Open DW cs4 site into DW 5.5?

How do I bring an entire site into DW 5.5? When I simply open the index file, it does not bring in my "Manage sites" info (server, testing with login, etc).
I have tried exporting my cs4 site and opening it in cs5.5 to no avail.
Thank you,
Matt G

Mac OS X, 10.6.7.
In Manage Sites dialog box, I exported the site in CS4. It creates a .ste file.
When I open that in CS5.5, I can open the index.cfm file but non of my server/ftp info comes in.
I just want to use DW 5.5 for all of my projects that were created in DW4 without having to set up the sites all over again.
Thanks
Matt

  • Frontpage Sites into Dreamweaver CS4

OK I am a newbie to both Mac and Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 on a MacBook Pro and I do not have the option of running Frontpage under Parellels as I have tried it about 20x and Frontpage cannot see my Frontpage files on my Mac .psf network solution . . . so . . . I have to learn DW in one days time; but first, I have to get Frontpage sites into DW.  BTW, have no sympathy for me, I do stupid things like this all the time, it's how I became an expert at Avid Liquid and how I'm doing the same on Final Cut Pro and will probably do on Premier Pro CS4.  Learn by "doing."  However, please be gentle, I'm a novice at Mac.
Anyone tell me how to get Frontpage sites into Dreamweaver CS4?  Also, is DW CS4 version 8?  MX?  Or do none of these versions apply?
Thanks in advance to all who respond.

    Dr Dimento,
I have to confess that the first time I opened DW at the beginning of this week, my first reaction was OMG, what have I done, this is going to be impossible!  I then spent a couple of hours just playing around and it all started to make some sense.
Before even installing DW, I spent some time studying the superb videos here:
    http://tv.adobe.com/product/dreamweaver/
In particular, I would suggest you watch all the videos here:
    http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-dreamweaver-cs4/
These videos got me to the point where I now feel comfortable with DW.  Some of the videos go by pretty quickly, so watch them twice.  They are really excellent!
I would also suggest you read this:
Migrating from Microsoft FrontPage 2003 to Adobe Dreamweaver 8
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/frontpage_to_dw8.html
Hang in there.... I suspect we will both be glad we left FP behind once we get more familiar with DW.

  • Launch Dreamweaver CS4 and open a specific site

One of my stumbling blocks in moving from GoLive 9 to Dreamweaver CS4 is finding a way to have Dreamweaver open a specific site at launch time.  GoLive has a "name.site" file that contains site-specific information.  Double-clicking that GoLive site file launches GoLive (or switches to the running application) and makes that site the current/frontmost site.
With Dreamweaver, I can double-click a page in a site and launch Dreamweaver.  However, Dreamweaver's active site is the one that was active at the end of the last Dreamweaver session.
Is there a way to launch Dreamweaver and have it automatically open a specific site?
    -- Barney

Say, if they do something like that for the already existing .ste files, then it might just encourage some people to export/backup their site definitions. Although I would probably never think to doubleclick one of them, that is still a good idea.

  • Unable to open Power BI Sites - Error: We were unable to load the Site. Refresh the page to try again

    Power BI Sites Error
We were unable to load the Site. Refresh the page to try again
When opening Power BI Sites with internet explorer, in certain security configurations you may run into the above error. While we are looking into resolving this, please see the following workaround:
From the Tools menu, select internet options.
On the security tab uncheck the "Enable Protected Mode" checkbox form the relevant Zone (Intranet/Internet)
Remove all entries to *.powerbi.com from trusted sites or/and local intranet sites
On the advanced tab, uncheck the "Enable enhanced protected mode" (if you made a change here it will require a restart of the machine)
Restart and try again (if not changes done in the last step, just restart the browser)

    Hi
Any further debugging tips? I upgraded from IE9 to IE11 on my Win7 machine to try get Q&A working, it broke the entire PowerBI site for me

  • Ever since I downloaded the new version a few days ago I get full screen popup ads whenever I try to open a new site. It's INCREDIBLY annoying, and sometimes there is no icon to close them. WHY, why would Firefox allow this?

I don't HAVE any more details. Whenever I open a new site, I get (so far) one of two full screen advertisements. Most of the time there is the word "Skip" in the upper right hand corner, but on occasion that is not there, and there no way to get beyond the ad screen except to go into what they are trying to sell you. It is imposing and obnoxious to the nth. This has only happened since I downloaded the latest version (I think the BETA 4) 3 days ago. If this can not be resolved, I want to go back to the older version.
    Thanks,
    Kathryn

The Firefox pop-up blocker is usually very effective for blocking pop-ups generated by websites, but it sounds like you may have picked up some Malware that is generating those pop-ups from you own PC.

  • How can I import my iweb site into iweb on my new laptop?

