Open fillable form on iPad from Website

I have a form on my schools website- http://s3.amazonaws.com/scschoolfiles/480/application_form.pdf -that will not open on an iPad, or in any web browser. I can download and open the form, but the teachers at the school would like their students to fill this out on their iPads. All of the iPads have the latest version of Adobe Reader, but the only thing I am able to get on the devices is the "Please wait....." message.

Ok, Thank You. I was thinking that might be the issue but wasn't positive.
Is there a way to create a fillable form that will not become a XFA file?

  • Can fillable forms be disabled from saving?

We are given fillable forms that we from time to time need to make changes to the information that has been filled into the boxes. We are using Reader to fill-in the forms, but can only print them. When we want to save them it will not allow us to save any of our changes. If this a function of Reader? If we used the Acrobat standard version would we be able to save the form and edit it again later?
    Thanks in advance.

I should have mentioned that Reader 11 can save a PDF form that was created with Acrobat (Acroform), as opposed to a PDF form created with Adobe's LiveCycle Designer (XFA form). So as long as the form was created with Acrobat, Reader 11 will be able to save it. If the form was created with LiveCycle Designer, it just needs to be Reader-enabled with Acrobat for it to be savable with Reader.

  • Fillable form on iPad doesn't print from Adobe Reader. Is there a fix yet?

I can fill in a fillable form but when I print it the filled-in text doesn't print. I just get a blank form. I'm using the latest Reader version on an iPad 2.  there a solution available yet?

It should work with the update to Reader 10.4. "Enhaned compatibility with AirPrint means improved printing of completed forms as well as documents with comments."
I don't have AirPrint on my printer to test. Is your printer AirPrint compatible?
I can get it to work with Printer Pro which I'm running on my iPad.

  • Prepopulating PDF Fillable Forms with data from XML files

How can I get a PDF fillable form to open pre-populated with data from an XML file automatically? I've been using Adobe Standard 9.0 and am willing to upgrade in a modest fashion if necessary. I am aware of the Navigation method > Forms > Manage Form Data > Import Data. This works fine, however, my users are not smart enough to do tis much clicking and selecting. Is there an automated way to have this XML data merged into the PDF file on the fly. These files will reside on an internal local area network and will be operated on local PC's that will probably have Acrobat Reader ONLY. I have been told that the only way to accomplish this is through Java Scripting. I would prefer to do this the 'old fashioned' way of command line switches, but that does not appear to be an option. Does anyone have a sample Javascript that would accomplish what I am trying to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Sharon
    The easiest way is:
    - Open your PDF form within Acrobat
    - From the File menu, import the XML form data into the form
    - From the File menu, use Save As... to save the file with a new name.
The new PDF will be identical to the original one, but will have the data embedded in it. Voila.
If you want the same form to pre-populate with different XML files depending on the circumstances, or if you're generating the XML on the fly, then things get more complicated. (And more expensive.) As your consultant said, LiveCycle Forms is one option, but it is expensive (actually even more than 10K). There are other options, including Cold Fusion, custom servlets, etc.

  • Can't open pdf form on iPad

I can open the pdf form on my laptop just fine, but when I try to open it on my iPad running iOS 6.1.2 and Adobe Reader 10.5.0, I get this error "If this mesage is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the doc, your pdf viewer may not be able to display this type of document." I did notice that when I open the pdf on my laptop, it pops up a note explaining what to enter for a particular field. Can the Reader iOS version not handle these pop-up notes on forms? Is this being worked on? Thanks.

I only know what's been said on the forums. I suspect that there will be support for static XFA forms in the future, though it seems like a lot of work for little return. I would be surprised if dynamic XFA forms are ever supported as it would be much more work, but the return may be greater. I hope that more support for JavaScript with Acroforms comes first.

  • Can Acrobt XI fillable forms be downloaded from a website

I just installed Acrobat XI. I want to have a filliable order form for my customers. Can forms created in FormsCenetral be used like forms in Acrobat X? Can I place them on my website with a link on a webpage for my customers to download, fill in, and return? Thanks. Jim

They can if you save them as PDFs (File > Save As PDF Form). You can of couse create forms in Acrobat 11 just as you could with previous versions.
For Reader users, the forms will have to be Reader-enabled with Acrobat (File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable More Tools) so that they can be saved. Reader 11, however, is able to save a non-enabled form.

