I noticed that it opens 2 ArcoRd32.exe *32 also.   If I close the Acrobat Reader, 2 of the ArcoRd32's drop but 2 stay open, the ones opened with the Opera Browser continue to run.
I did a search on the web and found out that this is an add-on to the browser (Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox and Safari) and it allows you to open PDF files directly in the browser.   It also stated that there can be a problem of ArcoRd32 not closing and it instructs you to go to the Task Manager and end the process, just as you had stated.
At least I know what the problem is now and I can deal with it.
Thanks again for you assistance with this situation.   I have been VERY SATISFIED with your assistance.   You have been very professional and I really appreciate it.

  • I recently got a 5S, and when I am using the phone, my cheek seems to tap the screen, and calls other people, or mutes, or enables some of the other features that are not shutting down when I am talking to someone.  Can someone help, please!

I recently got the iPhone 5S, and when I am talking, my cheek will touch the various buttons on the scene, and I am calling, going mute, or touching the keypad, and such.  How can I get the phone screen to stop doing this while I am talking.  I have IOS 8.  Thank you.  Please reply in simple terms, as I am not the best at understanding how to fix things.  Thanks again.

First, try a reset to see if that clears it up:
Hold down the home button and the power button together until the screen goes black and the Apple logo appears, then let go of the buttons. This will not cause any data loss and is like a reboot for your phone.

  • My MacBook pro will not shut down when I click the shut down icon only shut down by holding down the button

My MacBook wil not shutdown when I click on the shutdown icon I just restart it self

Have you tried holding the power button down for several seconds? I would try the force quit as mentioned earlier first, or go to the Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities and try force quit there.

  • Foxfire will not "shut down" when I close it. When I try to reopen it, it gives an error: Foxfire is currently running.

When I close Firefox, the application stops as usual. However, if within a couple of minutes (longer), I try to restart the application, it will not open. An error message appears stating the operation is open and must be closed before it can reopen. I must got into Task Master (Windows Vista-Home Premium) and end the process. The Application page is empty.

my ideapad literally will not shut down. when i click "shut down" it does nothing. "restart" doesnt work either. however, hibernate and sleep work fine.
some odd things have been happening too. like, my google chrome keeps saying "administrator has disabled updates" so now flash doesnt work on chrome because its not updated. also i cant uninstall things from my computer and everything in general just lags (when i move a file into the trash bin the file icon still shows in the previous location. when i try to click on said icon it says "file not found") dunno if this is related but ???

    Hello buyersremorse,
A few more details may be helpful to the volunteers here in making a diagnosis.
Have you tried another browser? If so how does that behave?
Have you run any anti-virus scans?
Are you able to download and run the following diagnostic tool? It won't fix anything, but will simply show a basic short report of what is installed.
    * In order to prevent conflicts, you may need to disable your anti-virus/anti-spyware before downloading and running this.
Please go to HERE and download FLMini.zip
    Save it to your Desktop
Some Browsers such as Chrome will save to your Downloads folder.
If you see a warning or something similar from your anti-virus at any point: "FLMini.zip is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous" (or is a Trojan)->> Select Keep
Open the Downloads folder ->> Copy and paste FLMini.zip to your Desktop
Rt. Click ->> Extract all ->> And extract it to your Desktop
    Open the FLMini Folder.
    Double Click FLMini.exe ->>
As the program runs, a small window will open to let you know the progress of the scan, and when it is finished. The scan will take a few minutes. It may seem as if it is not doing anything. Please be patient.
When the program is finished it will produce a log for you MiniReport.txt
Copy and paste the contents of that log into your next reply on this forum..
MiniReport.txt can be found in the FLMini Folder.
    * Please delete the FLMini folders from your desktop after your issue has been resolved and your forum topic is finished.
I look forward to your reply so that we have a better picture of what may be happening.

  • Why does my macbook shut down when the lid is closed?

    Hi,
    I have a Macbook Pro (mid-2012) running 10.9.1
Last week out of the blue, the Macbook started shutting down whenever I close the lid.
When I open the lid, the logon screen appears (as if it's been asleep as normal) but almost immediately reboots itself.
Has anyone else got the same issue? Any idea how to resolve?
    Thanks

If after you open the lid you do get the login screen, almost immediately, but then it restarts your system is not shutting down when you close the lid. It is going into a sleep state but then crashes when trying to come out of that sleep state. There are quite a few posts on this problem and it seems to be caused by the system going into the Deep Sleep state also known as the hibernate mode. That is where the contents of the RAM is written to the hard drive and the system suspends supplying power to the RAM chips so the system uses even less power then in regular sleep mode.
That is only supposed to happen after the system has been in the regular sleep mode for an extended period of time.
To check the state of the huiberbnate mode open terminal and type in, or copy and paste, this command.
    pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
To check the state of all power management settings use the command.
    pmset -g

  • IMac 5K Occasionally not shutting down!

    Hi I have an iMac 5K i7 4GHz with 256 Internal SSD & 32 GB Ram.
With it I use the LaCie Little Big Disk 1TB Thunderbolt 2 SSD.
I have this unusual problem that occasionally the iMac does not shut down when either using key commands, or from the finder menu.
The dock and top menu bar disappear but thats it. I'm left with just my desktop picture and no shut down.
If I go to the dock with my mouse it pops back, and if I open up an application...iTunes for example the top menu bar reappears.
I have to use the on/off button at the back of mac. Its annoying as ****. This can happen with iMac being switched on for a little or long while. There is no excessive fan noise or heat related problems. I have done a hardware test, again no problems reported.
It's as though something is still working in the background, not allowing it to shut down.
I have ejected the LaCie drive before shutdown but still no use. I have also reinstalled Yosemite and reset PRAM etc.
Any useful suggestions would be most welcome.
Has anyone else experienced this with any of their macs??

Sort of the same problem here.
I have two brand new iMacs 5K, both 4 Ghz model with 24 GB RAM. Yosemite 10.10.2. Used Migration assistant on both to transfer stuff from old Mac Pro. Both from a different workstation.
When I tell it to shut down, screen turns black and white stripe-wheel turns. sometimes it shuts down, most of the times wheel keeps turning, endlessly. have to manually force shut down with power button.
