Open Hub Services, Format of files

Hi everybody
Does anybody knows how to create a CSV file in ascii format using an open hub in a process chain ?
On my system which is a unicode it seems to be as if I could only produce unicode file when I use the process chain.
Thank you for your help
Alex

Hi,
Load the data into cube as normal process of process chain, then the second step is u should create an info spoke using RSBO, dran and drop the info spoke after the cube data load, there while u r creating the Info spoke it will give u the option of file transfer whethere u want to tansfer it as a CSV , ASCII file.Hope this helps.

  • Open Hub: How-to doc "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical File"

    Hi all,
We are using open hub to download transaction files from infocubes to application server, and would like to have filename which is dynamic based period and year, i.e. period and year of the transaction data to be downloaded.
I understand we could use logical file for this purpose.  However we are not sure how to have the period and year to be dynamically derived in filename.
I have read in sdn a number of posted messages on a similar topic and many have suggested a 'How-to' paper titled "How to Extract data with Open Hub to a Logical Filename".  However i could not seem to be able to get document from the link given.
Just wonder if anyone has the correct or latest link to the document, or would appreciate if you could share the document with all in sdn if you have a copy.
    Many thanks and best regards,
    Victoria

    Hi,
After creating open hub press F1 in Application server file name text box from the help window there u Click on Maintain 'Client independent file names and file paths'  then u will be taken to the Implementation guide screen > click on Cross client maintanance of file name > create a logical file path by clicking on new entiries > after creating logical file path now go to Logical file name definition there give your Logical file , name , physical file (ur file name followed by month or year what ever is applicable (press f1 for more info)) , data format (ASC) , application area (BW) and logical path (choose from F4 selection which u have created first), now goto Assignment of  physical path to logical path > give syntax group >physical path is the path u gave at logical file name definition.
however we have created a logical path file name to identify the file by sys date but ur requirement seems to be of dynamic date of tranaction data...may u can achieve this by creating a variable. U can see the help from F1 that would be of much help to u. All the above steps i have explained will help u create a dynamic logical file.
hope this helps u to some extent.

  • Open Hub services in BI 7.0

    Hi Experts,
I am working on BI 7.0 and have a requirement where i have to extract data from a standard sales cube(0SD_C03).I will be using open hub services, but i also need to send the master data attributes along with this into the application file server.
    I did the following steps
    1) created an openhub destinationa as a CSV file and selected the fields i needed.(Cube has 80+,but i selected only 10 fields for my file).
    2) added an infoobject YINVGP which is an attribute of 0Material
    3) The transformations were automatically created by the system.
    4) Created a tranformation between 0MATERIAL and its Attribute YINVGP and selected the rule type as "Read Master Data".
    5) When i click on transfer values to activate the changes, its giving me the following error.
Rule11(Target/BIC/YINVGP Group:01 Standard group) No master data characterstic selected.
    Rule(Target Field:/BIC/YINVGP) No source assigned.
Can the experts confirmif i am missing anything? If so please suggest on how to get the master data using open hub services.
Is this possible with open hub services,if so i would really appreciate anybody can pass me screenshots or step by step procedure,as i have not worked on open hub earlier.
    thanks in advance

    Hi Naga,
I have seen the link you have sent me.It doesnt really help me.But thanks anyways.I am able to create a CSV file, which is not a problem. But my question is can i get the attributes of 0Material to appear in the same file.SAP has provided an option to read master data in the transformation rules, and when i try to use the rule, its giving me an error saying source has not been assigned.
    thanks

  • Open hub service - Cube as source system

    Dear gurus,
i am new to open hub concept.
i need to transfer values from my query to a custom table in R/3.
    im using bi7.
    Questions:
    1) i guess pen hub is my solution. is it correct?
    2) do i have to transfer values from my cube or can i send values from my query too?
    3) i have created openhub service under modelling tab, i have selected target type as TAB. it says database table /BIC/OHZTABLO.
    is it correct?
    4) then i am trying to create Transformation from open hub ZTABLO to/ BIC/OHZTABLO. ?
in that case it shows that transformation target is DEST- ZTABLO? i mean open hub service is my destination? then what is the source?i am confused in that point.
    5) Thanks all!

