Open file browser?

Hello all!
I'm currently trying to create an interactive cd-rom using
flash. The dilemma I've come across is opening windows' file
browser to the cd's root. I can get it to open file browser using
an external .exe file. I'm guessing it's going to have to be
written in the .exe however, I don't have the expertise to know
how. I'm guessing one of you flashers on here have accomplished
this already!

Open file/browse-file dialog window size too small

It seems like the size of the "Open file" and "Browse file"-dialog windows have become too small to use efficiently.
I'm not sure if this is related to the latest updates from testing, but it wasn't like this before. I have to resize the dialog window every time in order to be able to select files and folders.
The changes are not saved across the same session of a program, but it does result in unpredictable behavior in gedit.
If I resize the open file dialog, then close the dialog, then open it again, the changes are sometimes preserved, but not always. Sometimes it's small and sometimes it's resized, and there's no way of telling.
I'm running compiz-fusion and emerald, but the bug is not related to window manager, as it's the same with metacity and openbox. So it's for all GTK programs.
When I try to run gnome-appearance-properties, I get:
"Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'.
Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager."
and the problem remains no mather what GTK theme I choose.
Is gnome-settings-daemon responsible for this kind of behavior?

The issue was resolved by updating all to gnome-desktop 2.24 from testing..
Seems like the swedish repository mirrors are a bit left behind..

Newb needs help opening file browser and getting full file name and path.

Ok, so I'm a TOTAL newb here, but I have managed to get it to open a file browser but all I can seem to get it to do is give me the NAME of the selected file *eg. selectedFile.name* I also need the path of the file as in C:\example\file.mp3.
The program I'm making plays an MP3 of your choice at a certain time, like an alarm clock. But I got tired of entering the file path of the MP3 EACH time so I wanted to have a browse feature.
Ideas... help... thanks...

Crashing when opening file browser

When ever i try to send a file or chang my profile picture, it wont open the file browser. Instead sykpe crashes everytime. Help?

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool. Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post. Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Opening File browser(s) from a projector

Hello everyone,
I need some help, if it's possible
Challenge:
I have a projector file that from within it I need the end user to be able to click a button and open either Macintosh's Finder or Window's Explorer applications. I would be supremely happy with just getting this far, allowing the user to then navigate to where they need to get to. Extra super duper credit would be to get the file browsers to open to specific file location on the DVD the project will be playing on.
Basically, I have some midi files in a folder on the CD in their own folder that the end user will need to copy to their hard drive. The client wants a button that will essentially open the file browser right to the folder with the midi files. This of course would be after an explanation as to why and what they need to do that for.
I've considered using BuddyAPI, FileIO and other..but I'm striking out everywhere...
Any suggestions?

Would there ever be a case where explorer.exe and Finder.app are not in the specified locations? Would it be better to figure out how to open the file browsers with BuddyAPI?
As far as copying the files for the end user I considered that, however the nature of the exercise that will require them to copy files is somewhat dependant on the end users additional software install locations as well as the files the end user wants to use. So, I figured I'd open the file browser after giving them detailed instructions on what the files are and how to use them. Plus I imagine that with as many files as there are I'd have to build some sort of list in Director making it selectable (single or groups) and then building all sorts of additional functionality for moving, copying, etc the files.
I'm a bit new to the Macintosh OS could someone share some code with the correct syntax to call Finder.app on a Macintosh?

Error message when opening File Browse

I get this message "Error2: Photoshop is undefined. Line:1 - photoshop.invokeBridge (false, false)". Anyone know what the issue is here? THANKS in advance.

4.0EA3 : Unable to access mapped drives (Windows) in file browser dialogs

All File Browser dialogs only allow access to by local C: (hard disk) and D: (DVD) drives. It is not possible any more to access mapped drives (which are referencing UNC paths to our file server) - i.e. Network drives.
I have tried the following accesses to the File Browser:
File -> Open : Does not work
File -> Data Modeler -> Open : does not work
Tools -> Preferences -> Environment -> Log -> Log Directory -> Browse : does not work
This worked/works fine in SqlDev 3.2.2
I tried to rule out connection/authentication problems to our SAN (the network drives are fully accessible from Windows Explorer and even JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0) - I created a drive mapping to a share on my local hard disk. Can't see this mapping from within SqlDev either
Problem occurs on Win7 64-bit
Looking forward to Oracle feedback or to see if other users find the same issue

No - the location drop-down only shows my C: (Hard Drive) and D: (DVD Drive).
With further playing, I did find that if I qualify a script on a network file share with the full UNC path, it successfully opens the script.
The problem is that I cannot navigate to locations on mapped drives.
Having successfully opened a sample script, there is now a shortcut to the folder/directory of my shared scripts in the left pane of the open (file browser) dialog box. Its a good workaround.

