Open firefox takes me to last page viewed before I closed

I just installed Firefox (have used before with no problems)
Latest version.
Couple days its OK But now,
when I log on it takes me to a particular page I was on a few days ago. Always the same page which has a few tabs open. None are my home page. Like the 'restore to where I was before the crash' option that I have gotten in the past when Firefox had to close unexpectedly. I have tried to re install, but it remembers that old set of tabs I was on a few days ago.
I have erased history and that doesn't help either. I carefully close off all the tabs and go to my home page before logging off,
and the next time I long on I am back to that same set of tabs that has been frozen somewhere in Firefox memory.
What can I do, short of deleting Firefox and reinstalling from scratch,
Thanks

Hey Lmunro,
You should take a look at [[How to set the home page]]. The first thing I would try is:
# At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
# Select the General panel.
# In the Startup box, click Restore to Default.
That will reset any items that might have been set as your homepage for one reason or another. This will give you the option to set a new homepage as well.
In the section that says "When Firefox Starts:" be sure that you have selected "Show my homepage" and you should be set.
Hopefully this helps!

  • Suddenly Firefox starts with the last page viewed.

I'm running Firefox 24.0 on Windows 7. Suddenly when I start Firefox I wind up on the last page viewed, tabs and all. I went to Options, set it to blank. Went to about:config and made the change there. No luck.
I'm not certain, but I think this started with this week's Microsoft download.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

  • Why is it that Safari 5.1 won't load my homepage? It only brings up the last page viewed.

After upgrading to Lion, Safari won't load my homepage. I have one set. I've even changed it to see if Safari is biased against Google, but no, when I quit Safari and then re-open it, I get the last page viewed not my homepage. I have a home page for a reason. I like to start from there.

What worked for me was going to System Preferences, General tab, uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps", then I shut down my computer and when I turned it back on, it worked, I was back on my home page when I started Safari.  I probably would have worked if I just restarted my computer, but I went the long route.

Depends what OS X and Browser you are using?
If you are on Snow Leopard (10.6) and Safari (5.1.7) then open Safari Preferences, select the General tab and make sure that:
    1. Safari opens with: A new window
2 New windows open with: Homepage
    3. Homepage: is set to the desired https: site

  • How to create a 'Last Page Viewed' button

I would like to create a last page viewed button which can be placed at the footer of each page of a document.  I currently write user manuals running into hundreds of pages which all contain hyperlinks at various points.  For example, a list of drawings when clicked will jump to whichever drawing has been selected. In this case I need to provide the user with a method of jumping back to the original list.  As this drawing may also have a link from elsewhere in the manual  the button should take the user to the last viewed page rather than any specific location.
I hope this makes sense, any suggestions appreciated.

Currently using Acrobat XI Pro and Win 7

This has nothing to do with HTML.
In Form Edit mode, create your button on the first page, then go to its
Properties, Actions tab, and add a new Mouse Up action with the "Execute a
menu item" command. From the list that pops up select "View>Page
Navigation>Previous View". Set the button's caption and other properties
and then exit the Properties dialog. Now right-click the button and select
"Duplicate Across Pages". This will allow you to create identical copies of
this button on all the pages in the file.

  • Despite setting a Home Page Firefox always opens in the last page viewed. How do I solve this?

I have followed the instructions for setting a Home Page. Firefox always opens in the last page I viewed. Clicking on the Home icon does take me to my Home Page once Firefox has opened.

You can check if you have an user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.
Your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there.
you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • When openning firefox from the task bar it opens to the last page viewed how can I change that

Whenever I open Firefox from the taskbar or the desktop icon it opens to the last session pages. Is there a way to change that back to the homepage.

hello svicinanza, that is probably caused by the user.js file in your profile (it shouldn't be present anyway in case you haven't created it manually, since it can be used to overwrite your custom preferences).
in order to resolve that, go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', click on ''profile folder/show folder'' and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there delete the file named '''user.js''' and restart the browser.

  • Firefox wont always restart on the home page - goes back to the last page viewed

will close firefox, and when i reopen it, it will reopen on the last page rather than what i have set it up for our home page..

  • Why does Firefox take me to a page that says, "Oops Page cannot be found" when I click on a link in a secure site. Not with IE: only Firefox.

If I go to a secure site and click on a link, it take me to "Oops Page cannot be found". I have reset Firefox, uninstalled it and re installed it, disabled my Add Ons, and every other suggestion from the forum. Nothing works and this does not happen with IE. Is the bottom line that I must use IE for these sites? I would prefer Firefox but cannot solve this problem.

Did you disable all the extensions before restarting?
If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
    *all extensions are disabled
*the default theme is used (no persona)
    *userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored
*the default toolbar layout is used (localstore-safe.rdf)
*the Javascript JIT compiler is disabled
    *hardware acceleration is disabled
    *plugins are not affected
    *preferences are not affected