    1) i guess pen hub is my solution. is it correct?
->If u want to transfer dat from yr query then APD (analysis Process designer) will be the best bet to go for. Create APD and schedule it in process chain
    2) do i have to transfer values from my cube or can i send values from my query too?
->Using OH(open hub) you have to use Cube as a source,,,you cant use query then.
    3) i have created openhub service under modelling tab, i have selected target type as TAB. it says database table /BIC/OHZTABLO.
->ya,correct,there are two ways to do that,,,either u send the cube data to a open hub table(as its happening in yr case) or send it to application server/flat file
    is it correct?
    --> yes
    4) then i am trying to create Transformation from open hub ZTABLO to/ BIC/OHZTABLO. ?
in that case it shows that transformation target is DEST- ZTABLO? i mean open hub service is my destination? then what is the source?i am confused in that point.
---> yr source is InfoCube and target is Open hub table /BIC/OHZTABLO
    5) Thanks all!
    Than you.

  • Open hub services

    hello Friends,
Can you please tell me what is the use of open hub service ?
As i believe that it is sending a data to flat file ? BUT even though we can also directly send a data through export datasource.
i just want to know is there any additional advantages for open hub.?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
The open hub service enables to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other Non-SAP applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the “InfoSpoke” (SAP BW term). Using this, one can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred.
Through the open hub service, SAP BW becomes a hub of an enterprise data warehouse. The distribution of data becomes clear through central monitoring from the distribution status in the BW system.

  • BW Open Hub Services...

    Hi All,
We need to load Master Data in SAP BW to our SAP CRM system. Someone recommended Open Hub Service in BW (using InfoSpokes). I want to know if it is possible to load the data directly in SAP CRM, instead of using a Flat file generated in Open Hub.
Someone said we can use DB Connect for this, please validate and give me some help links where i can find more info in Open Hub and DB Connect functionality

  • Infospoke/Open hub services

Guys, I am having problem with creating open hub services.  I have to push the data out to csv file.  I have been able to give it a name and see the field but what is next?  Is there something that I need to push to trigger it to create the file with the data in it?  Also please correct me if I am wrong Isn't Infospoke same thing as open hub services?  Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    RG.

Once the file name is given,if its a download to PC then it can only be executed in Foreground(Dialog).
Give necessary selections for the download & execute.
The open hub service allows you to distribute data from a BI system to non-SAP data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. It ensures controlled distribution across multiple systems. The InfoSpoke defines the object from which data is taken and the target into which it is transferred.

  • Alternative for BW Open HUb Services.

    Hi All,
We have recently implemented Open Hub Services solution for our clients, where data is being extracted from BW CUBEs to FLAT FILES. Now we came to know that we need separate License to use Open Hub Services. In the current context it's not possible to get the License immediately as it's more than the budget.
Can anybody throw some light, which all other way we can use to get the data extracted to Flat Files other than BW.
    We are on BW 3.5

Edited by: Kironmoy Banerjee on Nov 13, 2009 11:47 AM

    Hi Banerjee,
You can use Analysis Process Designer
In SAP BW, data from various databases from systems available in the company are collected, consolidated, managed and prepared for evaluation purposes. There is often further, valuable potential in this data.
It deals with completely new information that is displayed in the form of meaningful connectivity between data but that is too well hidden or complex to be discovered by simple observation or intuition.
The Analysis Process Designer (APD) makes it possible to find and identify these hidden or complex relationships between data in a simple way. Various data transformations are provided for this purpose, such as statistical and mathematical calculations, and data cleansing or structuring processes.
The analysis results are saved in BW data targets or in a CRM system. They are available for all decision and application processes and thus can be decisive (strategically, tactically, operatively).
Examples of analysis processes include the calculation of ABC classes, determination of frequency distribution or of scoring information.

