  • How to open an external file in Labview?

    Hi, Who knows how to open an external file in LabView? I want to open an .UDL file(data link API) which is a dialog window letting me input correlated database information, but I dont know how to open this type of file in my LabView Program.
    Thanks.

    A UDL is technically a text file, so you could open it with "Read Characters from file", put the result string into a string control, edit it and save it back using the "Write Characters to File".
    UDLs however have their own configuration dialog embedded in the Windows OS. You can use this dialog in your LabVIEW application. The attached VI shows how to create a new UDL. You can edit an existing UDL by switching the method node to PromptEdit and wiring in an open ADO connection reference.

  • Open Hub External System

    Hi,
    I have a basic requirement to extract data out of Open Hub into an external Oracle database. I have read previous threads online on this topic, but still have a couple of questions that are not clearly answered.
    Firstly, my client complies with all licensing arrangements to use Open Hub.They do not want to use flat files and they do not have access to tools like the Microsoft Connector described in many online blogs.
    Secondly, my client would like BW to kick off the process chain, load into an internal BW table, and then raise a trigger to the external Oracle database to come and "pull" the data from the newly created table. I am new to working with API's, but I read about standard API's been available to achieve this, but I would like some simple clarrification:
    - In my Process Chain, after I load the Open Hub data into the internal table, I want BW to use the API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY to tell the external system it's ready to pull the data. Reading the docu about this API, it seems like this needs to be initated from the external Oracle database. Is this correct (I would hope BW could do this) ? And if so, I dont know if my client has these API's on their Oracle system. How do I ensure they do ? I imagine they are freely available, but since I am not a DBA, and do not have access to someone who can tell me or not, I would like to know what the standard procedure for API communication is here. An example or white paper showing the API (with parameters) for a real life scenario would be ideal.
    - If the above does not work, even though they say the Microsoft connector tool can be used for Oracle, I am hesitant to use a Microsoft tool, when surely Oracle has their own free tool to do this - or can the Microsoft Connector integrate directly with an Oracle database ??????
    - When we refer to the term "Third Party Tool", does this mean a ETL tool like Informatica, or a connection tool like the Microsoft Connector, or the external database like the Oracle database in this example ?
    Any clarrification with the above would be most appreciated. I do not have access to a BW system yet, so I would like to know some of the details before I propose a potential solution.
    Thanks,
    BWPerson

  • Open Hub & flat file

    Hi All,
    How to perform flat file expatriations from BW utilizing the Open Hub Service (Infospoke). Can any one explain me step by step.
    Thanks,
    KN

    We use infospoke to archive the data from the datatarget into a flatfile or a database table.
    To create the infospoke select the tools menu -> open hub destination.
    Give the technical name and click on create.
    In the general tab select the type of the object and the name of the object from which the data is is to archived.In the destination tab select the file or the dbtable to which you want to move the data, and give the destination path.
    In the infoobjects tab select the objects you want and the order in which the file is to be generated.
    If you want to extract the data selectively ,you can give selections in the selections tab.
    Then activate the infospoke . Click on execute .The data will be moved to the destination in specified format

  • Open Hub Logical File Dynamics

    Hi all,
    I have a question with respect to the logical file names for open hubs.
    Do i have to define a logical file name in tx FILE for each openhub? Or is it possible to have just one logical file name entry which can be used by multiple open hubs? (so the openhub technical name is stored in the filename dynamically) For maintenance purposes this is more handy for me.
    Let me know if you have any idea!
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    F Geldof

    Hi Freekm, Ruben,
    Yes, to have a different logical file name for each OpenHub is a right way to do it. If you use a single logical file name for all your openhubs, i think it will be possible then only by reading the meta data file (Named as S_<FileName>) which is created along with your openhub file and placed in the same folder. This doesn't a look a good idea to me as having multiple logical names isn't a big task either.
    Hope it helped.
    Best Regards,
    Prashant

