We don't quite understand your question. Perhaps you can rephrase it, and also show the exception message that you get?
Thanks.

Any APP crashes when opening/saving on different locations
Hi Folks... I'm having a new issue on my mac, which is coming more and more regular...
The apps crash when I'm trying to:
1. open a file from the File/Open that pop ups a window for browse the file.
2. When I'm trying to save the file through the Save As command. The crash mostly occurs when I'm trying to browse to another folder, either been for save or for open a file.
Apps involved: mostly Photoshop CS5 and Safari, but it happens with other apps too.
Extra symptom: When the crash occurs, the file gets like corrupted, so each time I try to open/save the file, it crashes the app.
Solution for the extra symptom: change the name of the file, but problem 1 & 2 starts again (so I have to create a loop of files with different names in order to sort the problem).
Importance of problem: SUPER HIGH! I'm loosing very important works when this happens, because saving isn't secure and I cannot save as [different versions of the same file] from the app because it's 100% it crashes, so I have to rewrite the file each time I have to save it, which is not good either.
Things I did:
1. I already uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop and cleaned all the files related to it (plists, preferences, etc), so I did a clean install of it and the problem persists.
2. Already cleaned all the cache files, plist and such from Safari, but the problem persists.
3. Already ran all the usual maintenance routines and the problem persists.
I'm hoping to get a clear answer for this issue because I'm wasting lot of time when working, specially in Photoshop.
Thank you very much for your help, as always!

The problem still persists. I have tried with other apps, such as Excel, Mail, Text Edit, etc (you know that also Safari and Photoshop) and the problem is exactly the same... So the problem doesn't come from the apps.
Strangely, when doing some automated task in Photoshop (I use to retouch plenty of pics, it's my job) like using the Script Tool located in the File Menu, I have to open a location and browse for the pics I want to automate, just like opening a window from any app, and browsing for a file and it doesn't crash. It¡s exactly the same thing but it doesn't crash.
Weird...
Will put here a log file of let say, text edit (it crashed when I selected other than the default directory):

I work with a data entry company and I'd like to have a New Window open on the right side of the screen instead of constantly opening directly on top of the current window (which is about 1/2 the screen on the left). Is there any settings or add-on that will let me do this? I have to do this a lot when I'm working and constantly having to drag the new window to the right so I can see it and work in the window on the left is a pain.
You could try using the Custom Geometry extension and see how that works for you. ''I have been having problems with it on WinXP since Firefox 4.0 was released last year, maybe it will work better for you on Windows7.''
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-geometry/
In Options for that extension setup additional Custom Geometry options ''(height, width, left, & top)'' with different offsets, and when you open an additional window use the drop-marker on the CG toolbar button to select the offset you want for that new window.
That drop-marker menu hasn't been working properly on my PC, but I use still use CG when running multiple Profiles - each with a different offset, so that I have access at the edge of the current window to "grab" another Profile when I want. -

Problem: Finder opening in different location
Hello there,
I just recently bought my new MBP 13'' (currently running Mountain Lion) and here's my problem:
I have set Finder (in Finder's preferences) to open in the "Documents" folder whenever I open a new Finder window. This works great except that every time I shut down my computer or restart my computer and then hit Finder it will open in a different location rather than the "Documents" folder I told it to. If I close finder and then re-open it afterward it will open correctly on my "Documents" folder. Why is that? Is there a way to prevent Finder from switching the location I want it to open at?
Thanks in advance. That option was/is on by default in early versions of Lion 10.7.x and even if you UnChecked it the next time you rebooted that option would again be checked. That changed in later releases of Lion and in Mt Lion where if it was Unchecked it stayed unchecked. This happened from all the complaints about that option as it was seen as a Bug.
But that is not what the OP is asking about.

I thought that reopen windows option was on by default, and so had to be actively deselected, but at my age my memory could be playing tricks on me. In any case, if you don't have it selected now, then there must be some other explanation. -
Hi I have lr 4 on a windows 8 computer. I keep getting an error message when I try to open LR. It states that the catalog is already open in a different location, close this, then try to open lr. I have tried re booting, opening a new catalog, upgrading to 4.4, removed 4.4 & still get the same message. Please help!!!
Try going to your lightroom folder (the default is usually inside Pictures or My pictures) where the catalog is located. Don’t touch any .lrcat files but if you see a similar file with the word Lock, you can delete it. Then try launching Lightroom.

SQL Server two database at two different locations
Hi Guys,
We are having same database at two different locations (Database A with Sqlserver 2008/Express, database B with Sqlserver 2012).
Our requirement is when ever a row is inserted in a table of Database A from location 1. Same value should also be added in Server 2 at different location.
So that at any point of time both the database base values should be same.
Which is the best method to do it ?
Regards,
Raghu.G
raghuCould you please give more information about the editions of SQL Server? Is SQL 2012 express as well?
Do you also need udpates/deletes to be moved to another server? Also do you want changes in SQL 2012 to be moved to 2008 as well?
With Express edition you have very limited options.

Oracle standby database creation different backup location
Hi,
I am using Oracle EE 11gR2 on aix 6.2.I am tring to create a standby database. The directory structure od primary and standby database server are different.
I am taking backup (RMAN) at /u01/backup directory on primary server and shipping those backup to standby server at /u05/backup.While duplication the rman unable to locate backup pieces at Dr server as those backups are located on different location from Dc.How to over come this situation.catalog start with is not working.
Regards
DBAFORUHello;
Since you are on Oracle 11 one option would be duplicate from active primary. You can use the Standby parameters of DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT and LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT for the directory structure.

I am trying to save an Excel 2010 file to a Sahrepoint 2010 document library but keep getting the error:
"You can't open this location using this program. Please try a different location"
Googling this suggests enabling "Desktop Experience" on the server which I have done. Excel Services Application is Started.
Has anyone come across this and been able to resolve successfully? I am wondering if this is more security related but the security set-up looks fine.
Any suggestions?
ThanksHi Sally, thanks for the response. Problem is the issue occurs with all users not just me.
On the server-side do you know if the full Office installation must exist for this to work?
The reason I think it may be security related in some way is that on another server we can access one site collection but not another. The first site collection shows the various libraries available and the other gives the same error: "You
can't open this location using this program. Please try a different location".
It's proving to be very frustrating! -
POS Integration in 15 different locations(WAN)
hai,
We are developing POS for a chain of 15 stores which are located in different locations. We finished and tested it for LAN and it works fine.We developed our application using the following:
OS:Windows 98
Application Server:JBOSS
Database:Interbase
Front end UI desing:Java swings
BackEnd :EJB
And also we tested the application using Different static IP's.(IN 2 locations)One IP as a server and Another IP as a client.
While opening our application It could open but it takes more time for it. And also our application is very slow during updation of any data .
So you please tell any suggestions to recover this problem.
Awaiting for your valuable replyit is probably the material you put it on. also the lower the signal the hotter it will get.

There was an error opening database for the library....
my latpop had a kernel panic wihile i was using aperture to impor pictures "that yes i have deleated off the memory card," shut down and restarted. upon restarting i was presented with this error...
there was an error opening database for the library....
what is ....? Is the path to your main Aperture library printed there, or is Aperture trying to open a different location? If it is a different location, launch Aperture on your correct library, by double clicking the library.
If it is indeed trying to open the correct library package, try if repairing and rebuilding the library with the "first aid tools" will help, see this manual page on how to do this:
Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
If the problem persists, when trying to repair, check if there is a crash report and post the first 60 lines.

My Catalog - "Can't open Database" error
After being able to open Photoshop Album Starter Edition successfully and without incident several months ago, one day I received this error:
"Problem opening the Catalog named "My Catalog". Another user or application may have the catalog open, or one or more files may be missing, out of date, or damaged. [Microsoft] [ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] can't open database 'unknown'. It may not be a database that your application recognizes or the file may be corrupt. Attempt to compact and recover this catalog then try again? - OK or Cancel"
If I choose OK, then I get another error:
"Catalog Recovery Incomplete - A problem was encountered during catalog recovery. Your catalog may be ok, but if you experience problems with it that can't be resolved through the Reover Catalog option or restarting your computer system you may need to restore this catalog from a backup. - OK"
That goes to a 3rd error message:
"Unable to open "My Catalog because it is damaged. Please choose: Open existing or Create a new catalog named My Catalog-1.psa"
If I choose existing, it goes to the folder where My Catalog is stored, I can click it, and then I receive the first message. If I choose create a new catalog, it does, then gives me the first error message. PSA SE never opens, but the photo downloader appears in my Task bar Notification area, and I can Launch, Enable/Disable or Exit that program. If I try to acquire a photo, I end up with the same first error message.
I've seen the other threads that address what may be close to this issue, and I've done all the fixes suggested, short of reinstalling WindowsXP, which I'd rather avoid, but I've had no luck - I still get the exact same error messages.
I am using Office 97, including Access, Word, Excel, etc. but I'm not having any issues with those. I'm also using Pagemaker 7.0 and no issues there related to a catalog or database. I did have at one time a trial copy of Illustrator, and this problem started occurring after that trial was expired. I've since uninstalled Illustrator, done all the fixes suggested here, deleted the My Catalog files, restarted, uninstalled and re-installed PSA SE3.2, and still it cannot 'see' My Catalog.
Any other suggestions (besides upgrading to Office-this decade, which I would love, but employer hasn't made that leap yet.)? TIA
TraceyNo, no multiple users on this machine, or on that application. Both are located on the C: drive of a computer with intranet and internet access.
Could it have anything to do with the application Microsoft Access? [Microsoft ODBC Access97 driver] is named in the first error message. Access97 was always on this computer, but it wasn't actually put into use until about 6-8 months ago, and it was sometime after I started using it that I could no longer open PSA-SE. Connection? Fixable? -
What is the best way to work on the same InDesign file in different locations?
I'm the creative director for an in-house creative department. We produce 37 catalogs and a multitude of print and electronic advertising each year, plus a variety of other items. Our problem is that we have two locations. In the current set-up, if I want someone at one location to work on a project but the files are at the other location, I have someone at the one location package all the materials involved with that project and either upload them to DropBox or copy them to an external drive and ship it. Not very efficient.
We have servers at both locations but there are different files at each location. I'm able to remote from my computer into a computer at the other location, but if everyone were to do that we would need double the number of CC subscriptions and computers, and it would bog down the internet connection that the entire company uses. I'm also connected to the server at the other location (again, over the internet) and have opened InDesign files that reside on the server there and tried to work on them here (over the internet) but that is much slower than remoting in.
The only way I can think of to alleviate this problem is to run duplicate servers at each location, but this would be an update and back-up nightmare (unless I'm missing something). Is anyone operating this same way and, if so, how are you dealing with it?
We can't be the only company that works like this. Maybe I'm just missing something.
Thanks,
LloydWe have servers at both locations but there are different files at each location.
One tiny thing bothers me about your setup. And you said it above, you would need double the number of CC subscriptions and computers. Are you using two people to access under the same CC subscription. Even if they are working in two different time zones, it is technically violating the rules and spirit of the rules of being able to install on two machines at the same time.
You're allowed to install for two machines for one person working at the office and then at home. One person wouldn't be in two different locations at the same time.
Meanwhile, regards your problem, I remember reading about a system many years ago that was pretty simple. It was based on an old newspaper/magaizine system of "who has the folder." (Created before computers) In the old days, if someone was working on a file, they left a folder with their name in its place.
In the computer age, one person, working on a file, would move it to their desktop. Then, they would leave an empty folder with that document's name where it had been as well as their initials. So if I took "Shoes and Socks Fall 2015.indd" out, I would leave a folder named "Shoes and Socks Fall 2015_smsc" in its place.
And if it was necessary for me to have the images, I would make a copy of them onto my machine so I wouldn't tax the network. Then when I was finished, I would copy the file back to the server. The links should show up. If not, we could relink later.
With the empty folder on the server, anyone could tell who is working on a project. So if they were late getting it back, you could email them.
It relies on the people being disciplined enough to make the folders, move the docs, etc. But since you've ruled out all the systems for companies with dumb employees, you're going to have to make them follow the rules. -
I am very new to sqldeveloper and I can't figure out how to get a second table to open in a different tab. It always wants to open in the same tab as the first table I open.
Note the red Freeze pin in the tab's mini-toolbar to toggle reuse of the same tab.
To freeze automatically: Preferences - Database - ObjectViewer.
Have fun,
