Open forms designer in Xwindows mode

I have reflectionx installed on my client system and need to
open forms designer through xwindows? I am not able to get
f4desm to work at the reflextionx login prompt. Is there a path
that needs to be set on the server? Please let me know. Thanks
in advance.
Shree

Pretty much yes - there is a character mode runtime executable which runs on the Unix server and you can use a standard VT termianl to run a session on that Unix box and run a Form.

  • Open forms designed by Livecycle Designer in ipads

    hi everyone,
I've got a few dynamic forms that were designed using the Livecycle Designer ES and its requirement is at least a version of adobe acrobat 8.1. I have some users having trouble opening these forms using ipad although they have got the latest adobe version installed. I dont have an ipad and not sure. Can some one advise if there is a limitation to the adobe readers in ipads? what can these users do to resolve it? what are the common problems with opening these advanced froms from ipads?

    Hi
This doesn't solve your immediate problem, but we do have a tool that allows you to build forms and output them in both PDF(XFA), or HTML. We support several flavours of HTML, including desktop style and tablet style. This allows you to build your forms once, and have them work both within Reader and also on an iPad or other device.
You can find out more by clicking the links below.

Can anyone who is having these issues send the crash dump to [email protected] and I will forward them to R&D for investigation.
Here are instructions on where and how to get the dump files.
    =================================================================
Sometimes it is useful to capture an ad-hoc minidump file from FormDesigner when it crashes. Here are instructions for doing this on Vista, and XP.
On Vista 32 bit, wait for the app to crash, and while the "your app has crashed" dialog is still visible, go to Task Manager process list, right click on FormDesigner .exe, and select "Create Dump File' from the context menu. After the dump file is written, its location will be shown in a second dialog box. The "designer crashed" dialog can then be dismissed.
For Vista 64 bit, I think the dump files produced this way are probably not useful, because they will show stacks for the "64 bit side" of the 32 bit process, which is not what we want to look at. For Vista64, it is probably necessary to attach a real debugger to FormDesigner .exe and write a dump file.
On XP, if the default drwtsn32 post-mortem debugger is installed, the dump of the last crash is available at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\user.dmp". If the user has installed a different post-mortem debugger (e.g. visual studio) or disabled things somehow, then an ad-hoc dump can be made by waiting for the "designer crashed" dialog, and leaving that open. Then go to task manager's process list and note the process ID of FormDesigner .exe. Then bring up a command prompt and type:
    Drwtsn32 -p designer_PID
where designer_PID is the process ID of FormDesigner .exe found in task manager. After that, the "designer crashed" dialog can be closed, and the dump will be found in "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\user.dmp".
Along with the crash dump file, you should provide the exact build number of the FormDesigner executable you are running (e.g. 8.2 is not sufficient.) You can find the build number by right clicking on FormDesigner .exe and looking at the "Details" tab. It's the "Product Version" entry.

Updated Windows RT 8 to 8.1
Uninstaled Adobe Reader Touch 1.3 and instaled 2.0 Build 84770
    Additional Information
The form was created 10 or 11 months ago, and we are pretty sure that we were able to open it a while back
The same PDF file opens just fine in Windows 8.1 using Adober Reader XI 11,0.06, it is only the app that is affected.
The document cannot be opened by any other mobile app that we have tried or on another mobile OS (iOS)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks & Regards

The user's assertion is surprising to me, but perhaps I'm missing something important. I thought the correct position was from the conclusion of my earlier post "it can't be done". Adobe state their Reader Touch doesn't support XFA (http://blogs.adobe.com/readermobile/2012/12/13/adobe-reader-for-windows-8-tablets/). Unless (see that blog entry) you changed the type of form.

  • Report opens in "Design" mode and throws error

    Hi All,
One of my user gets an attached error when he opens a report. I noticed that, this happens because his report always open in "Design" mode. Now when we click on "Reading" mode, it works fine.
Also, this behavior is happening only for one report. What can be the issue ? Is there a way in settings that I can do, so that the report always opens in "Reading" mode.