  • Opening an external file containing javascript code

    I'm trying to develop a PDF in two languages. When pushing a button, all questions and list-of-values for possible answers should be translated.
    I created and initialized several variables with the two language phrases with javascript. Everything is inside my code.
    Is there anyway that when a button is pressed an external file is read, bringing that javascript code for questions ans list-of-values? My concern is that currently I have a duplicated code, but if I want to implement three, four languages it will grow without control.
    This is an example I wrote in my code:
    var TxtAuxL1ESP = new Array();
    var TxtAuxL1ING = new Array();
    TxtAuxL1ESP[0]=", como ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[0]=", such as ";
    TxtAuxL1ESP[1]=": el último año ha obtenido ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[1]=": last year it obtained ";
    TxtAuxL1ESP[2]="%, en los últimos tres años ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[2]="%, in the last three years ";
    TxtAuxL1ESP[3]="% y en los últimos cinco años ";
    TxtAuxL1ING[3]="% and in the last five years ";
    if (P1.BtnIdioma.border.edge.stroke == "raised") {
        var TxtAuxL1=TxtAuxL1ESP;
        var TxtAuxL2=TxtAuxL2ESP;
        var TxtAuxL3=TxtAuxL3ESP;
    else {
        var TxtAuxL1=TxtAuxL1ING;
        var TxtAuxL2=TxtAuxL2ING;
        var TxtAuxL3=TxtAuxL3ING;
    What I was thinking is to store TxtAuxL1ING in one file, TxtAuxL1ESP in another file and read them from my javascript code inside the PDF. Is it possible?
    Regards
    JC

  • Open an external file with as2??

    Im building a portfolio on Flash.I have created my menu buttons and need to open files with doc, pdf, avi and swf extentions.
    So far I have been using the getUrl command and it seems to work for the pdf and swf. How can I get this to work for the other types?
    They all seems to work when I try them from my computer, but once they are burned in the cd, it fails miserably. Help!!!!

    adjust your security settings to allow your cd to be in the trusted zone and retest to confirm this is a security sandbox issue:

  • Omit the Open Hub control file 'S_*' for flat file extracts

    Hi Folks,
    a quick question is it somehow possible to omit the control file generation for flat file extracts.
    We got some unix scripts running that get confused by the S_* files and we where wondering if we can switch the creation of those files off.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Axel

    Hi,
    However, the S_ (structure) file does not reflect the proper structure. The S_ file lists all fields sorted in alphabetical order based on the field name, instead of listing all fields in the correct order that they appear in the output file.
    As I know and checked this is not the case. The S_ file has the fields in the order of infospoke object sequence ( and in transformation tab, source structure).
    I would suggest you to control it again.

  • How to append lines to an Open Hub File

    Hi Colleagues,
    I have to write data to an open hub destination file.
    Normaly file overwrite mode is used.
    But I need to append lines from multiple DTPs to one single file.
    So far, Open Hub Destination allows to add multiple DTPs, but how to configure BI, that all lines of every DTP are appanded to the file, and not only the last DTP wins.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • External files opening behind the projector

    I have used 'baOpenFile' function to open some external files
    (pdf, pps etc). In most computers everything works great, but in
    some computers the file opens behind the projector (which is in
    full screen mode), and user doesn't see that the file has opened.
    To solve this problem I have used
    'baWindowToBack(baWinHandle())' to send the projector window back
    before the external file opens. It works, but it's ugly solution
    (especially if there's many windows open on desktop). Does anyone
    know why external files open behind the projector, and is there a
    better way to fix the problem than the one that I've used?

    Instead of sending the Director window to the back, it may be
    better to
    bring the new window to the front. That will bypass the issue
    of other
    windows appearing over the Director window.
    I do not know why this happens, and I have seen it in action
    many times
    myself. It is annoying, but easily worked around.

    hi,
    this is what i use on a win2000 platform:
    try {
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p = rt.exec("cmd /c start yourFile.ext");
    } catch(Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e);
    it is possible that a full path of the file is required.