  • Fillable forms on iPad

I'm using an iPad 2 with iOS 7 and Adobe Reader. I'm trying to fill in f1040.pdf from irs.gov but none of the fields respond to my touch. I just get the option to freehand draw or superimpose text on top. Am I missing something simple or is there a bug here?

Both PDFExpert 4.7 for iPhone and PdfExpert 5.X for iPad say it can fill out forms
    http://readdle.com/products/pdfexpert5/
I don't know the mechanism as I've never tried but I have 4.8 version for iPhone and the 5.0 version for iPad.
I am only giving this suggestion because Adobe does appear to have any interest in doing anything other than creating a Reader for IOS. When the come out with a legit Acrobat Version for IOS I will recommend Acrobat for iPad on that day.

With Adobe Reader 9.4, I get a message saying There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. No problems opening PDFs from IE9. Is this a bug in FF4? Why is that you want to open a FMB in Form Builder with a Batch file?
Is it that your application has only one FMB and that you work with only one FMB all the time?
    Cheers,
PS: And if you must open the FMB through a batch file then look up the Form Builder Help for "Command Line options". It is an excellent resource.

  • Collecting intact responses from a fillable form

How can i distribute the fillable form through a company website but receive submitted responses to an email address?  I need the completed questionnaire to remain intact.  FormsCentral sorts the form's responses which doesn't work for our purposes.

You can set up a button with a "Submit a form" action and use a mailto type URL to specify the email address you want the forms sent do. Once you have the form all set up, you need to Reader-enable it as the final step. This thread shows how with several versions of Acrobat. You then have to send the form to your users or make it available on a web site.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Dynamic XML forms & Apple iPad

Are Adobe LiveCycle Dynamic XML forms viewable/useable by Apple iPad and Apple phone or other mobile devices?

According to Adobe, you can with LiveCycle ES4. At least, that's how I read their blog post on ES4 Mobile forms support.
Of course, there have been several discussions started about this in the Adobe forums.
Re: Unable to view the form in Mobile which was created using LiveCycle

  • Exchange server damages Word files - cannot be opened on Word for iPad anymore

    Dear all,
I posted the following problem in the Office for iPad forum and was asked to address this topic here as well. Probably you can help?
In my office we are using Word 2007 to create ordinary .docx files. When I email such a file to my iPad I cannot open it neither in the Mail.app preview nor in Word for iPad.
Mail.app tells me its an "Office Open XML word processing document" and Word just tells me the file is damaged. However the files opens just fine in various versions of Word for PC and Mac.
Does anyone know what is happening here? I bought Office for iPad especially to being able to open the word files I create in my office... :-(
    Additional info:
    I ran the following test:
I took a .docx file I created on my office PC which was stored on our server and saved it locally to my PC harddrive. I then saved a copy as .doc as well. Then I emailed both files to my office Outlook account AND my iCloud account (with one email).
BOTH files did NOT open in Word for iPad from my Outlook account (Exchange Server) but BOTH files just opened fine from my iCloud account.
I then forwarded the email from my Outlook account to my iCloud account and now BOTH files did NOT open on the iPad anymore.
So it seems that my Outlook account (Exchange server) corrupts the files so they cannot be opened on the iPad anymore, while they can still be opened on a PC or Mac.
Do you have any ideas to solve that issue?
It cannot be that Office for iPad doesnt work in combination with an Exchange Server Outlook Account, can it?
    best regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi,
I suggest doing following test and returning the results to me.
    1. Please using OWA to open the .docx file on both PC and iPad via your Exchange account.
If the file can be opened in OWA. I suggest asking ActiveSync Forum for help so that we can get more professional suggestions.
    For your convenience:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/home?forum=exchangesvrmobility
    2. Please verify whether this issue occur on only one user (your Exchange account). If only you have this issue, it should be an issue on your Exchange account or your iPad.
    3. Please try to use other's iPad for test. If the file can be opened on other's iPad, it seems an issue on your iPad.
    Thanks