  • Error: Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working

I have read a lot of different responses regarding this and related issues but none of the answers seem to be relative to my specific problem. Here is what I have done so far:
    a. I just finished loading Oracle 11g 64x enterprise on my laptop running windows 7. It loaded correctly and I was able to import my 10g data dump and set up my schema.
    b. I then installed the Oracle development suite: ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1 and disk2. There were some minor issues regarding compatibility but following the advise of one post, I checked the blocks in question and the software loaded fine.
    c. I also attempted to install the p5969392_10123_WINNT.zip file but it gave a message indicating that no updates applied. (I am not sure if this is the correct patch or not?)
    d. I also had to download and install the Sun SDK, v6.18.
    e. I also updated the ORACLE paths in the default.env and registry entries and tried different urls in the runtime preference block. Nothing helped and I stayed with the default.
Oracle Forms seems to startup correctly and I am able to connect to the database with no problem. Although I did not build a new form completely, it appears that this would be no problem.
    The problem:
The problem is that when I attempt to open a form that was previously developed in 10g on XP, I immediately get the "Oracle Forms Designer has stopped working" error and Forms Builder shuts down. I get the same error whether I attempt to open a library, menu, or form.
I have tried changing the compatibility mode from XP, service pack 3 (the default after install) to XP, service pack 2 but it made no difference.
If anyone has been able to work through this issue, please let me know how. Thanks

  • Pdf reader requirements for forms designed in Livecycle

    HI guys,
I have designed a few dynamic pdf forms that was developed using Livecycle Designer ES. These forms are online fillable forms and I will be uploading these on my site so my users can open these forms in their browsers, complete the form online and print it out for their personal use. These forms are more like online tools for the users. For this, I also have to provide a Troubleshoot guide to my users so they can refer to this if they are unable to open the forms or having trouble viewing the forms properly. So right now I am working on creating this Troubleshoot documentation and I dont want to give the wrong info to my users so I have some clarifications and some doubts and wondering if you guys can help me out..
    1) From what I understand, I think the users need to have atleast a v.8.0 of Acrobat Reader in order to fill these dynamic forms that was designed in livecycle designer ES. This is right? I think so based on my memory since I believe I read this somewhere. Would you be able to clarify this? Have I got the right version?
    2) Also, further to this I understand that the users need to have an Acrobat reader browser plug-in in order to open the pdfs in their browsers. So, I will be adding a list of various pdf plug-in download links for various browsers.
    3) I was wondering, what happens if the user doesnt have acrobat reader installed in their computer? What are the common other pdf readers that various users use? I know there are tons out there but I am trying to understand the common ones that majority of the people use other than Acrobat Reader. I mean users having mac or other OS. Will these forms also work in other pdf readers? Is there are a list of various pdf readers & the versions requirements in order for these livecycle forms to work?
    4) Other than the above points, do you think if I need to mention anything else in the troubleshoot documentation? Any points I may have missed?
I am sorry..this is the first time I am uploading these online forms and I am trying to understand the requirements so I may be able to assist my users if they do experience any problems. So any help is very much appreciated!
    Thank you..

Some users are having problems viewing my forms I created using livecycle:
    1) I have a created a few dynamic forms designed using livecycle designer ES..In order for my users to open these forms, they need to have atleast Adobe acrobat / reader version 8.1 or higher to view these dynamic files. However, quite a few of my users are saying that they are still unable to open these forms directly from their browser although they have downloaded the latest Acrobat X version and the browser plug-ins in their computer. It happens to both windows and mac computers. But they are able to download these files and open it directly from their adobe reader though. It happens with all browsers for them...some of them have even called up mac support as well as adobe support and they were advised that it could be a problem with my forms that I find hard to believe since it opens in my computer and opens for a lot of other users. Its only a few users still having this difficulties and I can't understand why! They have also tried enabling "Adobe Reader" as a default problem to open pdf files by opening the adobe reader. They also have tried uninstalling and re-installing the readers and still the same problem. These LC files just dont open inside their browser for them.
    2) Also, I recently uploaded a dynamic file in acrobat file sharing. I noticed that when I click on this file sharing link, it also shows the message that I dont have the latest reader installed (something similar to what my users say about my forms), Why am I getting the below message when I have the latest adobe installed? I am able to open other dynamic xml forms in my browsers..why does this happen? I wonder if other user's problem who open my forms from my site is similar to this problem I have with acrobat file sharing...not sure... (example url: https://acrobat.com/#d=fs-E6Bqml8r0FWI8aMu09g )
To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of the PDF viewer. You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader from etc...etc...etc..
What can be the problem when the adobe version is already updated and also the plug-ins are updated too?? I have read a lot of links in adobe site itself which suggest various methods to test out the forms, browsers, plug-ins, etc..and I also understand that it doesnt work for iOS & Android devices, but this problem still happens to some users even after trying out these troubleshoots. Can someone plz explain if there are other limitations or solution for these users?