File Server Role: Slow access for "opened files" and slow Explorer browsing

Since we migrated our fileserver from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 we are facing two major problems:
1. Opening files which are already opened by other users takes about 1 minute before the file actually opens. This is not only for Office files such as Excel and Word, but also for other (not office) files. Again, this problem only rises when the file(s)
is/are already opened by another user. There seems to be a sort of "Lock" check time which is about 45 to 60 seconds.
2. The other problem is browsing via Explorer through the network drive (all clients are Windows 7 clients). Half of the time there is some kind of "hick up" with displaying the results of the folder. I cannot figure out a patern, but if there
is no "hick up" then browsing is very fast (also in the busiest times of the working day)... If there is a "hick up" the result can take about 50 seconds to display the content of a folder.
I suspect the SMB implementation / settings of Windows Server 2012 which are causing the problems...
Things I tried:
1. Changed the Oplocks wait time to 10 seconds (which is the minimum). The result is that openening files does indeed go some faster (still taking about 45 seconds).
2. Disabled SMB2: the result is that browsing is fast... Opening files does go faster. BUT: we are then facing other problems like some files are not able to open... This setting was, after getting a lot of complaints from the users, changed back to enabled
SMB2.
3. Within the NIC card properties I disabled "QoS packet Scheduler", "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver", "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder" and IPv6 (as we only use IPv4).
All above with not the promising results.
The server is a dedicated (virtual machine on vSphere 5.1) fileserver.
Please Advice since this is not workable, and we have postponed the migration of the fileserver for our aother location.

I suggest you disable all third party applications like Anti-Virus application to test if it could reduce the waiting time when accessing a file.

i have both "Excel services Application "& "Visio Graphics Service" running correctly.

Please try to reset the Internet Explorer settings or open Internet Explorer in In-Private browsing and then check if this issue occurs.
If the issue persists, please try to access SharePoint in another computer with Office 2013 and then check if this issue occurs. Or repair Office and restart your server.

PDF File not opening in browser for sharepoint 2010

Recently we have moved our web application from one server to another in Sharepoint 2010. Back up of entire web application was taken and restored in another server. But in the new server , the PDF files in the document library is not getting opened in browser.

I have already made following changes but didn,t work
Set browser file handling to Permissive from central admin
Set "open in browser" in setting s of doc library
Set the doc library file handling property using $docLib = $web.lists["Your Document Library Title"] $docLib.BrowserFileHandling = "Permissive" $docLib.Update()
Added "AllowedInlineDownloadedMimeType.Add("Application/Pdf") in web app
Installed Adober eader in client machine
Even after trying all these, the PDF files are still opening in Client application(Adobe reader) but not in the browser
It would have been great help if anybody provide a solution for this. I have been banging head on this for two days

Open Cursor Issue because of file browse Item - Is this a Bug in APEX 3.2

Hi All,
I am using file browse Item to upload file into the database at two places in my application, but it seems whenever I am submitting those two pages, with file path or without file path, its opening an cursor which remains open after that, because of this open cursor count in the application is getting exceeding every time.
For testing this I have made an dummy page containing just file browse item and submit button, and still it is increasing the open cursor count.
Is this a bug in Apex file browse item or there is some other way to handle this.
Please kindly help me in the above issue as this is affecting the production application.

Hi,
One observation, Apex is switching the Session ID after one got killed ? I was working on Apex page with browse Item to test open cursor count,
after killing the SID (227) on which the open cursor count was getting increase, it APEX automatically switches to new SID(149) for that session.
Now the problem is even if I have two SID's and one hits the maximum open cursor count, It is not switching to other SID instead the whole application becomes unavailable.

Suddenly I can no longer open files, blick browse to open, or CTRL-O to open

I have not added any add-ons or extentions lately, and no updates lately within Firefox. Internet Explorer is working OK. Within my web email for example I need to browse to add attachments, and as of today Firefox will not allow this. When I click Open File nothing happens.

Does 6.0.2 have a problem with upload/browse buttons on sites or the save as/open file/export bookmark option or is it just me?

The box to select a file from/to the HD doesn't open. I can't save pages, images, Export/Import the Bookmarks via HTML, open file (CTRL+O), upload images via a browse button on sites, etc. Since I don't have a printer Print print (CTRL+P) defaults to xps which requires a save as dialog.
Only in Firefox.

How to view .shtml files locally? I have added "Open in Browser" but still not able to see the local .shtml file.

I have added Open in browser add ons in Firefox browser, but still not able to see the .shtml files on local machine.
Can any one please tell me how to view .shtml files in Firefox?

SHTML files are regular HTML files that make use of Server-Side Includes. In some server configurations, the special file extension is required to instruct the server to parse the file for SSI code.
If Firefox doesn't recognize the file type, it is likely the MIME type is incorrect.