I recently got a new MacBook Pro and transferred my files over from my PBG4 12-inch (great little laptop). However my iWeb files/site didn't seem to transfer over to my laptop. I found the files of on my PBG4, and thought I placed them in the correct folder on my one.
Every time I open iWeb it asks to start a new site. How can I import my old iweb site into it and continue with it? Is there a way of doing it? I've a read a few posts some talk about the file 'Domain' in the Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If I copy that file over to my new MacBook Pro, will my site be in iWeb again? I greatly appreciate some advice. Thanks.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Isotopecrunch,
    Welcome to the iWeb forums!
You are correct about referring to the Domain file; this is the file that contains all of your work created in iWeb, and the file that needs to be transferred to your new MacBook. There are some notes on how to do this here.
Take the time also to make back up copies of this file, and keep them in a safe place.

  • How do I get my old web1. sites into my iWeb08 sidebar so I cn work on them

My laptop was just upgraded to iweb 08 and I have 4 sites that I made using iweb1.something but my old sites are not in the sidebar to work on and update. I tried dragging the url over but it doesn't work. I am not finding any info with searches or looking through the forum
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Lynnette

    Hi Lynnette,
The only way to get iWeb pages back to iWeb and edit those pages is to double-click the Domain.sites2 file where iWeb stores its files. To find that file go to
    User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2
If you can’t find it here search for it with spotlight. Note that the extension .sites or .sites2 may be hidden, also search for Domain only.
To get the site showing up in iWeb just open the Domain.sites file by double clicking on it and your sites and pages will show up on the left side in the iWeb page browser. Note that the location, where you put the file, doesn’t matter.
If you don’t have this file anymore and did not make a Backup of it but the website still is on the .Mac or on another server the only thing you can do is copy&paste the content from the pages to new pages in iWeb. You shouldn’t do that by selecting all and then paste it into iWeb, it’s gonna be a mess. The best way to do it is text field by text field. The pictures can be transferred by drag&drop.

    Cédric

  • BEWARE: Loss of metadata when opening OnLo CS4 project in OnLo CS5

I had recorded a large number of takes over a two day shoot into OnLo CS4. I was pretty detailed as I shot the takes, using the comment, description, and good fields to mark notes to myself--it was going to make post-production much faster and easier. I primarily used the Description field to mark which part of a take was usable.
I recently installed CS5 and opened up my CS4 project into it. To my dismay, none of the Description fields in 250+ takes were populated. In looking at the SMVP "clip info" files, I've noticed that they were all rewritten during the project conversion process--the "Description" fields are there, but OnLocation will not read them. Opening the original project in CS4 has the same effect--the Description field is blank.
How can I gain access to this crucial metadata? Without it, I'll add hours and hours of logging to my job, which is going to offset a deadline I was already sweating. If it can't be fixed, there is no way I can ever trust OnLocation again in my workflow.

I too, am having problems with meta data  generated in On Location.
My Panasonic AG DV-1000 is not supported under windows 7, so I drop into Win XP to acquire clips in On Location CS4.
I then switch to Win 7/64 and import the clip into CS 5 On Location. I then make notes in On Location CS5.
When I import the clip into Premier CS5, all the notes are gone, even though, if I re-open the on Location CS5 project, the notes are all there.
    Suggestions?

When I try to Bookmark a new page, I do not get the "Page Bookmarked or Edit This Bookmark" window. I t does place the site into my bookmarks but I have to go to "organize" bookmarks in order to put it where it belongs.

How are you saving a new bookmark?
There 5 ways to save a new Bookmark in Firefox, the first 4 should offer to save the new bookmark in a folder:
    1.
    2. Right-click and select Bookmark this Page.
    3. Bookmarks > Bookmark this Page
    4. Double-click the Star that is on the right side of the Location bar.
4a. (A single-click on the Star will save the new Bookmark to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder, without opening the Edit this Bookmark dialog.)
    5. Drag the website image in the URL bar into the Sidebar view of Bookmarks
or to the Bookmarks menu bar item and then into the drop-down or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar

    iag,
You may start looking at recovery methods as the ones described in these links (although the cases dealt with differ form yours, you may do something similar):
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-illustrator-files.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/opening-illustrator-file-get-error.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/enable-content-recovery-mode-illustrator.html
    http://daxxter.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/how-to-recover-a-corrupted-illustrator-ai-file/
It is difficult work, but it may be worth it.
Working with the code, one specific way is to create a new empty document and create some very simple artwork in a copy of it (to see where the actual contents go), then move code from the corrupt file into the empty document and see what may be recovered that way.
Hopefully, this will appear less woolly once you start on it.
Edit: almost an hour after midnight here so I have to attend to other duties. The very best of luck.