  • Planning Application Crashes While Trying to Open Form

    Hi All,
We are experiencing an issue where we cannot open up certain forms in Hyperion Planning that we were able to open up a few days ago. Nothing has changed from a database/server standpoint. Our JVM settings are set to 1,024 for both the min/max and we are still getting an OutOfMemoryError message. When we try to open up those forms that crash the system the Memory on the Planning service will spike to 3.5+GB. I have made modifications to both the Index and Data Cache settings, however, this did not fix the issue either. I do not know what else can be causing this issue. We are on 11.1.2.1 with an Windows OS (64bit). Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
    Thanks, John G.

Hi John, I just doubled our JVM setting to 2,048 for both the min/max and still have an issue. I know we have installed one of the patches that was released that was suppose to address the form performance, but there appears to be another patch set that came out a couple of months ago. We will have to try that one out and see if that resolves our issue. As I mentioned before, it is very strange that this issue just started happening on Monday and everything was working fine on Friday and nothing major was done to the data or outline.
I will have to look into the form design as you suggested. Currently, one of the forms that is causing the issue has the following setup:
    Point of View:
    Years (6 stored members) - Sparse "FY13"
    Scenario (6) - Sparse "Budget"
    Version (10) - Sparse "Working"
    Page:
    Period (13) - Dense
    Employee (3,771) - Sparse
    Row:
    Office (137) - Sparse
    Department (196) - Sparse
    Building (2,865) - Sparse
POV members are provided and Page dimensions are selected by the drop-down. Based on what the user selects it should bring back all of the Office/Department/Buildings for the selection. I know it's probably not a good idea to have this many sparse dimensions in the row, but we have not had any issues with it before.

I created a pdf form and then imported it to Forms Central for distribute. It is now loaded to my website and setup so a person clicks on the link to open the form. At this point they then have to go to upper right to open form using a different view. I would like the form to open directly in Adobe Reader form to make it easier to enter information. Thanks, Ike

If you created it in Forms Central, you have to edit it there. I believe Forms Central is similar to LiveCycle Designer in that the form created is no longer able to be edited in Acrobat. I might be wrong, but that is my understanding. You add the submit button in Forms Central. Within Acrobat, you should be able to go to the forms menu and Manage Data to save the data to an Excel file. Others better with forms should be by to clarify things, but this should get you started. In the future you might find it better to post a forms question in the forms discussions.

    Appreciate any responses.

    Movva

    Movva,
When you installed the Oracle Developers Suite (ODS) 10g, did you run the Installer as the Administrator? Also, are you on a company network or a personal computer? If on a network, you might be dealing with a permissions issue. The ODS needs full priviliges on all directories under the \DevSuiteHome10g directory. If you right click on the DevSuiteHome10g folder and change the permissions to full for your user account this should help. I encountered similar issues when we started testing Windows 7 Pro with ODS 10g. In some cases, I had to grant full priv's on some of the .jar files becuase changing the priv's at the folder level did not cascade correctly. Once I changed the priv's on all of the executable .jar files, the application worked fine.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • New! Import and Export Form Design Files

You can now export your form design to a Design File . You or other users can import the Design file and create a new form file from it.
    Use Cases / Benefits
You can share your designs as templates for others to easily re-use
You can create corporate branded form templates that can be used by your company's employees
You can archive your form designs locally for later use
    How It Works
To export a design file open a form file, go to the Design tab and select “Export Design File…” from File menu. The file extension of the exported Design File will be ".FCDT" - FormsCentral Design Template.
To import a design file go to the “My Forms” dashboard and select “Import Design File…” from File menu. Select the desired .FCDT file.
NOTE: The FCDT file contains the form Design only – it does not contain options, responses or summary reports.
This feature is availabe to free and paid users of FormsCentral.
Please send us your feedback on this feature. Enjoy!

    Hi
It states that you can save your design and open it "This feature is availabe to free and paid users of FormsCentral" but it is greyed out on the free version. Will not let me import design I created. I had issues with the first design and tried to redesign and ended up with more issues that combined the first design with the second design.
Can someone assist me with this, please,
Thank you for your time and consideration,
    L.McD

  • Form enhancement in "Add" mode

A form loads in "Add" mode and then the add-on adds some controls and sets their inital value. If the user then switches to find mode, or does a prev/next/last/first navigation an error message warns that the changes will be lost. Is there a way to prevent this message by putting the form back into the "clean" state it was in before the add-on modified it?
    Thanks for any help.
    Mel Dodd

As far as I know there are no way of getting rid of theis meesage on system forms... If it is your own for or your own items that cause the the changes then the AffectFormMode property might be your solution.
A little ugly but do-able workaround it to close the form with changes and open a new clean version (ActivateMenuItem)
