Open .cp in captivate 6.1

I have Adobe Captivate 6.0.1.240 that came with Adobe eLearning Suite 6.1.  Previous forums stated that I should be able to open a .cp file in Adobe 6.0, but I am receiving an error.
Do I need to download Adobe Captivate 5.5 and try to open and convert it from there?  If so, how do I obtain a copy?

Hi There,
Are you able to open the same .cp file in Captivate 4? Was this file created in Cp 4 or any earlier version?

Mayank

  • Cannot open files in Captivate 5 that were create using Captivate 5.5

I created a few videos using Adobe Captivate version 5.5 using the trial version.
After a few days i got the license for Adobe Captivate 5 and im trying to open the files that i created using Adobe captivate 5.5.
When i try to open the files Captivate shows up an error message telling 'The file might already be open or it does not exist'.
I understand they are two different versions. Has someone faced anything like this before ? Please let me know if you have solutions to open the files i have created.
    Thanks
    Chetan

You can only open Cp 5.5 files with Cp 5.5.
There is no solution for opening these files in Cp 5 version.
May I ask, why did you not get a license of Cp 5.5?  It's been around for over 6 months now.

  • Trying to open PDF in captivate 4

    Hi,
I am trying to create a link to a pdf document using the open url or file action in Captivate 4.  My problem is that I will eventually be creating a CD to run this from and whenever I move my files, I can't open the link.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hi there
I suppose there may be a way to do it by using Flash to create a file that would do it. But I'll have to leave that to a Flashy type person to answer.
I really do wish that we would hear from Adobe on the matter. It's quite perplexing!

  • Is it safe to open a Windows Captivate file on a Mac?

We have Captivate installed on a PC and a Mac and I was wondering if it's safe to open a windows cptx file on a mac. I tried opening a project file created on a PC on the Mac and noticed that the font size changed (bigger) after publishing even if it looked fine when i opened it. Anyone else experienced this?

    Ron,
is my old Pro Keyboard from my bondi blue imac.
If I open it, will there be any crazy carcinogenic clouds of poison (exaggeration)?
Do you think its safe? I don't have the box, are there any warnings on it?
The original keyboard with the Bondi was the Apple USB Keboard.
A Pro Keyboard is the larger one, white. I've had one of these apart to repair it.
I like that keyboard and there's part of me that doesn't want to see one of those taken apart.
However I didn't see anything dangerous in there and I wouldn't expect there to be anything in the Bondi one.

  • Can't open pptx in Captivate 4

    Hello,
I am using Captivate4 with PowerPoint 2007.  I am trying to "Create Project" using the "From MS PowerPoint" option from the Captivate 4 opening dialoge box.  PowerPoint is working fine on my computer, but when I try to open a pptx file from within Captivate, I get the following error message:
The operation could not be completed.  Use one of the following options that is applicable to you, and retry.
         - Close any PowerPoint window open on your computer.
         - Install PowerPoint on your computer.
         - Ensure that you are able to create a PowerPoint file and save it.
I also tried creating a "blank project" in captivate and then trying to "Insert" a PowerPoint slide, but I get the same error message.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Problems opening files in Captivate 6 after new install

I just got a new computer and I am frustrated because Captivate 6 is not functioning like it was on my old computer.
When I open a file it takes an extreme amount of time to open.  It often gets stuck at 30% of opening.
Then when I try to go from slide to slide when I do get the presentation open it takes more than a minute to switch from slide to slide.
This does not seem normal.  Any suggestions?

Here is how we resolved the problem.
The issue was that I had a corrupt user profile on my computer.  We tested this by having the administrator log onto the computer under the administrator profile and the program worked fine.
So IT rebuilt my user profile and now the progam is working fine as well.
You might try logining on as a different user and see if this is true for your computer.  If not there may be a couple of options you can try.  Let me know if it does not work.

I was able to isolate the problem late yesterday.
When I logged in as a different user on the same computer I found that Captivate worked just like it should.
Therefore the conculusion was that I have a corrupt user profile.
The IT department is going to rebuild my user profile and I should be back in business and creating compelling e-learning later today.
Thank you very much for your follow-up on the posting!