We are trying to extract data from our BI 7.0 system to our desktop. I could do this easily in BW 3.5 by creating an infospoke and activating it and finally executing it but looks like as usual SAP has changed this for BI 7.0. In BI 7.0 it is completely different and i i did not understand how to proceed. Can anybody provide me with documentation on how to extract a flat file to my desktop using Openhub service.

  • Open hub services and infospokes

I am quite new to BW,i like to know about open hub services and what are infospokes and it is used to implement open hub services.i will b happy if u can provide some materials as well.

    Hi,
The open hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, you can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred.
Through the open hub service, SAP BW becomes a hub of an enterprise data warehouse. The distribution of data becomes clear through central monitoring from the distribution status in the BW system.
    Functions
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can act as open hub data sources. You can select database tables or flat files as open hub destinations. Both a full and a delta mode are also available as the extraction mode.
Components of the Open Hub Service
The open hub service is made up of the following objects:
    InfoSpoke
The central object for the data export is the InfoSpoke.
    The InfoSpoke defines the following:
u2022 The open hub data source from which the data is extracted
    u2022 The extraction mode
u2022 The open hub destination into which the data is delivered.
In addition, you can also select which data selection is to be extracted from which InfoProviders. This selection ensures that a destination for different points in time from the same InfoProvider can be supplied with data for different selection criteria using a delta. The selection set is freely configurable as long as extraction has not taken place in the delta mode. Once it has, this no longer applies.
    Open Hub Data Source
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, MultiProviders and MultiProviders and InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources. If you use an InfoCube with non-cumulative key figures as a data source, refer to the note regarding the settings on the Selection tab page in Creating InfoSpokes.
    Extraction Mode
An InfoSpoke can extract data in two ways: in full mode (F) and in delta mode (D). See InfoSpoke Extraction Mode.
    Open Hub Destination
Database tables (from the database in the BW system) and flat files (CSV) can act as open hub destinations. See also Extraction to Database Tables and Extraction to Flat Files. You can extract the data from a database to a non-SAP system using APIs with a third-party tool. See also Extraction to Non-SAP Systems.
The open hub destination includes all information about a target system for the InfoProvider data: type of destination, name of the flat file or the database table. It also contains a logical target system. The logical target system is used to structure the individual open hub destinations in the open hub monitor. The open hub monitor groups the requests according to logical target system, open hub destination and InfoSpoke. By specifying a logical target system, you get a better overview of the individual open hub requests.

  • Using open hub to create a file on another server

    Hello everyone,
I am wanting open hub to create a file, but create it on a different server (a file sharing server not associated with SAP).  Both BW and this file share server run Windows.
Can this be done using logical files  (FILE transaction) or other configuration?
I am aware of some other people posting here that send the file from open hub to DIR_HOME and then have created an OS command (SM49) to copy to the other file share server.  Also I know one could also write an ABAP to FTP the file from this location out to the file share server as well.
I was hoping that FILE transaction would allow this but so far I have not had any luck with it.
    Many Thanks,
    Kevin

    All,
Found out that this can be done, you can send a flat file from BW to a completely different server in one step, no need for SM49 or AL11 or FTP or ABAP program in the middle.  The trick lies in the configuration in transaction FILE.
    FILE transaction configuration steps:
Step 1 - Define Logical File Path - just a place holder here
Step 2 - Assignment of Physical Paths to Logical Path, here is where you enter the server & path but not a filename, for example
    \\server_swvs01\SAPFILE\<SYSID>\BPC\Cust_R3_sales\<FILENAME>
Step 3 - Define Cross-client Logical File Name, here is where you specify the actual file name to be written to the file share on the other server in field "Physical file", just make sure and link this to the Local path you created in Step 1 above.  You can also use system variables in the physical file name or hard code it all.
    your_file_name.csv
    Hope this helps someone
    Cheers,
    Kevin