  • Openning up a site with iweb

o.k. I need some expert help. This is too simple of a problem. My iweb appears where it should on the web, at: http://web.mac.com[yourmembername]
However when I open up my iweb, the site that is listed was just a test site. I went into my idisk and the site files for iweb are there and seem fine. (I can click on the html and the pages appear as they should.
Here is my question, how in the world can I open up my site that I want to work on. The site defaults to my test site. I have tried everything I can think of, dragging, tried to delete the old site etc.
It would be nice if the answer were simple like "file open"
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Double-click on the Domain file and it'll reset the default location of where iweb reads that file from.
If you double clicked on a Domain file that was in a different location other than your user/library/application support/iweb folder and worked on it then closed iweb then the next time you open iWeb it'll look for the Domain file in this new location but if you've moved it again since the last time you opened iweb and you open iWeb then iweb will just start a new Domain file at the default location.
What you need to do is double-click the Domain file you'd like iWeb to open.

  • Opening photos from Lightroom into Camera Raw?

    Hello!
I have a little problem since I upgraded to CS4.
I used to open my (RAW) photos from Lightroom (2) into Camera Raw - it did it automatically when I clicked "edit in photoshop". Now it doesn't work anymore, and I have no idea why - it opens the pictures directly into Photoshop. I was told in the Lightroom forum that it's a functionality that was changed in CS4 and that I wouldn't be able to get to Camera Raw from Lightroom anymore.
However, I really liked my old workflow Lightroom > Camera Raw > Photoshop, and I much prefer CR's interface, so if anybody's got an idea on how to fix this, or get it to work again, it would be really great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Maybe the following would help.
    1. In lightroom, go to: Photo>Edit In>Open as Smart Object in Photoshop.
    2. Once the photo is in photoshop, double click the Smart object thumbnail in the layers panel to open camera raw.

  • Interesting experience splitting domain.sites into two sites

Just thought I would share this interesting experience...
I have a whole bunch of separate .sites files. (I use iWebSites to do this) I publish them all to .mac but without any difficulty, overwriting, etc. but keep them separate just for ease of use in iWeb.
I had a .sites file with two websites in it that I wanted to split into separate .sites files. I duplicated the .sites file and opened each one up in iWeb and deleted "half." Then I made a change on one of them and published it. The other "half" disappeaered online!!! I opened the other one and republished and the first one disappeared.
I was able to rename one of them and the problem was eliminated. But I thought this was interesting! When advising people on how to split domain.sites, keep this in mind!

I took the suggestion from this thread (thanks to JAMES and VARKGIRL) to upload more sites into .Mac, keeping them in separate domain files.
It works: the only downside is that iWeb will put as FIRST SITE (reachable when you enter http://web.mac.com/"yourlogin") the first "site" of the last domain file you create.
If the first site appearing when using your "basic" URL is important to you, you can solve this by copying/re-creating the same first "site" in all of your new domain files.
I did that with mine (http://web.mac.com/luigi.adami/) and it worked.
I now have two domain files containing the sites:
    web.mac.com/luigi.adami/FANFIC/home/
    web.mac.com/luigi.adami/RPS/home/
As I wanted to split my original domain file in smaller ones, the problem remains, though.
In fact, the idea of splitting the site by duplicating/deleting/republishing has only sense if you have a small site. Mine is over 250 MB and it would be a nightmare to republish every single part. It would make more sense to delete the various reduntant parts after having duplicated the original files and then prevent iWeb from updating (t.i. deleting) the site.
I knew there was a prepublishstate.plist file you could delete to do that but I cannot find it anymore (was it removed after one of the last iWeb updates?).
If I was able to make iWeb believe there is nothing to update, the trick explained in this thread would really work.
    Any idea?

I was getting an error on my iMac computer when trying to open up CS4. I deleted the files and reinstalled 3 times and still getting error and unable to upload file. Please help. I have done the steps that the customer care site told me to, but still errors!

If you deleted files it is not a good thing.  You need to uninstall, run the adobe script cleaner, then reinstall.

  • Unable to open AE CS4 on Mac

Hi I have just opened my brand new Master collection CS4 for Mac and have successfully loaded everything onto my brand new Macbook. I have just tried to open the AE software with no luck! the animation at the bottom of the screen on the icon starts to flash but then nothing. i tried opening Photoshop and On location and had no problem opening any of the other software in the collection, it just seems to be AE and the one piece of software i bough the collection for. I don't think there is a problem with my spec's on my Macbook and i have more then enough space on my HD. I am running Mac OS X version 10.6.2 i don't know if this might have something to do with the problem. anyone have any idea what i can do?
    Cheers

Try applying the 9.0.2 update. Choose any other Adobe product that launches and go to the Help->Updates menu. That will launch the updater and grab the patches. Many products needed to be patched to work well with 10.6.2 so you'll want to grab them all.
