Open Firefox But Didnt Open Previous Tabs Directly

I always keep facebook as my last tab before I close firefox. When I open firefox, it will go to google.com/firefox then it jump into facebook.com. Previously it was automatically load facebook only, but these days, it will go google.com/firefox first. It wasnt as direct as last time and I find it annoying, Please help.

It is possible to toggle the preference to make sure on Start up the next time you use Firefox that the tabs from last time open up.
In the Firefox Menu please navigate to Options then the General Tab.
From here, under "Start up" please select "show my windows from last time."
If there is still an issue with the homepage Firefox Reset [[Reset Firefox preferences to troubleshoot and fix problems]] may also help.

If you use [[Clear Recent History]] in Firefox 3.5 and later to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox then restoring tabs from the last session ("Save & Quit" or "Show my windows and tabs from last time") doesn't work.

This last Firefox update was totally useless, all Firefox updates destroy my previous tabs without warning and are therefore extremely disruptive. I lose information that will take time to recover. Firefox should give warning to its users so that vital information can be saved before updating their tab system.+

Firefox should not lose your open tabs when it updates. <br /> (That is not to say it always succeeds)
I know Firefox will sometimes remove stored open tabs with updates, and I think Firefox 29 itself had a particular issue with the open tabs.

  • Every time I start FF, it opens previous tabs. How do I clean memory?

    I use Firefox 4.0
It seems that FF remembers all the previous tabs after I close the browser. Some of the tabs I do not want, but every time I open FF - it re-opens these tabs. When I used previous version of FF, when closing the browser there was option to close and remember the pages or not. The 4.0 version seems like does not have this feature. At least I was unable to find it.

It sounds like you have Firefox set to show your windows and tabs from last time, you can change that:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to either "Show my home page" or "Show a blank page"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Each time I open Safari it opens all the tabs from my previous session. I've looked at every setting I can think of but can't find one that will stop this from happening. What am I missing? Is anyone else also having this problem and if so, what did you do to correct it?

And ofcourse I found the answer as soon as I posted the question (doesn't it always happen that way?). I went to Preferences - General -  and checked the box "Close windows when quitting an application".

  • Firefox will not open old tabs

My computer crashed last evening and on restarting firefox, it goes to a new page without any of the old tabs available. Going under history has all of the options regarding restoring recently closed windows greyed out.
I did confirm that under preferences it is set to open previous tabs on starting firefox.
I have had the sessionstore.js file get corrupted previously. Looking in the profile folder showed the sessionstore.js to be a 1k file. So my first instinct was to just restore that file, and fortunately, there is a sessionstore.bak file with a time late last PM, so that file should still contain my last session.
I made a copy of the sessionstore.bak file and renamed it to sessionstore.js, but firefox still opens with a fresh session. I had the windows explorer (i.e. file manager) window open and as firefox was starting, the sessionstore.js got clobbered back to a 1k file suggesting the firefox is clearing the last session on opening. I tried restoring sessionstore.js from sessionstore.bak another time and making sessionstore.js read only, but firefox still will not revert back to the previous browsing session; instead it creates a new file called sessionstore.js.tmp.
I'm at a loss as to how to get my old browsing session back. I'm still using firefox V28.0. I haven't upgraded to V29 due to not wanting to lose the ability to export tabs as reported in the reviews of the android version of V29. Operating system is Win 7 SP1.

If Firefox won't read the file when it's named sessionstore.js, it may have a structural problem. In that case, a little surgery might be needed, but it's hard to know what to suggest without more information.
Could try one of the data mining techniques in these posts to rescue the URLs from the sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file:

  • Why is Firefox always displaying previous tabs when it opens?

After I use Firefox and close the browser, the next time I open the browser it will reload ALL the tabs I had open previously. I have turned off this feature in the "options", but it's not working. ALSO, if I click on any link which is going to open a new window of Firefox, it will not go to that website, but instead load all the tabs that were open previously....again!

  • Firefox always opens all previous tabs when starting

I've been using Firefox for quite a while, but it has recently begun opening every previously open tab when I restart a session. I only want the tabs I selected for my home page to open. I've tried going to the options and selecting "Show a blank page" on startup, but even that is ignored and all of the prior tabs open on each new start. I've rebooted the computer and restarted Firefox, but the problem remains.

Disabling the Add-ons didn't help, but the Firefox reset fixed the problem.
    Thank you!