  • Can't open PDF in Captivate 3

I have converted a CBT from Captivate 2 to 3. I cannot open
the attached PDF files once the CBT has been published to the Web.
I don't think this is a conversion problem because I had the same
problem in Captivate 2. I have check to make sure the pdf files
have been promoted to the web site and they have. All the files are
together the pdf files just won't open. Please does anyone have a
suggestion to fix this? It is very frustrating. I am hoping I am
missing something simple. Help - The deadline is here!

    Hi all
One possible way past this is to use the companion
MenuBuilder application. Create a small blank project in
MenuBuilder. No need for any images. All you need is a single Click
Box that covers the area. Link the Click Box to the file and Export
from MenuBuilder as a .SWF. Once you have it exported, click Insert
    > Animation and drop it on the slide in Captivate where you want
the user to click to open the file. Place the animation over an
image or something so it looks like a Button or link.
Give that a go and post back with results... Rick

  • Trouble opening projects from Captivate 2

I've downloaded the Captivate 4 trial b/c I'm very interested
in the ability to export to .AVI for use in videos I edit. I had be
running Captivate 2 to record software demonstrations, so I went to
open an older project and it said that the project had to be
updated for 4 and I clicked ok...it goes through some iterations
importing audio and optimizing images for Captivate 4 and then
nothing happens. The hour glass makes it seem like the program is
working but nothing ever opens. Can anyone help?

    Hi there
If the conversion doesn't seem to be working perhaps you will
have better luck trying the following.
    1. Perhaps try defining a blank project in 4, then see if you
are able to import from 2.
    Or
    2. Perhaps try opening the project in 2, then define a blank
project in 4. See if you are able to copy the slides from 2 and
    paste into 4.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Workspace not visible after opening project. Captivate 8.0.1.242 on OSX 10.10.1

Running Captivate 8.0.1.242 on OSX10.10.1. Captivate launches, but when I open a new or existing project it seems to open of the screen. I can't see the workspace, the menu bar is there, just no workspace. I have checked to make sure there isn't another desktop open. I am sure it is opening the project since it asks if I want to save if I select close from the menu bar. Anyone seen this?

    Hi  There ,
It  seems  an  unexpected  behaviour. Close  Captivate  first  then  go  to  Applications  > Adobe  > Adobe  Captivate  8  >  utils  >  Run  CleanPreferencesMac.bat file .
Then  launch  Captivate  8  and  see  if  that  makes  any  difference .

  • Problem with Open URL: Adobe Captivate 4

I am using Adobe Captivate 4. I have a simple slide in the middle of my video that contains three text buttons--two of them "jump to another slide" when the user clicks them. The third is set to open a URL.
When I preview the video, this all works perfectly. However when I publish, the "open URL" button does not work.
    Any ideas?

  • Solution for Opening PDF in captivate 3..Maybe

I know many of you have been struggling with this...I have
too and for me sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.
My scenario is at the end of a captive 3 demo, I put a button
to allow the user to download a PDF of the simulation. The button
is on the very last slide. and is a link to a file. I discovered it
worked in some of the simulations and some it didn't, and I was
pulling out my hair to figure it out. So here is what I did and it
seems to now work consistently. In no particular order
-The button that you put on the last slide has to has the
"Pause After" checked box checked, I just made it after about 2.5
sec my total slide length is 3sec
-when you select the file to link to it puts the whole path
to the document. (ie C:/document and setting/etc) I deleted all of
that and just left the name of the file I wanted to link to and
    -Shortcut key none
    infinite attempts
-publish everything to the same folder-
Anyway this has worked for me and become my solution. I just
thought I'd post it here and maybe it will help someone out there
    with the same problem.
    peace

Sorry most of my message disappeared :-( I tried using the
bullets points...looks like it didn't work so good.

I am not sure what you used to post the solution but it is
    not readable. Please try again.

  • Problems with Opening URL in Captivate 5

Hi, we are trying to use a URL in our course and have tried the following ways:
Adding URL to a click box
    Adding URL to Button
Adding URL to Advanced Action and Executing the Advanced Action
When we do this, the URL works in the Preview, but it never works in the published version.
The link is fine, we have tested this, and the buttons and click boxes are also fine in the preview, the issue is in the published version.
Is there any solution to this?
    Thanks,
    Sarah

If you are testing this published content from a folder on your hard drive or a network LAN, then the reason the link is not working will be that you have not set up the publish folder as a trusted location in Flash Global Security.
This page explains the issue and shows what to do:
