All,
I need to create a file in the App Server with each field needs to separated with a Square Symbol ( I don't have any info what is this Square Symbol ) and also i cannot able to recreate the same that over here. But i can see that in notepad and wordpad

Open Dataset : File creation in server

Hi Guys,
I am trying to use
Open dataset dsn for output in text mode encoding default.   " dsn = '
pt-net\taskout\outfile.txt'.
loop at itab.
transfer itab to dsn.
endloop.
to write a file at a destination on a windows NT server For eg :
pt-net\taskout\outfile.txt
I see sy-subrc = 0 at both open dataset and transfer commands in the debugger. But the file is not written.
I can manually create files when I access this path in my explorer. So it is not an access issue.
Also, my SAP application server is a Unix server. But the file I am trying to write is in NT server. THis is for a 3rd party application. Where am I possibly going wrong ? I am able to write this file to the Unix application server path using the above command. But I need to write this in the Windows server.
Do I need first write to Unix path and then FTP it to Windows server ? I can manually do this. But since this program is going to run as a job, I want to automate this..

First write the file in the file system of your application server.
After that find out, what to do for transport on operation system level.
Since SAP allows system calls, you can do it in the same way by program.
I give you some code. Unfortunately it is from Windows to Windows. Nevertheless I hope you can profit by it.

Can't open DNG files created with Mac CS5 downloader in Mac CS4 Photoshop

I recently installed CS5 on my mac but I kept CS4 installed as well. I notice that I cannot open DNG files created with CS5 in Photoshop CS4. Bridge CS4 shows the files only as icons - no image thumbnails. I am able to open these same files on a Windows version of CS4. Is there some plugin for my mac CS4 that will enable me to access the DNG files created with CS5? Is there a way to use my CS5 downloader when converting my raw files from my camera to DNG files that will make them compatiple with PS and Bridge CS4?

Well, yes...but you'll need to modify your DNG Converter prefs to allow for that. You''ll need a recent (ideally current DNG Converter 6.4.1 or above) and click on the DNG Converter preferences and select the correct DNG Converter options. Check DNG Converter 6.4.1 (the current version) and click on "Change Preferences" to be sure select Camera Raw 5.4 and later then make sure CS4 is updated to ACR 5.7 (which is the last version of ACR for CS4) However, the changes made to ACR 6.x really should be adopted since IQ for ACR 6.4.x is a lot better...

Why can't I open RAW files taken with my Nikon D3200 in Elements 10?

Is there a fix in the works that will allow me to open RAW files taken with my Nikon D3200?

Actually the 7.1 camera raw update covers the D3200, but for whatever reason adobe has denied users of pse 10 that update.
Maybe it will still be released, but to me something else seems to be up, because in the past the latest version of elements (at least on windows) was always updated
to the latest version of camera raw at the same time photoshop was.
In the meantime you could download the 7.1 DNG converter to convert your files to dng copies which will then open in pse 10.

I know this stinks, but other than using the camera makers or aftermarket raw programs (lightroom), that's the best i can suggest for now.

You need either Pages '09 or the original Pages '08? programs.
With Pages '09 you simply open it and it accurate converts it to Pages '09. Pages 5 will open the Pages '09 version but may alter/damage the file.
With Pages '08 you Export it to Word .doc/.docx with mixed results, then open that in Pages 5 which may alter/damage the file.

Opening Cr2 file made with Canon g11 in Elements 7

Recently I purchased a G11. Elements 7 won't open the raw files created with that camera. I get an error message saying wrong type of file.
Elements 7 opens cr2 files made with my Canon Rebel (3 years old)
Ideas?

I also have the similar issue. I am able to write the data into appliaction server in Chinese Characters using :OPEN DATASET datei FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT or OPEN DATASET datei FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING UTF-8. But when i save that file into my presentation server manually, all the chinese characters are showing as Junk.
When i use OPEN DATASET datei FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING NON-UNICODE, giving runtime error and when i use OPEN DATASET datei FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING NON-UNICODE IGNORING CONVERSION ERRORS, No error but application server output itself showing as Junk characters.
Could you please suggest me what you have done?

Define variable of type string or type CHAR(XXX), XXX should be equal or more than expected length of record.
Open dataset in text mode or binary mode.(prefer binary mode - if user will go to OS and see the file by double click prefer text mode so that it will get downloaded in readable format).
if dataset is opened successfully -
Loop at your internal table into string or defined variable .
Use transfer command to transfer each line.
Close the dataset.
Here goes some code:

IF im_binary_mode IS NOT INITIAL.

Now important thing:
Record with length more than 255 gets downloaded successfuly intext mode but when you try to read it via AL11, CG3Y, or with OPEN dataset- READ- write ..CLOSE dataset you can see only 255 character.
Dont worry about this.
AL11 and CG3Y is unable to display more than 255 char in text mode. if you are writing content of the file on list screen, use OFFSET, like WRITE: /01(500) lv_string.
write statement in AL11/cg3y doesnt have this offset in write so more than 255 length cant be seen.

i need to open a file whose name starts with ABC_DELTA and has the latest timestamp. i mean there are many files in this folder and some files will start with ABC_DELTA, but i need to pick up the file which has the latest timestamp or is the newest. how would i implement this. pls help.

I cannot open raw file shot with canon 20d. I get an error message.

I recently used a 50d camera and shot in raw +jpeg. Downloaded into computer. Was able to view jpeg but was unable to view raw version.At first I attributed this to needing software update for 50d. I brought up a raw file taken with a 20d and the same error message appeared. I could open a 20d file before. This morning I tried again.I did open a 20d file.I tried a 50d file and the error message appeared. Went back to 20d file and the error message appeared saying it cannot open file.I am less than a novice. I purchased elements 6 a year ago and am just starting to try to use it. This refers to problems using Microsoft software and Vista, not Adobe software and Vista. I believe it is saying that Adobe properly handles both .nef and .dng files. I have no idea how this quote relates to this thread at all.

i got the output and put into an internal table.
the following code has been used.

during the execution i hv a button alv grid outpu. when i click the button the file should be transferred.

Try this..instead of moving field by field into the file 1st convert all he fields to a character stream..and then move that steam to file. Ex:
loop at internal table into l_h_tbl_file.
concatenate l_h_tbl_file-f1 l_h_tbl_file-f2 l_h_tbl_file-f3
l_h_tbl_file-f4 l_h_tbl_file-f5 into g_string.
TRANSFER g_string TO fu_wk_get_file.
endloop.

How do I open .dll files automatically with Adobe Reader through Firefox?

Hi,
When I print eBay labels through Firefox, a .dll file is downloaded. This used to open automatically in Adobe Reader, but now it opens as a text document in TextEdit, so I have to manually open Adobe Reader, change options to show "all files", and then locate the .dll file and open it.
When I try to change the default application in Firefox preferences, I can't find anything with the content type "dll".
Is there a way to have Firefox automatically open .dll files with Adobe Reader?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

That worked, thank you!
I quit out of Firefox, renamed the file like you said, restarted my computer, and restarted Firefox.
When I went to download a label, Firefox asked me which application to use, and I picked Adobe Reader. I also checked the box to make that the default. This automatically opened the file in AR, and then when I did it the next time it worked perfectly.
Again, thank you so much for your help with this - although it's just a bit of time here and there saved it really adds up!

hi! i'm using mac os x 10.7.4 and have Office 2011. i can no longer open older documents (.doc) created with Microsoft Word 97... What can i do to get access to these files?

I had too many of these that I had to convert to a modern format. It isn't easy or consistent but one of these normally works:
1. Open up Word and use the File/Open command rather than just double clicking on the file. Why does this sometimes work? I don't know! Save in docx format.
2. Try opening the files in Office 2010 on a Windows machine. Again, immediately save as a docx file. This works more often than the advice above.
3. Download the free LibreOffice and try opening it there. There will be some format problems but easily fixed. Once again, save in docx format.
4. Breakdown and look for a dedicated format converter.
